Since we can see each other at most weekly, we try to hang out with each other as long as possible on Fridays, which is why we spend the entire day together. We usually go outside and eat/pay for entertainment such as movies, ice skating, etc. Tomorrow however, my boyfriend and I decided to spend the whole day at his college. I plan to go up to him by train, as usual, and go to his one class that he has tomorrow to then grab some takeout for lunch. After that, we planned on heading to his on-campus apartment building so he could introduce me to his friends and reconnect me with people that we've both known since high school. Then we plan on just chilling in his room, watching movies, playing wii, and cooking food in his apartment. I didn't tell my parents the specifics on what we'd be doing if I went to his apartment but I told them I wanted to hang out in his apartment to just watch movies and eat food. Why won't they let me do this? Besides the fact that they think we might have sex, which I know all parents worry about. I don't plan on doing sex with my boyfriend at all soon, so besides the fact that they'd worry about this, what are other worries they'd have that they wouldn't let me spend time in his apartment? She said she was going to pick up her sister, then head over. Asked when she was coming, but later, I see her post a picture of snapchat of her having a little early dinner (1hr and half before we meet). 10 min after posting she said she was still out with her sister, and if we could go tomorrow. I said sure (1 flake, ok, and it sort of checked out). Next day comes around, and we already planned a time for her and I to get together, where to go etc. She then texts me saying she had to "babysit" and that she couldn't meet up with me today, because she wouldn't get home from babysitting till later in the night. I said fine, but made no offer to reschedule. Then, she again posts on social media, but this time, she's out with a group of friends downtown. However today i decided to finally go and try to talk to her after class, but when I did she kind of mumbled something and walked in the other direction, and i felt really bad and embarrassed. Alright so there's this girl id like to talk to that goes to my school.We text from time to time and well she's asked me why I don't talk to her in person and I tell her that I want to but I can't because it's so hard. Social anxiety sucks so bad it ruins everything. I have told her about me having anxiety problems and she say's it's fine. But in reality, I know it's not fine. I know that people will eventually get bored of texting you or they will eventually lose interest in you especially if you see each other at school. When I run into her sometimes we make eye contact and I wanna go up to her and say hey and conversate like a regular human being would but I end up not doing it and I begin hating myself for not doing it. I've seen videos on how to overcome social anxiety and well it sounds pretty easy that I build up this confidence so I feel calm about it but then I end up running into her and then the confidence crumbles. Most of the times I don't talk to her because a lot of thoughts jump in my mind, for example, like what am I going to say to her? Or what if I say hey and then run out of words to say just to keep a simple conversation going and then she ends up asking me why I have plenty of things to say through text than to speak of in person... We became closer during our 11th grade & during those times, she would send mixed signals towards me & until now, I'm still confused??? List of examples of her mixed signals: 1.) One time, I was behind her (she knew, dunno how) & she pulled my arm & wrapped it around her as if I'm hugging her from behind. 2.) Then there would be times when I would catch her staring at me then looking away & smiling as if she was doing this on purpose. She teases me a lot. Though, I do the same. 3.) She smiles a lot when she's talking to me & I have noticed she doesn't smile as much when she's with her best friends. My friends did notice the same, that she's happier when we're talking. 4.) She told me how she's uncomfortable talking to guys. There was this one guy last year who would butt in when we're having a convo & I'd end up going back to my seat since the guy would end up talking to her only. She then tells me afterwards that she felt uneasy & that I shouldn't have left her with him. I've been told that she never had a boyfriend before. | Question: Do coworkers ask these questions to get to know you? Posted: 08 Dec 2016 07:35 PM PST I'm currently at a warehouse job. I've been there for two months almost and I don't talk much. Yesterday my section leader paired me and a guy that has been at my current job for 8months together. Once work began he said "I'm going to be helping you out today" and I said "okay" and started to get ready for work. Then he asked me "your name is Kris right?" I smiled and said yeah. After about an hour of working together he asked me how old I was then I asked him how old he was. Then that lead to more questions, he asked me where I was from and what do I like to do outside of work and do I attend. After answering those questions he started to get a little personal with questions he asked me "did I have a boyfriend" I smiled and said no and he said "you look like you like guys with a sense of humor and I smiled and said "I do!" After that he asked "have you ever had a boyfriend" His next question was "how long have you been out of a relationship" I said it's been a long time. Then he asked me "was your last boyfriend funny or talkative" I said yeah somewhat and he asked "why are you always smiling and laughing you seem silly" I said "why does everybody say that about me" and his last question he asked was "do I like light skinned or darker guys and do I like long or short hair" Tl;dr: I feel like he asked a lot of personal questions but t is it normal for a person who never talks to you to ask thing like this.Is this a way coworkers get to know each other? |
