Question: What do I need to do to resolve conflicts between my daughters? Posted: 04 Sep 2019 12:05 PM PDT I am the single father to my 2 teenage daughters ( 17 & 13). They are at each other's throat constantly fighting, cussing each other out about something, almost on a daily basis. Usually these arguments are over clothes, someone taking too long to get ready in the morning, things like that. What usually happens is I send them both to their rooms and end up giving the same talks. I tell my younger daughter to not annoy her sister, I tell my older daughter to act like the near-adult she is and be above retaliation. |

Question: My Estranged Brother died months ago, although I just found out, how should I proceed? Posted: 04 Sep 2019 11:30 AM PDT My estranged brother passed away at least 2 months ago. I found out by reading his Facebook page. I have reached out to the person who posted (no response) and have only a confirmation of death through he state Dept. of Vital Statistics. He had no other family, I don't know about close friends. Outside of getting the Death Certificate, what should I do? He had no estate worth speaking of. |
Posted: 04 Sep 2019 11:14 AM PDT he had died. I didn't even have such a great relationship with him. But every time I think about not being there with him when he died it makes me cry. I think I'm going to die soon also, I am sick. I wonder if my own son will not be there when I die because of some kind of a karmic thing? To back up a little bit, they told me that he wasn't doing well and like I said I didn't get there in time because I was sitting there in shock for too long. I had a complicated relationship with him and I guess when I heard he was dying I just couldn't move for a while. When I got there his 'girlfriend' was really nasty to me and sarcastically said , "your father's dead" when I walked through the door. Did I deserve that? I'm not sure |
Question: Is this normal? Did he take too much sleep aid?? Posted: 04 Sep 2019 11:06 AM PDT Someone I know took 2 Unisom pills that I'm pretty sure isnt like a "overdose" per say. He's asleep right now but he fell asleep super fast and when I tried to wake him up to move to his bed, I literally could not wake him up. He's pretty much underweight so I wonder if it hit him harder than normal. Or is this normal I dont know. It's super scary though bc we literally cannot wake him up, not even a blink. |
Question: Should I talk to my son about saying this? Posted: 04 Sep 2019 10:51 AM PDT My teenage step son likes to have his friends over to hang out with him. The first time he did this I overheard him tell his friends "I will introduce you to my beautiful, hot, sexy mom". "I am very proud of her". I am not sure that is something he should be saying about his mom. Should I talk to him about that not being something appropriate to say about his mom or just take it as a compliment and forget about it? |
Question: How do you deal with missing your kids at college? Posted: 04 Sep 2019 10:50 AM PDT My youngest daughter moved 6 hours away to college last month. I did ok for the first few weeks but I'm really starting to miss her. My two older sons go to college about an hour away from home and I get to see them every other weekend or so. And if I REALLY want to see them I can get in the car and go to them. My life is great otherwise, happy marriage, good job, great friends. It's not that I don't have a life. I just miss my daughter. I swore I wouldn't be sad about this. There are such bigger problems to have than my daughter off at a great college (on scholarship) and doing exceedingly well there. But I can't help it, I miss her. |
Question: How do I stop feeling devastated when visits with family don't work out? Posted: 04 Sep 2019 10:50 AM PDT Like if someone is in town but we don't cross paths for various reasons. I ask about it all the time on here. Growing up I was banned from the family cause of my Mom but now I am allowed in the family but never quiet a full member, more like a 2nd tier member. |
Question: What would you do if you were in my situation? Posted: 04 Sep 2019 10:49 AM PDT My brother has been missing for 3 months now and today is his birthday I haven't felt good about coming to work because my mom is sick and I know she's gotten worse since my brother went missing.. I didn't want to leave her alone today because I know how bad she could get but I had to because since I've called out already 2 times with no coverage my manager said she would fire me but I need this money for her medications my 2nd brother got into a motorcycle accident last month and that was the first time I called out and then second one I couldn't make it to work I did message so many coworkers nobody responded I cover everyone's shift but nobody covers mine I have a love hate relationship with this job for that reason like I need the money but my family is also important. My heart is completely shattered today but I have to fake it till I make it and get out of here and go home to my mother. I don't want any negativity on here I just don't know what to do i didn't know whether I should've came to work or stayed home with my mom. |

Question: Can he be faking a fever? Posted: 04 Sep 2019 10:43 AM PDT My 16y/o brother seemed to be running a pretty high fever since last night. Im supposed to be in charge in the morning and take him to school since my parents work super early. Last night when we checked his temp was 103. something (with the ear thermometer) so he took something to bring it down or whatever. My dad bluffed and said if his temp wasnt down by morning they'd use a rectal thermometer on him. That didnt work he just kept at it. He didnt get up to go to school this morning. I decided to call his bluff so I just left him and figured he'd give up faking it once it was too late to get to school on time but I'm a little bit worried now since he's not answering his phone. I dont want to overreact so he thinks he got one over on me but Idk, kids these days have come up all kids of clever ways to work systems. His temp was still 103. something this morning. Could he fake that or should I be worried and go check on him? |

Question: Should I do/say anything? (I need advice)? Posted: 04 Sep 2019 09:06 AM PDT I was adopted and recently connected with my bio family. I have a little brother (17y.o) and almost immediately it became clear that he was the only one from the whole family, who has an issue with my sexuality (I'm gay). He is the epitome of a homophobe. At first it made me unable to stand him but after getting to know him a little bit I tried to reach out. We all got together for lunch last weekend and, as usual, he refused to sit near me, let me hug him or touch him at all. Whenever I go near him he's physical jumps and retreat as if he is genuinely afraid of me. Everyone has been shocked about and say he's never acted like that b4 and that it was all new. Anyways, at this lunch I called him aside to talk and the more I confronted him, he was near tears saying things that have led me to believe he'd been attacked or assaulted in some way. When I asked him flat he neither confirmed or denied it, but in a way that kinda confirmed it for me. He's sense asked me not to repeat any of what we talked about to his family and to just forget it but I could tell whatever happened is still affecting him. I dont want to overstep thought, especially as a newcomer to the family. I also dont want to go into details of what he said but I'm pretty much sure he was molested or raped or something happened that has him lashing out the way he is. I know some ppl might be like "oh ur assuming" but I'm literally sure. And the fact that he's also a minor has me conflicted. |

Question: Was I wrong for telling my mom I am moving out in 2 weeks? Posted: 04 Sep 2019 07:51 AM PDT I'm 24 years old I have never been a talkative child she stated before if she "never called me she wouldn t know I was home". When my father got sick we moved in 3 days to their hometown in another state. I've never lived here And I didn't get a chance to say goodbye. It took me a while to Figure out I was depressed. My friend moving here was a great help. my father passed and I didn't take a break I ended up doing poorly at my 4 year college. I have always been told to handle my business so There was no need to talk about it. this year I decided to quit school. The main reason I went to this school was because my mother said there was no need to leave. Now during that time I was awarded a free scholarship to any public school in my state all the ones near are private. I listened and stayed. It's been 2 years. My mother has become overbearing and I respect it's her house. before telling her I wanted to have everything done.she's always stated that when I move I can't be on her insurance or phone bill and so I Have been taking on my responsibilities. I move the 20th. I thought telling her the 1st of September wasn't a issue that's 2 weeks and 5 days almost a month. Well since I've told her she's been upset. I've done it wrong and didn't handle my business right. I shouldn't have waited till last minute to tell her. I'm saying just **** her. Anything I have said to her comes back to her stating she's not mad because it's less on her bills but she's mad at the way I did it. |
Question: Do you think my parents will be mad at me? Posted: 04 Sep 2019 07:40 AM PDT I started feeling pain on my lower left wisdom tooth. I dont have insurance until October when I get married. The problem where I think my parents will be mad is because they took my to the dentist last Saturday. Funny thing is that I had no pain Saturday. It started yesterday. I will pay for the removal of the wisdom tooth myself. I just feel like my parents will be mad because I didnt mention anything Saturday to the dentist even though their was no pain to mention. My fiancé told me if needed he will take on an extra shift at work so we can pay for this (i know its my problem but hes feels real bad im sitting here in pain). I did get xrays done at the dentist on Saturday so I have updated ones. What can I do? I am going away on the weekend of Sept 27 so i need to either get it removed earlier that week or the week before :( I dont want anyone being mad at me either.. |
Question: What should I do? Is this considered illegal?? Posted: 04 Sep 2019 07:12 AM PDT My 17y/o brother's ex-girlfriend recently got into an arguement with him and, I guess out of spite and trying to stir drama. Sent pictures of him to me where he is blacked out, apparently drunk or high or something and she and another girl were posing with him. No one was exposed or anything in the pictures but they were quite inappropriate. In one of the pictures she had put his hands up shirt. In another pic, the other girl was making out with him. I confronted him abt the pictures and he just got upset over it and asked me to just delete them, block her and leave it alone. I know it wasn't like porn or anything like that bu it's still pretty messed up especially since he had to have been like 16 at the time. It isnt that illegal? What should I do? Part of me thinks I should tell someone but also, he was completely black out unconscious so I'm pretty sure he'd get in trouble too. But his ex is making it her mission to mess with him. |
Posted: 04 Sep 2019 04:19 AM PDT Some cousins are coming through town from South Carolina due to the hurricane evacuations. |
Posted: 04 Sep 2019 04:16 AM PDT I have always been the parent and her the child since I am so much more mature then her. She has matured in the last 4 years though. My Dad fears my mother but I am the one to rise above her and am the more mature of the family. I have two siblings also. One is mature and better then the parents like me and one is a beast. |

Question: My mom doesn't respect my home. Advice please? Posted: 03 Sep 2019 11:41 PM PDT I worked and saved money so that I could move out of my Dad's house. At age 32, I was able to buy my own house. Thank God. Due to financial instability, my Mom had to end up moving in with me. She refuses to follow the rules and organization that I have things kept in my home. She gets an attitude and wants to do things her way. She adds clutter and junk to my home and I am a very organized person. On the weekends she goes to her sister's house or her friend's house to stay, so that I can spend time with my fiance. Every weekend she makes up these reasons why she has to come back by my house: to get a bottle of water, to get a jacket, to heat up some food, etc. I've asked her why she does this when these are not emergencies. Of course she got offended. Also each weekend she doesn't really want to leave so I can have the house to myself and my fiance. (I don't charge her rent.) I used to send her 1 or 2 job applications per week to better paying jobs, and she would get mad at me and say I am overwhelming her. She recently told me she will be moving in with her friend (a woman) soon. The whole time my mom was telling me this, she seemed more as if she wanted me to be sad she was going to be moving out, and less excited for herself. I really don't understand. I am an adult and do not want to live with any of my parents. I love my mom but I want her to have her own place and to depend less on me. |
Question: Telling my aunt off? Posted: 03 Sep 2019 11:30 PM PDT I told my aunt this. Your only brother was autistic. Your only brother had an autistic son. Your only brother had autism, and was married to somebody who had muscular dystrophy, dull intelligence and borderline personality disorder. Your only brother with autism, and an autistic son and a wife with all those issues... Lived in Philadelphia.. For about 20 years before me.. And about 19 years after me.. This entire time... I have never never seen you before.. Until your brother was dying of cancer... That is... So f)uck you man... And I told her not to come by me... Until she tells her daughter, my cousin to stop pretending to have Lupus... Pretending to have a service dog that clearly is not a service dog.. And get off her short skinny a)ss and go visit her cousin. |
Question: What would you choose in this situation? Posted: 03 Sep 2019 09:16 PM PDT I turned down a job and now have no job because my sister didn't bother to look for a roommate so I was pressured by our mom into rooming with her to help her pay her rent. The job I was offered is in a different state and now I (a biologist/chemist) will have to work a low pay retail job because there are no jobs where my sister lives. I just want to die I am throwing my life away for my dumbass family. I try to help the morons but all they do is insist I am doing these things for myself and not for them. Why tf would I turn down a job I wanted to bag groceries in the middle of no where?! They are sucking me dry and so ungrateful I just want to kill myself. I am now stuck in a position where I won't be able to make enough to leave all for my idiot sister who didn't find a roommate after a 8 month noticed that her last roommate would not be staying. And they refuse to see that I do this all for them. when I tried to leave I was told they would be homeless in the streets if I left. I want to shoot my self I have no reason to keep living in this hopeless trap set for me by my family. All they do is try to entrap me. When I tried to move out in my 20s every time I had emnough h to leave they emptied my bank account saying They needed it for "emergency reasons" that they somehow forgot about once the money was gone. I am sick of being used and trapped by people who claim I'm only being self serving when really I am throwing my life away for a bunch of deadbeats |
Question: Depression due to my mother passing family issues & other issues non related? Posted: 03 Sep 2019 07:50 PM PDT I lost my uncle in March 2018 & my mother in August 2019 it's been a tailspin of the change of my life I'm having enough issues coping with my mother's death then to have her sister who didn't get along with her arguing with me daily. Then I'm a die hard Mets fan & they lose a 10-4 lead 11-10 in the 9th inning & honestly combined I can't take life anymore I just don't wanna be here I won't hurt myself at all I'm just so depressed |
Posted: 03 Sep 2019 07:45 PM PDT My mother did say she has not been as bad since dating. |
Posted: 03 Sep 2019 07:08 PM PDT So my sisters husband (my brother-in-law) tried hitting on me while my sister left to the restroom, and I'm unsure what to do about the situation, i told my sister when she came back from the restroom and she did get mad, but i don't have a clue what she thinks or what to do given that we would talk literally everyday and it has been three days since she has talked to me. I did nothing wrong and i can assure it and i don't feel the need to apologize for his disrespect towards my sister and I. Do i have to talk to her first, or wait till she talks to me, or should i have already tried talking to her? Is it normal for her to be like this? I am very angry of everything that happened given that we would see each other everyday day and i miss my nieces and nephew soo much already and i know it will affect everything given the circumstances. |
Question: Is it wrong to cause a fight at a wedding? Posted: 03 Sep 2019 06:53 PM PDT At my cousins wedding there is going to be a "family friend" (even though everyone else in he family hates him) who tried to get with my mother while she was still married and had a huge physical fight with my dad. I was around 7 and it scared the **** out of me, its one of my worst memories. He thinks he's a part of the family and my cousin calls him an uncle. Now that I get to see him again I really just want to scream at him for what he did when I was a child and let him know he is NOT part of our family. |
Posted: 03 Sep 2019 06:50 PM PDT Is it popular amongst teenagers? My son told me that a lot of his friends from his new school are doing this thing called 'Crack'. He told me that it's something like sugar that you inhale in and that it's very enjoyable. He asked me if he could borrow some money from me to buy some from his friends but I don't know if it's an activity that is appropriate on school grounds. |
Question: What am i to my grandparents ? Posted: 03 Sep 2019 05:20 PM PDT Is the term called niece/ nephew? I thought my niece would be my sisters daughter... now im not sure. What am i to my grandpa? |
Question: What should I do about this ? Posted: 03 Sep 2019 05:08 PM PDT My boyfriend's sister has a crush on me but I'm ga I hate telling her that because shes obsessed with me like really obsessed she has pictures of me hanging in her room I don't find it creepy at all. I think its kind of sweet but I hate to tell her I'm not really into girls. What should I do ? |
Question: My grandma doesn't want to see me? Posted: 03 Sep 2019 04:12 PM PDT My grandmother on my fathers side is the only grandparent that's still alive, my other grandparents died before I was born/could remember them. My dad never had a good relationship with my grandmother growing up and for very understandable reasons he decided that he never wants to see her again. My mother tried to build up a relationship between my grandmother and me when I was about 4 years old but she told her that she never wants to see me again because she doesn't want to lose another child. Growing up I was always very sad that I didn't have grandparents and sometimes I would get jealous of other kids that have grandparents. Recently I found out where my grandmother lives and send her a letter (that was about 3 months ago) asking her if she wants to get in contact with me. She never responded... I'm just so scared that I'll regret not trying harder to get in contact with her when she dies some day. I just want to experience having a grandparent as well but maybe thats impossible. I kinda hope someone can tell me what to do because I'm thinking about just showing up on her doorstep and asking her why she abandoned me, because that what it feels like. |
Question: Ex husband getting loaded with our teen son...advice? Posted: 03 Sep 2019 02:48 PM PDT Recently my son was suspended for hitting a wax pen at school...obviously I m not excited about it ...he s 16 but we can deal with that. I took his phone , grounded him (since it resulted n a misdemeanor arrest at school) went thru his room, all that good stuff. Long story short I discovered that he s been getting loaded with his drug addict dad when he is at his dads house. His dad and I are cordial to each other but this ws the ultimate level of disrespect from both of them. The last thing I want is for my kid to end up like his dad. So I pulled way back, havnt let him go to his dads in about a week, and now I m the bad guy. At the end of the day, I m not sure how best to handle this. Told his dad before he sees our kids again we need to have a respectful, adult talk because I don t trust him for ****.I guess my question is...am I doing the right thing here? Its like no one is worried about consequences here... |
