Question: Do you think it’s odd to be friends with someone much older than you? Posted: 04 Sep 2019 05:55 PM PDT I'm a 21 year old man and my best friend is a woman in her 40s. |
Question: I don't fit in at my college? Posted: 04 Sep 2019 05:36 PM PDT Im a sophomore and I feel like I don't fit in at my college. I am kind of a basic white girl and I have the desire to do well academically. A lot of the students here only care about partying or don't care too much about their grades. I tried befriending other girls but as soon as they find out I don't smoke or drink they kind of just have no interest in becoming friends after that. How can I make friends? I don't do sports and I feel I am so busy with classes that I cannot join a club. |
Question: Should I say goodbye to a friend I’m cutting off or should I just disappear? Posted: 04 Sep 2019 04:11 PM PDT My best friend and I have known each other for 6 years but the last year has just been super toxic. We don't care about each other and we always argue about stupid crap. He never responds when I try to ask him about it but he always responds to argue or call me names. I'm just done with him. Should I say goodbye or just cut him off and block him on all social media? |
Question: Would he still do these things if he wasn’t interested? Posted: 04 Sep 2019 03:59 PM PDT he switched to coffee after i said i dont like energy drinks and they're bad for you, he started working out after I said I go to the gym he started working out because i said his friend looked round, he fidgets when talking to me sometimes, takes deep breath, also one day he said "i need to lower my walls, and that no one can say anything to me... not even my man and smiled looking down. He then said i have walls and need to lower them. I said yes I don't let anyone in because no one is on my level. he said yes no one's on his level either. I said so how do you recommend to lower my walls he said "idk i have walls too" is this strange or not? Would he still do these things and just appreciates woman's point of view? |
Question: My friend needs help getting her friend out of an abusive household? Posted: 04 Sep 2019 02:29 PM PDT A friend of mine who lives in Russia is trying to help her friend get out of an abusive home from her mother and her boyfriend. Her friend is 16 years old and I am trying to help her friend out. What she had told me that two weeks ago her mom beaten her until blood came. She did run away to her sister house in another city. But sadly it didn't help her at all. Soon her mom and boyfriend came to the city that she was at and wasn't allowed to go out and use the phone for more than a week All the year her friend's mom would tease her mentally, beating her, screamed at her and she even grabbed her hair and put her face into the soup. Her mom can suddenly start to yell at her and beat her for no reason. The most stupid thing is that the only thing that can the government in her country do with beating up children is the arrest for less than a month. Her friend is 16 and she actually can't do anything. What's even worse than her mom tells her that she will force her to marry a religious man when she turns 18. Her friend is planning to save u money to move away from the abused household. I have to give her some hotlines to help her out. Is there a way to get her out of there? |
Question: I need some advice about a friend of mine.? Posted: 04 Sep 2019 02:04 PM PDT We've been friends our entire lives and we ended up at the same high school. We live close so we commute to school together. I'm an introvert and I like having my space. She doesn't seem to understand this and takes it as me being a hermit or something. She often makes "jokes" about it and when I tell her that it hurts my feelings she brushes me off and says "Can't you take a joke?" I tend to be quiet on the bus ride home and I usually don't say much because she ends up dominating the conversation. If I don't have anything interesting or useful to add to the conversation I don't say anything at all. I remember she once called me "emotionless" because as she was complaining about something stupid I had spaced out. This really hurt my feelings and I'm still upset about it. But when I tried to tell her that she brushed me off and changed the subject. I feel like I'm always overshadowed and ignored by her and that she never actually listens to me or cares about what I have to say. This isn't to say she's some monster or that we don't have good times together because she's not and we do. But the good times are sporadic and I feel suffocated in her presence. I don't want to just ghost her and I don't think there's much of a point explaining how I feel. I don't want to throw away all those years of friendship or cut her out of my life, but I don't know what to do. |
Question: Depressed without best friend? Posted: 04 Sep 2019 11:17 AM PDT Hello, I'm a 19 year old sophomore at college. I got into a great school, and I'm very proud of myself for that. I'm also planning on rushing a sorority this semester and I like my classes and roommates so I SHOULD be happy, and yet I still have this feeling of anxiety and loneliness. And I know its because my best friend isn't with me.. me and her have been through so much together, we wouldn't still be alive if it weren't for each other (we've been through a lot of stupid ****) But, she is still a senior in high school so I'm away while she's home. I go to school an hour away with bad reception so we can't really call each other, and it's almost like I have this need to see her everyday..I can't really explain it. I love her so so much that whenever I can't see her it makes me sad, and lately I've been taking a bunch of naps and wanting to stay in my room due to my sadness of her not being here with me. My friends at college and my boyfriend can't really measure up to me and her's bond. Aside from my family, I've never had a friend or significant other who made me feel this way before..I get butterflies whenever we hangout because I'm so excited..how do I cope with her absence? |
Question: How could I have answered my co workers question without getting in trouble? Posted: 04 Sep 2019 10:54 AM PDT I was at a restaurant waiting to be seated for lunch with 3 of my female co workers. Walking out of the restaurant was this gorgeous woman. She had a figure to die for. 36G would be my guess. She was showing a lot of cleavage. She came over to me and gave me a hug and said "It is great to see you again George. How have you been"? We just talked for a few minutes and then we were seated in the restaurant. Just before we parted, she gave me her card and said "let's have lunch some time to catch up on old times". The last thing she said was "We sure had fun in the back seat of your car when we were in high school didn't we"? My co workers immediately said who was that beautiful woman. I told them it was an old high school girlfriend from 20 years ago. They wanted to know what I was doing in the back seat of my car with her. Can someone suggest a answer to their question that would not make me look bad to my friends? I think everyone reading this knows what I was doing in the back seat of my car but I can't tell them that. I thought I might tell them we were reading the bible. Do you think they would believe that? |

Question: Why my friend never text first even though she cares so much???? Posted: 04 Sep 2019 09:55 AM PDT So this woman and I have the healthiest connection I have ever had since my middle school best friend. However, she never start the communication. I mean she is the one who started the friendship, she was the one who put so much efforts to get close to me and get to know me and get me to trust her. She actually give me so much time whenever I needed her even though se is busy at work. She would even ask me to call her when I need an advice and take my call while she is at work and super busy. She asked people many time to treat me better. She always say good things about me and push me to be better. She tried multiple times to help me when no one did. When I text her she responds super fast within minutes to half hour. I know how busy she is so one time she suggested to meet for lunch I could not follow through I was working weekends and I knew that her job gave new projects so I felt bad to ask her to meet during the week. She always happy and proud when I am happy and always upset when something bad happen to me. If she cares this much why she can't start texting me first. |
Question: Best friend keeps inviting my over then changing her mind? Posted: 04 Sep 2019 06:58 AM PDT So my friend keeps telling to me come over to her house and I'm always up for going to her house cus she's my best friend, but then when it comes to the day we planned she always bails, like I was supposed to go today and then randomly she said not to come today but go another day, this is the third time she has done this, would you be annoyed at this too because it's really starting to get on my nerves. Also, I go to uni in a few weeks so we won't see each other again for ages. |
Question: Would I get in trouble for drinking?? Posted: 04 Sep 2019 06:28 AM PDT I'm 19y/o and my friends keep trying to get me to drink with them saying its normal for guys to drink underage so that they can build a tolerance b4 they turn 21 birthday. While that makes sense and all, I just worry I might get in trouble. Most of them are over 21 and whenever we hang out, especially at night they call me names and make it seem like I'm being a chicken about it. I figured I'll just cave this weekend at a friends house but I really really dont want to get in trouble, or for my parents to find out. |
Posted: 04 Sep 2019 05:44 AM PDT I'm 21, almost 22 and a 15 y/o of the opposite gender constantly messages and calls me on an app. This person is aware of my age as I am an honest person and mentioned it, thinking after that they would no longer talk to me, however they still do on a daily basis. I personally feel that it's wrong to have these friendships, even online, with such age gaps. We are also 5,000 miles apart. I know that if I had a 21 y/o friend online when I was 15, my parents would have been angry. I'm not a creepo or anything and jus the thought of being viewed that way disgusts me because I know myself and I know I'm not that person. Unfortunately, I'm also too nice to just ignore calls from someone who likes talking to me as a friend and seeks advice from me about life. It just feels wrong to me and I'm not sure how else to explain it. I just want to leave the kid alone. I have never once initiated a call and do not plan to. We have had hour long conversations and it just seems like any other friend, but remembering the age makes me feel wrong inside and uncomfortable. Am I overreacting? |
Question: Is this friend toxic to me? Should i believe him? Posted: 04 Sep 2019 05:24 AM PDT I asked one friend of mine what he thinks of me as a person. He said I'm a person who people would make fun of. I asked him why does he think they would do that. Then he said it's because I'm abnormal.Thd way i walk and many other things about me are weird and that's why people would make fun of me. This really hurt me. But i dont think there is anything weird or wrong about me.But it is true that i do get bullied in school and people do make fun of me. |

Question: Very nosy friend help !!!!? Posted: 04 Sep 2019 03:23 AM PDT so to start things off I am very private person that i don't share everything especially with judge mental people. so I have a friend that I have been friends for the past 15 years. I never share personal things with her because she judges me. so For years she has been blocking and un blocking me on facebook when she is mad and when she gets un mad. so when we are back friends on fb I hide my posts from her because of her jealousy and judgemental thoughts. so today I found out she unfriended me due to us having a argument so i knew she couldn't see my posts so she sent me screenshots of posts I been making and said see i know u been hiding posts from me. I think she has been watching me from a fake page. but the issue is I added so many people I don't know which page could be her. why is she going through all of these crazy measures to catch me writing things on fb that I choose not to share with her ? and she has nerve to try to confront about my posts that she has no permission to me seeing ??? |
Question: How can I make more friends in college? Posted: 04 Sep 2019 02:46 AM PDT I'm going to be 27 soon... but weirdly I don't have any friends anymore since I moved with my parents to a different town. And I never got the chance to have the "classic" college dorm experience, since it was too expensive for us to do. But I'm going to be moving soon into college apartments which hopefully will help. I'm not sure though if I should move into a single apartment by myself. Or if I should get a single apartment with my own room instead. I really like my alone time. But I do want to make new and more friends again... would having a roommate at least be my best bet for finding 1 friend at first? If you make a friend in class, how would you hang out with them outside of studying etc.. in college? Because everyone has their own schedules anyway... do people just make it work if they click with each other? I always usually have/find one person I click with in a class, but we never become life long friends or anything. Sometimes we add each other on facebook but that's about it... I'm a nice person who's also friendly and outgoing once you get to know me. But I'm not sure why friends don't stick around... I honestly thought I would have more friends in college. Also I'm a girl if this matters. In my hometown I would have friends since elementary school all the way through highschool. Some of my elementary school friends have moved away and we somehow just drifted apart. But has anyone had a similar experience in college where they've had trouble making friends? Can you make actual friends in clubs in school/college? And when I transfer to my new college should I find a club to join too? Thanks in advance. |

Question: Does it sound like my male friend is playing games? or am I over-analyzing? 10 pts? Posted: 03 Sep 2019 11:52 PM PDT a man I have been chatting with online does something I find a bit strange... He will message me in a long email and if I dont respond within a few days he will send me a message to rush me to respond and when I politefully respond back at that point he than takes his time to send me another email. so in other words he rushes a response from me but than does not offer the same swift response back in turn himself. Am I over-analyzing? or does he sound like he is playing a game? 10 pts |
Question: Is it ok to call a friend out on a "lie" if you think it is a significant issue? Posted: 03 Sep 2019 11:05 PM PDT Ok, so one of my best guy friends (platonic) has the exact same medical condition that I do. I say this because its hard for him to tell me a lie about his "issues" since I know a lot about the condition. Anyway, he literally just told me the other day that he wasn't taking enough of his medication for his condition, and he was even showing symptoms of his disorder (that occur if you don't take your meds). This is a serious life threatening disease. I asked him why he hasn't been taking his meds, and he said that he doesn't have enough money for his medications because of his spending habits (he has a gabling and strip club spending problem). So, instead of spending on medical necessities, he blows his cash in strip cIubs and gambling. I told him that he needs to get help for those issues and start saving for his medical condition instead of blowing his money. LITERALLY two days later, he tries to change his story explaining that his doctor approved of him a very small amount of his meds. I know that the dosage he is taking isn't enough to treat his condition YET he tries to lie claiming that his doctor now has approved of the small dosage so he can save money. I called him out on his BS. Even as a friend, I told him I know he is lying to me. He got a little offended but changed the subject. I didn't push it, but he I know he isn't being honest. Its a problem! How I do a manage this issue as a friend? Do you end a friendship if that person continues to lie? |

Question: Is this a good idea? Posted: 03 Sep 2019 09:18 PM PDT I had a best friend for over 10 years but when we were in 9th grade we got in an argument and we stopped being friends and I miss her a lot and I found out recently she moved too and im sad because I never got to make up before she left... and the only online contact info I know of of hers is her Tumblr and im planning on making a Tumblr of my own and making it look realistic and put my username in it but nothing else and following her and if she remembers me she can message me if she doesn't then ig she doesn't want to be friends again |
Question: What would be a good comeback? Posted: 03 Sep 2019 09:05 PM PDT So, I'm like a nice person and my friend jokes in front of all my friends I'm an *** kiss. Not true. |
Question: List of things that make me sad? Posted: 03 Sep 2019 08:34 PM PDT 1. Remembering playing yahtzee with my mom the day just before she died. 2. Remembering hugging my dad, carrying his then worthless body, like a baby in my arms, carrying him down the stairs, to put him into a wheel chair, to send him into hospice care... Knowing he won't ever be home again... Just weeks after he said well beat this together. 3. Remembering swimming in the pool with my nephew, like it was yesterday... Knowing he died from Heroin. 4. Seeing the occasional good reminders of my hometown... Like Tastykake and Water ice... And Amoroso rolls. Knowing how bad the place really is, way far outweighing the good. And that I can't go back. And that NOW it's only worse... Now we're talking about people adulterating grocery store food. 6. My Nephews Birthday Dec 17th, Christmas Dec 24th-25th.. My Moms Birthday March 2nd... My Birthday August 11th... My Dads Birthday, Oct 5th. |
Question: He only views me as a friend right??( Details inside)? Posted: 03 Sep 2019 06:50 PM PDT He's a good guy friend of mine. We agreed that we would only ever be friends. Mutual physical attraction is there so there's that but lots of people are attracted to their friends physically. I really love him because of who he is but I don't know if he likes me as more than a friend or if I'm imagining it. This is how he treats me. I was in the hospital, he slept there overnight for two days and didn't leave my side unless he was using the restroom or getting food for me and the whole time he suddenly referred to me as sweetheart. When I'm sick, he comes over my place and brings me soup and I don't ask , in fact I tell him to stay away so he doesnt get sick but he comes over anyway and again refers to me as sweetheart. He constantly calls me amazing. Is this normal behavior if a guy is just a friend or is does he like me more? I'm so confused lol |
