Question: My parents won't let me quit my job? Posted: 05 Apr 2017 01:42 PM PDT I am 17 years old and have been working at the same grocery store for over 2 years. I have been accepted to a college and it starts in August of this year. I have about $20,000 saved up of my own money. My parents saved me money as well and I also have all of my birthday and Christmas money throughout my whole life saved (which I don't know how much). I hate my job so much, I work so hard and I feel I am being treated poorly. I have never called in or have been late to work ever. I always go to work when they call me in for an extra shift. I work around 20-25 hours a week, with also having to attend high school. Whenever I bring up quitting my mom just says "You need money coming in" I have saved so much and I want to enjoy the last 4 months of my life before having to go away for college and working for my whole life. I have become depressed from working and I always stress about work, even on my days off. All of my friends always tell me to quit because I spend so much of my life there. I have worked every single.day of the weekend throughout this time. I do not have any bills or expenses. I have already paid for my whole phone contract up front and do not own a vehicle. Why won't she just let me quit? |
Question: What are the best ways to deal with going through hard times? Posted: 05 Apr 2017 01:19 PM PDT I've grown up a lot, and find relating to others, including adults, to be very vey difficult. People don't understand how life works and they seek attention for the stupidest things in my opinion, and they behave like children. What are the best ways to deal with this? I've been putting myself first and it helps. |
Question: How can you make a sibling leave you alone? Posted: 05 Apr 2017 12:56 PM PDT I'm 16, and very small, my brother is about to be 18 and literally has a good foot of height over me and probably a hundred pounds. He will constantly shove me, throw stuff at me and insult me. He has pushed me over and I've fallen and genuinely hurt myself, he's grabbed my arm and twisted it until my skin is bruised and it usually will stay like that for a couple days/weeks depending on how bad. He heavily insults me as well, which sucks. He calls me a fàggot (I feel like an idiot working around this curse filter, good gosh) and a sissy mostly, and has called me other things of course, but those are his favorites. He grabbed my hair some time ago when it was still long and yanked my head back and actually pulled some of it out. My parents literally do not care. My mom sides with him because he always goes on saying I was hitting him/insulting him first/just provoking him (which is still bullshit, even if he wasn't lying, someone 6'1 and 200 pounds that does sports shouldn't hit someone who has illnesses and is half their size.) And my dad just tells me to "deal with it myself and fight back." I literally cannot. I. Can. Not. Fight. Back. The times I've tried, he's hurt me a thousand times worse. I don't want to keep getting tortured but there is nothing I can do I don't think. I really genuinely am at such a loss. I'd love any help, I want to just feel safe and be respected by a family member that is an ADULT. Scary as it sounds, I'm about to snap. I really am. |
Question: Is this a weird relationship/encounter between a father and daughter? Posted: 05 Apr 2017 12:33 PM PDT A 37 year old man has a daughter. He's raised her alone and been single throughout most of her life. He's never married or lived with a girlfriend. His daughter is 19 and still lives with him, and the two of them are very close and can talk about basically anything besides sex. They rant to each other about everything and have deep conversations all the time. The daughter (I'll call her E) is going through a really tough time. She's in love with a boy in her friend group, but he's in a very abusive relationship with another girl. E is one of the people who's trying to help the boy out of his abusive relationship. One night at around 11:00 PM, E's dad is watching TV alone in his bedroom. E knocks on his door and asks him if she can come in to talk about what's been bothering her. He says yes. E lays down next to her dad and starts ranting. She's already told her dad about the boy and his abusive relationship, but she hasn't told him that she's in love with him. After E rants for a while, her dad says, "you're in love with him, aren't you?" E starts crying and says, "yes, and not only is he with someone else, but she's abusing him". E then curls up next to her dad and cries some more. Her dad just sits there and lets her cry for a while before saying, "seeing you so upset breaks my heart. I'd do anything in my power to help you stop feeling this way." He strokes her hair and tries to calm her down. After E is done crying, she says, "okay, I'm done. Thanks for letting me cry." Her dad laughs, kisses her head, and tells her goodnight. E goes to her own room and goes to bed. Are they too close for comfort? |
Question: Is it normal to wish I was the only child...? Posted: 05 Apr 2017 12:20 PM PDT My sister who is 2 years younger than me... we've got to the point where we can't stand each other anymore. We used to get along when we were younger. But now that we're teenagers, we are different which causes many arguments. I am an anti social person who spends as much time alone as possible. My sister is the worst of a nightmare when she has her idiotic friends over, they are always shouting loudly. Anyone who is the only child and wishes they had siblings... I'd swap with you anyday! |
Question: Stepdad beating sister should I report? Posted: 05 Apr 2017 12:19 PM PDT He takes her to the basement and beats her with a belt or metal ruler, this is nothing new but lately he takes her down there and I dont hear him beating her at all..nothing. I asked her wahts going on and she won't say, she often goes to take a shwer and one time he made me go to a differnt room before she came back upstairs and she again went to the shower? |
Question: Is my Mom "abusing" me...? Posted: 05 Apr 2017 11:40 AM PDT I don't know if I should add my age\\gender because I'm pretty sure if one of my family members I currently live with find this I'm gonna get in big trouble, but let's just say I'm a 10-13 year old. I do not live with my Dad (he's not with my Mother). My Mom doesn't let me go to any of my friends house, I never do anything (go to the park with friends, etc). She yells at me everyday, calls me a dumbass, an idiot, and a bunch of other things when I ask her if I could do something. I have been in my house for 5 days straight doing literally nothing, for one reason: My mom does not let me go outside and hang out with my friends. I am scared to ask her anything, because she always yells at me. 2/3 years ago she really scared me, she threw a basket and a remote controller at me. I was hiding. I have never been so terrified ever in my life. I remember describing her as a "monster" to my friends. I was terrified. I sincerely thought, "I can not live with this anymore". Everyday, she argues with me. My best friend has been saying that I should leave the house and live with her. She has it all planned out... I don't want to leave though... I just am so confused. I love my Mom, she feeds me everyday, can be nice, but she switches moods so quickly. A minute I love her so much, next minute I feel abused. I don't know, should I go with the plan of leaving with my friend or should I stay until I'm 18 and never talk to her again? im on spring break lol. |
Posted: 05 Apr 2017 10:59 AM PDT When I was 23 I met a woman who was already 38 and for the first few years it was all about the money. But eventually I became overwhelmed with the love and attention and fell began to love her. We are now married and have a young daughter. However, my parents were against our relationship from the beginning and claimed I'm just a paid prostitute. That hurt. I've almost reached a point where they no longer exist in my life. |

Question: Can I change my name? Posted: 05 Apr 2017 09:36 AM PDT So I wanna change my name because I don't like to be a part of something. I don't like that my parents just gave me a name and I have to carry that for the rest of my life. I've just been living with my mother since 2004 (I'm 19 now) and since about 7 years I've had trouble calling her 'mom'. I always call her by her first name, I never say "hi mom" or anything like that. I pretended to start it as a joke, but really I just do it because I don't want to feel like I'm part of her. I'm just myself. I know this sounds strange to some, but it's just how I feel. |
Question: My son is a gangster and I am proud? Posted: 05 Apr 2017 09:22 AM PDT I'm a single mom of an adult son and he very high up in a very well known white gang. I know the normal thing for a mom to do is to be scared and disappointed but I am not. I tried everything I could do to get him to give up on crime but we were very poor and everything he did was to support us. He risked his life inside prison and outside the move up the ranks and he did. Now he makes more money than he knows what to do with and bought me a house and a car and pays all of my bills. He has a wife and kids now and because of my son his family my grandkids will never want for anything. I could not be more proud as a mom and why shouldn't? |
Question: Are my parents secretly wanting me to be gay? Posted: 05 Apr 2017 09:09 AM PDT I'm a 21 year-old virgin. My parents tell me not to have sex before marriage, but neither of them were virgins before marriage (my dad had sex with a girl he thought he was going to marry and my mom was raped). You'd think that any father would be proud of their son losing their virginity, but not mine. |

Question: What is a nice way to ask my mother about money she owes me? Posted: 05 Apr 2017 07:35 AM PDT My mother has had me take out a couple loans for her over the last couple years that she would just pay the payments on and was good about until the last few months and she has missed a couple. She is asking me again to refinance one of the loans because she needs dental work done but I just don t know how to approach it without having issues. Long story short she tends to manipulate things I guess is the best way to put it and not to sound mean but I need her help. She watches my youngest son so I can attend my teenage boys ball games because my youngest has sever impulse, anger and violent issues so it s hard for him to handle being out for any amount of time and control himself plus I do need a break sometimes. so my fear is if I don t loan her this money or make her mad about approaching her over the other she will refuse to help me with him and I won t be able to attend my old boys stuff. She is the only one my son will stay with other then me and his dad (his dad is at work until late in the evening so it is just me). I know pick the battles and so on but it is also important to my older kids that they get some mom attention too and a lot of the time me going to their games may be the only quality time we get so it is important to go to their stuff let alone what parent doesn t like to see their kid do what they enjoy. Anyhow any advice on a good way to handle this and thank you!! |

Question: My sister took all my mom s jewelry, what can I do? Posted: 05 Apr 2017 05:44 AM PDT My mother s very elderly and sick. I take care of her everyday. My sister lives out of town and visits 4 or 5 hours every other weekend. My sister owns a jewelry store. After my sister visited my mom s safe was empty, I asked her what happened to her jewelry she said my sister wanted it. I felt heartbroken and asked my mom why would she give her all of it and me nothing. She said I m sick and I can t deal with that now. She made me feel terrible for saying anything about it. Then she said I talked to her she s bringing it back. But she visited and didn t bring it back. My sister is rich, has a million dollar home and store full of diamonds. I live off of spousal support, I was a stay at home mom and after 25 years my husband left me for another woman. My mother had a large collection of lifetime jewerly. She loved jewerly and passed her love of jewerly to her daughters. I would never touch her jewerly and it s all gone now. Like at least 75k..I feel heartbroken and don t want to ever speak to my sister again. What can I do? |

They're all married and I'm not married I haven't even had a girlfriend yet nor have I had sex before and everyone in my family treats me like I'm not part of the family. Question: Should I allow my daughter boyfriend to live with us? Posted: 05 Apr 2017 05:08 AM PDT My daughter is 16 and pregnant and I recently just found that out because she has been keeping it a secret from me for several weeks. Question: I've had a crush on a man who's like my uncle throughout my entire life? Posted: 05 Apr 2017 01:47 AM PDT I'm a 17 year old girl. My aunt (my mom's sister) had my cousin two years before I was born. My aunt passed away before my cousin turned one, so my cousin's dad raised her. My cousin's dad isn't related to me by blood, but I've ALWAYS called him my uncle because that's the role he plays in my life. I don't live in the same town as him, but I see him every time I visit my cousin, which is about once a month. My "uncle" is the most gorgeous man I know. My mom knows it and talks about it, my grandma knows it and talks about it, literally EVERYONE knows it and talks about it. For as long as I can remember, I've had a crush on him. Of course I'd never act on it because of the age gap and the fact that he's technically my uncle (plus he'd obviously NEVER look at me that way) but is this wrong? Shouldn't my crush have gone away a long time ago? It's been a consistent thing throughout my entire life. It started when I was literally 5. He makes me nervous (not because I'm scared of him or don't trust him but because he's so attractive) like any other crush would do. I've had dreams about him and sometimes find myself fantasizing about him. Am I crazy? |
Posted: 05 Apr 2017 01:45 AM PDT Everyone downs me because I don't really make sense in my conversations or because I say the wrong words that doesn't even fit the sentence. I get so nervous talking to people I don't even know how to fit words together. I'm not trying to say I can't speak fluent English at all. I just feel like I am not smart enough. I don't even know how to use big words and I'm 22.. my parents weren't like every other parents. I never ever sat down with my parents and had a conversation about my day or how was school. My parents weren't affectionate with us.. they just lectured if we did something wrong and that's about the only conversations we have. I wish my parents taught me a lot in life. I wish I picked up strong words from conversations with them but it was never like that. They only showed us love by giving us a home, food and whatever we needed to grow in life. My parents have never said "I love you" to me.. I feel like not having that kind of bond between my parents like most people in life have, made my brain less convienent to life. I wish my parents taught me a lot. But I was always shut out and Everyone says I'm dumb and they don't like talking to me. Everyone says I'm a boring person to talk to.. it makes me sad. I wanna work on my speaking skills and want be creative in my conversations but I don't know where to begin. I need advice? |
Question: How to deal with a family memeber who is on drugs? Posted: 05 Apr 2017 01:31 AM PDT So this family memeber is old has children who they can't support and knows they do drugs and will never stop doing them. Plays the petty card on others saying you know I do drugs and won't help me when they have been helped many times. And is just completely delusional when speaking always talking about God. How to deal with this? |

Question: Do you think I'm undergoing emotional abuse? Posted: 04 Apr 2017 10:57 PM PDT I'm only 16, but right now, I have a really low confidence, and all mostly because of my family. My mom would constantly tell me that I'm not feminine or girly and she would try to always buy me girly clothes... stuff that she knows I would never wear anyways. She always repeatedly compare to other girls and how they're so pretty and act how girls my age should be and she always belittles me. What hurted me for at least 3 straight days was when my dad told me that I should put on makeup because my face didn't look good. I was sad to hear that I needed makeup. Not only this, but almost my whole family talks about me and how I'm supposingly "lazy" only because I'm a computer person. My cousin told me that she heard my grandpa talking about me and how I'll probably never get married. And I heard from my other cousin that her dad doesn't let her hang out with me because I'm a bad influence since I'm quite a tomboy and like playing games and computer a lot. Ik that my whole family talks about me... to the point where I have no confidence at all. I would spend nights crying and crying. Not that I'm contemplating suicide but I keep thinking, if one day I'm gone, will they really care about me? My parents are okay but they keep trying to change me and they won't accept me for who I am. I'm purposely applying for a college outside of my city just so I can get away from this mess and hopefully regain my confidence again. |

Question: Am I the only one who doesn't see a reason to care about their parents at all? Posted: 04 Apr 2017 10:08 PM PDT I am an adult, this is not a kid "my parents wont buy me a toy" type of thing. My entire life, I have not liked either parent(divorced). Neither of them are particularly terrible, not criminals, not physically abusive etc. I just have never liked them for various reasons and try to avoid them whenever possible. Everyone I mention this to in real life seems to be offended by it, shocked that anyone could possibly not love their parents. Am I the only one who feels this way? Some responses in advance to the usual responses I get: 1. "but they gave you life!" - Yeah? So? did I ask them to do that? 2. "but the bible says honor thy parents!" - I'm an Atheist, screw what the bible says. 3. "but they raised you!" - So your telling me I should be grateful because someone didn't starve me to death as a baby? Oh yeah, that makes so much sense.... /sarcasm |
Question: Why is my 20 year old second cousin so immature? Posted: 04 Apr 2017 09:49 PM PDT I'm a 15 year old girl and my second cousin is annoying and immature. He's 20 but acts like he's 10 sometimes. Since we see each other at least once a week, he has opportunities to tease me a lot. For example, he teases me about how he got into one of Canada's top universities and how he's soooo much wiser than me. He brags about his grades and is basically rubbing his report card on my face. Another thing is that he teases me about boyfriends and constantly asks if I like anyone. He asks me which guys I'm really into and will ask me if my guy friends are "hot". He wants to know how many boyfriends I've had so far! He teases me about plenty of other things too, and the weird thing is that he ONLY bugs me and not other family members. He still likes snowball fights and water guns and video games. Yes, he really sounds like a tween kid. My friend is 20 and she is more mature than him, so is one of my relatives (she's 20 as well). Why is he just less mature than them on average? I know everyone matures differently, but he acts similar to the guys in my grade at school! They're all a bunch of goofy, immature, and loud boys. |
Question: Is my boyfriend stealing money from me? Posted: 04 Apr 2017 09:28 PM PDT On different occasions, I ll suspect that I d just been blowing off money on fast food, no more than $5 or $10 I ll be short. Recently, I ve been saving up for my baby that is on the way and had 2 $100 bills stashed in my purse (the only cash on hand) one went missing and my baby s father denies taking it, I was around his family and younger siblings at the time. When I accused him, right off the bat he said no and said he could give me $80 if that helped, it was the only cash he had. I have no proof that it was my money, do you think he gave it because he was guilty? |
Question: When my mama is under stress she vents to me? Posted: 04 Apr 2017 09:26 PM PDT I have asked her numerous of times that these issues are not mines. Especially when she is stressed out about something that's not my problem. I'm. 37 weeks pregnant and don't need the added extra stress on me. I'm also a single mom of 3 my mom doesn't respect my boundaries. She gets mad when I don't want to hear about her problems. I live with her, but am moving because I have my own life for me and my kids. I was staying with her, helping out on the rent, water, lights, and got the cable on, but it seems what I am doing and anyone else isn't good enough. |
Posted: 04 Apr 2017 09:04 PM PDT Should I miss my graduation in order to attend my nieces birthday or do I go to my graduation? My college graduation is a big deal to me, I honestly don't want to miss it. I feel as though my sister is jealous & that's why she's making me choose between the 2 |
Posted: 04 Apr 2017 08:10 PM PDT So i am a child with some attitude but working on getting nicer so my dad said if i am nice for a year than ill get 1000$! my little sister i have problems with, she gets mad over the smallest things such as if i dont give her a bite of my sandwich she wont talk to me, but than i make her another sandwich and doesnt eat it. I try hard to make the relationship work but shes just so grumpy and gets mad over the dumbest things. I just want to torture her and hurt her but its hard not to beat her up . Im a christian and dont want to sin. So today i went to her and i said we have to fix our relationship and that she needs to stop getting so mad over small things and that im trying very hard to be nice. Than she said "suuureee ur trying to be nice ur not nice! " and im like r u serious ! (My younger sister is very uneducated about the world and she thinks that everyone thinks like her so she thinks shes always right) maybe its a phase idk but i want to knock the phase right out of her. Than my dad thought we were arguing and he talked to me and said im not being nice but all i was doing is trying to solve a problem with my sister! He told me that i was lookinng for a fight but i wasnt! I was tryingg to help our relationship. Why does he think that im trying to start a fight and why is my sister like this? |
Posted: 04 Apr 2017 08:08 PM PDT It is not that I have any anger against him or anything. I just don't feel that longing for him anymore. I was not super close as he had become an addict. However, I recognize addiction is an illness so there is no ill will. I feel like I do towards an old classmate who died. I wish he was still alive but don't feel that longing for him anymore after about the first anniversary. Is this normal or am I being cold to him? |

Question: Is one child enough? Posted: 04 Apr 2017 08:03 PM PDT Our son is 5 years old and we are thinking about having another baby. Our son asks us all the time when his baby brother or sister will be here. We both work well-paid jobs and have enough room for another baby but I worry about the anxiety the 2nd child will bring..having to worry about another life...the expenses..sleepless nights..daycare..etc etc..we wonder do we want to go back to square one again! We feel selfish thinking about OUR feelings and not our sons..who probably feels lonely and longs for a sibiling.. Any advice? |

Question: What should I say to my sister ? Posted: 04 Apr 2017 07:36 PM PDT My sister is mad because her favorite singer has a girlfriend. He's too old for her anyway but this girl he's dating is 12 years younger than him. She would have been 14 years younger close enough. She hopes they'll break up but they've been together 11 years. She said it's not fair she wishes she were famous so she can get a boyfriend she's got lots of other celebrities she wants to date. She said it's not fair that celebrities easily get boyfriends / girlfriends. She has a big problem anyway he lives in New York were in Ohio that's like 9 - 10 hours away. Everyone has a boyfriend / girlfriend but her. She's feeling really upset. She wants to meet him so badly. If she does she wants to give him a kiss and a hug but she's worried his girlfriend will be mad. How can I help her feel better ? She's 24 she hasn't even had her first kiss. She feels really bad |
Question: How can I tell my parents that I was raped and I m now pregnant because of it? Posted: 04 Apr 2017 07:31 PM PDT I m 15 almost 16 and I m afraid to tell my parents about both the rape and the pregnancy becuase I m afraid of how they re gonna react. I feel like I could have stopped it but I let my fear get the best of me. I had six months of sexual abuse from this person before my parents started feeling kinda strange about him and didn t want me around him anymore. They asked if he had done anything to me but I lied becuase he threatened to expose how I had done drugs and deny anything to do with it to make it look like I was lying. He told me no one would believe me. He s a member of my family which makes it really bad because I respected him a lot. Please help. |
Question: How do I get over the anxiety that family holidays cause me? Posted: 04 Apr 2017 07:28 PM PDT My parents will not participate on my mom's side of the family and so often I do not get asked. I feel shame about this and holidays trigger that shame almost like PTSD. Easter is coming and that's one of several family holidays that trigger this pain even though it's not as big as Christmas or Thanksgiving. |

Question: Why are my children so mean to me? I have done nothing wrong? Posted: 04 Apr 2017 07:12 PM PDT I never wanted my kids but they are 17 and 18. I took them out of school in 8th grade, I never let them go back. I refuse to teach them how to drive. I refuse to give them an ssn and an ID. I refuse to get them a bike. They refuse to walk 15 miles to get to public transportation. For 17 and 18 years I have spent very minimal money on them, I buy them cheap food from dollar tree while wife and I we buy expensive for us. They have no money. I want to kick them out on Christmas Day this year. My wife says I'm wrong but I do not think I am since 17 and 18 are basically adults? |
