Yesterday I cried in public because my mom forced me to get this ugly haircut, and I kept telling her I didnt want it, but she didnt listen and she dragged me to the chair. I cried like the big baby I am, and my mom called me an autistic spoiled brat that cant get over it. (I'm NOT autistic) today, she told me that my tantrums yesterdayw ere unacceptable and she said that I couldn't make my own decisions because I am still living in their house. They said when I'm 18 I could move out of the house and start making my own decisions. Is it normal for kids to let their parents make their decisions for them like what haircut to get? 5-6 years ago, I went on vacation. To Florida to visit my grandma with my sister, mom, aunt and cousins. The neighbor was a lesbian. My mom hungout with her a lot while we were down there. ( I liked her, she was nice/ pretty cool.) well right before we left, my mom pulled me and my sister aside. And told us she wasn't coming back to st.louis with us. So, I m 15 years old. For a little background info...My parents never married but we re split up finally About 4 years ago. My dad is living about 4 hours away and still is in contact with me everyday and I love and miss him. My mom WILL NOT let me spend weekends with him nor his fiancé. When I was little I used to "be mean" to my sister who is 19 now and has depression because of me. Even though I was like 7. My mom Blames it ALL on my dad and so does my sister. I have a boyfriend and my mom basically tells me we won t last even though he s the only one holding me When my mom is beating me down and I feel like killing myself. I dont know why, but i feel inconvenience in any case with my father. I avoid to talk to him, and when i do, it is only about very essential issues, i never show to him emotion and never say i love you or i admire you because i find it extremely difficult and i dont know if i should tell him stuff like that. Though, i speak with my mother more, i express my views to her more often, and i am looking forward to telling my father especially that hasnt tought me anything essential i would leave him one day for ever. Also if happens and shout at me, (very rarely) i remember this for a long time and avoid him all the time. My ex-alcoholic dad is separated from my mum and they don't talk and juggling parents can be a chore My mum expects me to look after my older brother (mildly disabled) at weekends on my downtime and gives me the mild guilt trips. My brother is being very codependent and I have to lie about certain activities I do in my spare time, in case he feels left out. I'm a 21 y/o who goes to community college and works. Unfortunately, I won't be able to move out of my parent's house for at least another year. I have a mother who complains about everything and is very negative. She always yells at me and starts an argument over the smallest things that aren't even a big deal. She'll then turn around and say that I'm the one who starts the arguments when it really is her. She even called me stupid yesterday (she calls everyone stupid) and then said she didn't! My mom is also very anti-alcohol to the point where I can't even have one beer at home without her telling me how many I'm allowed to have. She even starts screaming at the neighbors if they're drinking beer on the porch minding their own business and calls the police. The police have come out numerous times only to find that what they're doing is completely legal. I was a little creeped out the other night when she started yet another argument with me about how I never have the same opinion as her and she said she was gonna take me to the hospital to get mentally evaluated because of it. I'm a different person with different opinions. I'm optimistic and she's negative. Now don't get me wrong, I love my mom and I'm a good person, but you simply can't impress her. She'll find something else to complain about.

I got 4 A's 1 A*,and a C in math, Physics, Biology and English. I have only told my mom about the A's and maths, not anything else. But my mom is extremely uptight about marks and she was fine with the A's but obviously not math, because in her book getting a C is worse than killing someone apprently. So im on vacation for a month in to see my dad, and he has a wife with 4 kids, a 10 yr old and three 6 yr olds. When theyre at summer school and my step mom is gone I usually sit around upstairs and stuff but when they get home I really dont want to be around them, so I go outside or in my room for most of the time. I just really dislike commotion and im sitting outside right now. Im 14. I dont know if its bad that I do this. Im a social person at school and back where I usually live. Im not a shy person. I have these episodes where I talk to myself and I have no idea what's going on. It lasts less then five minutes and then I come back to normal. It happens once a month or sometimes once in a year or two. It's psychological I heard. Anyway, I am a college student now and it happened in class today during lecture. No one said anything to be when I got back to normal and I don't know what happened. I didn't ask anyone and no one asked me but at the same time I'm scared. I work with my Aunt (not blood-related) who is married to my Uncle (my moms brother). It is pretty common knowledge at work that my Aunt has slept with more than a couple guys at work, and it is pretty much a fact that she has cheated. She knows that I have some knowledge of this, and she tries to distance herself at work. Recently, I think she has said something to my uncle to get him to hate me or not talk to me (we were very close before this). My birthday just passed and my uncle didn't call me or anything. Ok, so I am in but of a situation right now. Recently my mom has been saying that I am really hard to talk to and that besides school and courses I don't talk about anything else. She's say that we need to talk about life in general more and I'm like okay so what do you want to talk about? And she says I don't know you tell me something and what other people talk about. My name is Trinity, this question is actually related to me. I am 13 and this recently happened to me the other night. Me and my sister and brother are not very close anymore but they are close, they live together. So I spent the night at my sisters so I could go to something in the morning with her. My brothers friends was over which I was exited about, I liked him. But I walked into the kitchen and he told me to go in a different room or something. I didn't know why but then I saw in the reflection of the window, I'm nosey, that he was doing drugs. I kind of figured it out in my head bc he had a dollar on the table folded and he was just, u know doing what ppl do when they "snort" it. I started freaking out. My brother and sister were both there and I was about to scream. Nobody was stopping him it was like they didn't care I was spending the night. I told my sister I was going to bed now and I went in her room and started crying. I don't know why I was upset. I was just scared and I was stuck there for the rest of the night. Like any son, or some I don't like to go to every place my mom wants me to accompany her. I understand that it is selfish of me and hate that I'm let that take over. Having said that, if it's to the store, I may not like it but I will go. If it's to the city I feel the same with a bit more of not liking it. Can someone tell me what my rights are as a grandparent. I have a very smart son but he always struggled with his attention and had trouble in school and with jobs. He married a woman 23 years ago. After they were married I told my DIL that they should not have children due to his disability. She didn't listen to me and had a child anyway. Then, both my daughters and I told her several times that she should not have any more children because they would be disabled like their dad. She was rude to us and said her husband didn't have a genetic disability but he had attention issues due to the way he was raised and her kids would be fine. We thought she was very rude so we had nothing to do with her or her two kids. We never visited and my son never much spoke of them. Now 22 years later I find out that my oldest grand daughter is off to a prestigious medical school and my other grand daughter graduated valedictorian of her high school. I sent the oldest one a graduation gift and spoke to her on the phone. I told her she needs to call me so I can tell her more about myself. It turns out neither my son or DIL has told the girls anything about our side of the family. She was very nice and gracious on the phone but I have never heard back from her. What are my rights as a grand father to see these girls. I feel that since my son has disabilities it was my DIL's job to establish the relationship with our family and she did not. How do I make my grand daughters see me now? I think you all misunderstand. I was nice when I told her not to have kids. She had a high powered corporate job and she was responsible for everything in their lives since he has trouble getting things done. Kids, especially ones with disabilities would have been too much. I was being kind, she was rude to me. The point is they know nothing about his side of the family and they need to learn about their other half.

I'm 23 and in the army. I've always helped with the bills more than I should've. I would pay for my moms personal bills on top of over half of the untilities. My mom and dad don't have jobs. I just graduated bootcamp and at my graduation she asked me for $400. I gave it to her but I told her that I wouldn't be giving her anymore. She scoffed. The thing is I never minded helping out but they pay for all my 30 year old brothers rent, utilities, legal bills(he's a druggy and has a few DUI's) and groceries. He's never paid for anything his whole life and they are enablers. My wife has pointed this out for years and we recently got married. We want to be saving money for trips together and having a savings for whatever happens in the future. I don't understand why my mom thinks I should feel bad?

I was laid off from my job 3 months ago. I'm getting unemployment but I'm really struggling with 1 particular bill for a heart medication I need . I asked my sister if I could borrow $100 and I promised to pay her back as soon as I could. She flipped out and told me "You' got laid off from a job there's obviously something wrong with you people don't just get "laid off" you likely did something wrong. She said It's been 3 months. I live in the state of Arizona. My father abuses alcohol horribly. This probably started about 5 years ago. He drinks a whole bottle of vodka every single night. He is the greatest guy with an awesome personality when he is sober. He owns his own company and gets up to work almost every morning, sometimes he is too hung over and a complete *** and won't go to work. When he drinks he turns into a different person. He is vicious, mean, has no emotions, lacks empathy, egotistical (while drinking he thinks he's the greatest thing ever), and abusive. He doesn't physically hurt my mother, me, or my sisters but he is extremely emotionally abusive. It is ruining are family and we just don't know what to do. He has three brothers and none of them will talk to him anymore because he has sent them horrible texts and voicemails when he is drunk, he has also done this to all his friends, so again he has no more friends. We try to talk to him about this problem when he is sober and he always apologizes and says he knows he has to stop, but doesn't do anything about it. Doctors has prescribed him xanax to help the drinking urge but he does not use it. When my mom and dad fight about his drinking problem, while he's drunk he will take off driving drunk and we are always so scared he is going to hurt someone else, hurt himself, or get a DUI. we don't know what to do. He is a grown man so its not like we can just send him to rehab but need to find a way to get him committed.

My mom- a stay at home mom who has history of cheating on my mom. I caught her sexting someone. But I kept it a secret and we haven't talked about it since. My dad- always at work, or playing gigs for his band, or on the computer buying band gear and playing video games. My brother- only comes down stairs for dinner, stays up all night playing video games. Sometimes he gets violent and breaks his computer. Me- My mom and I have a good relationship. I am more of a social person so I am always out with friends or in the recording room when dad isn't there. My mom favors me over my brother because he is anti social. I really don't think this is a functional family..

My family is at the worst condition! My sister is fat and everyone abuses/laughs at her. She s already in depression and we had to shift to a new country to get her out of depression but instead its getting worse. So heres what happened after which Im asking: My sister was taking a bath, the tank got full and no water was coming out of the tank, I came to check whats going on and she was in the bathroom wasting water and i kinda raged and said a few mean stuff like your fat so water cant get down so its getting wasted. Then my mom came, hit me in the nose for seeing my sis naked, hit my sister (remember that my mom is a very happy person and never hits anyone) My nose started bleeding and i ran to get a cold pack to stop my nose from bleeding. My moms talking that she wished none of us were alive and they wish we were dead and she and my dad would be in a jungle. My sister was saying that there was no point of living anymore. Im fine and i didn t feel bad for my sister because she does this alot of time because she has depression but seeing my mom it was terrible specially because she s happy all the time. We were a happy family but now its turned into a hellhole. Me and my dad try to calm both of the woman in the family. Someone tell me what to do. (My sister goes to the psychologist) please help!!

Question: I am a new father and i'm afraid i could be overprotective of her...?

i can tell already that i will be to protective her. especially as a baby, up til a young child. whenever my child starts walking she would always be in front of me so i see her. in public when she's with me, i couldn't let her out of my site. she's most precious to me. i love my baby girl too much. but is it overprotective if i always want her close to me and restrict her from wondering to certain places, or letting her do some stuff by herself? i mean at a very young age. what is considered over protective?

When we get in an argument my mom is yelling at the top of her lungs at me I didn't do anything terrible it's mainly simple things such as chores ya know small things like that so when we are arguing and it doesn't matter if I'm in the wrong or not she yells and she's loud I mean really loud I'm practically whispering and I'm RIGHT NEXT TO HER she doesn't need to yell to get it into my head it make things way better when we can both talk it out. I almost sometimes just wanna walk away from her because she keeps on yelling so loud and I can't take it and I just want her to shut up and forget about what we are arguing about so she can shut up I don't tell her that I want her to shut up but I do ask "can you please please not yell" because I feel like if I ask like this "can you stop yelling" she'll get louder if that's even possible but she just goes "THATS HOW I TALK" and it just makes it worse you CAN control how loud you speak I hate it when people do that when they say "I can't control it" you can you just refuse not to because you want to keep on yelling because you think that's the only way someone is going to listen to you its not like you have no control at all over how loud you can be..is there a way I can talk to mom about this and not have her get mad because she'll think I'm being disrespectful because I'm asking her if she can maybe stop yelling everytime we talk..I just wish when we have arguments we can both use inside voices it would be better for both of us.

My mom over the past few months has allowed her roommates daughter and her boyfriend to move into a small room in the garage. I absolutely hate them being here. I never had a problem with her roommate or her roommate and their daughter visiting every weekend but these people moving in and living with us is too much. They give me **** because I love animals or bother me when I am playing Xbox at night. They don't pay rent and the only real thing they have done since they got here was mow the lawn. I am sick of it and my mom knows but doesn't care.

I talk with them even tho I barely know them,gosh that's so awkward.But he makes me talk with them when I am working my *** off,I fking have to do all the fking works,I am busy as fk ,my hands are dirty...... Im 26 yo female and living with my family.My mom treat my sister better than me.If my sister doesnt come out from room for dinner,my mom would keep food for her and care about her. If Im fall asleep or havent eat yet,she never leave any pieces food for me. No food to eat and were finished.Im not special for my mom.I bought furniture and everything for my house,but she still doesnt appreciate me.I treat my mom very nice and try to talk to her.But she seem like ignoring me and tell me her story.I listen to her problem but she never listen to mine.I clean the house and kitchen,because i know she would be comfortable when cooking in the kitchen.I do my best for my mom but she never appreciate me or treat me special or care for me..but she look at me down and point if i have any flaws.I'm so sad and deep inside from my heart i was so hurt everyday.I crying and sometimes want to run away from all of this.I have had this situation since I was teenager until adult.I have degree and job,but it just contract job.What should I do guys?What is the best thing i can do?

Im 13 yr old girl and by brother is 9 so there is a bit of a age difference. So ever since he has been born he has been so annoying. When my parents are around he is like a angel to me he is so nice and awesome but right when they leave he starts acting all bossy and rude. So I tell my parents about how he is all mean behind their back and they don't believe me. This is what is happening now..... My brother, my Manny, my aunt and I are at my aunts house and any chance he gets he is a jerk. This morning I woke up to my brother punching me in the arm really hard I told him to stop and he just kept doing it eventually my Nanny called us for breakfast and he ran out of the room since we are sharing a room. Then after breakfast I want back into the room to go on my phone. And he came to. All I was trying to do was text MY MOM so he started throwing this yoga ball at me. I thought to myself u know what I'm don't with this so I threw it back at him it knocked him over them I helped him up and punched him in the arm. That was a bad idea cause he just SPIT in my face then stated to hit me with my HAIR BRUSH I had no clue why to do I can't tell on him cause he would just turn the story around and I would get in trouble. The last thing he did was throw my phone across the room. Im hiding in the bathroom right now. What do I do I HAVE TO BE WITH HIM FOR THE NEXT 4 DAYS then when I get home I can just go to my friends please help me please

Ok . So my parents are always fighting and for the stupidest things ever . The food is salty , they fight, the remote isn't working , they fight, mom bought a 50 dollars shirt , they fight. I'm sick of this . And not only this I'm currently a university freshman and i have two younger siblings who're always moody , like you can be best friends with them and the next second you're their enemy and I don't mean it like a normal kind of enemy , i mean it like they won't talk to me for days . I feel like i'm the only sane person in this family . I hate all of them , I don't recall anytime when we're all happy. This is how a conversation goes at our house . Me : hey . Family : silence and my brother's glares . Me: how was your day ? Family: silence and shrugs . Me irritated af : why won't you answer ? Family: starts arguing . I'm really really tired of this . I'm not usually depressed but lately I can't help but feel like that . I never want to go home from uni because i know I'll be facing these nut jobs . We lived with them for a brief period and moved out when son was 1 1/2. They got close to him during that time. I understand they love him and don t want to.hurt them but they are ridiculous. If we are going to same restaurant in different cars they will ask if my son can ride with them. And last time we ate out with them they were sat already, and came and grabbed son from us while we were in line to order. That sat him between them and acted like they were his parents. My father in law told my mil to feed him and they sat him on their laps and ****. It really bothers me, and it was father s day! My son should ve sat with his father my husband, who never says anything! But in the car he complained about their behavior. I love them and they help us often but I feel like they don t respect boundaries or respect our feelings. I don t want to hurt them but not sure if its worth addressing. Has anyone had this issue?

My Sister is known to be around boys a lot. She Doesn t Do Nothing Wrong Because, I am with her 24/7. She is like my bestfriend. We Are about 10 months apart. And my dad texently found out that we hang around Boys. (We don t be outside ******* or anything) when we are outside we are just talking. My (sister isn t actually my sister.) but I have known her since I was 2) dad says that "she is a hoe" "she will be pregnant by 16" "you are going to be like (my sister) if you keep doing what you are doing" and every time he sees me he reminds me that I didn t tell him about me hanging around guys. He said that it is disappointing and that no child of his would do anything like that. But what have we done. He seriously says way worse about my sister. And I asked him not to talk about my sister around me like he does and he said he is grown he does what he want. He said that it s not "fair" that I asked him to stop talking about my sister and I don t tell her to stop talking about him. But I don t need her to stop talking about him because she doesn t. I am starting to question my relationship with my dad. I don t like the way he controls me. It feels like I have no life. He is super controlling and now every time I hear his name i feel disgusted. lately my mom has been acting so much like a dick, every time I do anything, she would yell at me like I ******* murdered a guy, like for example once she told me to bring her a plastic bag then I brought her one, but it was not big enough so she started yelling at me and I was grounded, when I was 6 years old she was telling me you're a man now and men don't cry and who the **** tells that to a 6 year old? I'm 15 and she still tells me that, she is abusive as hell. She made my life hell, and every time I say anything to her she would call me an idiot and that I should shut up, and literally every time she sees me watching anything on the internet like Youtube, Netflix, or literally anything else she would yell in an incredible high voice "you're watching porn aren't you?" and when I say no she says "give me your phone" then watch the entire video of what I was watching then say that it is making me go crazy and that it will make me kill someone and go to jail one day and because of her I have tried to commit suicide twice and she does not realize how she is ruining my life where I live child abuse is considered normal and people here regularly hit their children and it is not illegal here, so please can you give me a solution other can get help?

Here are the facts: - I'm turning 19 and I'm Asian - Recently, my mum's imposed a 6pm curfew. She doesn't want me going out at night yet she used to let me all the time, the latest being 12am. She's even let me go on a trip for 4 days with friends in the past. I would think the natural path would be to loosen on restrictions, not tighten on them. - I started uni this year, a time I think it's necessary to do this sort of stuff. All my friends are allowed to go out late at night and my cousin, who's my age, is allowed to as well. - The only reason she's given for this is that she doesn't want me to and that apparently girls shouldn't be going out late at night. - I've tried to reason with her in every possible way, but apparently she lacks listening skills and logic - My friend's throwing a party this week and I wanna stay over but she won't let me. I've addressed several points, including those above, yet she still won't budge. What should I do? I forgot to mention that I'm in uni and I don't have a job at the moment. I'm not financially independent.
