I am a 25 year old single guy with a 15 year old niece Jill, my sister's daughter. Jill often comes to my house for help with her homework. If we finish her homework late she spends the night a my house and I take her to school the next morning. She told me she was a nervous wreck from her mom and dad fighting all the time and they were getting a divorce. She wanted to stay with me until the divorce was final. I told her that was OK with me but she needed her parents OK which I thought would never happen. However her parents thought it was best for her not to see them fighting all the time and agreed she could stay with me until there divorce was final. I was very surprised by their decision but I think they were thinking of what their fighting was doing to Jill. Jill moved in with me and has been living with me for 3 months. She is a very nice person and is no longer depressed. We have had a lot of fun time together going to school events and sporting events. Jill ask me if I would adopt her so she could stay with me permanently. I told her that I doubt if her parents would let that happen. I don't know if you can adopt someone that has living parents. Does anyone know if that can be done? Is there a better solution than adopting her? Could she just live with me if her parents are OK with it?

So I was home schooled because "I couldn't focus" in real school. I was yelled at by my mom a lot, and my dad was rarely at home. I went to school in fifth grade but didn't want to go to school in sixth grade because I moved away after fifth grade from friends and was an easy bullying target. Then my family got all religious and screamed at me with insults and stuff. My dad then stopped being religious and now I've been in public school since 9th grade. I'm about to graduate, but in reality I want to kill myself because of my family's emotional abuse and the fact that I didn't get a proper education. Recently, my aunt came to visit my family and I, actually she came yesterday. I have a feeling she doesn't like but I don't know why. I've been in a relationship with my girlfriend for a good, long while now.. She lives every day at home in constant fear on if her father is going to beat her over this, or that, and every day, I genuinely worry if she's going to be sent to the hospital.. If he isn't verbally abusing her, telling her she is useless, retarded, a waste of space, pointless, how he wishes she was never born, or how much he wants to beat her head in, he is either choking her mother to near unconciousness, beating her to the point where she has difficulty moving, or doing drugs in their livingroom.. on many different accounts, she has called the police on him, they would come to her house, and leave without a question, only so she can have her *** handed to her.. since 9,shes been cooking, cleaning the whole house, doing everybodys laundry, and recently, her mother has been forcing her to dress her in the morning, (although she is 34 and has nothing physically wrong that would inhibit her ability to do so herself.) shes talked to social workers at school, police officers, and even a judge on one account, but nobody seems to care to give her the time of day, let alone get her help.. On the surface, everybody believes her father is a good, wellhearted person, yet he abuses her to the point where i spend every night convincing her on why she must not end her life, and each night, it seems to be getting more and more difficult to convince her to stay alive.. if this keeps going on for much longer, i believe im going to lose her, and i dont know what to do to help.. we live in IL, and i know there are laws against this behavior.. could somebody pleas point me towards something or someone who would be able to remove her from her house, and keep her safe.. i dont know how much more of this she can take, and i am very desperate.. she is 16, and i need to help her find a sure-fire way to get her help. could somebody please help me??

I'm an ethnically Japanese girl, but I was born in America and have lived here my whole life. My parents immigrated here a little before I was born. They have Japanese views on who I should marry (someone else pure Japanese). Well, I ended up falling for a white guy. My parents have never approved and it really hurts my feelings. I know they're hoping we break up, but we're never going to. The other week he proposed to me and I said yes. I love him. I want to spend the rest of my life with him. What hurt the most is when I moved in with my now fiancé. They would always get really worried I was going to get pregnant, and I know it's because they know my baby would not be pure Japanese. Hi, i am 12 years old and my brother is 15. Whenever I do something good and my parents compliment me about it he always tries to strip it away from me. For example I did good in a basketball game last night and my dad was telling me how good I did and my brother says, "It's easy in middle school basketball. When I played i was way better than you, you suck!" That's sort of a bad example. but he also always pushes me and hits me and I don't tell on him because im not a snitch. My stepdad has no job and doesn t do anything around the house, he just sleeps and eats all day and when he sleeps, he sleeps in the living room. If he gets woken up he screams and yells at the person who did it. He also drinks all day (an alcoholic) and is addicted to pain killers. My mom and I get in huge arguments every day and I'm sick of it. Everyone downstairs can hear us yelling. Sometimes we even fight. And it's always about something stupid. I'm 17 years old (18 in a month) and usually you would know me as a happy person. I had a rough childhood growing up due to mom and dad divorcing then my mom turning down the wrong road with alcohol and pills. After the divorce my dad has nothing to do with me but I still always remained happy! Things started going bad when I had to drop out of school a year ago just because my mom refused to work and we got evicted. I had to take on a full time job just so I could support myself and her. I have a dog who is my whole entire world. She's the only happiness I feel like I have anymore (Plus my boyfriend) but my mom would watch her while I was working, but she never took care of her properly then told me my dog could not live here anymore, so I moved out with my dog and went to my boyfriend's, whom lives with his grandma. His grandma waited until the day I moved in to tell me my dog couldn't stay there! (My boyfriend owns the house but he lets her control everything) My boyfriend has a dog that is allowed there and his grandma has two dogs there. Her's dog are gross and pee's and poo's in the floor because they had NO proper training, unlike my dog who is very well trained and always calm. My dog ended up at a foster home until I could get everything straightened out... I am so miserable here. His grandma hates me and tells me I have to move out, but its not her house! and my boyfriend never stands up for me. He's basically a grandma's boy at the age of 19, almost 20. Me, my boyfriend, and my brother are talking about renting our own place but my boyfriend denies everywhere we find somewhere at. He says "That's too far from my grandma" or "that's to far from my work" when its only 15 minutes away.... I just want my dog back and I feel like my life is at a complete end! At some point of time, parents (very conservative, traditional) send their daughter for higher studies to another city. The girl gone astray gets into the life of a man 4 years older than her. Eventually they get into a relationship and plan to get married. Her parents are highly against that. Later, they had no choice but to get her married to that guy and calling her a whore (they had consensual sex before marriage). 10-12 years later their son (who has lived a celibate life till now) has now crossed 30. His parents identify him as being gay or impotent or "not being man enough to attract or to satisfy a woman". Parents try to keep girls away from sex before marriage, but for boys it is totally different. WHY?

My daughter is a freshman in High School, and tried out for the cheerleading team and made it! In fact she was one of the best girls at the auditions she practiced and study really hard, but on Friday the team was given their uniforms which, is cut off to show their bare stomach. So they had their first practice Friday afternoon in the gym and my daughter was wearing the same uniform as the other girls the only differences she's the only one on the team with an Outey Belly Button. After practice the her female coach offered my daughter another uniform which, dose show off her bare stomach. When my daughter asked why? The coach said she was attracting too much attend from the boys because of Outey Belly Button. It's not like my daughter was doing anything sexual she's actually skinny for her age. Okay, so im chamging names for this story. My son is 2.5 years old and knows without a doubt his name is Aiden, sometimes we may daid Aid but we do not use middle names or any other nick names. My.son will tell you he is Aiden. About two months ago i was picking my son up from his dada house and one of his half brothers (on his dada side) said "are you here to pick up willy?" I said "no im here for Aiden." I was then told that my sons name while at his dads house was willy, i then rememberes a year ago my son s step mom sending me a text calling him willy and when i questioned she stated it was just a joke and i dropped it, ive also found several posts on social media where step mom has posted pics of my son referring to him as Willy. They ve stated they are no longer calling him by this name at my request for then to stop. I don't have enough space to write everything but let's just say he's said things that hurt me in big ways and small ways. Heres just a small example of how stubborn he is. He is doing god knows what on his laptop. He has both of his earbuds in his ears. He isn't even paying the slightest attention to the tv, in fact, the tv is off. My mom is reading a book, also not paying attention to the tv. So I take the remote and turn on netflix. I turn on a tv show that he has never even watched but he automatically looks up and is like this show sucks turn it off. Of course, I'm like how does it affect you so he starts screaming at me. My husband and i had a fight last night and he stayed at a friends and then to his mothers in the morning and ignored my calls all night/day. So i go over there to try and get him to come home because we have 3 kids under 3 and he was refusing whilst his mum was butting in and telling me what i need to do ect. Then she would ask him what he is going to do and when i turn my back she would tell him not to go and he should stay there. I had an argument with her and she turned it on me saying if this is how i talk to my husband he sure souldnt come home (he sided with her). Then out of the blue she threatened me saying the court will take my kids away. After a while he agreed to come home and then she was all hugs and kisses saying you will be alright. Now tomorrow afternoon we have a counselling session and she was going to look after the kids at my house but i dont want her to because 1. She is abusive towards me and 2. She has a long history of threatening, abusing and harassing me. My husband said she is coming over even if i dont like it because its not about that. I am disagreeing and trying to tell him how its not ok how she treats me but he is saying we will talk about this tomorrow, i have to sleep. My father was a woman and had sex change surgery when he was in his early 20's. Yet, my mother and father had me and two other kids. Does this mean we must have been adopted? My parents are so secretive I am afraid to tell them I found out about my Dad. My older cousin told me and I'd long wondered about the mysterious sister in my Dad's family referred to (turns out she is him). It is not that I think anything less of my Dad as this was just how he was born. He was a man in a woman's body apparently.

His bad manners shock me. I have talked to him about this many times, he doesn't get it. When I stay over and we wake up in the morning he will go with his mom and have breakfast while I am in his room with the door he shut closed for 30 mins...he comes back and to wake him up on how rude he is, I say how was breakfast? he says nice...he told me if I want to eat I can go to the shop and also buy something to make his mom and him to eat? since I never offered before he said... His reason for this is because he never stayed over in my family's home for 5 years, my reason for doing this is he lacks manners, and I don't want to shock my family, not to mention they hate him. His mom judges me and looks at me with stern cold eyes, sometimes fake smiles if I'm lucky... I have no problem cooking for my boyfriend, but his b*tch of a mother, never. All she would do is compare how great her food is to mine, and it would become a competition that I don't want to get into... When I left that afternoon, I pretended I was going to the shop, I asked her if she wanted anything, she said no. not even a thank you for asking, nothing. I said well bye then, didn't get one back. What would you do? I can't really take this much more...

I'm a 14 year old girl, and both of my brothers molested me when I was younger. When I was 5 my eldest one would make me sit on his lap and he would finger me n make me do stuff to him,,, but I didn't know what it was and I told my mom one day and he just got yelled at that's it. When I was ten he tried to do it again but I told my mom again all she did was yell! When I was ten-12 my other brother forced me to do stuff like give him ha jobs and suck his d.. I told my mom but he doesn't know that she knows cause if he finds out he will kill me he's crazy, anyways that stopped know that I have my own room but I just can't stand looking at them, they always make me feel like crap like I shouldn't live they curse at me all day and tell me I'm mental, two nights ago I cut myself cause I don't want to live with them anymore n ended up in the ambulance and hospital they are keeping me here for a week. So I'm in the hospital right now and extremely grossed out by the fact that they used to touch me n make me do stuff... I don't want to live anymore both my brothers are over 18 and still live with us. I feel like suicide is my only option.

My mom keeps threatening to kill/poison/beat my younger brother (6) and me (14). She recently told my brother that if she ever got a hold of him he would be dead. I ve tried killing myself so many times in the past 2 years. Most recently I took a bunch of different kinds of pills. She is constantly saying how ugly I am and how retarded and stupid I am, then she turns around and says how proud she is of me. Please give me some advice, I m scared for mine and my brothers safety.

First of all, I know this will sound like a first world problem and like I'm some privileged kid complaining. I hate that this is the worst of my problems, too. It beats me up inside because I feel so ungrateful. I am complaining about my phone, which is an iPhone 4. I've had it for a few years and it's worked pretty well, but lately it's been super slow and doesn't do it's job well. Imessages won't go through unless I'm on wifi, even though my data is turned on and I have enough. My data cuts out at random times and the location services don't work off wifi, so my mom can't see where I am on find my friends. We've worked for over a year to fix this problem, but it still isn't solved. When my mom can't see me on the app, she gets very mad. On top of this, everyone I know, without exaggeration, has a newer phone than I do, and I get made fun of. I usually don't care about what people think about me, but this makes me feel very bad about myself. I hate that I live in a place so privileged that it's seen as acceptable to make fun of this. Everyone else's data and texts work fine, and it's my phone that's always the inconvenience. My mom recently bought herself a new iPhone 6 and my dad also has one, so I feel like I should be getting one. They're also always complaining about mine, but I'm still stuck with it. They say that I'll get a new one, but it never happens. I am grateful for what I do have and for what my parents have given me but this is uncomfortable.

I'm 22, and I'm not good at face to face conversation. My whole family (my parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents, etc) treats me like a 5 year old. They talk so slow and clear only to me. They talk about me behind my back. I even heard them talk crap about me when I was a few feet away from some of my family. They all call me a nickname that I dislike. I politely asked everyone to please call me "Angel" which is an alteration of my name "Angela", they all laughed at me and still continue to call me the name I absolutely cannot stand the sound of. I babysit my 4 baby cousins all by myself, and everyone assumes my mom is the one who does it all. Even though my mom spoke up and said that I am the one who does everything (change diapers, feed them, put them down for a nap, and occupy them, etc.) I feel more and more depressed with my life. What should I do?

I came home feeling very down and upset bc of something that happened while I was with my friend and I came home and sat at the table and dad darted asking me questions about my day and I wasn't in the mood so I told him "Please I'm not very well dont ask me " But he kept insisting and I got pissed and I answered with one word questions and I felt the need to go upstairs to my room but as I was going dad just flipped and started yelling "YOU F*CKING **** you will answer when I ask you something! You barely talk!" I said "I told u I'm having a bad night so I'm going to bed!" And he said "I DONT EVER WANNA SEE YOU AGAIN GO UPSTAIRS NOW!" But i stood there staring at him in shock and he yelled again "NOW YOU F******" he wanted to smack me but didn't and instead broke a glass.... and I ran upstairs and began to cry at how I saw him this angry for the first time in my life and over something so stupid! The next morning I saw he had taken my phone, and he wasn't talking to me. But then he gave me my phone back and didn't say anything. I apologized but he's stubborn. Why did he make a big deal out of it? He never acts like that even over more serious stuff..!?

The plans are in the works for a Malibu beach wedding with me in a dress. I'm from the rural midwest. They don't even know I'm gay. They will find out because my legal "dependency" status will change, which they'll see when they fill out federal financial aid docs for law school and when I'm off their health insurance plan (Obamacare). Should I just tell them before the wedding, since maybe they would want to come see it (but theyre catholic and wouldn't recognize it), and the guy I'm marrying is wealthy enough to take care of financial aid and insurance, so even if they disown me, I'm not completely left out to dry? I'm a 22 year old gay gut.

I go to a private school that my parents work their asses off to keep me in this school. My dad even had to live separately in a different city to keep us (my brother and I) in this school. Our family isn't a rich family . But for some reason, my parents insist on sending us to this school. Recently my parents sent a tuition reduction letter to the school in order to have less of a financial burden to our family. However with my shitty grade, we didn't get the fee reduction. I just feel as if I am such a disappointment to the family. I am literally being a shi tty bi tch in my family. I just feel like I don't deserve all this. My parents are working their asses off. Hell, they can't even live together because of me and the only thing I could have done for them was not fu ck up my grades. And I had to fu ck up my grade. What is wrong with me? It's not that I'm stupid or anything. I know I can get good grades. I have gotten good grades in the past. It's just that I've gotten this lazy brain that doesn't want to do anything. I either put almost no effort in my work or I just don't submit it at all. I just feel like absolute garbage and my parents aren't even mad like half of the times. They're just really really disappointed. I can't blame them. I don't want to burden them with more worries about myself and my grades. I don't know what I even have to do at this point. I can't just go back into the past and change my grades. WHat should I do.?

I'm about 13 weeks pregnant with my 2nd child and i am hesitant to tell my husbands mother . That woman is NOT the best person to talk to AT ALL . Before we got our own place she told us not to have another kid because it would be "taking away from the other one". My first child is almost 3 years old, what exactly would i be taking from him ? I don t know what to do anymore. I feel as if my mother would rather spend a day at the Slots rather than with me, her own daughter. Which is true, since that s what she does most of the time. I know my mother loves me but she puts me, my father, and my brothers through a lot of ****. She tries to make excuses for her behavior yet her excuses aren t logical. My father made mistakes in the past, yes, he isn t perfect. But she has no right to spend all his hard work earned money on something so stupid! It hurts me so much inside everytime she hurts him. How could someone be so insensitive? I know she had an addiction and she can t help it but.. And it s not just the addiction that she deals with. She is also bipolar and has depression. She also has a heart problem if all that other stuff wasn t enough. Her mother died after she gave birth to my mother and her father abandoned her. My mother is a strong woman, I respect her for all she went through. She gets violent when my father tries to talk to her about her problem. She slapped him seven times before while I stood there, begging her to stop. I saw in her eyes, nothing but pure evil. She didn t care that I was bawling my eyes out.
