Question: Why do I listen to my dad instead of using my common sense? Posted: 04 Dec 2018 01:30 PM PST We've been having one of Dad's crew work on the brakes on the work van. There was a terrible grinding coming from the front driver side wheel, which our guy said was a missing bearing. I showed my dad the sound it was making my driving around the block, and he suggested that I dump our utility trailer in Newberg as a test drive. This should have been the point where I told him to go to hell, but I've been fighting with him a lot lately, and I didn't want another one. So I went, and I made it almost all the way to the dump before the tire started to wobble. No ѕhit. An actual wobble. Fortunately, between AAA and the wheel being under warranty, this isn't costing, but I could have died, all because I didn't want a fight with Dad. Your thoughts? |

Question: I need some legal advice.? Posted: 04 Dec 2018 09:59 AM PST I am under 18 and I live with my step-mom, my half brother and my dad. I have not had contact with my birth mother for about 11 years. I want her to give up all of her parental rights. what kind of process would I have to go through? |
Question: How do I convince my mom to take me to a concert? Posted: 04 Dec 2018 09:54 AM PST So there is this concert in LA that I really want to go to in a few weeks. It's not a big concert, just a small show with a few artists that I really like. I live in San Diego so it's like 2 hours away, I don't think it's that far. My mom said no though and I have no one else who could take me. I am a competitive dancer and my family already spends so much money on me for dance, my mom says I'm being ungrateful to want to go to this concert. But I never ask for much, I am a really good kid. How can I convince her to let me go? |
Posted: 04 Dec 2018 09:05 AM PST I'm getting envious of all the young adults who I've found out get to live at home rent free, whether they're working, in school, or doing both. If I could afford rent, I wouldn't still be at home! Me paying for my phone and a few groceries isn't enough, they want more on top. I'm not trying to sound whiny or entitled, but I found out that it's completely different on the other side of the world, and even that many parents here in the US don't expect (SOME REFUSE TO ACCEPT ANY) rent from their own child, regardless of age. My parents might not make me pay rent (even my step dad might drop it, in fact he never even made me pay it, only now because my grandmother butt in to say she thinks I should, she doesn't even live with us!) if they knew my true struggles, but I keep my mouth shut out of fear of being pushed into a mental hospital against my will or something (I know that being over 18 they legally can't, but they could demand I go into that kind of help as a condition to not kick me out). Yes, my family thinks I'm doing a lot better than I really am, and my grandmother had to butt in and say I should pay rent to my parents, before she said that they only made me pay for my phone, which I was fine with. If I confess all of my true struggles, they may all agree I shouldn't pay rent, but then they may try to make me get on disability or go to a mental hospital or something, neither of which I want (I was forced into a hospital when I was still a minor). If I get fired they probably won't make me pay rent until I get another job anyway..... I'm trying school now. ................. Everything in America is about money, even HEALTHCARE AND EDUCATION! Question: My grandparents won’t support my goals? Posted: 04 Dec 2018 08:46 AM PST I'm a male senior in high school.I live with my grandparents. They both want me to go to college but I don't want to,I see no point of going, because I'd probably end up dropping out.My goal for a long time has been when I'm out of high school to compete in a combat sport (mma, boxing) and see where it goes.I'm really passionate about it.If I tell them this, they'll probably think I'm stupid or not want to support me,what should I do? |

Question: Can't stop myself from constantly cleaning up after boyfriends kids? Posted: 04 Dec 2018 07:06 AM PST Hello, first off, thanks so much for your time and response! Here's my problem: I'm a very clean & organized person without kids dating someone with young kids who are very messy, his son in particular (5 yr old) and I can't seem to stop myself from cleaning up after them constantly when I'm at his house. I know that my focus is wrong and i should be playing with the kids but it's almost hard for me to breathe when the house is trashed. How do I stop myself from consistently cleaning up after them and spend the time constructively doing something with them? |
Posted: 04 Dec 2018 06:06 AM PST I'm a new mom of one. My son is 8 months old, now I'm pregnant again. My sons father was treating me bad so I moved back home (12 hrs away) in hopes of support from family. They give us a roof over our head but that's about it. I have no car so it's hard to find work with limited or no public transit nearby. My sons dad is being spiteful and hasn't sent me any money for him since I left a wk ago. I'm 4 months pregnant with his 2nd child and that doesn't seem to matter. I have no friends at all. Everyone has turned their back on me now that I'm down and not doing good. I thought about returning back to live with my sons dad but life is too unstable with him...ex. Bills never paid on time, power always being cut off, almost homeless every month. Plus he refuses to watch our son so I can get a job to help with bills and I can't afford daycare. Everyone seems to hate me right now. My mom is annoyed when I ask for a ride to interviews or ask her to watch my son while I go look for work. Everyone hates me. I just want to run away and never look back, but I don't know where to run to. I try to stay positive but nothing is working. I'm hopeless, tired, and about to give up. I cry everyday and everything I try doesn't work. If anyone has any advice please give it and I will try one more time before giving up. Thanks. |

Question: People think I’m beautiful, I think I look hideous? Posted: 03 Dec 2018 11:00 PM PST Growing up my mom and sister lowered my self esteem. My mom would always say my sister was prettier. Every time I go places guys wonder why I'm not married. Guys and girls tell me I'm beautiful. However I don't see it, I don't even put much into my appearance. |
Question: Does it count as overspending if a have 16$ And buy something for 10$? Posted: 03 Dec 2018 09:54 PM PST |
Posted: 03 Dec 2018 09:19 PM PST Every time I go over her place she spends the time on her phone and her husband either watches YouTube videos or plays xbox. They don't interact with their son until he's "up to no good" which is often because his toys are all under the couch. I feel bad for him. Most of his interactions with his parents are scolding. I thought that maybe they're treating me as relief, but my mother lives with them and just told me that they're like this all the time. When they come to my place they whip their phones out and it's like I'm babysitting. At this point I feel like I should say something, because his development is a greater priority than their feelings in the moment. And even if they don't respond positively than at least I'm commmnicating my concerns. I love them all and want the best for my nephew. I have a son, I know parenting is hard and screens are easy escapes but I owe it to him to be in the moment with him. Please don't give me crap in the comments, I'm just concerned. |
Posted: 03 Dec 2018 09:05 PM PST So I'm an adult visiting home, and sitting on the couch in the living room of an otherwise empty first floor of the house with my laptop sending some emails. My little brother (young teen) comes home from school. He says to me "Emma! I am home! ...-osexual. hahaha kidding." But he tried to cover for it a little bit, in a way that made it seem like he was trying to both come out, and not come out at the same time. I'm a little bit more on the liberal leaning side of my otherwise mostly conservative and deeply loved family, and it's relatively known in the family that my politics are "open." My little brother knows that too, and I can't help but wonder if he felt safe(r) bringing that up to me. I feel kind of bad because I was admittedly slightly taken back and said "yeah..wow okay Jimmy." I know plenty of LGBTQIA+ people so I felt bad for not reacting to that better. He then came over behind me, rested his chin on my head, and tried to quickly change topics to asking about my emails. He shortly thereafter said "oh you better send them all to me. I'm a corporate spy." I was kinda busy at the time and dismissed the whole thing as more annoying than I should have. At his age, he might know, he might not know, he might be uncertain. Regardless, I want to make sure he feels like he can come to me with whatever, because I imagine he doesn't feel comfortable bringing it up to my relatively religious parents. Don't want to push him out of the closet either. Thoughts? |
Posted: 03 Dec 2018 08:19 PM PST I think he might of saw it before I could Tell him but as soon as I came back into the house from talking to our sister I told him my mom is acting like I committed a sin for not telling him sooner. What should I do |

Question: Is anyone else bothered by obese children? Posted: 03 Dec 2018 06:50 PM PST My brother and his wife (who are big) have an obese 2 year old. They still have her drinking full bottles of whole milk, and eating adult sized bowls of food. She weighs as much as my nearly 6 year old. I feel disgusted with my brother, and it affects how I look at my neice. I don t know how to over cone the feeling. Does it bother anyone else? |
Question: Who's being unreasonable here? Posted: 03 Dec 2018 06:21 PM PST My brother and I live in a house that we own. My dog has always stayed outside while I'm at work, but I want her to be an inside dog now because I just feel bad leaving her outside. She has shelter and everything, but still... I've been leaving her inside lately, and she does good, she just gets into the trash and pulls out a few pieces every so often. I tried to correct it before. I would put some peanut butter in the trash, and wait for her to go for it, and I would say no! But she just doesnt seem to get it. Anyway, I got a furbo camera so that I could check in on her at work. I happened to be watching her when she took a couple pieces out of the trash. My brothers gf happened to walk in the door about 2 minutes later. She dragged my dog in the bathroom, and I could hear 3 loud slaps, than she told her to go lay down, and than she left. I was gonna have a talk with her tonight about it, but shes not here, so I told my brother. My brother got mad and said well, whatever your doing is not working so she might have to be smacked around. I suggested we could just put the bathroom trash in the cupboard under the sink when we are gone, and he said no, we arent doing that. She knows shes doing wrong and she needs to get punished for it. My brother has done a lot for me, but I just dont understand what's so hard about putting the can in the cupboard before we leave. Am I asking too much? |
Question: Can my mom gain custody of me? Posted: 03 Dec 2018 04:28 PM PST My parents are separated and I live with my dad full time. My Mother and I rarely talk, she was emotionally and often physically abusive. I just turned 17 and a friend of mine just told me her mom was paying for a lawyer for my Mom to file for divorce. I have two siblings who stay with us generally 3 nights a week, plus whenever they're sick and need to stay home from school or my mom is working which is often. She's mentioned her frustration that my dad "manipulates" me into not seeing her, and has threatened to get a lawyer in the past if I didn't agree to scheduled visitation. She makes more than my dad does, and she's definitely not above lying and exaggerating if she gets any money or anything she wants out of things. Should I be worried? What could she realistically do? |
Question: Am I doing something wrong? Posted: 03 Dec 2018 04:16 PM PST I stood outside while I waited for dad to come outside and he criticized me for wearing pajamas by saying that he and my mom told me about not wearing my pajamas. I noticed that he started criticizing me for wearing pajamas the last two times we left our home later in the day even though I'm wearing the same clothes. I see other people wearing pajamas outdoors. They're just clothes and so I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I want them to accept me for who I am which is a great person who wears pajamas when on the go sometimes. |
Question: My sister is annoying me so much I can t stand it. What should I do? Posted: 03 Dec 2018 03:32 PM PST |
Posted: 03 Dec 2018 01:32 PM PST It's also a slap in the face to those who have infertility and we also have finite resources. How selfish of him and his stay at home privileged little rich wife. Just because you can afford them is not an excuse to have a quadrillion offspring. |
Posted: 03 Dec 2018 10:34 AM PST I have a 10 year old stepson. My husband is the primary parent. My husband and his ex were a "casual" fling and never had an official relationship. They are compete opposites and both are guilty for not putting differences aside of their son. With that said, my SS obviously loves them both and I help him make a Christmas present for his Mom every year. I've been in his life since he was 2. One year we made a blanket, another we did pottery. We've done cookies, a couple years ago we did an ornament with their picture on it. We usually come up with ideas together. But this year, his nearing teenage indifference is kicking in. He said he wants to do something for his Mom, but shrugs when I ask what. I thought of a movie date, but my husband doesn't want a dollar amount that she can see attached to it. (He said she'll complain that her child support paid for it.) So it needs to be homemade. Do you have any ideas of a homemade idea that a 10 year old could do for his Mom? My husband said to forget it since he isn't taking initiative. But SS did say he wanted to do it and I feel it's important to encourage this one act of goodwill that we have between the houses. Any ideas for a homemade gift? |
