My mom had a one night stand 14 years ago. She decided to keep the baby (Rach) and marry the baby daddy (Nick) with little knowledge of him. Things eventually got bad 7 years later and one night he physical hit me. (I am a child from a previous marriage) My mom interfered resulting in her being choked by Nick. I moved in with my dad a few days after the incident but my mom stayed married to him. A few years later she did research on him and discovered he had a child before they met but he beat his baby mama. This was on record. My mom divorced him but when Rach turned 10/11 Nick became verbally abusive to Rach constantly. With occasional physical abuse. Rach called me tonight telling me he dad was angry she was asleep and dragged her from the couch and kicked her. She told me and my mom she didn't want to see him anymore. My mom has been debating if she should call the cops. I wanted to give a little background. Here are my questions. Should my mom call the cops? Since Rach is 14 will this give her more say in what home she wants to be in? My mom is on medical cannabis, will this hurt her in court? Will Nick's past help us in court? Any suggestions on what we should do?

my husband and I have been together for 10 years, we now have a newborn son. My husband and I both grew up in households where people were always coming and going. I personally hated the "open door policy" growing up and couldn't wait to have my own place. We have a house and have lived here for a few years now and people never really stop over or visit because they know I hate it. My husband has really struggled with depression and says he's lonely he wants people over ALL the time, even saying gen wants his friends crashing on couch or just being able to walk in whenever. Okay, so my father is an old schooled man. He thinks women should stay in the kitchen while men should do outdoors work and be served whatever they want. My husband and I are in a weird place right now. When we met 10 years ago I was living with my parents who were verbally abusive toward me. Now my husband is convinced that I only love him because he took care of me and that is not the truth at all! As I've mentioned before, my 50 year old twin brother is going through his 2nd divorce. He wouldn't stop paying escorts for sex even after his wife found out. They had to sell their house and he had to move back in with our parents. He's been sleeping on their sofa for a little more than a month. I have one because I love to cook. My mom recently was given one because she is always baking cakes, pies, etc. But the level of expertise my brother has when it comes to cooking is probably frozen chicken tenders. The mixer is sitting in my parent's storage room with no plans to open it until he moves out and there's no date on that. I'm just of the mindset that when you're homeless and crashing on someone's sofa you don't accumulate stuff. You work on finding a place to live. But I guess he feels that he's got this money to burn so he's going to burn it. Are his priorities in the wrong place? For example my husband always comes in and turn the lights off on me when he's ready to sleep without letting me know he is ready for bedtime. I find it kind of disrespectful. But I usually stay in the room in the dark on my phone. But my counselor told me to speak up when I feel disrespected. I've been married for 3 years with my amazing husband. But the last 2 years have been tough. First we had planned to go on a 6 month trip around the world and just focus on us. A month into the trip I started having anxiety and full fledged panic attacks so we had to abort it. I've been dealing with that for almost a year. My husband has been very supportive but it takes a toll on him as well, on us as a couple. It's hard being with someone who can at times can barely go on a train ride. He also got an amazing job offer which, because of me, he couldn't take. The job would require a lot of travelling and being alone right now is difficult for me. I got to therapy on my own but we also started seeing a marriage counsellor because this is affecting our marriage. During a session he said: "I love you but I feel like you are very selfish. I know why you are selfish but everything is about you. The first year of our marriage, when you were well, you forgot that you were married. 2-3 weekends/month you spent with your friends and family. I have sacrificed travelling for you, I have sacrificed a career move for you, what have you sacrificed for me? All I ever wanted from you was a partner in crime that I could enjoy life with. That's not what I got". You have any idea how it feels to be in someone's way? To feel like they would be better off without you? I know I have made mistakes but I am doing my best to fix them. Is he better off without me?
