I've known this chick for only a year in a half and she is asking me to be a bridesmaid in her wedding. She wasn't a bridesmaid in our wedding so why is she asking me to be in her wedding. I guess she hardly has any friends because it's pretty weird to have your future brother in law's wife as a bridesmaid. I really don't want to be a bridesmaid because I don't want to pay for a hideous dress and I haven't known her long enough. How do I tell her so I don't hurt her feelings

Hi all, please no rude answers as this is quite a sensitive issue for the bride. She has choosen me, her best friend and her soon to be sister in law as her bridesmaids whilst the groom has choosen three of his best friends. The bride's mother keeps asking why the bride's brother isn't involved in doing anything so she asked her brother if he'd want to be an usher/greet people and wear a kilt which he replied no to and will not wear a kilt. The mother of the bride pushed the brother to wear a kilt when the bride stepped in and said if he's a guest he can wear a suit which he's happy with. The mother of the bride is now moaning at the bride as she is unsure who to sit at the top table and where to put her brother. The bride did say she wants her brother at the top table but if not then he could sit with his aunt and uncle and cousins so he'd be comfortable? Is the mother of the bride being unreasonable? Or is the bride? Thanks
