And out of all those years we ve only hung out like 2 times, all in the 8th grade. I personally think it s her parents, I think they are racist towards me as I am black, and she is Puerto Rican. The reason I think that is because she s allowed to hang out with every other friend she had except me, she is even allowed to hang out at her boyfriends house! And her parents are pretty stick so this just drives me crazy.and I don t mean to be the annoying clingy friend but she always post on snapchats pictures of her hanging out with other people, and I get really jealous and upset because whenever we try and make planes her parents always tell her "oh we might be doing something then." And I don t want this to be something to end our friendship but we don t really talk much in school, so not being able to hang out outside of school is kind of making me feel like I m loosing her as my best friend..I don t know how I should handle this situation. |

I just have this rollercoaster of being awkward and then not being awkward. It's like I'm not comfortable in my own skin with people. Or like I feel I have to put on a performance. Just tonight I was hanging with a friend I've had for three months (I'm a college freshman), and at first I felt like I was doing fine for the most part. But then she said she was going to the cafe and I said I would join, but from there on out I felt like I was kind of making her feel uncomfortable. This has happened to me a lot lately. I can tell I make people feel uncomfortable because they don't really look at me they when talk to me. It makes me feel awful about myself. I just want to be fixed. I don't want to be awkward anymore, at all. But sometimes I think I'm just socially or mentally deficient. And I'm scared that the friends I have now won't want to be my friends because of this. I mean I've told some of them that I'm kinda awkward, including the one I was with tonight. But I dunno. I'm scared of ending up alone and I'm scared of being awkward for the rest of my life. Often I make progress. This last month or so I was doing really good. But now I feel like I'm back in that stage again. Is there any hope for me? |

Whenever my family would visit a place, the next week, they would go the exact same place we did & post it all over social media! Not only that but after my parents got a new car, she told them she'd be getting the exact same one! Color & all! Her mother is bragging all over social media that her daughter is taking "introduction to fashion classes!" Have in mind my friend doesn't like fashion what's so ever. In fact, she's very sporty! She's shown no interests in the arts at all but after I show my artwork or interest in fashion, she's all over it?!? One more thing, she gets aggravated when I don't invite her over but when I do, she lies that she's not feeling well in order to go home. Even back in middle school I would always get rejected from classroom groups and had very little friends I'm usually quiet and respectful when I meet someone new, the more i get to know them the more I open up. I think this is out of fear from past experiences where I would get bullied for being myself. So that's why I'm always really quiet and everyone tells me that. I moved to a new city, I'm going to a community college, and working a part time job but still have only a coworker as a friend and that's it. I don't hang out with him outside of work because he's got his own life in highschool. Can somebody give me advise on what could work for me to make new friends, I'm honestly willing to try anything out but I can't think of anything myself. |

Who ruined me emotionally for a long time post breakup. Short story- he didn't like his own group of friends so he took mine away from me, and became besties with my ex best friend and probably more. There was a lot of trauma with that because I had to start over and let that group go, thanks to him and my "friends". This was 5 years ago. Currently, I have started a new life after letting friends go and staying as far away from my selfish ex as possible. Over the years he has taken it upon himself to befriend every single person I ever knew. During the midst of all of the non sense I had a new friend, whom I found through my job. We became best friends and stopped speaking almost 2 years ago over something stupid. This past week i couldnt help but think about my best friend (the one from 2 years ago), because we were two peas in a pod and every where I go it reminds me of things we did together. I reached out to him via email and he responded saying that he missed me too and we should meet up to clear the air. I agreed to do this.... So now, after snooping which I wish I hadn't done, I find that his two closest friends are somehow friends with my EX. I dont understand how that even happened, and I am tired of running from him but want absolutely nothing to do with him at the same time. He is a shady person, with no life obviously. Should I even bother rekindling things with my friend? |

Frank's a nice dude but he's too nice to women for some reason and let's them take advantage of him. This girl frank knows asked if he knows anyone who can give her a ride somewhere. I had to go that way anyway so I said I'll give her a ride if she gave me gas money. Frank paid me instead of her. When we pulled up for some reason frank got out and went in the back seat so she could sit in the front. As soon as she got in she was very bitchy. She said my car was an old piece of ****. I told her flat out she can walk if it's so shitty. She rolled her eyes but I let it slide. Then I stopped at a gas station because I was running on E. She started bitching about me stopping. She said "holy **** frank, your wonderful friend here is wasting my time" so after I filled my tank I kicked her out of my car and drove off. Frank was saying I was an a*s hole for treating a women like that. I don't care if it's a male or female. If I'm doing someone a favor and they act rude I won't put up with that crap. Am I a jerk or did I do the right thing? It wasn't a rough area either but even if it was I might have done the same thing. |

I'm not always the best at reading people. But then again: people don't always read me well either. People have gotten mad at me for being bold, adventurous and goofy—cuz they wrote me off as "serious" and "boring". The older I get, the more I notice this, and I'm just done dealing with this crap. I know in my heart I will never have many true friends, because I'm not some simple "what you see is what you get" person. Advice? |

I said something that offended him and I asked him what had offended him and I really understood where he was coming from and I felt terrible for saying what I said and I apologized. He apologized for lashing out instantly rather than telling me what was going on. In the end everything got resolved and we both apologized to the other for our part in the matter. I still feel weird though. Since the issue was settled I haven t contacted him and I don t know how to do it without being weird. I just feel like when I talk to him I ll be reminded of how I offended him and keep feeling terrible about it even though I already apologized and the matter is settled. Any insights? Has anyone been through something like this? |

I do pretty well in school plus I'm in a lot of honors classes plus in the NJHS and in an Art/Writing Scholarship program. I play sports year round and volunteer at my church a lot. All of my friends have the latest greatest of whatever phone and I'm stuck with a $20 TracFone I've had since 5th grade- honestly it's a best embarrassing, lol. My parents are really strict and have high expectations for me so it's hard to convince them for things that are kind of expensive like a cell phone. Please respond and no rude comments please. :) I don't have an iPod/iPad or anything to really talk to my friends on or use social media on. All I have is a Laptop that doesn't support Kik, Instagram, iMessage, Snapchat etc... (Obviously). |

I have trouble finding friends.I got into a friends group of people who know each other from highschool. 2 of them are cool, but the others are very childish. One of them tried to exclude me with his social politics, didn't work for him. Half of my classgroup is immature and wants to fit in.I decided to ditch them, this week i met 2 guys from my group (50 students) and it really clicked, just because they're mature. One small problem is, when we go to a bigger classroom (of like 200 ppl), they rush to their highschool friends and don't introduce me to them. I found some interesting people on FB who are in my year who i never heard of, though they're not in my classgroup. Only chance of meeting them is ending up sitting next to them in the bigger classrooms (600 people). It's just completely random who you end up sitting next to. Most people just stick to their highschool friends and don't think it's okay to talk to others. I once got invited for a beer after class, the guys seemed really cool, but one guy kept talking over me really trying hard to fit in, never let me say anything. I left after my beer was empty. How do i make friends? I went to the freshman parties, i was the only freshman, because my fellow students don't dare going alone to a party and most of them commute home every day. I want to find friends who party, hit on girls and get drunk. I don't want to relive highschool. |

We were always productive and found many fun things to do while hanging out such as skateboarding, airsoft, baseball, basketball, going into town to get food, prank calls, etc. But since high school started I started to notice a change in him. He has been really lazy, doesn't wanna do anything productive except play video games, doesn't try in school anymore, and doesn't even like it when I record him and me hanging out on snapchat like normal teenage kids do. He also has started to become more negative since meeting this new kid who I sometimes hang out with and shoots down any ideas I have. I dunno if he is depressed or something but I just want him to be back to normal so we can go back to enjoying life and being good friends. I'm a guy btw. |

I don't have a group of friends or a best friend. I used to, but my best friend outgrew me and became popular, so now I don't. All of my friends are in different groups. I'm a cheerleader and all of the girls on my team are my "friends" but we never hang out. When I ask people if they want to hang out, they just ignore the text every time. Sometimes I'll ask them in person, but I always have to text them to confirm and they just ignore it. Now I feel like I can't even text them anymore because after they ignore you like 5 times it's embarrassing to even try. I never have plans on the weekends and I feel so lonely and depressed. I'm considering ending a friendship with my best friend of 5 years. I finally forced myself to see her for the massively narcissistic, attention seeking person she really is - and how I've always been a punching bag for her emotions in this unhealthy friendship. Last week, I told her that I will be renewing my work license in New York (I live in Philadelphia) for two days during my day-off when we were talking about work; out of nowhere, she mentioned "I guess you don't miss and want to visit your friend in California afterall". I just don't understand why she always takes my words out of context in order to make me feel guilty and be manipulated by her. When I was talking to my family when she was calling, she left a message saying "I won't bother you by calling anymore if you're busy". What would you do in my situation? I just don't know what to do anymore. I will miss her very much. But I won't miss the friendship. I won't miss the friendship at all. |

But those are also are my only ways of connecting with my friends. My friends told me that if I delete I will then be a nobody. Even though, I do not care about being a nobody, people are just very quick to point out the bad on my social media, which is just prompting me to delete them. I mean social media used to be fun, (back in myspace days where you posted goofy photos with friends) but now you have to make sure your pictures are **** and span. I have a crooked overbite smile, which i have just accepted as a part of me, I posted a picture of me smiling and everyone is just like eww why are you smiling. Delete. I seriously just have a love hate relationship with social media. Good for raising self-esteem but also good for lowering it... What are your thoughts on social media?? | Question: My best friend suddenly annoys me a lot? Posted: 21 Nov 2015 11:21 AM PST So me and my best friend have known each other for about 6 years but we stopped talking for about 4 and now we ve been best friends again for a few months. Everything was going great until a week or two ago. She makes rude comments about my boyfriend and hardly ever talks to me anymore and pretty much excludes me in any conversation and we got in trouble by my parents a little while ago and I ve been grounded ever since and the reason we got in trouble was mostly her fault anyways and now she just makes rude comments about my parents and idl she s just been making me really mad. The smallest things she does makes me mad. Like when she misspells something when we re texting or when she acts like she s all that. Idk I ve just started to notice how big of a ***** she is. I m not sure what to do. |

Anyway I used to be really outgoing when we were friends and popular too but we split up and now I only have 2 best friends (friends before were fake friends) anyway she got brainwashed because she got involved with the wrong crowd. Anyway I told her straight off I wouldn't be her friend anymore because of how she preferred the company of my worst enemies. Anyway she started talking to me again after 9-10 months well warming up to me I might say. She knows my 18 year old friend is going to college and that my other friend might ditch me because I've become really studious by the way I'm a girl. So do you think she's waiting for me to come back? She always looks at, she's not the same sincere honest person I knew she got corrupted by my worst enemies. She knows I will have no other friends because I'm foreign. Look people I've not a guy I'm a girl and also I do not clearly think I'm stupid, I'm just asking a question I do not hold an answer to I was only wondering what other people think, this person really meant a lot to me and I just can't let it go that easy. I question the fact as to why she observes me and talks to me if she is so happy with my haters? It makes me think if she's actually happy or if she's faking it. No rude answers please because you're not judging me you're judging yourself. |

| Question: How do I stop feeling so lonely? Posted: 21 Nov 2015 11:04 AM PST I am a fifteen year old female. So basically I have been moved through different communities my whole life (lived in asia until I was 4, then moved to Holland into an english speaking community, then to a dutch community of immigrants and now actual dutch people). I've always been on the shy side, but up until last year I've had at least a small group of friends, but that changed when I moved schools yet again and I just didnt fit in and felt awkward and less attractive than everyone else. I have my one best friend I hang out with after a school and a few people I talk a bit to during school and my teammates. I've had a lot of anxiety related breathing problems lately and I've just started seeing a psychiatrist. My question: is this just a teen phase? Will it go away? Of course I know I have to work on it, but right now I can't even talk to boys without stuttering. But will it get better with time? I really hope so, because I hope to broaden my social life in the future. I constantly feel lonely the whole time, like I'm missing out on the whole 'teen experience' and it's been bothering me everytime I sit alone. I've always liked solitude, but now it is finally really getting to me and it might even been causing depression for me, I don't know. |

She's always calling me her best friend, and is my best friend behind closed doors. However, to the general public, she sometimes acts as if she is embarrassed to be my friend. This is so hurtful. I understand how she could feel embarrassed by hanging out with me in pubic with the "visible" age difference, however age is just a number & I do not think it should be a factor. I have absolutely no problem with our age difference, I'm proud to call her my friend. Even though she would never say it, I know she feels differently. I feel as if she's embarrassed or ashamed to be seen with a much younger person out in public. How do I help her get over this feeling or let her know how much this in unintentionally hurting me? |

I was talking on the phone with my friends and he came in screaming at me because I took a home phone, so he was digging through my room to get another one, and then when he couldnt find one, he was like "BYE" and then hung up. I explained to my friend. Then, the other day I was playing Roblox and when I went to the bathroom, my dad took my laptop and went on my account, and PRETENDED TO BE ME." Another thing- I posted a picture of my friends and I on Instagram, and he somehow found my account, and commented "Why are you guys on Instagram, you little f***s. Grrrrrr he made me so mad so I reported him hahaha. Anyway, it needs to stop. What do I do!? |

I used to go to a school 3 and a half hours away and wanted to be closer to home so I transferred to a school only 45 min away thinking I would be happier being closer. Now that I'm at my new school, I am not happy here. At my old school, I was really homesick but as the second semester came, I started to get over my homesickness and I was happy there. I had a lot of friends and was having fun there. However my parents always wanted me to transfer to this closer school and I listened to them because I thought what they what wanted is what I wanted to. I live in an apartment at my new school with a friend I've known since kindergarten but she's pretty much my only friend there and she has work a lot so I get lonely and bored easily. My best friend at my old school stayed there and I miss her and miss all my other friends as well. I also am talking to this guy who lives in the college town that I transferred from and It's hard because if I would've stayed at my old school, we wouldn't have to do the whole long distance thing. I feel like I'm missing out and every weekend I basically come home to my parents house and am always bored. I feel like I'm not living life where as my old school, I felt alive and was having a lot of fun and felt like I was really becoming into myself. I'm actually crying as I type this. I'm glad that I'm closer so I can see my parents whenever but i regret transferring and I can't transfer back... |

But for some reason everytime I talk to her she snaps at me. I texted my other friend that sits with me at lunch and he says that she says she doesn't like how I'm always touching her when I barley know her. I haven't touched her. One time I saw her down the hallway and swatted at her hair playfully and she has hugged me before. I dont know, I just really want to be friends with her and its making me upset. It's kinda stupid. I texted my friend that sits with her at lunch and I think he got annoyed about the whole thing and stopped texting me. When school starts back, I'm gonna feel so awkward. What should I do? |
