Question: Is it ever ok to ask the maid of honor if she wants to step down? Posted: 28 Apr 2018 11:44 PM PDT I'm getting married in a month and my maid of honor is my best friend of 15 years. She has been awful and it is making me question our friendship. I don't want to be the crazy bride that expects too much, but she has done NOTHING for me. She only talks to me every few weeks and never mentions the wedding. She hasn't even asked to help and I kind of thought she might at least throw a bachelorette party or a shower since we've always been best friends. I know I'm not entitled to one but I was a little disapppointed I guess. Some friends of the family threw me one and she came to it and was rude and offended a few people by not talking to them and walking away from them. My bridesmaids asked if she had a problem with them because of her behavior. Then she left early and didn't stay to help like my bridesmaids did. She also told me she is not making a speech at the reception. I'm just so hurt but I haven't said anything to her yet. I was thinking of asking her if it's too much pressure for her then I could move people around. Is that crazy to ask? |
Question: I feel uncomfortable at parties. Unless they are with CLOSE friends and family.? Posted: 28 Apr 2018 01:12 PM PDT I received an invitation to my cousin s fiancé s bridal shower. I m not close to my cousin and I ve met his fiancé once. I didn t want to go, and I did not rsvp. I did not respond at all because I did not feel that I was free to tell the truth. I wasn t going because I didn t have it in my budget to spend $20 or $50 buying a gift for someone I knew little of, and I wasn t going because I didn t want to spend money at a bar drinking to make myself less aware of how uncomfortable I feel around strangers. Well my aunt personally texted me an invitation to the bridal shower. Which I ignored. Then she texted me two days later. So I responded that I would try. And then I cried. Do I need therapy? I don t feel this way on purpose. I know a party invite is not a big deal, but this situation tore my guts with how uncomfortable it made me; like I m some weirdo freak who can t happily and peacefully go to a party to celebrate someone s upcoming nuptials. |
Posted: 28 Apr 2018 11:23 AM PDT So me and my ex boyfriend are in the same bridal party. Before we broke up we were expected to walk in together. This is my best friends wedding and his best friends wedding. My Ex seems to still want to walk in with me but I'm not sure why maybe he doesn't want everyone to know we broke up. His ex girlfriend who's been trying to come back into his life will be at the wedding too. The ex girlfriend I'm sure knows we aren't together. The wedding is in a month and we have been broken up for a month. Should I walk in with him To not give her that satisfaction? Or do I walk in with someone else. Because the bride is my best friend the decision is mine. |
Question: GF parents requested I take a genetic test before marrying their daughter? Posted: 28 Apr 2018 07:12 AM PDT I have been dating a girl for 6 months. I went over to GF parents house for dinner and took my mom along with me. I asked for their blessing to marry daughter and it felt like they gave me a cold shoulder. The dad responded "the blessing is always there". It sorta shocked me since they are supposedly a strong catholic family. The next day I returned to GF parents house by myself and they brought up a concern with me. Since I have a bro with a rare disorder, they requested we both submit to a genetic test before getting married, as they are concerned I may pass the gene to our future children. I went to look for engagement rings with my GF, and her dad got upset, and said to hold off on any wedding plans until we both get genetically tested. How would you handle this situation? |
