Long story short, my family just got into incredible money trouble and serious debt. Me, my mom and rest of my family just found out about some gambling my dad has been doing over the past few years. Im going to pay for my college and apartments in the future, which is fine. Im 19 at a community college living at home right now and next year im going to a 4 year college. My room is upstairs and everything else is downstairs. My mom is literally always angry at my dad and they are always yelling (understandable) and it often turns into her being really sad and not wanting to talk to my dad. He texts me to see if i can go talk to her, which i do. My thing is i feel weird being here now. When they are downstairs yelling, am i supposed to do nothing and just sit upstairs? I feel useless in this scenario. My dad comes and talks to me and always is fighting back tears bc he knows he messed up, and im nice to him bc even though he messed up big time i feel bad. I hear some of the things she says to him and its just absolutely brutal. Gambling is very addictive and a disease. How do i handle this and how to act?

So I've got a problem a big problem and that problem is my father. My father has spent practically my entire existence sleeping and yelling at me, siblings and our mother he's a basically a 53-year-old with the mentality of an infant. He wakes my mother up at 3 am just to make him a sandwich (Please keep in mind my mother is an extremely ill old lady who recently had brain surgery). This year he started to clean up his act and was the perfect father for a couple of months he was spending time with me, he started doing things by himself and even started to help my brother who struggles with addiction but he went on vacation it was supposed to be a short 2 week vacation but he ended up staying for 2 months and when he came back he was back to being garbage I honestly felt cheated. I had finally gotten my father back only to have him taken away from me? Not even a day after coming back he was screaming at my mom blaming her for all his problems and when she locked herself in her room crying I confronted him and asked him to check on her, the bastard said he was happy she was crying. I had genuinely never felt so angry in my life but anyways I'm rambling I just want my father back and looking for some advice. (I apologize for any punctuation mistakes I tried my best)

I'm 17 & I hate my life. I've been bullied throughout high school & I live with a dysfunctional family. I've been depressed for years but nothing changes. I love my mom & I know she tries her best for me, but she won't leave my toxic dad & takes her misery out on me. I love my dad but he only cares about himself & he's addicted to alcohol. I always wonder if they would be better off without me. I can't take living in this town anymore, the only person I'm hanging on for is my boyfriend. I love my boyfriend & he's amazing but I feel I'm not good enough for him & that I'm a burden. I don't know when I'm going to feel myself again, I forget what it feels like to be truly happy. I attempted running away years ago but I was too scared so I just went back home. I give up trying to talk to people about my problems because no matter how hard I try, nothing ever changes. I just want to run away from everything. I have goals for the future, but I know I'm never going to get there. Whenever I have good relationships with people, I push them away to avoid being hurt. I'm depressed & feel alone, I can't be happy when I'm constantly living in negativity every day. I turn 18 soon & need to get away. I have a job but only get paid minimum wage. I just want to get away & never talk to anyone ever again but don't know how. At this point, I'd rather be homeless.

He's 7 and I put a knife in his lunchbox for his lunch not knowing that knifes are prohibited on school grounds. He and his classmate got into a fight and he stabbed his classmate in the chest, who was pronounced death at the hospital an hour later. He already got expelled from school for this. Will he have to face jail time also?

Firstly, she is my best friends aunt, an older lady. She tends to be very straight forward and doesnt seem to have any form of filter.She's practically my aunt, I even lived with her while my parents were having issues. We're all really close but she tends to cross a lot of lines she always has. We've had multiple conversations about boundries over the years bc a lot of times when I bring it up it gets played off and innocent fun and games, and is dismissed. She's like 50(something) and I'm 22 (guy) so no one really thinks anything serious of it. We live in small town so its impossible to avoid her and after all these years, everyone knows how she is but it's become "normal". Fine whatever, my bad for letting it get as far as it has but she has gotten WAY worst with it this year she has no respect for boundaries or lines, or me being uncomfortable.  My friend noticed that she's more forward about it too, and no matter how many times we've discussed it, the issue is ignored and no one cares at this point. I really dont know what else to do, I dont want to press formal charges or report her for harrassment or whatever (she's like a mother figure to me) andfeel kinda bad since I let it go one for all these years and I know that's my fault, but honestly it's gotten ridiculous lately and way worst than b4.  Minor vauge examples (if you must) she puts her hands where they dont belong. She's bitten my ear, licked my neck from behind and is very verbally inappropriate.

We plan on moving out of state (From Florida to Vermont) in the next 6-9 months. It will be me, my husband, 14 year old son, and 19 yr old son. Problem is, my 19 yr old does NOT want to go. He has friends and a girlfriend. At 19 I know I cant force im to go but he works 15 hours a week at Panera, has no car, and is the most lazy unmotivated and helpless teenager out there. He thinks he can live on his own when I know damn well he cant. But I know moving him to Vermont will cause a huge fight and he'll be miserable. He wont listen to me when I tell him unless he gets a REAL job and a car he wont make it. He cant even make toast ffs. Advice PLEASE

Me and my dad were arguing the other day and he said I have no purpose, that I just exist. I have a lot of friends, and got into a really good college and am involved with organizations on campus. However, his words have stuck with me. It's one thing to hear from a stranger, and one thing to hear from your own parent. He has been verbally abusive in the past as well, but I won't go into what else he has said on here. I guess, how do I convince myself he is wrong? How do I feel better about myself? This has really taken a toll on my self esteem

Is it weird to be sexually attracted to my 13 year old step daughter? STEP DAUGHTER! NOT BIOLOGICAL! I have been married to her mother for five years. Her parents were both Korean, born in America. Sorry for the long post: My father is law is a horrible person and my husband see it but he recently lost his mom so won't stand up to his father. My father in law house is nasty, our family 15 of us spent the weekend cleaning what we could, which are the rooms you can see when you come in, due to we found out someone called adult protective services. We did not get a thank you or anything. My question since the front rooms are now clean will adult protective services want to go into the room or open doors we could get in some to clean and other we just ran out of time.

I haven't been with my ex in 2 years nearly, we share a child so unfortunately I still have to keep communication with him. Anyways we are both going through hard places in life him because of lack of motivation, me because when I left him my life went down for the worst. So for our son we decided to stay in my sisters place for the remainder of the lease. Everything seems okay for the most part but I can't stand to see the way he treats my son at times. He's been sick for a day or two, Fussy and here goes my ex yelling at him or talking really loudly and it makes our son cry louder. My sister has a attitude that she's always right and thinks everything she does is right one She loves money and was even saying to our mother how money can buy happiness and how she wants a sugar daddy. We're a middle class family where we only get salary just from dad. She always thinks that we are blaming her for nothing and blames her anxiety for it. I know why people with anxiety might have a tough and hard time but she always think that our dad hates her and says our parents like me more than her when I still wear a shoe from three years ago but I don't say much because I always see my parents having tough time with money but she wants new shoe and new dresses and also new phones. When we let her use an old iPhone, she doesn't want it because it's a used one and that we're being partial. I don't know what to do. Our family never seems to get along with her and I don't even know how to fix this.

So for context, I m 21 years old, living with my dad. He s been unemployed for the last 6 years now, mainly due to what I believe to be severe depression (though he s never been diagnosed). I have been the sole source of income in our house since last November when my mother passed away, and I ve about had enough. My father s (previously quite big) savings account has just about run dry, and I ve had to devote my entire income to paying our bills for the last 8 months or so. All he does all day is sit on his computer, only leaving the house to buy food, cigarettes, or beer. Moving out isn t an option for me right now, as I don t own/can t buy a car. Is there anything I can possibly do to motivate him to get a job? Don't know why the apostrophes in my question disappeared, sorry if that's annoying! Info I forgot to add: dad is 58, not disabled, and hasn't received any government assistance during his unemployment.

So my 2 sons ( one is 6 years old and the other is 8 years old) got into a fight and they for the first time were actually hitting each other, and of course i stop the fight. And i made my sons hug and tell each other " I love you" and give a kiss on each other cheek. After 5 minutes they finally did what i said, they hugged, they told each other "I love you" and they kissed each others cheek. Has it too much? (I just dont want my 2 boys to be mad at each other, they are blood brothers!) Was i wrong by doing this?

A suburban white middle class lady who drives a mini van or SUV whose kids all play soccer. Who is obsessed with her family and that's all she talks about. She works, cleans, and takes care of her kids. She is very overprotective and will stand up for her kid even if he or she is wrong.

My little brothers friend tends to go over the top with his drinking and I'm usually the one called to go pick them all up. I really dont mine being designated driver bc I dont really drink, not in those scenes (just occasional beer or wine). Anyways, one of my brother's friend, 22, usually drinks about his weight (not much) in booze by the end of the night when the do go out "drinking", "partying", "clubbing" "bar hopping" whatever. By the time to pick them up, my brother and his friends either act clownish or fatigued. This one friend though gets combative almost every single time. It's a who fiasco to get him to chill out long enough to talk to him, then, it takes forever to convince him that we're "good guys" and trying to get him home. The whole car ride someone has to watch him with the door bc he tries to open them. Sometimes, at some point during the driving to drop them off, he forgets the long a$$ conversation had and someone has to hold him still and shut him up so I can drive. It's super annoying but like I said, I dont mind looking out for them, (as if theres an alternative. They've tried getting Ubers but they dont have the time or patience for him, understandably) just wondering what the deal is? When he's sober I joke sometimes and tell him he's allergic to drinking but he has a really bad reaction. But they all seem to think it's normal.

Our daughter use to be his world, and they were so much alike. She loved doing things with her Dad. No matter what he was always there for her. Now that this other woman, if you want to call her that has been in the picture he degrades her and cusses at her. She is a very smart child, she is a honor roll student, in National Beta Club, and is taking AP classes. It hurts me when he calls her stupid and calls her bad things. I know he hates me, for findinf out about his nasty other woman, and betrayal. No man should ever put his children down. She is already hurting enough from what has taken place, this is by far more hurtful to me. I guess it's because all her kids live else where and has no morals for being a mother, he thinks he has to be like her?

I want to be there for my daughter to encourage her but it's hard because I work full time as a police officer.I found out about the situation through some of her classmates that I saw walking home from school.  When I asked them about it they told me that Sarah told the other popular kids not to associate with my daughter anymore because my daughter went on a date with Sarah's crush jeremy. Sarah wanted to date jeremy after he broke up with Sarah's friend amber. Sarah is the head of the cheerleadering squad. I believe that Sarah is jealous because Jeremy chose my daughter over her. I like jeremy because he reminds me of myself when I was in junior high school, he is tough yet very polite and well mannered. My daughter is sad that they are not speaking to her anymore and sitting with her during lunch. How can I help my daughter get back in the popular clique?

It used to be that my husband worked and I stayed home with our kids. Now that they're both 11 years old (twin girls) I decided to get a job. It will give them so much independence too. By law, they're old enough to be alone for a short period of time. Once I get busy, I'll probably have less time for my daughters. In a way, I worry that they might spend too much time on the computer (they have no smartphones or iPads). I hope me and their father taught them enough to do the right thing.

He then threw away one of our plates after eating saying that his paper plates are thicker than those. I take everything they do personally since the stuff they said and haven't even mentioned it. You can't treat people bad and expect them to get over it with no apology! I love their son so much and he's talked about our future together but every time I frown because he deserves a girl who his family will get along with and I deserve to be happy and comfortable with my s.os family. What would you do?

It's been a really rocky road for me and I've made some dumb decisions so please no negative comments. Im 20 years old I used to have my own place with my now ex boyfriend I have 2 kids with but I ended up leaving him because he was very abusive. And now I'm living with my grandmother again. I have a car but my ex messed it up to where I can't drive it I have no money to fix it my grandmother doesn't want to drive me to look for work or too work everyday when I find a job, I have no public transport nearby or work nearby I'm literally staying in the middle of nowhere. I'm getting no help whatsoever by the father so I'm getting no income even though he's on child support he isn't there physically either. I don't have a computer at home just a phone. So I need advice on how I can get on my feet if anyone has good ideas because I have non and I'm really trying to do my best for me and my kids.

Ever since I got older 17-19 I started to not want to do anything my parents asked of me unless it was miniscule. When I'm home by myself I end up doing more than what my parents ask of me, but when they ask me while being home I'm extremely hesitant and I don't understand why. I don't want to be this way. I want to be better. Is there a reason for this that I'm missing? Is it an authority problem? If there's any way someone can help me out I cant tell you how much I would appreciate it!
