Posted: 15 Nov 2016 10:11 PM PST I recently became to the love of my life. We have decided to have a engagement. My father is married to a woman that I don't like. She is a conniving, meddling, lying, intrusive person. My father's wife desperately wants to stick her nose into my business. I have very, very, very politely asked her to please stop telling me how to plan our wedding. I have not shared any of our plans with her, and yet she feels that it's her "place", since she's married to my father. I don't need or want her advice. I just want to plan my wedding without her adding to my stress. What is the best way to handle my father's wife? I meant to say have a short engagement. |
Question: Average/Decent Catering cost for 15/20 person luncheon? Posted: 15 Nov 2016 07:29 PM PST My boss asked me to arrange a luncheon for 15-20 people, buffet style, without a budget. I've never arranged anything like this before and I don't know what's a good price. I got in contact with a family friend who caters and she quoted me for about $800 and I thought that seemed a like way too much. My boss is literally no help at all so my question is, what is a decent price for this event? |

Posted: 15 Nov 2016 09:13 AM PST My husband has very strong opinions on this stuff for a man and sadly it's usually the opposite of mine. So far we've had deadlock arguments on the following: Day or night reception, whether or not to allow kids, what song we should come in to, what song the bridal party should come in to, what favors to get, specifically how those favors should be arranged, cake topper or not, our pic on the save the date or not, seating arrangements and more. We've been together for 5 years and never host big parties like this so I don't see it as an ominous forecast about our marriage to come, but how do we get through it now? A lot of this stuff there's no compromise on. We either include a pic or we don't. And the one against pics doesn't want ANY pic, so again compromise is out. |
Question: How to politely ask guests to give money instead of gifts for our wedding? Posted: 15 Nov 2016 08:46 AM PST I don't event know if there is a polite/appropriate way to do this and the reason we are doing it is because my Fiancée and I just got out of college and we are trying to start life and possibly a family. We both have good jobs but are in huge student loan debts. We'd just rather have money and chose how to spend it rather than get gifts that we may not need right now or that we can just buy in the future when we are more stable. Thanks for the help |
Question: Is it a bad idea to get married in May? Posted: 15 Nov 2016 06:41 AM PST I heard that May is the worst month to get married because couples who get married in May are most likely to get a divorce. Is this true? I really want a May wedding but now i'm not so sure. |
