Question: Can I marry my fiance through skype? Posted: 23 Apr 2016 09:48 PM PDT Okay me and my fiance have been talking for months now. We are ready to tie the knot but due to our finances we cannot travel to see each other. :( I am American and he is Pakistani. I have met all of his family through skype and I have introduced him to mine. Due to our religion we do not wait long to marry. Once we like someone bam we are married. Okay so Can I marry him through skype? If so, how do I go about this. How is this done? Do I bring my laptop to the courthouse? After me and him get on our feet we will be able to fly to each other in a year but I want to make him my husband now! Please no judgements. I only live once and this is my choice. Please help. |
Posted: 23 Apr 2016 01:43 PM PDT I am not getting married but just curious. For example if I was I would not invite the friend from Elementary School who I have only seen once in the last 10 years and only here from in one sentence remarks on Facebook like "Happy Birthday". So do people usually just have current friends and not old friends now semi-friends they hear from occasionally? |
Question: Is it ok to be emotional during best man speech? Posted: 23 Apr 2016 12:22 PM PDT Hello!! I was asked by my best friend to do the best man speech for his wedding. I was very happy to do so and have the opportunity to say something really nice about him in front of everyone. I wrote the speech and I've been practicing in front of my girlfriend and the mirror. I wrote it to be emotional/sentimental as well as adding some jokes and humor in it also. Every time I've read it, it just kind of hits my sentimental side and I tear up. My friend had suffered from severe depression and from being suicidal so I'm just very proud of him and how far he's come. I think because of that I feel emotional when reading the speech. I don't talk about him being suicidal and depressed but I say how proud I am to see how far he's come from that low point in his life and how much I really do appreciate and love him. I'm afraid of completely losing it in front of his parents, family and everyone else. Is it ok to be emotional and cry a bit during the speech at the wedding? If it's weird, how can I control it? Did this happen to anyone else? There's just something about this that hits my soft side and I quickly can't keep the tears in. I've been trying to practice so much that there is no more emotion to it but it's not working. Thanks, have a good day!! |
Question: Why do people have issues with someone getting married to gain citizenship? Posted: 23 Apr 2016 12:00 PM PDT Heck, even the govt. puts its neck in it. But at the same time no one has any issues with people marrying for money or assets. It's fine for men/women to marry and keep multiple partners, marry and divorce to get half the assets, or marry someone to get other benefits!! However, if someone wants to get married to obtain permanent citizenship, then all hell breaks loose.. why so? How is this any bad than the usual trend? |

Question: Who pays at a destination bachelorette party when I'm the only bridesmaid going? Posted: 22 Apr 2016 11:48 PM PDT My friend is getting married, and wants her bachelorette party in Vegas. Between the 5 people going, we live in 4 different states, so it was bound for the party to be a destination. She has 2 bridesmaids, myself included, but the other one cannot go. In regards to the the other 3 girls going, is it standard they should help pay for the party even though they are not in the wedding? I really don't want the bride to pay for anything, but it is a lot to cover myself, and one of the girls expressed to me she shouldn't have to pitch in since she is not part of the bridal party. Do I still ask everyone to help, or do I suck it up, and foot what will end up being a very expensive bill being the only bridesmaid at the bachelorette party? |

Question: Roommate problem. Was I in the wrong or was my roommate in the wrong? Posted: 21 Apr 2016 10:28 AM PDT Me and this girl we met at a freshman fair before we roomed together and we were cool. So we roomed together in the fall and she started to act strange, after me and my suite mate became closer friends. She blocked my number, she would stare at me from a far, (in the cafeteria) and I felt like she was trying to compete with me when it came to guys. I know it sounds petty but when your friend is telling you about the guy you like how he was flirting with her it was hurtful. So I confronted her about her issues and she got mad at me. She made it seem like I'm overreacting and she's been trying to be a great friend? Little did I know she told the RA on me, and the dean and a bunch of the girls in the freshman class. She made it seem like me and our suite mate was jealous of her, when I wasn't. I'm just really hurt that things could go this far. I ended up leaving the school and while I was leaving she was in the lobby deliberately watching me move my stuff. What do you think is her problem, I can't figure it out. Btw when she was watching move my stuff she lived in another dorm room, not with me Florida A&M |
