Weddings: Question: My boyfriend said he has thought about walking away a couple of times because we are so different from each other. do opposites attract? |
Posted: 20 Jul 2019 03:31 PM PDT I've seen relationships where people are completly opposite from each other and make it work. but what do you all think about our situation. We had this discussion today and he said we are incompatible. We do both love to watch movies and we are into psychological type of movies and things, but everything else we are opposite. Also my bf said since I have such a dominant personality I need to be with more of a soft and submissive kind of dude. I think he looks at my parents marriage. My mom is the dominant one and my dad is more quiet and submissive. Me and my boyfriend are going on 4 years of being together and we are realizing how different we are, but we both still love each other. We argue almost everytime we are in the same room because we have conflicting opinions about almost everything. first of all, the main difference is that he has kids and i don't. he's 35. i'm 27. he has 3 kids by two woman. My boyfriend used to be extremely controlling and still is to a degree even though he claims hes not. He told me " I like a woman who doesn't want to talk 24/7. We can be in the same room but don't have to talk all day." he's a creature of habit. I'm a creature of change. I love experiencing new places, making new friends, my style and preferences change everyday, I love to experiment with different foods and receipes. My boyfriend doesn't like making new friends. He's content with eating the same food everyday. he said he doesn't like when I cook new foods sometimes. but I get bored and I hate routine and especially eating the same thing everyday is tiresome. he could eat spaghetti everyday. He doesn't know how to cook nor does he want to learn how to cook. His grandmother cooks him the same meal almost everyday and he said he likes it. He said " my grandmother knows what I like and that i don't like to experiement too much. It came to the point where I was telling my boyfriend about how i wanted to make new friends who share the same passions as me and he said " you don't need to make new friends. stick with your old ones. it's dangerous out here don't be naive. my boyfriend and I get in a lot of heated debates where we both have a different opinion. I think he's mainly worried about the sex though. Because he mostly brings up sex and how it's boring, lackluster, and that he craves something that's not so boring. The thing is that I have endomentoris so it's hard for me to not be in pain during sex, i go through with sex to make him happy but ultimately it does not feel good to me because of my health issues, my pelvic area always hurt I have a female friend who doesn't trust him for some reason. she thinks he is cheating and she told me don't be stupid with him My friend said she doesn't trust him because When I was texting him about coming over to my house for dinner sunday he said "3:30 or 4. you need to be done by that time exactly, not just getting started because I have to get up early for work. my boyfriend doesn't like when I said "home" instead of"house" because it makes him think of death. is this weird to anyone? my boyfriend said I need to be with my guy friend who I've known for over 10 years who is soft, submissive, the same age as me, this dude seriously never gets mad, even in situaations where you think he would've got mad at me he's still never got mad at me, he doesn't have kids, nice car, good job, and his own house |
