Question: Am I in an abusive friendship and, if so, what should I do? Posted: 11 Feb 2017 05:06 PM PST I have been best friends with this girl for 4 years. Now, she s at uni and I m on my gap year, and neither of us really have any other close friends. I m worried it s turning toxic. For example, whenever we are alone together we get on really well! However, when we re in a group and she s drinking (I don t drink), it often feels like I m the butt of the "jokes". One particular night I was very upset, because this happened. I didn t let her off, I told her I was upset and refused to meet with her unless on our own, and she apologised saying she hadn t realised I was upset. I d made my point and we went out alone, and we did have a fun time. But, one night, she had promised to Skype me because I was very upset about something. I waited for ages, and then she never Skyped. I know she has stuff going on, but I know she had been watching football. So I was annoyed, and I told her again, but she apologised and said she understood why I was upset. It just feels like we re drifting apart. I don t want to completely fall out with her though, because I don t want her to be alone. But I also don t want to be in a toxic friendship. I messaged her tonight saying we should perhaps Skype once a week and not really text so much, so then we become less dependent on each other and can make other friends. She agreed, which makes me think she s open to change, and she sometimes doesn t mean to be malicious. Do you think this is right? I am mainly stressing out that i may be a pushover. |
Question: Teenage girls who can drive would you have done this? Posted: 11 Feb 2017 04:54 PM PST I just got home from dropping my friend off at her house. Since it was warm out and I did not go in anyplace and was only gone for about 15 minutes I drove in my bare feet and left my shoes at home. |

Question: Is this cyber bullying if so why do these people do this on xbox live? Posted: 11 Feb 2017 04:16 PM PST was invited to a party from a guy on my friends list. I joined and some British kid told me to suck ____ then kicked me and the guy won my friends list even though the kid's friend invited us. I sent him a message telling him that what he did is rude and ask him how he'd feel doing it to someone else. Then I got an invite so him and his friend could start shouting words of hate at me for no reason. There so edgy and I heard one of them scream at their brother to kill themselves. I am amazed about how rude people can be when I did nothing. They shouted the most abusive stuff at me for no reason even telling me I suck my dad's _____ when he is dead I told them that then they say "I do it from the grave". I don't know if this is trolling or not but I did absolutely nothing to them. They have been reported by other people because they have a "Needs work" reputation. |
Question: Pros and cons of having a big 18th birthday party? Posted: 11 Feb 2017 03:37 PM PST I'm turning 18 on February 25th, and this year, for some reason, I'm flirting with the idea of having more than 5 or 7 close and trusted girl friends over to celebrate and sleepover.. I don't have too many friends but I've been making new friendships with classmates and friends of friends ad I want to have a bigger party, but I'm nervous that people won't enjoy it, or that someone might feel left out or they will leave early, idk I have social anxiety sometimes, so i need advice and tips for what to do and all. Thanks. |

Question: Wifes Best Friend took her job? Posted: 11 Feb 2017 02:14 PM PST I'm writing cause i'm curious what people think, wife thinks it's okay, I think it's F**ked up. Wife was about to become the GM at a store she works at, we were invited out to the seminar out in Vegas to learn how to run a store and get some tips and what not. She ended up getting pregnant soon after, her best friend said she didn't want the job had nothing to worry about that she would step on her toes. Well while she was pregnant her friend decided to step up her game a little and eventually they took notice and gave her the new store that was about to open up. I think it's wrong that her friend did this to her, her friend had less than 2 years of experience at this job while the wife had almost 10 years put into it. I'm pissed at this friend she said it's fine but it's not to me. |
Question: How Do I Convince Parents That I Can Hang With At My Friends House? Posted: 11 Feb 2017 01:47 PM PST I am 15 years old and have a paying job. I get so board at my house and when I ask my parents if I can hang with a friend they say no. Almost every weekend, my friends will invite me over to their house. I will tell my mom in advance, and she will say no. Sometimes they will flat out say no. Other times, they will make up an excuse, some include the classic "Were busy". Come the day when they wanted me to hang out, and I'm just sitting on my computer or my phone, board af. They also like to do the "We don't know their parents" excuse. The excuse they use the most is: "I'm tired and don't want to haul you to the other side of town" I'm sick and tired of this because besides school, I always have to be under their watchful eye. I feel left behind when my group of friends will be hanging out and I'm sitting at home scrolling through their Snapchat Story about them hanging out. My parents are suspicious and are going to go through my search history so... |

Question: Did I do something wrong at high school? Posted: 11 Feb 2017 01:33 PM PST I am the only girl in one of my high schools classes (AP Math). It is a very tough class and all the guys in the class offered to help me study and do the problems? I often took them up on the offer. They were VERY HELPFUL. I thought it was appropriate to somehow tell them thank you. I made cookies and took the cookies and Cokes to class and gave them to the guys. I also gave each guy a kiss and said thank you for your help. Much to my surprise some of the girls at school complained to the school that the school should not let what I did with their boyfriends happen. Even some of the mothers also complained to the school about what I did. Do you think I did something wrong? None of the guys complained? If the guys are OK with it and I am OK with it, what is the problem? |
Question: My little sister told me that she was sexually assaulted. What do I do? Posted: 11 Feb 2017 01:23 PM PST She told me that her friend's brother touched her "down there." I think I should tell our parents, but she made me promise that I wouldn't. Btw, she's almost 12 and her friend's brother is around 12 or 14. |
Question: Am I overthinking this? Posted: 11 Feb 2017 01:03 PM PST Hi! So me and my guy friend have been friends for a year. We became friends in high school and now we are friends in different schools. I do know he doesn't like me in that way. However I do think he thinks I'm attractive. I asked him if he was wanted to favetime over text and he dint respond for two hours so I get paranoid so I sent him a long text saying that I didn't want things to get awkward and I just value our firendship and am not looking for anything more. He's such a great friend and will always help me when's I have a problem. He sent the nicest text back right a way saying he understood completely and it's not weird and he's happy being my friend and the only reason He didn't respond was because he had class all day. He then asked me a question about school. It seemed like He really cared. And I will say he has been a lot better at answering texts since then. I asked him yesterday if he was wanted to FaceTime today and he said yes he'll see but he has a big test on Friday and hasn't studied at all cause of the super bowl and he said he will keep me updated I texted him today saying if you are up for it if And he said next week would be better. I said ok what day? And he said he will let me know. He's a really honest and good friend and we go to different colleges so he could easily get out of it. Any ideas? Am I overthinking? Also the patriots parade isn't an excuse he went to the parade all day |
Question: Who is in the wrong here? Posted: 11 Feb 2017 12:57 PM PST A group of my friends used to all hang out together, but one of my friends "Jenna" started growing distant and hanging out with a new group of friends and focusing on the music program in our school. I was bummed out but i understand that this is high school and people change and grow apart. We would always invite her to come hang out with us but she'd claim she was "busy". Almost every single time, so we stopped inviting her out. Now whenever she sees us hanging out together She texts us things like "sick invite" I don't understand because she's the one distancing herself from all of us and talking badly behind our backs and treating us like acquaintances. |
Question: Guy friend of 15 years doesn t want to talk to me because he likes me? Posted: 11 Feb 2017 12:56 PM PST Long story short we started dating a couple of weeks ago after 15 years of friendship but I broke up with him because he started acting crazy and accused me of going out partying and cheating when I was actually sleeping both times. He lives in another state and I bought tickets to go see him when we were together so I m planning to go next Thursday but he says he won t talk to me until then because he still has feelings. So he can text me rude messages when he s drunk but when I try to text him he says "nope don t talk to me until Thursday". So I blocked his number and am thinking of just not talking to him again. I m pissed that I had to waste all that money on flights. Is he being irrational or am I? |

Posted: 11 Feb 2017 12:41 PM PST Hi! Ok so me and my guy friend are pretty close. He's the nicest kid and I just want to pull pranks on him. For about a year now I have been dying to shove a banana cream pie into his face. It would be hysterical. He even has a beard so the pudding from the pie would be stuck to his face. I'm planning on putting th prank on my snapchat story too. He's really kind and sweet but I don't want him to leave just cause he got hit in the face with a pie. Any suggestions on how to pie him? |

Question: Now that I have my license, people suddenly want to hang out with me? Posted: 11 Feb 2017 11:15 AM PST Do they like ME, or the independent feeling I give them? I'm the first one of my friends to get my license. Most people will say "just say no, don't give them a ride" and I know I SHOULD but now I have people to hang out with and I want to take advantage of it while I can. Is this ok? |
Posted: 11 Feb 2017 10:49 AM PST I got on really well with my manager at work but I left working there just before Christmas. I didn't leave on good terms with some of the others but we always got on and she kept saying to me "you will keep in touch with me won't you?" We text a bit after I had first left and she was interacting with me on Facebook but the last few weeks I've not heard from her and when I last text her she didn't reply for over a week. I don't think she likes me anymore but I can't think of anything I've done as I've not seen her in person. She used to always txt me straight back but now I can't get hold of her. |

Question: Should I cut off my clingy needy friend? Posted: 11 Feb 2017 10:32 AM PST So I have this friend, she has learning difficulties and has not got much friends. She is too much to handle. She texts me constant "what you doing today" "oh lets meet up cause we are friend's" like its annoying me so much that if I was to try say something like back off, she still wouldn't understand because of the disability she has. I didnt really even intend to be mates with her. She just got my number from someone else in the college course. So I was like f**k! I blocked her on my phone cause she was constant texting "when are we meeting up" talk to me please beacuse we are friends" :/ like I'm not being rude but i dont have the patience with someome like that. I just want normal mates that I can have a laugh with. I seem to attract people with disabilities, no offense but if you have ever been around a person with severe leanring difficulties you'd know what I mean. You can have a normal conversation with them. |
Question: Is it ok that I never go out on the weekends anymore? Posted: 11 Feb 2017 10:08 AM PST I actually never go out at all... I was a very popular kid in high-school that did things that most college kids do (I had much older friends). I am in college now and I just don't have the urge or want to go out with anymore or care about making any new friends. Instead of partying on the weekends I just go to my dorm and watch TV and fall asleep. What is wrong with me? |
Question: Is it ok if you do not like to have friends or be in a group? Posted: 11 Feb 2017 09:53 AM PST If I am with friends or in a group, I barely get to dictate the rules. I have to accept what the group decides i.e going to a restaurant, travelling, movie, music etc or whatever. This bothers me because in the end I don't get to choose what I like and instead have to adjust for what my friends or group like. My friends and the social circle I am in cannot understand the beauty of classical music. They couldn't comprehend anything beyond pop or rock. This frustrates me because I am so good in music that I get so bored of repetitive phrases in contemporary music. I would rather wish to go to an Opera which they won't consent to. Not only music. It can be anything. I will be interested in watching Harry Potter but they will want to see X men. My parents, friends etc think that I cannot be affiliated to a group and think I am weird. I really love being alone doing the things I like. Perhaps play my violin or go to a restaurant I like etc. Is that bad? |
Question: A guy whose parents feed cows but thousands of cows what kind of person would he be? Posted: 11 Feb 2017 09:43 AM PST |
Posted: 11 Feb 2017 09:15 AM PST I have this friend and we calm each other "best friends" and sometimes we are but I ve lately been feeling like she s a bit too clingy. If she sends me a text she expects me to answer in .5 seconds and I I don t she will keep texting till I respond. She wants to co styantly be around me and do everything with me. I feel kinda suffocated. I don t want to hurt her because she has lost a lot of friends. There was this one time that she was spamming me so much that I told her to stop and when she didn t I blocked her for a while just so I could get my work done. Later her sister texted me telling me she was crying. The girl told me she thought she lost her best friend. We re going into high school next year and I just really wanna joins new circle. Im trying out for volley ball and I want to join student gov. Every time I mention breaking apart she says she s gonna start crying. She s so sensitive and I don t wanna be a bad person but I want to break it off. I feel like I could at some point in hs but I m just worried because I might have classes with her or because I don t think we re having other middle schools in out high school and I might not be able to join another group of people. Any advice ? |
Question: My "friends" are being jerks? Posted: 11 Feb 2017 08:50 AM PST We re a group of about 5 people. We all used to joke about each other but it seems like now I m just the butt of all the jokes. They say I m anorexic but I m not I m just skinny. I m in 6th grade and weigh about 72 pounds. The biggest jerk is my friend named Marissa who likes my friend named Nate. She is really close to him but he said I am more of his friend. I feel like this is the reason why. They act like I have no feelings and when I ignore them they don t care. I would leave them but I don t have much other friends and I m really shy. How do I make other friends? |
Posted: 11 Feb 2017 08:27 AM PST So 4 or 5 of my school mates removed me from facebook, coincidentally most of them all at the same time and what's really funny was my so called ex and I broke up and I'm an Applied Math major. They're all whites, for some reason, they didn't remove other people no matter where they have reached in their lives after college? So why me? Did they ever stalk me? I don't think I'm anyone to be jealous of, I feel they were being racist, but I just don't get it. One of them got into medical school and other one is an Accountant sooo...and no I've never talked to them after high school. |
Question: My ex-friend keeps annoying me!? Posted: 11 Feb 2017 08:18 AM PST She keeps saying she wants me to hang out with her, and keeps playing the victim card even though she's such a brat! (As stated in my last question "My friend said no one likes me?".) And her little sister and other friend are ganging up on me. I don't know what to do. It's driving me crazy. They knocked on my door a full four times probably. I had to ignore them. She never supports anything I do! I can't just give in and be her friend! She's so mean. :( She said if I'm not her friend my crush will never like me. They also said I'll have no friends, even though I have plenty that treat me WAY better! She stopped knocking on my door. But she knocked probably 20 or ten times. |

Question: What is the age when older people become very friendly to young people? Posted: 11 Feb 2017 08:00 AM PST I'm not talking about sexual relationship. I'm talking about general friendship. I'm a guy in my late 20s and when I talk to old people in their 70s or 80s, they are usually very talkative and they don't hesitate to talk to you. But many people who are in their 40s and 50s get annoyed and think I'm strange or ask me if I'm gay when I'm not if I keep talking to them when we are not best friends. |
Question: What do girls do at sleepovers ? Posted: 11 Feb 2017 07:44 AM PST Me and my wife and our friend are having a sleepover tonight. We're all young girls I'm 18 they're 24 and 15. What do girls like to do at sleepovers ? |
Question: Why does my "friend" act this way towards me? Posted: 11 Feb 2017 07:36 AM PST So everytime me and my sister hangs out with her she literally only talks to my sister. Like honestly if I didn't speak to her she probably wouldn't say a word to me. She use to not be this way, I've known her for 9 years. The only thing I can think of she would be distant towards me is, one time this guy liked me and she liked him but I couldn't help that. But even when he did she acted like it didn't bother her. Then one time we got into an argument when her because my sister and her applied for the same job and my sister got it and she got extremely mad. I just can't stop hanging out with her after 9 years, Idk what to do. But it makes me feel like crap because she pushes me to the side. It really didn't start getting to this until she got this boyfriend she's dating now. Before that she was fine with me. |
Posted: 11 Feb 2017 07:26 AM PST Yesterday was my birthday and I was surprised that half my friends didn't even happy birthday. My teacher some how knew and said happy birthday when I raised my hand to answer a question. A few people said happy birthday out loud but others just carried on through their day without even saying what's up. What does that say about my "friends"? Should I just focus on building healthy relationships with good friends and not mediocre friends? |
Posted: 11 Feb 2017 07:05 AM PST We have been good friends since last year. We used to do the pot smoking when we hung out and his dad never suspected anything since he is very reserved and not very "in the times" I guess lol, so he never usually suspects anything. A few months into our friendship his dad came home and could smell weed in the house since he smoked in their. His dad flipped out and went nuts. Needless to say the summer went by and we didn't really speak. However we ended up hanging out again towards the beginning of the year and we smoked again. However instead of the usual enjoyable high he ended up paranoid and freaked out. The main problem I have with him now isn't that he doesn't smoke marijuana it is because he acts weird and paranoid and complains about the smell of it Everytime me or anyone else does it. He will get drunk and smoke cigarettes yet he gets annoyed and paranoid anytime he even gets near weed. We occasionally have parties and now Everytime we have them we have to keep it a secret from him because whenever anyone brings weed he starts complaining and insists we open windows. I'm not really sure what to do here. Me and other friends tend to smoke a good amount of weed every now and then and his paranoia and complaining ruins it. The thing is too is that his dad would NEVER find out if he started again since he isn't a very hands on parent. How do I go about dealing with this and what can i do? Any advice is appreciated |
Posted: 11 Feb 2017 06:02 AM PST So she's very passive aggressive, / introverted. And she was telling me that her house mates keep taking over the washer facilities as they're always constantly drying their clothes every day. Not given her a chance unless they go home for the weekend. I was just looking for some advice |

(Mind you we were talking through snapchat and she was clearly at home) talked till about 2am But according to my other friend, today she told her that she's been trying to break up with him for a month now but said she also left that night and stayed at a guys house and snuggled with the guy? |
Question: Partying is not for me. Is that normal? Posted: 11 Feb 2017 03:30 AM PST I'm nearly 20 years old and most of the people I know go to clubs, get drunk and high on the weekends. For me my weekends are spent patrolling the streets and arresting criminals.I have even sacrificed family member's parties for this. A lot of people say that I'm boring because I do this instead of clubbing. To me I find my activity way better than anything because I'm helping people. I also don't like the cliche lifestyle. But don't get me wrong I do have my drink occasionally and going out to places(mall etc.) I chose not to party with the others. This week my childhood friend tried to invite me to a party and I declined. He tried convincing and telling me that my activity is boring and I should go to the party. I made an excuse and left it there. The truth is that partying is not for me. Is that normal? |
Question: What should I get my best friend for her birthday? Posted: 11 Feb 2017 01:59 AM PST I haven't been best friends with her for long so we're not extremely close but we hang out together in school and have banter but i've only known her for nearly about a year. She's turning 14 so i want a gift that's nice for our age. She's quite girly and she's likes animals. She loves shopping. She likes romantic cliche books or books that are easy, fun and short. She's doesn't read much but I want to find a good book so I can get her started on reading. She's quite childish and adorable but in a good way so she's fun. She likes chocolate and I think she'd like cute, artsy things. She doesn't like sports. She doesn't really like any music or singers/bands really. To summarise her in five words she is: adorable, girly, fun, weird and childlike! I want to get some really nice presents for her but my budget is £50 so i don't really want to go above that but I can stretch it to £55 if needed. I've been looking for cute friendship bracelets/ necklaces on amazon but couldn't find anything that was nice for her/ relatively cheap. Any ideas?? |

Posted: 11 Feb 2017 12:54 AM PST I've had pretty bad luck with friends throughout my life but one day in drama class i met this girl lets call her Lucy. We immeaditly hit it off and started doing this every day, she became my best friend. After years of bullying she was always there for me. After 5 years of friendship I met this girl in school lets call her Anna. We also immeaditly clicked and after a couple months I decided to introduce her to Lucy. Everything was amazing at first but I realized slowly that when all 3 of us would do something it was kinda awkward, I shaked it off thinking it was nothing. After 2 or so years of friendship with Anna I met a guy and it evolved into a serious relationship (my first) this guy was all kinds of bad boy. He rode a motorcycle, drank till he was blackout drunk every weekend so I don't really know what attracted me to him. He was really addicting and all in all it was a toxic relationship. During this time Lucy and Anna did more and more with each other and started getting more close. After the whole sche bang with my ex i went to England for school and because i was gone for 5 months naturally they did more with each other. I've been home for 3 or so months and I barely recognize my best friend. I realized that Anna stole my best friend and has no intention of giving her back. This is making me really depressed and I don't know what I should do... should I completely stop trying and get new friends or try to get her back ? |
Posted: 11 Feb 2017 12:30 AM PST At a party there were some guys I didn't know. They were at my surprise early birthday party. I kinda distance myself from guys and especially from people I don't know. I didn't really talk to them or sit with them. I didn't mean to exclude them/ but i kinda feel like that's exactly what I did since I chose not to sit with them and hung out more away from them with my other friends. I feel really bad about it like they think I'm a cold rude asshole or something like that. I just...I don't even know. I just feel so bad. Like they weren't having any fun and they just felt uncomfortable and not welcome. But I didn't exactly invite them..but I don't want to be considered rude..but I'm shy... I should/could have been more welcoming. I just...dont even know |
Question: Is there a system for good combacks? Posted: 11 Feb 2017 12:23 AM PST So far my system has two separate tactices. " why are you important in this conversation?" And commenting on the fact that the person uses the same vocabulary constantly... " you have got to be challenged in the fscebook deparment to stutter this much" |

Question: I'm losing friends and I don't know why? Posted: 10 Feb 2017 11:39 PM PST They all of a sudden stop talking to me and ignore me, they give the message that they don't want to have any relationship with me anymore. I ask them why, and they don't feel comfortable responding, like their hiding something from me. And it isn't just one friend, its spreading like a wild fire. I am starting to think its malicious rumors, but would they really believe in such bull? I talk to my close friends, and they just tell me they weren't real friends or worth to be a friend if they rather believe in rumors than actually know the person. But these people didn't know me too well to begin with and the friendships were early. |
Question: How to fix a broken heart....? Posted: 10 Feb 2017 11:10 PM PST My lover just left me and he was all I had. Question: How should I handle a situation with my friend who doesn't respect my opinions? Posted: 10 Feb 2017 11:09 PM PST My friend invited me to go see a movie with her tomorrow and I told her I couldn't go because I was going to a planned parenthood rally. It was okay when she asked me about why I was going and what my beliefs were. But then she started critising me for it. She said I was "fighting for the murders of humans" and that I need to have a "discussion" with God about my opinions. And also she prayed that God would have mercy on me. I was really offended and hurt by the things she said. She started pulling things out of the Bible and telling me to think about when I was rallying. I've never disrespected her views as a conservative so why does she disrespect mine? Also I don't know what to do about it. We have been friends for so long but this is unacceptable to me and I don't know how to handle it. What should I do? Please no political opinions, what she said was offensive and not justifiable. I just want help with friendship matters. |
