Posted: 13 Sep 2019 01:40 PM PDT She seems to like me the most maybe because I'm single. I have two siblings and my mom is always insulting their spouses and one of the siblings as well as occasionally the other sibling. She also insults her sister all the time and various other family members. My mom is incredibly opinionated and judgemental. Her parents were the same way. I want her to like me but I don't want to have to do everything based on what my mom thinks. How do I overcome this? |

The children and she boycotted the wedding because she had a feud with the sister and therefore the kids were supposed to be in the wedding we're not able to go. She also has an alcoholic father who she said if he keeps drinking her kids are banned from seeing him, however he is gotten help and so sees them. I feel it is wrong to use kids to make a statement even in the case of alcoholism, what do you think? This cousin's mother does the same kind of thing if using the kids. |
Question: Did I do the right thing by grabbing my sister by both shoulders, read below? Posted: 13 Sep 2019 01:33 PM PDT So my sister is a narcissist. She was going off on me and locking the bathroom door when my family was on vacation this past summer. Obviously we had to share bathroom because there were 12 people at the house. After an afternoon of bossing and knowing her history of bullying me I grabbed her by the shoulders and said will you cut it out and called her a PMS B word. She scratched me and I pushed her off and in the process may have put a scratch on her. She claims now that I choked her and that she was going to call the police and that last part is absurd about the choking. So was I wrong to grab the shoulders of my 26-year-old sister who is verbally abusing everybody that has a history of verbal abuse? I am 37. I was really embarrassed because I felt like we were arguing like little kids. That said everybody agreed the wrongdoing was on my sister not me. The sister left the next day. |
Posted: 13 Sep 2019 01:30 PM PDT This past July my mom's family gathering the cat skills for six days. Everybody's worst qualities came out. My grandmother who is a wonderful person rolled her eyes and complained about everybody's personalities. My mother complained about people to the point of being mean. My aunt was the same way and had to kick her daughter out after her daughter verbally attacked her autistic son. The alcoholic uncle got drunk and my mother had a panic attack. Also everybody rolled her eyes and picked on the black sheep sister. |
Question: Shouldn't my wife want me to help her mother get back in shape? Posted: 13 Sep 2019 01:23 PM PDT My mother in law Ann, (my wife's mother) who I really like told me she wanted to start dating again and hopefully get married again. She said she had not dated in over 20 years and she wanted me to tell her what dating was like now. She wanted to know what guys would want from her. Would they want sex on the first date. I told her probably, but she should have sex when and if SHE wanted it, not her dates. She said jokingly to me "I have not had sex in years. Do you want to want to help me get back in shape for sex"? My wife said to me "If you do, you can say goodbye to your balls and I don't mean your golf balls". We all had a good laugh. Shouldn't my wife want me to help her mother get back in shape for sex? |
Question: Should I tell my parents what happened? Posted: 13 Sep 2019 11:21 AM PDT My older sister is back from college for a little bit so she's staying with us. I went to her room to get my phone charger cause she borrowed it and I saw her in bed with a guy & they were asleep. She met him in high school but he's a couple years older than her. I don't wanna be a bad sister but...eew |
Posted: 13 Sep 2019 09:38 AM PDT I can't walk to the gym because it's dangerous to walk at night so she says she'll drive me instead (I don't have a car). I used to ride a motor bike but she's not letting me use it now saying she doesn't want me dead nor want me paralyzed. I can't get a uber because it's expensive and she forces to save money so she also says she'll drive me instead. Like she's driving me to my job or when I wanna visit my friends cause I can't get a freaking uber like what the hell I'm seriously tired of this. I used to have a Facebook but for some reason I always got into online arguments which my girlfriend didn't like so she made me delete MY account and I want to make a new one but she doesn't let me because she hates seeing ppl saying bad stuff about me. Seriously what should I do? I can't even leave the house alone because she thinks something bad will happen to me like even my own mom doesn't worry like this over me. I love her and don't wanna leave her but I'm feeling so imprisoned |
Question: Does being more attractive make a difference in life? Posted: 13 Sep 2019 08:40 AM PDT People call me pretty and I do consider myself pretty, but I always see people more attractive than me. I wonder if being more attractive make a difference in person life. I did get some male interest, so I maybe it means that everyone has different idea of if beauty, since not everyone trying to marry or date the same person. |
Question: Why do females always support father's that yell their sons when they are in trouble? Posted: 13 Sep 2019 08:21 AM PDT Females around my age will always tell me my Dad us right and I should listen to my Father and they will verbally support my Dad when I am being cussed out by my Father in public and I would think them being around my age they would take my side but they never take my side. |
Question: Am I wrong for this? Posted: 13 Sep 2019 08:06 AM PDT So my sister who is 30 doesn't work and lives at home with my dad asks me to buy her Plan B for a guy she had sex with off the internet. This isn't the first time she's needed Plan B, usually my dad buys it for her, but he's in the hospital. I told her I wouldn't because me and my husband are low on money and we have no way of knowing when she'll be able to pay us back as she doesn't work. I also feel it's time she learns to be more responsible in the choices she makes. I told her to ask the guy to buy it. About 20 minutes later I get a call from my father yelling at me telling me I don't give a f—- about this family. Should I have bought the Plan B for her? |
Question: Should my sister in law be mad at me over this? Posted: 13 Sep 2019 08:04 AM PDT hoping for some advice on how to handle this ..my sister in law (hubby's sister), needs some help with her daughter's project. She came by to speak to her brother (my hubby) about it a few days ago at work.he was too busy to talk at that time, so we told her to come by after work to go over things...she didn't come....so she called us at work yesterday, asking me about some material lying around that she may be able to use..I wasn't sure, because I don't know about the building material my husband has, or where he stores them...so I put him on phone, and walked away. Anyway, last night she texed me."sorry for bothering you at work, it will never happen again" .I was surprised, because I was nice, and happy to hear from her...even accepted her request to pick her kids up from school for her today when she asked...I texted back.."don't ever be sorry!"..and I meant it...I'm always available for her.She proceeded to tell me that she didn't like the way her brother spoke to her, and she never asks for his help...I asked her what he said...she told me..."that's between him and I'.so I didn't push for any more answers ..I did tell her, that when he's busy at work, he gets short tempered...its a very stressful business, and I'm sure he didn't mean anything. Then she said..."and you don't have to get my kids tomorrow.I got it". He told me all he said was." I'm busy right now...go to Home depot and get it". Maybe he was crabby..but why is she mad at me, too? now she's ignoring me. |
Posted: 13 Sep 2019 06:44 AM PDT Abd it s not like I am trying to dress sexy or anything. I am aware that I have a nice hour glass figure and I know how to dress for my body type. I usually wear a tank top with shorts, a skirt, or pants. A flannel top, and sometimes when it s warm out but, I don t want bare legs, I will wear fishnet tights. I m not over sexualizing my body and I really feel like these remarks are coming from a place of jealousy and control. |
Question: My fiance's brother is acting weird with me? Posted: 13 Sep 2019 05:00 AM PDT Not actually directly flirting, because he always tries to be cold and aloof, but I heard a friend of his saying that he has started getting miserable when I entered their family, because since then he has started drinking and behaving moody and sad. To me he doesn't say anything, he's just cold and avoids me. Once I was in the car with them and he opened the door and looked at me straight in the eyes. Sometimes he has this sad stare when he looks at me. Once I overheard him saying 'how the hell did you get her? What did she see in you first (because I was to one to fall for my boyfriend).' It feels forced and awkward, and he scares me sometimes because of the super serious way he looks at me and the way he treats me (so cold and just asks a few formal questions). In my culture the siblings of your fiance become your brothers. He doesn't look like one. I would have been happier if my boyfriend had had a sister or a brother who was engaged, so that I would have befriended the girl. But this guy is making me feel like avoiding the whole family. I think he's sad because I feel for his brother and not for him, because all the family thought my letter was for him and not for the older brother (who is my fiance). It's making me feel awkward and the sad way he looks at me doesn't feel like a brother thing. I feel really awkward because this is my first relationship and both of them are attractive and in the same age (my fiance is 5 ys older than me and his brother is 3 ys than me). |
Posted: 13 Sep 2019 04:07 AM PDT My sister is a toxic narcissistic young adult with no soul. |
Question: Hawaii cousin situation? Posted: 12 Sep 2019 11:49 PM PDT I'm 19, my cousin is 8 or 9. Our whole family went to Hawaii to celebrate an event. Since there are so many of us we got several rentals but stayed at ours most of the time since the water was closer. We all used the outside shower to shower off before going inside. It was my turn next then his turn. He made a comment that we should shower together that I just ignored. Once my brother got out the shower I got in. My older cousin (his mom) yelled around the corner " Ulio is going to jump in with you since we have to go." I didn't respond but I seen through the cracks he was getting undressed. He walked in and started starting right away at my junk, feeling super awkward I stood in the corner covering myself with my hands and let him shower first then I finished. Why did he basically force taking a shower with me? |
Question: I have a horrible fear of my mom dying. What should I do? Posted: 12 Sep 2019 10:37 PM PDT I'm 25, my mom is 64. I have no siblings. Thinking about my mom's death makes me cry a lot. I can't not think about it for a moment. I said this to my mom too and it annoyes her. What should I do? |
Question: Why do people tell me it's my responsibility to help a loved one quit an addiction? Posted: 12 Sep 2019 10:07 PM PDT Mostly from my so called "family", although other people tell me it's my responsibility to help a loved one in my family who is an addict (father), leaves me with confusion as to figuring out whether it REALLY is my responsibility to help & if not, what can I say to counteract their dumb idiotic statements? |
Question: Why is my mom so worried and negative? Posted: 12 Sep 2019 09:57 PM PDT Love my mom but she makes me feel low . I'm a 31 year old mental health therapist. I'm new in my role and love what I do . She often asks , " can you handle it , can you handle all of that"? I don't understand why she's doubting me so much :( Every time I tell her something positive it turns into a negative or a concern . How can I stop this ? |
Question: I think that my uncle knows magic. How can I become a wizard to defeet him? Posted: 12 Sep 2019 09:31 PM PDT When I was younger my uncle used to play tricks on me like making me think he stole my nose or making me catch an invisible ball that wasn't real. As I grew he kept doing those tricks, but I know now those were only tricks and not magic but I think some of his other moves might be real magic. I've heard him talking to his lizard named Tigerdusk about scary things that aren't related to their job. I've seen him change the weather and drink potions. I think he's a dark wizard and I'm freaking the hell out. How do I become a wizard to fight him? I want to learn to throw fire and shoot lightning. Any direction is appreciated. |
Posted: 12 Sep 2019 09:26 PM PDT My parents dying put me in that situation. That's why I did all I did. Got into my dad's car that he bought new about 2 years before he died.. That I automatically inherited when he died from cancer.. Moved down South Searched for ways to legally make as much money as possible with my current skills... That lead me to Uber and Lyft and Uber Eats..and TruGreen. Saved up $60,000 cash... I got myself into a $2000 a month Lindsey luxury townhouse. Bought Ashley Furniture Serta Bedding. Sony Electronics Lenovo Computer At&t Phone and Smartphone At&t prepaid phone service and Internet Xfinity prepaid Tv GE and Cuisinart and Black and Decker and Pur appliances. Oneida dishes, glasses and silverware. Calphalon cookware The full collection of vaccum types from Bissel. Libman and O-cedar mops, brooms, buckets and cleaning supplies. Home decor from Crate and Barrel. Clothing from JcPenney and Macy's. Art Supplies from Hobby Lobby. And bought two dogs and two cats. Then joined the Episcopal Church. I did all that because it was sink or swim. That's the situation that my dad dying put me in. |
Question: What should I change my name to? Posted: 12 Sep 2019 08:53 PM PDT Fathers not in the picture and mother asked me not to take hers because hen people will know we're related. I don't plan on speaking to my family afterwards but I would like one with the same cultural roots as my first one |
Question: I feel down that some people always better than me? Posted: 12 Sep 2019 07:58 PM PDT I realize some people work harder than me that how they got more successful or rich, and they go to gym and take care of themselves so thus they more attractive me. I had hard time in past with my dad, since he can be very mean to me and my mom so sometimes I feel nervous or feel like I cant do anything. Now I am learning about life and trying to improve myself, but sometimes I feel people waay ahead of me. |
Question: "In-laws" living with in home? Posted: 12 Sep 2019 06:58 PM PDT I live with my boyfriend and his parents. It's mine and my boyfriend's names leased on a townhouse, but they live there 'in secret' with their dogs. We pay a majority of the bills and all of the rent, yet they are always fighting. "You need to do X or pay X" It gets frustrating. They're behind on some bills they owe us. Now our lease is up in a couple of months and they want us to move to be closer to where they want to be(we live in Oregon and want to stay closer in town for our jobs and they want to be in the country area for his father's job). His mother does not want to get a job and sits at home with their dogs (3 of them) and watches TV all day. I mean, I understand since they're going through stuff with finances and bankruptcy, but that shouldn't mean we have to cater everything to them. Sometimes we barely leave our room (because we want privacy) and then get scolded by his mother for not spending time with her. We're trying to establish ourselves as our own couple, but each time we try to be ourselves, we're confronted, chastised, and yelled at. I had been living with my mother & step-father prior and they never treated me like his mom treats us. We're excepted to cater to her and if we don't or if he argues back, she cusses us out, slams 'their' bedroom door and doesn't talk to us for days/weeks. I'm about to get a new job even closer to where we live now and my boyfriend and I have been talking about staying for both our jobs. Just wondering what we should do. |

Posted: 12 Sep 2019 06:10 PM PDT When I'm around those certain types of people, I feel like - my confidence is being destroyed - they're overstepping boundaries - they're overbearing authoritarians - they can't be happy for my accomplishment - I'm getting hit with reality checks What is the word(s) I'm looking for, which fit that description? Because I'm the person that doesn't want to open up to people, and I decide w Because I'm the person that doesn't want to open up to people, and I decide when I want to open up. When I'm being asked too many questions, especially personal questions, I feel I'm being made uncomfortable. Question: How could you love your abusive parent? Posted: 12 Sep 2019 05:46 PM PDT Children always wasted their love on parents who are extremely abusive towards them. It's infuriating to me. |
Question: Depressed and bored 23 year old I wanna move out to a good city? Posted: 12 Sep 2019 05:45 PM PDT I need work obviously but I may only make 21 an hour with this program that includes a few IT certificiations. I don't have a degree because I fkd it up good not only in community college but high school too. I'm turning 24 next year and would like to lose my virginity, I'm a good looking dark haired, good shape, 6foot 3 or 2 inch tall guy and I haven't had any desire to bring someone down with my misery. It's a waste because I didn't do anything in highschool and failed every class and didn't work either because my siblings made my life a total misery but now I'm gaining a bit a confidence because they have moved out and are not here to make my life hell. (Classic middle child issues). I'm thinking Las vegas because I live in california or portland but portland or denver, boulder colorado would be nicer than vegas but the nice thing about vegas is affordable rents and right now it looks like my expectation is 40-50k salary which means I could really use a place like that. The nice thing about vegas for me is I want to get into sparring/ ju jitsu so it would be a nice fit and the lake/ paddle boarding is really nice in the summer so I don't really mind the heat and am willing to adapt. So any advice? I just wanna get to a spot in my life where I can make enough to keep a roof over my head while gaining more experience within the IT field then maybe. Because once I'm out there's no way I want to come back to my family who really didn't do s*** for me. |
Question: What you think about this? Posted: 12 Sep 2019 05:26 PM PDT My sister is 28 years old she text earlier asking me for money but she got her own job which is full time. Fyi she never ask me for money until I make my own money. She even ask me can I buy her food i said sure but it can't be expensive because I'm working part time. Then she cuss me out saying I'm a cheap *** and I shouldn't treat my siblings this way and I'm not going to get no where in life. And she said she was coming to see me on my birthday in 12 days but she change her mind. |
Question: Why do babies smile and wave at me so much? Posted: 12 Sep 2019 05:23 PM PDT I was at work today and a client came in with her one year old son. He was so adorable. Him and I made eye contact and he would smile and wave at me and I would smile and wave back. Then he walked up to my desk, under his mom's supervision, and smiled and waved again and I did the same. I'm flattered by the attention I received, not to sound conceited. |
Question: Why my mom insult me and hit me once because of I was overweight? Posted: 12 Sep 2019 05:05 PM PDT I was thin till 14 and i became chubby all my mom did was insult me and sometimes we fight about it, and one time we got invited to a party she kicked me afterward ( im not lying ) because I was the fattest one there.
