I recently turned 17 and hate celebrating my birthday. I mean it really makes my stomach turn. I'm in a foster home and only with my current family for around a year. They were so enthusiastic abut celebrating it that I didn't know how to break it to them that I find it difficult to cope with the occasion. I think that I dislike my birthday so much due to unhappy memories of conflict and alcoholism in my childhood. I thought I would be able to manage "celebrating" with my new family. The day finally came and my anxiety was at its peak. The day, as obviously suspected, didn't turn out as volatile as in my previous life. However, I felt so bad, with all these people gathered around me giving me gifts and singing happy birthday and all I wanted to do is go to my room and cry. I felt so guilty every time they looked at me and I didn't know how to react; I couldn't even bring myself to smile. The thoughts of my 18th us already playing on my mind. I don't feel that I would have anything to gain by celebrating my 18th since all birthday's bring me is pain and heartache. However, I am equally concerned that my parents will be offended if I do not and obviously, I will only have one chance at an eighteenth birthday and am worried that I might regret it later in my life. Has anyone else ever had a retail worker who told you that you look like someone else? What was your reaction? Personally, I get this all the time and it annoys/bothers me a lot. I hate it when people tell me I look like someone else (because I do not know if they really look like me and they could be unattractive as well), I just want to look like me and look like nobody else, I just want to look unique.

I met this girl 7 months ago through the dating app tinder. We have been dating ever since. So John (alias name) is a high-school acquaintance of mine who ended up in the same college as me. We also ended up in the same class. All purely coincidental. I have been debating whether I should tell him there is a quiz tomorrow in class. He is the type of student that doesn't come to class. I don't owe him anything, and he doesn't owe me anything. My mom spends pretty much all her time and money on her boyfriend. She always says "I have no money" cuz it s always going to them so they can go out to sports games & out to eat etc. I rarely see her(an hour or two each day). She always says she s broke when I ask for things that are basic human need (like socks) she actually said no to buying me socks cuz she "didn t have any money". before he was in the picture she had no money problems. I know I shoudnt care but I do, my roommate comes home almost every day well, yes, drunk, I asked him the other day if he was drunk he said just a bit tipsy but couldn't speak properly, to me thats drunk. I'll try to make this brief. My mom passed away a year ago. My younger brother, while an adult, is chronically ill and can't work. Our dad just doesn't do much and has battled depression for many years as well. He and my brother don't always see eye to eye and Dad can't/doesn't know how to help my brother. Both of them tell me how much they appreciate all I do for them. Like Netflix bingeing with my bro, cleaning, buying groceries and lunches, taking my bro to his doctor appointments, taking care if the pets etc. Meanwhile, I feel like I can't move forward iny own life. I feel trapped! I love them and I wanna help but I don't know what to do about my own life. I wanna work or go to college or something. Maybe move out. With this and other added stress in life, I'm also finding it hard to stay away from old coping mechanisms/adictions. I feel very unproductive and completely trapped in this life. Any ideas? Help me.

My 8th grade English teacher and i are (were idk) close. Last week was my last day of 8th grade, and I'm still sorta sad about not being in middle school anymore. Anyways...Me and her talk about a lot of stuff. I have really bad anxiety and get really bad panic attacks...so I usually went to her when I needed help. Most of the stuff I told her no one knows about. She's in her 50's and she's like my 2 grandma. And I just miss her so much...I wanna email her but I don't want to annoy her, or make her panic. Do you take a licensed counselor who is overweight's advice the same as you would a healthy weight counselor? Or, do you see this person as if she can't regulate her own eating habits, how can she help me with my issues? Please explain why you feel the way you do. Thanks in advance

What are some things I need to work on?

My bestfriend and his girlfriend recently broke up. So he came to visit me before he left back home to GA (his ex doesn't like me so he didn't see me and vice versa). He told me everything on why they broke up and it was mainly because she was jealous of me and him and how close we are and that she doesn't like me and wouldn't say anything else but that. They were always arguing and she got really drunk one night and was gonna do something really stupid and got stupid with him. All he would tell me was that she was gonna message me and send me pictures and that she was going to do other stuff but he didn't want to tell me the rest. And the he wasn't going to let her ruin the relationship me and him have. Everytime he would get quiet I would change the subject and make conversation and we ended up having a full conversation about guns and he was showing me videos and telling me about simulation they did that week (He's in the US Army). He was surprised about a couple of things that came out of my mouth that day. He asked me if my mom has every shot a gun and I told him. He asked if my dad ever owned one and I told him. He asked if I ever shot a gun, i told him no but that i always wanted to but never got a chance to go to a shooting range and shoot one. Then he told me he will take me one day he's in town and we can get lunch after. He's not one to plan ANYTHING at all. After he told me he's talking to this girl All he told me was that she's white and has pretty eyes

So lately I have been feeling really sad & insecure. I am 20 now, but I have been insecure 4ever. A big issue of my insecurity is my nose. I have thick long hair, big eyes & lips, but my nose ruins my face. I am thin so the insecurity was never 4 my body. I got a nose job 2 years ago, it looks better but not good. I am the type of person who gets confidence from others.. Over the summer I am living with my mom & grandparents are visiting. My grandpa is very social. Every time we go out he is constantly complimenting all kids my age- saying how beautiful they are. He s always complimenting my mom, my aunt.. My 2 younger cousins were visiting us & he would tell them how handsome they are daily & ask me 2 "aren t they so handsome? Wow seriously look at their eyes.. Don t they look like models?" I can recall maybe 1 time that he said me "ur makeup looks nice" or "you actually look pretty today". It rly hurts me, especially since I have to live with him.I find myself constantly trying 2 impress him & others around me. Why won t he say it to me me? Just 2 make me feel good, even if he doesn t believe it. I took a pic today of myself all dolled up and even edited it to impress him.. He replies"interesting pic"How do I feel better about myself & stop trying 2 feed off others acceptance? I have a rhinoplasty revision scheduled for 7 mths from now but that is a long way away..

I will try to keep this brief as possible but highlight the key points; I was physically and sexually abused by my siblings. Sexually abused by one sibling. Parents were strict & I was treated differently being female. I left home in late teens and ended up having two abortions, one was quite early the other was late unfortuantely, lived on the streets a few times, boyfriend was into drugs and friends. I returned home vowing not to live like that again but beat myself up mentally for 10 years for my abortions. I got a job and got my studies done. Kept away from guys, was too afraid after what happene earlier in life. So I turned to porn and pleasing myself. Sometimes watching porn vids hidden in parents room or going online. Online I could not access porn as i would have to pay but had no credit card so tried to look for free sites,one time this pop up came or something of humans doing things with animals and I was shocked by it. Never thought this existed. Another time I saw advertisments of cartoon porn of simpsons characters, again ignored it and ended up playing sex games online instead. Recently my past came up,triggered the stigma i received from friend. Last year when i was looking online for adult porn i saw something on google images which freaked me out,I reported to the Internet Watch Foundation. I feel traumatized by the images i saw by accident &even so the stigma i got from friends who were supposd to help me heal from the abuse i suffered when young. am i bad?

Recently my girlfriend (20) made an Instagram and her cousin (23) who lives in Mexico followed her and direct messages her. They've only met once I guess when she went to visit there back when she was 14. Anyways they were direct messaging for days and catching up supposedly. So as I'm digging around I see she had deleted some of the messages and pictures she sent but I notice he's calling her beautiful and flirting with her. I confronted her about it today and she claimed she told him to stop talking to her that way and that she sent the picture "mindelessly" she swears she's not sexually attracted to him but I don't know what to think....we've been together for 3 years and she's always been faithful, I'm actually the one that's screwed up and tested her trust.
