I'm in graduate school. I've always known what I wanted to be. I'm far from home. I talk to a few people here. Back home, I don't have a lot of friends. I can try to connect with childhood friends, but I don't know. I feel so lost. It's like what have I really done for my life? I met some people in undergrad, but no one really stuck around. I have anxiety, and it's hard for me to connect with people here. I miss my family. They make everything feel right. Should I just pull through here? I'll be here for another year. What happens after that? I've tried and failed connecting with some people here.

Alright so I'm about to finish my first semester in college and although I do get a long with my classmates and fokes and teachers and all, I have not once made any type of connection like friend-wise. I don't have low self-esteem, I'm not naturally shy (though with lack of practice I'm starting go be) I can be even really funny and even empathetic. So I am me, I have acted and still act like me when I am with someone and at first I was fine. I didn't mind walking alone around the campus, I would use it to just take in the scenery, do homework, etc. But now that the semester is ending I notice how everyone is in a group with with someone, with friends, so I noticed, I'm never with someone, ever. during classes I laugh and spend with my classmates and all but, as soon as its over, it's over, I don't see them again 'till next class. So introspecting a bit I can pave a way for friendships and all but I no idea how to make friends, as in real one, like connections. Yes I know quality over quantity and all but still, not even one?? At the beginning of the semester it was great, but then I noticed it just stayed there, no relationship developed into anything else. Now I'm not saying I feel lonely because I really do have good self confidence, but makes me wonder what am I doing wrong? Made me question how do people make friends? Ps. During high school I wasn't popular nor was I bullied or rejected or any of the sort. I was just "that guy in class that's ok". So being new even in college is just giving me the same thing.

He just began 9th grade in a regular brick and mortar hs and he is having such a hard time. He loves basketball and plays well but isn't doing too hot because he has never played for a school. He fumbles and doesn't know how to read plays visually. His teammates are horrible and say he sucks all the time and today he tells me he has a teammate that keeps hitting his but and touches his penis on the court to bother him. Ok so I'm kinda shy in the beginning but once I warm up its all cool. So there's this new youth group that I go to and I've been there once and I can already tell the girls there are not people I wanna hang out with. (Ps drama!) I'm already nervous around new people let alone boys! But I know it's better in the long term. I'm scared to hang out with them because what if we don't share a lot of common interests?? What if get really nervous and I'm just too awkward?? Please help!!

First off, I don't exactly dislike her but it's getting really annoying now. We like similar things and we get along and laugh at the same things. We have a relatively good friendship. But she is literally making EVERYTHING a competition. I swear to you she makes walking down the school hall a competition and logging In computers a competition. I honestly don't even know why. My hamster literally died today and I told her about it and she said, "yeah sorry..bruh my hair smells so good smell it." I can tell she does care for me as a friend and I do too but why do this?

So it sounds ridiculous that a 14 year old doesn't know how to make friends. The thing is that I have been homeschooled for the past 2 years (long story) and for that time, I didn't even become acquainted with anyone. I guess I just forgot how to make any friends. I tend to be shy so I'm usually not the first one to talk to someone, so how do I strike up a conversation without seeming weird or boring? How would I approach someone? This is kind of an embarrasing question to be honest.

so im 14 and my parents do alot of drugs (mostly meth) our roommate has alot of friends over that do herion and crack so our house is basically a drug house some of his friends tried to molest, I dont feel safe here. I have to sleep on a small chair in the living room that gives me back pain I dont have enough clothes and I only have a old small pair of converse that hurt my feet for shoes. I been helping a friend make dabs and clean weed he offered to take me in feed me buy me clothes and give me a nice bed to sleep in, if I help him with work, I dont go to school anymore because my parents took me out and I was born without a birth certificate so I dont have to do any paperwork to move out of my parents house, my parents wouldn't care if I moved out, but the problem is that its a drugs house too. a boy that moved in the house too because he was in a similar situation (hes 16) said he'd take care of me and make sure the junkies leave me alone if I move In. I probaly wont feel safe, but atleast I will have a full belly clean clothes and a place to sleep should I move in?

Hello, i have a friend that is a wonderful guy, with good values and morals. He is always there for me and helps me everytime I ask him. He doesn't have a lot of friends even though he is very popular in our school. He's one of those people that are very hard to understand because they have their own word. As far as i know, i'm his "best" female friend and we spend a lot of time together everyday. The problem is that he constantly repetes himself. Everytime me talk, he says the same things over and over, same jokes, stories... He also dominates the conversation. After a few minutes, i really can't listen to him anymore because it becomes boring... Many of our murtal friends try to avoid him and they say they do it because of his boring conversation. I know that this is a sign of lonliness and poor social skills. I want to help him but i don't know how... I don't want to be rude...

I have a female friend that I like very much, but we kept the friendship platonic because we're both involved with other people. We hadn't seen each other for a while, so we were keeping in touch via social media. To keep a long story short, the last thing she sent me was a heart emoji, but then joked about it and said it was sent by accident. I sent a heart emoji back and followed it up with a smiley to acknowledge the joke. Well, since then she has gone dark on me. Over the next few weeks I sent another couple messages that she read but didn't reply to. Then I sent another couple of messages that she didn't even read. I've since stopped messaging her because I don't want to be a pest. I'm heart sick about this and I don't want to lose her as a friend. Any suggestions? Should I send her another message and apologize, even though I'm not sure what I'm apologizing for? Should I ask why she's not communicating with me anymore? Or, should I just let it go and try to move on? What would you do? What would make you want to resume the friendship? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

me and my friend were recently kicked off our school dance team for smoking weed. our coach found out because my friend took a video of her smoking it and me in the video. in the video you can see i wasn't smoking the weed even though i was. i was "guilty by association" my coach said. she said that we can both get another try and be on probabtion for the team. after 3 weeks of working for our spot back we get to be back on the team. my mom kept asking the coach questions so my coach said i'm not getting another chance since my mom was "being annoying". my friend however got to stay and continue her probabtion. since my coach was being unreasonable i told my mom and we took it to the principle which resulted in me and my friend getting off the team. my friend is now my ex friend cause she said i didn't this to her on purpose. the coach and team was being sneaky and said my ex friend would become a team manager cause she wants to stay with the team. the coach and team lied to my face because one day i walked in the dance room and my ex friend had her dance clothes on and was working with the team. my friend even admitted to being back on the team. should i go to the principle with my mom again and tell them how unfair this is or should i leave the situation alone? everyone took my ex friends side and now no one talked to me anymore. not even out mutual best friends. hey took her side without asking for mine. they are all rude and basically bully me indirectly. to tell or not?

recently i found out someone was stealing pictures and videos from my phone (like they had access to my icloud) and social media and posting it on this website 4chan. i deleted all my social media and factory reset my phone and changed my apple info. i just thought it was some bored guy who followed me on instagram until today. monday i lost my headphones when my friend dropped me off at my house. i checked around my house in the street and they were gone. i figured id ask if she had them in her car the next time i saw her. today when i was leaving for school my mom noticed apple headphones tied around my railing in what looked like a bow. they had foundation my color on them so i know they are mine. i asked my friend if she dropped them off and she said she didnt even see them in her car. i know this may not seem like much but it's extemely eerie given the 4chan thing. clearly this isnt enough evidence to take this to police but im very scared and dont know what to do. please note hundreds of pictures of videos of me are on 4chan and have been passed around many sites. nothing on there is that terrible of me though. i emailed 4chan to take it down bc im underage and it said the message was denied. now the headphone thing happened and i really dont know what to do. can anyone give me some advice ?? also, my friends know what is happening online and would not try to scare me like that.

Okay so my friends brother passed away a while ago because of cancer (really sad stuff). But my issue is today i went over to my his place and he told me that he's keeping all his brothers clothes and he was even wearing his brothers jeans. Even more weird was the fact that his parents are still grieving and dont know that he as taken all his brothers clothes (yet). But yea my friend is a caring person and i have witnessed him crying allot so im not saying he doesn't seem affected by the loss of his brother. but my point is if it were me i would defiantly not feel comfortable wearing a deceased persons clothes. I didn't tell him what i thought cause we all are different but yea what are your thoughts on this. would you wear a dead persons clothes.

I was wondering how could I package those together all in one bag? My friend and me started a tutoring program and have been working hard on it for months... Today, she came up to me and said " (lets call her Nancy) wants to join our tutoring group to get money for her to buy something! lets let her in and give her 5 dolllars of our profit (our profit is 40 $ a session) and she says she has experiance and we could learn off of her!" So one of my friends has been called a f-ckboy behind his back and I heard that people said that he cheated on his girlfriend. And they also said that he's not even serious about the relationship. They said that he's only in the relationship just to..........study. But I know that's not true. I know that they are serious and that they love each other so much. My dad once told me that if something like this happens, you confront your friend and ask them/find out if it's true or not. I guess it's a sign of trust, right?. I don't want to risk them finding out who said/told me that (let's just say that by "people" i meant "one person"). But at the same time, I need/want to confront them and find out if this is true or not. If I'm a good friend, I would confront my friend about it. And I want to hear them say that it's not true, even though I know it's not. I don't want to have any doubts. But I just really don't want them to know/find out who said that nor do I want to hurt them. And we haven't known each other long, which is why I'm so scared to confront my friend about this kind of thing, especially since they are a little hot-headed. And might get into a fight easily. Which is why I don't want them finding out who said this about him. So how do I tell my friend about this in a way that I can find out if this is true or not, and not offend them or make them angry? Please help!!! I just don't know how he'll react. I have a slight idea, but I don't know exactly how he'll react. If/when I confront him, should I do it face-to-face or by text? Seems like nobody would. I mean a few people would but not the people I wish would care. Why do the people I care about never care about me? Why do the people that care about me make me so uncomfortable? I don't feel human. I feel like a monster. I wish I could just go away. I have "yes" syndrome and "everyone must like me" syndrome as well..I don't like saying no especially to my "friends" and I use the term loosely because saying no to a friend who is always there for you tends to make me the worse person ever..either they are so disappointed thst they stop speaking to me for days sometimes..I leave my feelings and opinions behind just to ensure they are happy and comfortable which I know is ridiculous but can't seem to find the strength to stand up to them..I tend to have to make up lies most of the time when they ask me for favors or to go out when I don't want to because they tend to accept those better than me telling the truth. .I'm tired of all the lies and I feel like crap for just saying no to something I don't want to do for fear of rejection. ..how can I break this cycle.

I'm a girl in 10th grade and there is this one girl at our school that I really admire. She's a year ahead of me, in 11th grade, and I don't know why I think she's so admirable but I've seen her a lot lately and I just think she's really pretty and independent. I remember seeing her silently working on her math homework in the library and thinking how dedicated she seemed. I myself am an honors student, which she is too, and, also like her, am a twin. I feel like we have something in common, and I like her sister too, but this one girl just really has something about her that makes me feel extreme respect towards her. I know that two of my friends are friends with her and her sister and I really want to start a conversation with her because I kind of feel like she doesn't know I exist. I've made eye contact with her a couple times and politely smile, but nothing past that. Hi, okay so this past semester I developed a crush on this guy in one of my classes. The class was a collaboration with a small group, and he was in my group, and my crush kind of just started. Hi.. I start to like on of my classmates on my university.. We always go out in the group of 4 for doing assigment or even just to have fun..Me,her and 2 of our friends.. Because i afraid to spoil our friendship i just hide my feeling towards her and keep if for almost 2 years. Amongst my rest of friends I always give her extra attention. ( i don't know if she notice it or not ) We are graduating from University end of this month. And should i confess to her or not? My son has been homeschooled from 2nd grade until now, 9th grade. He is a very nice young man but doesn't understand the rules of engagement of adolescent boys. 9th grade happens to be a very immature grade and he's not faring well with the other boys on his basketball team and his coach doesn't help. The coach just let's everyone laugh and pick on him. He's an excellent basketball player and wants to be able to show what he can do but they are constantly picking on him or telling him he needs to just do what's the play. I explained he does need to do the play but not let the kids bother you when you take risks and make mistakes(everytime he makes a mistake they all get angry and have something to say to him and sometimes even the coach). He's very uncomfortable. I want to speak to the coach but I also want him to be able to navigate this thing on his own. I just wouldn't want this to go too far. I'm a teacher and know very well how this grade and boys can be. They are not very kind and it usually doesn't pass until end of 9th or 10th grade. They can be jerks! What do you suggest?

Megan moved house not too long ago and is just up road from me. she texted me about walking together and i thought that would be a nice thing to do and to bond, however we did it once on Tuesday morning just gone and on the way we ended up stopping from Greggs but she forgot her purse so i gave her money and she referenced im a great friend on the journey a few times that day too. she then says when we finish she will get her purse and treat me to KFC. However we end up taking one of those other guys with us and we all eat and the next day. that sofia finds out and thinks its sly we went without her and moaning and messages megan (who was absent that next day) about it and following whatever they talked about. megan has been really off with me such as giving vaugue crummy answers such as me helping share stuff to do with her missing cat curently and she dosent seem greatful or appreciative. aand today didint really speak to me at all and talked with the others like wtf she suddenly has a problem with me as when we left she said she is getting picked up and gave one of the others a bit of chocolate and looked at me super quick before turning and going her own way like there is some sort of problem. shall i just leave this and not even bother with her anymore cause she just keeps dissapointing me to be honest

We have been friends for 12 years worked together, for a time, I helped her and her mom through cancer, Helped her when her husband was abusive, babysat and helped with her parties. We texted or talked regularly. then after I asked her to use her stove when she was home as mine broke and I had promised a bread for another neighbor who was ill. She said she was busy. I have tried to call or text and ask what is wrong she just says she is busy. I have had a back surgery and she didn't bother to check on results. I will be moving soon ( I told her that this may happen as I live with my daughter and she has a transfer) after about 10 calls should I even bother calling her and say I am leaving now?

I have a best friend with the name Davin (yahoo made me cut out my story so if you'd like to hear it.. email me at daneroux@yahoo.com) and we've known each other for a year and 2 months.. we both have people in our lives that we know are not going to be here for much longer (I'm talking about funerals).. and we both know if those people pass away.. we won't be able to handle it on our own (we live 750 miles apart so we like never see each other) and it's kinda important to have your best friend with you at times like those. So.. oneday while I was sketching and doodling ( I do art as a hobby).. I came across the idea that we should maybe enter into a we-will-always-be-there-for-each-other contract with our parents.. stating that NO MATTER WHAT the circumstance.. we HAVE to go to each other when times are rough and when someone dear to our heart has passed on. I just need suggestions on how to create the contract (ex. I, parent of Dane solemnly swear that I will, no matter what the circumstance, allow Dane to travel 750 miles, unaccompanied or not, to see Davin as Dane has to be there for him) as I'm not very good at setting up contracts as this is my first time. I would really appreciate it if somebody, who has actually read this WHOLE story, would spend a bit of their time to help me with this. I know there are some good people in this world that would do an act of kindness like this for me.. and believe me when I say I will be grateful for your input!!

My friend has to do a report on tornadoes for School she's a little freaked out she's always been afraid of tornadoes. Even watching movies like Wizard Of Oz or Twister scared her when she was younger. She's been scared since a town up north from us a few years ago got one without warning. Everyday in the summer she's check the weather before she goes outside if it's storming she freaks out and doesn't go anywhere. We had a tornado in our town years ago but luckily our house wasn't in the path of it. We're in south east Ohio we rarely get tornadoes around here. We've only had one in our life time. We don't have a basement or storm shelter we live in a trailer. The safest place we could be is in our closets or if we can we go to my uncles house across the street. She has 3 tornadoes she like to do her report on but she can only pick one. She's trying to decide between Moore Ok 1999 , Dayton Ohio 1974 or Joplin Mo 2011. She's been trying to learn more about them to get over her fears. I think it's working for her. She wants to know which tornado should she do her report on and how can she do it without freaking out ? Also she wants to know the difference between Twister and Tornado ? She's 15

I'm a 15 y.o. girl. I recently, at my request, moved to Mississippi to live with my dad and stepmom because my biological mom has drug problems and has been a very inconsistent mom (to say the least). I love her, but my dad and stepmom have always been there for me. and I needed stability. Before I made the decision to move here, my dad and stepmom warned me that they still believed in spanking as a last resort even at my age. I was kind of shocked, but really wanted to move in here, and (since I rarely get in any trouble) wasn't all that concerned. This morning I got in big trouble for something that I, in all fairness, deserved to be in trouble for. But I was still flabbergasted when dad had my stepmom take me out back and bust my behind. She didn't leave any bruises or "hurt" me or anything like that, but she did light me up something good and the pain was/is very intense. I'm just kind of shocked. I know that they love me, I'm NOT looking to turn them in or get them in any trouble (regardless of the answer to this question), but this is so far from my cultural norms that I have to ask, are they even legally allowed to do this? Is it fair at all? I just never really saw this happening at my age, and it all went down so suddenly.... Is this legal? Common? Fair? Typical? I had no school today (teacher work day) & I lied about where I was going, and yes it is a 2nd offense (I got grounded the 1st time), and lying is their #1 rule (understandably). I'm usually very honest but I was really stupid this time. The lie was about where Id been. I said I went to a friends house but I really went to a mall that is off limits because of what part of town it is in, and got a ride with a friend I'm not supposed to ride with because she is a "bad influence"
