My best friend is always getting into fights with her parents.. mostly her dad. The other night, her dad hit her while I was on the phone with her. She did nothing wrong, like always. If anything, she'll talk back to them, but only to defend herself because they're cursing and yelling at her. She calls me now to talk to me about it. She just called me crying and saying how she wants to leave but she's only 17 and her mom is making her stay at home. I want her to stay with me, but her mom won't let her. What advice can I give to my friend? What are some words I could say that would make her feel better?

When I was 8 or 9, I wake up, comb my hair, put my school clothes on, and go to school. Simple as that. Now that I'm in high school, I spend like 30 minutes every morning looking into the mirror making sure if even a strand of my hair is hanging out, if my eyes are not puffy, if my face isn't swollen, and if I look pretty basically. Then I make sure if my stomach is flat enough, if my thighs are small enough and if I smell good. I compare my appearance to literally everyone. Other girls. Boys. Even kids who are younger than me. Why couldn't it be like the good old days? I woke up, go to school, and go home. Never even once thought about how I look ever in second or third grade. Now I worry way way way too much. No, it's been like 6 or 7 years ago.

So for this quarter i've been dealing with an annoying lab partner. She's smart don't get me wrong, but she's a know-it-all. If I question anything she does she will get angry. If I tell her she is wrong, she gets irritated with me. Yet she's too shy to ask the teacher questions and always asks me to ask for her (which I dont) Today she told me her schedule for next quarter and we will be having the same lab together AGAIN. Obviously I know we're in the same lab but didn't wanna tell her 'no' When I see her in our lab next quarter, what should I say if she asks me to be her partner? I'll just try to sum it UP! I'm a student, boy, 22 years old, freshmen that studies languages, and lately I'm feeling like I'm loosing identity. Short back story: I used to be friends with all five of these girls, but best friends with one of them. Her and I got in a huge falling out after four months of being best friends. So, about 2 years ago this girl and I became friends. Within two months I realized she was a manipulative, dramatic liar and an attention whore. She complained constantly about life and was always making up some undiagnosed condition that she must have. She went so far as to take pictures of me when I wasn't looking and send them to her friends and tell them I was ignoring her (when I was not). She also told me that people in our social group were ugly, fat, walked weird, evil, etc. After those two months I realized it was a mistake to ever talk to her. I tolerated her for another two months or so and then tried to slowly distance myself from her. It only made things worse, and we ended up having a huge falling out where she was literally screaming and swearing and verbally beating me down and telling me she hated me. All I wanted was to stop being best friends, not have a huge fight. Then she went and spread rumors about me to people, which made other people awkward and dislike me. Meanwhile I've said nothing about her. She actually hit me, and I didn't do anything back. I told a teacher and my teacher and the girls parents said that it was just a teenage girl thing, and that it probably went both ways. I text my friend sometimes and well, this just gets on my nerves. Today was my first day of high school (freshman only). I don't know anyone in the school, and everyone already knows each other and has their "friend groups". Since the first day is freshmen only, all freshmen had lunch together (instead of the usual mixed-grade lunch) So today at lunch I asked if I could sit with these two girls that looked nice. At the beginning of the School year my Daughter was absolute Besties with this little girl that rides her bus and I mean, they where inseparable. Fast forward and now they can't stand one another. My Daughter told me the little girl is nice to her on some days and yells at her on other days. Tells her shut up and things like that.They can't seem to get along on the School Bus and aren't allowed to ride in the same seat. I'm a senior in high school and I feel like my two best friends of four years, are drifting apart from me. For instance, I get to school early and usually I go to the library. So my friend texted me saying that she'll meet me in the library. Anyway, the class bell was about to ring, so I decided to go to class. While I was walking to class, I saw her walking with someone else. So basically, she "stood me up". There's three of us, and it seems like they leave me out of their conversations, however, when I'm with one of them, everything is fine. Also, one of them keeps telling me that I'm too "dependent" but I don't think so. The only thing that's "dependent" of me is that I hate being by myself (I'm an only child). Other than that, I'm capable of doing things on my own. Otherwise I wouldn't have made it this far. I am a freshman in high school. I am almost 15. My life is pretty simple and boring. I get up, go to school, come home do homework, eat dinner, walk my dog, watch TV, study, and sleep. I try signing up for extra curricular actives like one of my favorite sports, softball. Recently, an injury stopped me from being able to play softball anymore so I have nothing to do after school. I am a straight A student but I'm not a genius in anything. I don't have the patience for something like chess. I have no musical talent and I can't sing. My passion is horse riding but I can only go once a week. I love photography but it's been raining so much theres no good lighting. But this Saturday I promised I'll bring the car but my cousin's friends is going to be staying in our and I don't want to be without a car. How to tell my friend I changed my mind?

Hi, today I have to go to my moms friends house along with my two siblings (they have friends there) and I really don't want to go. I have to however because there are workers working in the house and I can't visit friends because they are all on holiday. So to pass time at my moms friends house, what should I do? I can't 100 percent be myself on there because of them. They talk about boring stuff 24/7. All they do is take pictures of their food at restaurants, take photos with a thousand people and talk about work. I'm a college student who's fun and bubbly. I'm a normal young girl. I like taking selfies, posting funny memes, cosplaying. Yes I'm social, but I don't care to be surrounded by tons of people, yes I work too, but I don't care to use social media to share my life with everyone. They think all I do is pose for pictures and say things that make me fight with my parents over what I'm doing with my life all because I don't share what I'm doing with my life on Facebook. Today, I had to delete a funny cards against humanity hiku combo that said "my black ***, laying an egg, saying I love you" because that might "look bad to your professional cousins" and all my man crush Monday posts like Robert Downey Jr, Young Sly Stallone from last week, etc. because "that makes you look like a pre teen having those, it looks immature" meanwhile other people who are much older than me Stan them. For example, why is Iron Man and avengers so popular amongst 20 and even 30 year olds? i am in tears now. I hate my family :(

I have noticed this with coworkers. I've noticed that whenever they see me drinking 5 HR energy drinks or Red Bull, they get worried and talk me out of drinking it... Or if I eat fast food everyday during break, a lady would bring me a plate of food that she cooked from home...they always want me to smile when I don't want to and whenever I'm disrespected by someone, they tell me to stick up for myself when that person bothers other people too... But they'd tell me "yeah but I have a relationship with you"..and people usually tend to worry about my love life and try matching me up with the prettiest women. Why do they care about me so much?

I was always afraid of being alone but now I'm just so comfortable and use to it. I'm in college and my "friends" dont ask me to hang out anymore since whenever they'd ask, I had work or school. We got into a huge argument and they didn't want to work around my schedule and I got tired trying to work it their way. Now I'm friendless and I only talk to my bf. Will this loneliness affect me greatly in the long run? It's really hard making friends at school and I have a hard time getting free time because of my job. :( Advice?

My friend is a lesbian she's upset because she loves her partner so much it hurts her. The thought of loosing her bothers her. She loves her very much even more now since they have kids. She's been crying for the past half hour. How can I comfort her ? She wants to know why does she feel this way ?
