Question: How To Convince My Grandma To Let Me Travel With Her? Posted: 09 Apr 2019 01:08 PM PDT Hello, My grandma and her significant other are going to surprise my aunt who lives in Oregon for her art gallery new show/collection opening. I really want to go as I haven't seen my aunt in about 3 years and I really miss her. I also have the days off from school because of Easter and there are flights available. How can I convince my grandma to let me go with her and her significant other to visit my aunt. I just turned 17 and flying from New Mexico to Oregon isn't hard. Especially with my family there. I wouldn't be an intrusion on my grandma and her lovers time, if they wanted to do a romantic dinner or something I could help/hang out with my aunt or just chill at the hotel. I just really miss my aunt and want to help surprise her. Any thoughts on how to convince my grandma.(Also she wouldn't be paying for my flight.) Thanks. |
Question: How do I get my teenage brother to listen to me? Posted: 09 Apr 2019 12:36 PM PDT My brother, 13, is in his edgy years. I can understand that he is going through a rough patch that all of us teenagers go through but I feel like that gives him no right to act like a nuisance. He will not listen when I say no, he won't stop when I tell him to knock it off. He he talks back and is disrespectful. He has screamed and yelled at us when we've told him to turn down his music, curses out our parents, snuck out of the house, and lied about his whereabouts. I'm a few years older than him so I feel like maybe my age doesn't make him as keen to listen but he is even disrespectful to our own parents. He is always causing us trouble, and his trouble is causing a lot of tension between our parents. I've tried so many times to get him to stop what's he's doing but he never seems to listen. Please help me, his disrespect and do-what-I-want attitude has gone past that of an edgy teens. Do you have any advice on how to get him to consider the feelings of others and actually listen for once? |
Question: Growing up with my mom, it's hard to believe I've gone this far without losing my sanity? Posted: 09 Apr 2019 12:08 PM PDT I'm 24. I was never taught how to cook, how to drive, how to work. I was sheltered excessively to the point where I couldn't fend for myself. Live with my dad? She didn't want me to have any contact with him, or contact any of my half siblings. Until I turned 20 and did it myself, she was always the one who cleaned my room. She took all my dirty clothes and put it in the laundry. She cooked. She washed the dishes. Took out the trash. Made my own bed, I don't remember washing even a single spoon. She didn't let me have my own little part of life. Didn't let me wear my clothes the way I want, didn't let me wear my hair the way I want, didn't let me hang out with who I want. No family, no boyfriends, no cousins, no relatives. And there inside, my quiet hell, no one could have heard my cries for help. When I was 16 I was taken to a mental hospital because I couldn't taken it anymore. She said, "Why don't you go back to the mental hospital? Which is where you belong." And I remember a nurse told me,"I don't want to see you here ever again, because you don't belong here." |

Question: My sister is accusing my mom and I of neglect of my son? Posted: 09 Apr 2019 11:03 AM PDT My sister believes that my 1 year old is tongue tied. The doctor's have looked inside his mouth and have not spotted tongue tie. He's never had any problems latching while breastfeeding and he gains weight just fine beca use he is in the 98th percentile. I live with my Mom and son and she's saying that we are neglecting the baby by not acknowledging his "tongue tie". Does it look like he has tongue tie? |

Question: Why did I cry so much at my uncle's funeral and wake when he is only a step family? Posted: 09 Apr 2019 10:00 AM PDT My uncle from my stepfather's side has recently died from cancer. He was only in his mid-60s. I felt a little sad when I heard he was sick and then died, but I accepted it when I heard the news and didn't shed a tear. But once I attended his wake, tears started pouring down my face for no apparent reason. Then when the funeral came and we were at the cemetery, I completely lost it and bawled. He is only related to me from my stepfather and is not my blood relative. I wasn't even that close to him, but I did know him since I was a little kid and remember the few great times we had together when we used to spend some days fishing out in Long Island when I was a child. But despite a few great memories, I'm really not all that close to him yet I cried so much at the funeral and wake. Even my stepfather didn't shed a tear and they are brothers. So, what was wrong with me? Why would I cry so much like that? P.S.- I am a guy, which makes me even more ashamed to admit that I cried like that. |
Question: Is it okay to kiss your daughter in the lips ? Posted: 09 Apr 2019 09:34 AM PDT I still kiss my daughter in the lips she's 19. It's not a passionate kiss it's a father to daughter kiss and totally normal to us . Nothing more nothing less . |
Question: What should my grandma's "thing" be? Posted: 09 Apr 2019 09:13 AM PDT my grandma just moved into a home with a lot of other old people. I love her and I want her to have a "thing" or maybe an identity to set her apart and make her popular witht the other old people and nurses. she can walk and is pretty athletic so that might help |

Question: My autistic brother pulled a knife on me? Posted: 09 Apr 2019 07:58 AM PDT My brother is 34 years old and autistic. He is capable of doing chores, playing video games and other such things but every time I ask him to help out, around the house he gets violent. My apartment complex currently has inspections coming up soon and I wanted his help cleaning the pantry closet in the kitchen and he mad and start bashing his head against the wall and when I screamed at him to stop, he punched at my chest and I was just barely able to stop in with my arm. He then turned around and grabbed a large knife from the knife block and threatened me with it. I warned him I would scream and the neighbor would call the police. He then thought better of it and angrily shoved the knife back in the knife block and then grabbed a colander and threw it at a glass sitting on the table. And this isn't the first time he's gotten violent. Any time I ask him to get off that game for even a few minutes he usually acts violently, sometimes even kicking or punching holes in the walls. I just don't know what to do with him anymore. He's far bigger and stronger than me but I can't simply abandon him. |
Posted: 09 Apr 2019 07:57 AM PDT My sister is spoiled, selfish, bratty, mean, demanding, and sometimes violent. She screams at my mother and I for stupid reasons and never listens to what my mother asks of her. She is obsessed with her electronics and is on them all the time. Yes, she is only eight, but her behavior is truly terrible. Everyday she causes some problem and it leaves me so angry. My parents, especially my mom, don't discipline her! Maybe she has to go to her room and cry for awhile but soon she's forgiven. She gets no consequences for her actions. What do I do?? I can't stand being around her because she is so annoying and rude! |
Question: I NEED help with my stepdad... please read desc? Posted: 09 Apr 2019 07:10 AM PDT let me say this, I don t consider him satan or the worst human being ever and I know people have it way worse than I do but I just would like for someone to help me. Let me set the scene. Im 13,My mom met this dude 4 years ago but then split up because she didn't like how he treated me and my little brother and sister. They got back together 2 years later and then married in 2017. My mom and him have a complicated relationship. He was previously married to 2 different women, divorced them and payed little attention to the kids. NOW this stepdad has been to jail 6 times. 3 have been for Domestic Abuse. He is a VERY misogynistic type This step-dad is mentally abusive to my mom, he makes fun of her, calls her disgusting names when he's angry, he says things like "Your nothing without me" and "Your lucky I took pity on you and your pathetic family!" (He says a lot more.) Sometimes he hits her and pushes her but he says he does it out of love. He calls her ugly and dumbass A LOT (he says it to me and my siblings as well) He wont let her wear makeup (and me as well) he wont even let us wear effing jeans! I am very insecure and he says he wont let me wear makeup and jeans until Im 50 but again, he says it out of "love" he says. He literally took ALL of our electronics and said we would get them back when he dies. (he took them away 1 year ago). He yells at us A LOT and insults us but he calls it off as joking A lot of other things happen as well but I don't know what to do! |
Posted: 09 Apr 2019 06:49 AM PDT My brother believe it or not at 15 he dislikes Rap which is fine with me. But his friend is trying to get him into Rap. My brother likes older Rock music. I love Rap myself but I would never force someone to like it now or even at 15. My brother is very sad when his friend does this because my brother says he feels out of place and different from the other kids. I am just not sure what I should do as his older sister. I feel like my brother should be able to like the music he likes without criticism for the other kids. He has been kind of depressed and with drawn because of this. Also I might talk to our parents about this. I am just not sure how to go about it. He refuses to tell our parents what is going on. I am an adult but wondering if I should let our parents know. They might be able to offer better advice. But I would love to help if I am able to. Thank you for anyone who offers tips and suggestions that has to do with this situation. |
Question: Nobody likes me and I’m really depressed..? Posted: 09 Apr 2019 05:13 AM PDT I had my baby 2 weeks ago and I'm really depressed because I'm a single mom in my early 20's and I had a baby with a guy I met on tinder. I'm embarrassed because when my baby grows up they'll wonder where their father is and how we met and I'm not looking forward to telling them that mommy and daddy met online and that your father cares less about you. I'm just depressed because my baby wasn't planned but I still love them to death. I'm also sad because when my family first found out I was pregnant EVERYONE wanted me to give them up for adoption and I feel like nobody was supporting what I wanted to do and being there for whatever I decided because to them adoption was the only answer. It makes me sad because none of the family on my moms side gives two craps about my baby or even cares to see them. Some of my family even made fun of me for my situation saying how I'm a single mom and don't even have a boyfriend and I'm keeping it. That hurts a lot and I feel bad that nobody even likes my baby at all and nobody even threw me a baby shower or anything. Just nobody likes me and I'm really depressed |

Question: How can I find out what is bothering my 13 year old son? Posted: 09 Apr 2019 12:09 AM PDT My son is 13 in grade 7. He is happy enough when he is at home, but he spends a little too much time on video games. He has twin older brothers who are autistic, and that stresses him out a little, but he copes with it. At school, it's another matter. He does have a couple of friends, but never mentions girls. He is one of a very small white population at the school, (my mother-in-law is Mexican, but son looks all white) sometimes the other kids tease him for being white. He can get very good grades when he tries, but most of the time he does not care. When I pick him up after school, all the other kids are walking along looking happy and cheerful, but my son just slouches along looking glum. He's a handsome kid. Looks kind of like a young Toby McGuire from Spiderman, but he presents himself very unattractively. When I ask him if everything is OK, he says yes and will say no more. What should I do? So, Simpson G. You must be pretty sad indeed. |
Question: My mom(58) is always angry and bitter? Posted: 08 Apr 2019 11:25 PM PDT My mom is always negative and frequently lashes out for the smallest things. Earlier I tried showing her something and she yelled and cursed at me telling me to leave her alone. I really wanna move out but I'm only 18. My mom rarely has shown any affection and when she does it's around my cousins. I cant remember the last time she has told me I love you or has hugged me. Earlier today before my sister left she said I love you, but she has not said it to me even if I say I love you first. I'm usually not a very emotional guy but this is starting to affect me mentally and I'm not sure what to do. Just reaching out for some advice and anyone who has or is going through similar things. |
Question: Should i be embarrassed to get tickled by my big sisters? They think its cute? Posted: 08 Apr 2019 11:14 PM PDT im the only boy with three older sisters. im the youngest by far so since i was 4 i would always beg for them to play with me. whenever we were all together our favorite game to play was tickle fight. all three of my sisters love to tickle. they tickle eachother and have a blast. But they all also love to tickle me cause im the youngest and super ticklish. I love to play but my thing is that im so little once they tickle me i cant get back i just laugh. my oldest sister usually holds me in her lap as she jokes around teasing me. my other two sisters go after my feet which is my worst spot and they love to tease. they all love to tickle me cause they say im so cute. I always have so much fun. I just get embarrased because im favorite one to tickle in the family. they say little brothers are supposed to get tickled. i dont wanna ruin the fun but is it bad that they tickle me my parents say its all good fun |
Posted: 08 Apr 2019 09:12 PM PDT My room has no vent. So no heat. Literally freezing almost all year. Even with the door wide open, no heat comes in. The room has a single pane glass window that constantly leaks water into the room, black mold is continuously regrowing in the room no matter how much or what type of approach I use to fend it off with. It grows on everything, it grows on my clothes, my backpacks, my paperwork. One of the other renters left after the tenants dogs nipped at him, he yelled back at the dog so the tenant told him it was the dogs home, not his. After he moved out, my rent got raised a second time. I never signed any paper work when I moved in so I am wondering what my legal stand point is. I m going to move out but I ve already been severely mistreated by the tenant and I want to have a solid defense in the process of moving out that will keep the tenant from doing something drastic in the process like having my car towed or having my stuff thrown out of the house. I ve been told that I am not aloud to have company over and had beer cans thrown at my head while the tenant was drunk with several of his friends over. I ve been threatened by multiple different people that he has had over. |
Question: My Mormon parents saw my search history... help? Posted: 08 Apr 2019 08:18 PM PDT I used to watch erotic videos and stuff, and I would read explicit fanfictions and all that. In the last month, I decided to cut myself off from that, because it was making me unhappy and feel guilty. Lately I haven t really been using my phone a lot, and stupid me didn t clear any of my search history. So, my dad decided he wanted to look through my phone for some reason and saw everything, since the trash from the month before was pretty much the most recent. And then he looked through my text messages and found out that maybe I m not so good a mormon girl as they thought. So then my parents confronted me and had this long talk about sex and asked me if I was sexting people, which seemed unrelated to me but they were really, really angry but also embarrassed, since they never talk to us about sex or any of that, being Mormon and all. So now they took away my phone for a week and found a way to block YouTube. But that s not really what worries me. They never expected anything like this to happen to one of their kids, and now I feel like my relationship and trust with them have completely evaporated. I m in high school, a sophomore, so my relationship with my parents is important right now, being an angsty and moody teen. I don t know how to fix this, since I never really talked to my parents and I don t tell them my secrets, and I just don t know what to do. I m scared I ll get depressed again like I was two years ago. That s what I m most afraid of. Anybody... advice??? |
Question: Can I report my parents for being mentally abusive? Posted: 08 Apr 2019 07:48 PM PDT My parents call me gay and make fun of me because I moisturize, take care of my skin and dress like a man (button up shirt, belt etc, somehow that's gay) they make fun of how I dress and call me ugly if I don't dress how they like, is that a crime? I try not to listen but it hurts to see my parents calling me ugly. Please help and how I can stop them. |
Question: Do I have to act like I’m this girls father? Posted: 08 Apr 2019 07:22 PM PDT My girlfriend has a daughter from a previous relationship and she's telling me to be like a father to her. She's even teaching her to call me daddy. Can i object to this? The girl already has a father. It's not my fault he's a deadbeat. That being said. It doesn't mean I don't like her daughter. She's just a kid. A good kid too. |
Question: Did I do something wrong? Posted: 08 Apr 2019 07:18 PM PDT So my mother asked me to make her some business cards, which I took 30 minutes to make it nice and 2 different ones so she can choose which one was her style. (Since I have experience with editing & stuff like that) She chose one that she liked and told me to send it to her. Maybe like a week later they email some cards with only the name of her thing and email. No phone number or anything. They weren't the cards that I designed. It was my older sisters which it looked like a crappy no phone number card. I was telling her how are they going to contact her and things like that. For the past few months she's been like favoring her. Even yesterday since I share a room with my little sister, she proceeded to wake us up calling us 'cochinas' meaning filthy and things like that then I hear her going to my older sisters room waking her up like an angel telling her to wake up sweety etc.. even my little sister took notice. Since I'm basically the middle child, they typical middle child stereotypes really fit in my family. Like my mother just brushes me off but when it comes to them they are treated more differently. I mean I do my best literally help her out, not get in trouble etc.. my 19 year old sister asks my mom to buy her beer which she does proceed to buy. I feel shunned. My graduation is also in like two months. With my sisters graduation, she did the most buying her the dress and shoes. I don't have anything at all. I guess I have to get used to it till I move out |
Question: What happens when you go missing as an adult on purpose? Posted: 08 Apr 2019 07:05 PM PDT My family is very close. I plan on logging out of all social media and going out of town without telling anyone. I need to get away, they are driving me nuts. I don't feel I owe them an explanation. |
Posted: 08 Apr 2019 06:50 PM PDT I grew up with two siblings and have friends who have no siblings. There isn't really a difference between us, everyone is different. Having only one kid doesn't automatically make a parent spoil their child. The parent is always able to control what they buy their kid, whether they're an only child or has 5 siblings. Unless kids are locked in a basement, don't attend school and have no exposure to the outside world, they're still going to develop social skills. Most of it is learned from interacting with your same-aged peers in early childhood anyways. |
Posted: 08 Apr 2019 06:39 PM PDT is anyone else sad that they have a boring life? my life consists of mainly school and studying. i'm 16 and my family doesn't really do anything fun, we don't really go places, and we don't hang out with family because they're in a different state. it makes me sad, especially when my friends are constantly hanging out with their families. also, my parents don't let me go out cuz they're strict. :( |
Posted: 08 Apr 2019 06:23 PM PDT Okay so I'm just gonna go into detail on this, I haven't had a job since September of 2018 (I've been going through a lot of personal things) and my family have been getting on me lately about getting a job but there isn't any jobs in my area where I want to work at. I'm 19 years old. Don't have a car or a license, I've tried talking to my mom on several occasions to take me to get my permit renewed but still hasn't happened yet. But today my dad was talking to my mom and siblings about how he wants me to try to get me on disability so I'm making some sort of money, but I'm refusing to do this. So is my siblings. I was born premature. There trying to also tell some doctor that they think I'm apparently a few years behind that I have the mentality of a 10 year old? (The only reason why there saying this is because I have a big dream of becoming a choreographer or a singer even though I don't have any experience). It's just all a mess, it literally makes me want to move away but I'm very worried that if I did this my family would contact the police or something. |
Question: Is this good parenting? Posted: 08 Apr 2019 05:58 PM PDT My niece has a 71D in science and a 55F in Math and my sister keeps asking her why but Audrey keeps replying IDK and tells her to go away. My sister just told her that if she was intellectual or something that she would make good grades. She keeps telling her about how she made good grades in high school, college, and was Captain of the cheer team. My niece is not the cheerleader type but my sister can't see that for some reason. My niece was in tears when she kept asking her about her grades and my sister kept asking her why for 20 minutes. Why not go talk to the kids teachers? The kid is in the 7th grade and my sister is already "embarrassed" about her not making the cheer team recently. She also knows my niece has depression but I get the vibe that she might be trying to tease her. My sister is 30 and the kid is 13. |
Question: Its not my job to call my absent mother on holidays? Posted: 08 Apr 2019 05:36 PM PDT So ever since I was 14 my mom hasnt been involved in my life. Im in my late 20s now and we talk only a few times a year on the phone, usually surface chat, nothing profound or meaningful. She was abusive to me growing up so I have kept my distance from her. Her birthday is in a few days and I have decided not to text her or call her this time, since she doesnt call me on my birthday. She will send me a birthday card but not actually call me which I always found a bit strange. She also never calls or texts me on major holidays and for some reason I always felt guilty about not calling her, as if it were my obligation to do so. But as Im getting older I am fully starting to realize it was never my job to fix what she broke and my guilt about that is simply misplaced. Am I correct in coming to this conclusion? Well going no contact is a big deal for abused daughters or sons of narcissistic parents and, it would have also taken her 10 seconds to call her daughter on her birthday so I think I wont. |

Posted: 08 Apr 2019 05:00 PM PDT He treats me like SH, he treats my Mother like SH, he treats my Step Father (his biological Father) like SH, he treats my Sister like SH, and he even treats our dog, like SH. My Parents never discipline him, and it's insufferable! They think they're being a good example to him by letting him doormat them constantly, which MAKES NO SENSE!! And whenever they DO discipline him, it's always something biased, like; Mom or Dad's annoyed, an object was almost destroyed, or "you left a mess", or "I have a headache so be quiet", or "we're trying to watch TV, go to your room!" It's always about THEIR sensibilities, THEIR feelings, THEIR space, THEIR well-being, and has NOTHING TO DO WITH ACTUALLY DISCIPLINING HIM FOR THE SAKE OF NOT GETTING HIMSELF PUNCHED IN THE FACE SOMEDAY! |
Question: My uncle sexually abused me? Posted: 08 Apr 2019 04:53 PM PDT I was at my grandma house because my mom was out of town and my uncle lives there. My uncle was talking to me last night and then started touching me and I told him to stop and then he tried to force me to give him oral sex so then I told me mom and she believes me but no one else does I really want to tell the police but my grandma also has to adopted girls in the house and I live them and I don't want social services to take them what do I do? Posted: 08 Apr 2019 04:44 PM PDT My kid is 16 now, and tried to apply for a credit card. She couldn't, because someone stole her identity and has bad credits. The police told us that this happens a lot with children. She was about 8 years old when she signed up for a Facebook account, and all kinds of other platforms too. She told us that she did make online friends who knew her real name. I had no idea about it then. They suspect that one of those people were able to steal her identity and open credit cards. |
Posted: 08 Apr 2019 04:18 PM PDT Like most families nowadays (sadly) my family is pretty screwed up. My dad has a bunch of siblings and they are pretty much all divorced. One divorce in particular was extremely messy. They had two kids, and divorced about six years ago. That was also the last time I saw my one cousin. I follow him on social media and whatever but other than that, we don't talk. I want to send him a DM and just try to catch up but he also distanced himself from the family as soon as he graduated high school. We used to be really close until his parents split. Do I contact him, or let it be and if its meant to be sometime soon we will end up catching up? |
Question: My dad is 85 and im 21? Posted: 08 Apr 2019 04:05 PM PDT I know this shouldn't matter to me because at the end of the day he's my dad, but i can't help it to sometimes feel embarrassed when i introduce my parents to a girl or to some friends, they ask me if he's my grandpa or my uncle and I get so nervous when I have to say the truth, i love him and i respect him as a my dad, i also feel sad because i wish he was younger so I could have him more time by my side, i know this is not a question but I'm curious to know your thoughts and feelings, I've had done a couple of dna tests before and they all say that he's my dad. |
Question: Am I wrong for wishing our 13 yr old sister wasn’t like the way she is right now? Posted: 08 Apr 2019 04:01 PM PDT My sister is suddenly rude and disrespectful to our parents. She thinks she knows best, but doesn't make good decisions. Me and my brother have to walk on eggshells and be sure not to anger our parents even more, since they've already had enough. We love her, but wish her attitude would be gone. She used to be so easygoing and nice until puberty started. She told our parents that she hated them because they won't let her have Instagram or go to a concert, that she would've been better off with those parents who let their kids do everything they want. That's right - my sister thinks that her friends have it better, because their parents work 24/7 and can't afford to stay home and set boundaries on their kids. Our parents try to ignore her, but she'll manage to stir up a fight. It's causing lots of drama at home, and all the attention goes to her nowadays. Oh, not only that, she has tons of problems with her friends too! They're always fighting and gossiping. She blames my parents for "ruining her life" since they won't let her go on social media and be part of that drama. |
Question: Is it normal that my brother is always extremely serious? Posted: 08 Apr 2019 03:33 PM PDT My older brother who is 21 (im 17) is always serious and I although I only see him about once a week now he never ever smiles or laughs or let's his hair down. He is a welder and works quite long hours about 60 hours a week. He very rarely talks to anyone at all and I don't think he has any friends that he hangs out with. Even when he does talk it's very serious and almost like a old man. Is this normal? Why could he be like this? |
