I'm very similar to my dad(artistic, comedic) but my mother is more reserved and doesn't like anything I do. I have 2 older sisters who have always been close to eachother but I've always been left out, ever since I was young. My mother acts like I hate everyone in my family because I'm quiet and like to see my friends more, but truth is every time I'm myself in my house I always get criticized one way or another or my mother tries to argue with me about something. (Note: we aren't the richest people) I know they love me and my mom overall does the best she can for us but I always seem to be the core problem to everything because I like videogames, or because I watch Netflix in my room, literally I was sitting down and didn't say anything and my mother just starts yelling at me. I don't do drugs I don't drink I'm not pregnant I do sports like what am I doing wrong? Am I supposed to change because I've tried. It's like I'm in the wrong family, anyone have any suggestions or are in the same situation? |

She's walked in on me changing more than five times, I would say. So I asked her if she would start knocking. She did, meaning she knocks twice and then opens my door immediately after, not waiting for my okay to come in. So I started locking the door. She gets pissed at me when I lock the door, but that's the only way I know of to prevent her just coming and going as she pleases. She's threatened to take my laptop or my phone away because of me locking the door or because of me being angry when she just walks in, and many times she has acted on those threats and I would go days (once even 2 weeks) with neither my laptop nor my phone. Whenever I'm not home, she snoops around in my room and starts searching through my things. I once got grounded for having a password on my laptop. She's since made it a rule that I'm not allowed to be on the internet (which, according to her, also includes just doing anything on my laptop or my phone) after 9:30 PM. I have insomnia so I'm awake until close to 7 or 8 in the morning everyday so you can imagine my sheer boredom and frustration when she enacted that rule. I'm 14, have a 3.8 GPA, I don't do drugs or smoke or drink or throw parties or anything like that. I don't have any friends (that's a whole other story I'm not going to get into) so I don't go to or throw parties. How do I get the point across that I need privacy? I ran out of characters so I would like to add that what I do on my laptop includes of browsing tumblr and writing. That's it. I don't watch porn or talk to people. And I've got no books to read because all the ones I own have been read twice over by yours truly. It's like I'm living in a mental institution. |

I work at Stevi B's, I have my licence, my own car, and starting work again. I pay my own phone bill and car insurance and I never ask her for anything (with the ecxeption of household items like cleaner, dish detergent, basic groceries). She and I don't get along so the plan between my mom and is for me to be out of the house as soon as possible. Clayton State University in Morrow, GA is closest to where I live now and she's hounding me about being accepted there. I want to study architecture at ITT Technical Institute and earn my Associate, then Bachelor degree. Classes are supposed to start in September and I am in the process of getting accepted and starting . My mom wants to know what my plan is by August 1st... Well, my boyfriend's mom offered to help me out and give me a place to stay. If I live there (with my boyfriend, his two younger sisters and his mom), I'll be away from my mom and I'll be able to go to the ITT Tech campus in Duluth (30 minutes away from the house) instead of wasting time at CSU). How can I move out after my birthday but still keep my real plan under wraps? |

She knows i dislike him. Basically because of the way he treats her. He has cheated atleast 20 times, got another girl pregnant, he doesnt do for all 3 of their kids, he doesnt want to work, hes tried to put hands on her plenty of times and he even almost got her locked up whike she was pregnant. She will come around whenever he decides to leave her and rhen when he comes back i dont hear from her anymore. The last time was so bad that i decided that blood or not i am done with her but because shes pregnant again and doesnt have help or a job i said i would help. Like lately she has beeb asking me to take hee EVERYWHERE. especially after i have been on my feet at work all day. And when i dont do it she gets an "dont worry about it" type attitude. I dont want to be mean or just leave her hanging but i dont really want to do all of that especially when she knows my car isnt in the best of shape and i barely have gas money after bills. It's about 11-12 hours up there, and my family has a vacation home there, so housing isn't an issue. I consider my friends and I to be responsible people, and we plan on paying for most, if not all of the costs (gas, food, activities, ect) but it comes down to whether or not our parents will let us go. While I respect the fact that our parents want to protect us. This would be a good way to experience some independence, before we leave for college in a year, so basically my question is; would you let a group of five responsible 17 year olds go on a road trip by themselves? If yes; do you have any tips on convincing our parents? If no; would you let us go the summer after senior year when we're legal adults? I think it should also be noted that we don't want to go up there to drink and do drugs without our parents knowing, we really just want to experience the independence, and spend some time together in someplace beautiful like New Mexico. |

I found a place that I like and I like the location. I paid my application fee, done the job verification, landlord verification and now all of a sudden they tell me that they need to do a home inspection and work place visit..huh? I'm not section 8, I've never had any evictions. Am I weird that I'm completely uncomfortable with this? My current landlord doesn't do home inspections on my unit so why do they want to do an inspection of my current apartment? I'm thinking of saying no... |

I was going to a community college, but since i'm bad at math I've failed two courses. I was placed on academic hold and now my father is going nuts. Every time he sees me, he says I need to get a job and I'm a piece of **** who keeps eating his food. Right now i'm trying to create a portfolio so I can go to Art School. However, in my father's eyes, i'm just a "leech" and I'm only raising his bill, so he kicks me out every time he gets off work, I've tried to get small jobs but no one wants to hire me, and internships won't take me (no experience). I suffer from depression, and I have anti-social tendencies. I have no money, nothing besides my parents who don't help me with anything besides housing. Now, he wants to dictate my future and I'm not having it. I just don't know what to do anymore. maybe jumping off a bridge will be my best option. |

They make fun of people, and since my brother.never sees them they yell at him for trying to get theur attention. They're always on thier phone and when i try to talk to then it's like they never hear me. I told them i was sad and my mom literally said, "You're not allowed to be.depressed." They say the n- word, and it just makes me crawl inside. They laugh at me when i cry, and they smack my brother. I watch them with my dogs and i just get so discusted at how crewl they are. They yell all the time and my mom screams that she's going to choke our dogs. I think my mom has a problem with ordering things online, because we get package after package at our door. Once, my mom started slamming the chairs against the floor.because.she was angry. When she's mad she just walks away and.doesn't talk to you and murrmers this about yoy.behind your back. When i try to tell them about how i feel they get defensive and when people.come over they twist the situation and.tell them that i said thinhs that i didn't. Whenever they make a rule and i ask them about it.they always say "don't be a smart@$$" I feel so bad, because i know that they provide for us, but i just get so angry at them sometimes. My brother would always pester me with questions with no purpose whatsoever just to know. It's intrusive. Like in my current living situation. Homeless. Living at my uncles house as an unwelcomed guest with both him and my mum. sharing a room. And being asked where am I going.. Everytime. To the toilet. Or if I say "in the kitchen, then the question is why. I can't say anything because he will threaten to destroy what he's boughten me. He threatens me everytime he's had a bad day. Throws stuff slams the door and has a tantrum. And my mum just watches. Doesn't do anything. He treats us like garbage, but is very dependable when the situation calls for it. like leadership. I hate unnecessary violence. And now we are renting an apartment as of next week. Where there is no choice but to stay. Because getting a job after selfishly choosing to be a slacker is so damn hard. And I don't have it in me to abandon someone willingly. How do I get this grown man to wake up. He's 27. These last 6 months have been really hard on me. but I try not to show depression. because i'll get yelled at. I've considered killing myself but I don't have the balls to do it. It ruined his and my mums marriage when i was 7 and it has honestly ruined his life. He used to work with my grampa on a salary of over £100,000 a year and now he struggles with debt and works 100+ hours a week being completely honest. He has been violent towards myself, my family members including my mum and brothers, etc throughout the last 20 years. He has recently moved back in with us and he is out of order we have tried everything and it doesnt work. Alcoholic Anonomys etc is useless. He is 48, he has high blood pressure and is seriously unfit I can guruantee he will be dead before 50 if it continues. Its not that he cant face his problem he has admittrd his addiction and face the problems he is just very pesimistic about life and believes everything is pointless and because of this he is willing to face he consequences. He drinks any chance he gets. Any family outing anywhere. He even steals my 18 and 21 year old nrothers drink out their cupboards. My mum keeps very unwell and the stress he cause her cannot continue but she doesnt do anything about it because she loves him. Can he be sent to rehab without his consent ? Like seriously even a private one somewhere the only way he will change is by force . I doubt this is possible but you never know, Thanks |

Posted: 16 Jul 2015 12:19 PM PDT They're so different as brothers but I gather that they got along well until their parents had a divorce a few years ago. My BF is closer to his mom while his elder brother is closer to the dad (who's extremely arrogant, btw). When there's a family gathering where both my BF and his brother are attending, that jerk always gives my BF a put-down. Like, he mocks my BF for having studied (and now teaching) violin at an actually prestigious (!) conservatory. He said it's for sissies. Last time he did it at their mom's birthday dinner, I told him before everybody else that my BF probably earns more than he does or ever will (my BF's brother works for an IT company). The jerk ignored me and didn't stop until their mom told him to leave. My BF never confronts him openly. He said he doesn't like having an argument before others b/c it will only make things worse. However, I feel uncomfortable that he lets his brother walk all over him like that. Am I wrong feeling like this? Isn't it better for my BF to confront him openly? My BF has tried to talk to his brother in private but it doesn't help, and my BF just lets it go. Idk if this is b/c my BF is several years younger and younger brothers tend to let themselves be dominated? In any case, this annoys me a lot. Thoughts? |

Never have issues with anyone, well, except my mother. She still brings up things I did when I was 5 and throws it in my face at 33. She never let's anything go. She complains all she cares about is her family and acts all nice when other people are around, but as soon as people are gone she just goes back to the vindictive and psychotic rants. And she wonders why I stopped coming to see her. |

My mom is awesome in the sense that she is very caring and responsible. She gave me her mercedes benz as a birthday present and she bought another one. But....she is very materialistic and mean to other people. For instance, i was being bullied real bad in school. She came up to the school, threatened the kids, the principles and one of the bully's parents. She went to jail for that and got right back out. Every time i have an issue with a bully, she's ready to fight. Then she drinks sometimes and really gets belligerent. Don't get me wrong, she's a very great mom and raises me and my sibilings alone but her temper is what scares me and when she is drunk, it gets worse. My dads sister called her talking crazy while my mom was working and my mom threatened her too..told her she'll f_ck her up with no problem. The other issue is i think i honestly get picked on because we have too much. My mom spends like $800 on hair extensions for us, designer bags, diamond earrings and designer clothes. I asked her can we tone it down a bit and she snapped at me...told me it was her money and she'll do what she wants for her kids and this is stuff she didn't get growing up all the time Everytime i come home, i got something fr her. She's awesome but she's do mean to everyone else and she's always getting into fights with other parents because their kids try to take stuff from me or bully me. What can i do? |

I ve been treated terrible by them and i can tell because my great grandma always wants to talk to my other cousins, who she sees basically every day but she never wants to have anything to do with me. I have not seen her in 4 years and she does not show any affection towards me. She never tells me that she loves me, and she always gets extremely mad at me for the littelest things. She never takes me anywhere, but she always goes to places with my other cousins. She does not care about the bad things that my cousins do. One of my cousins did drugs and she did not get mad at him. But when i accidentally drop something she screams and yells at me. I had the last of it today and i called my mom and told her everything. I love my mom so much and she is the world to me, but im so disgusted with her. She was mad at my family for them treating me like this and i felt happy that someone genuinely cared about me. So she was really mad and she wanted to talk my great grandma. My great grandma told her lie after lie about me, saying that i was a burdon to her and that im un greatful and that im a spoiled rotten brat. I didn't know I was going home after school, since my dad didn't tell me. I don't recall my grandma telling me. I told her this, and straight away she said "well, I told you yesterday. I know I did" all grumpily and mardy. I just said I didn't remember, and she repeated herself. She's so rude, and I went upstairs to my room where I am now, after crying a little. She thinks she's always right. She always looks at my laptop and things, and always hangs around my room, even after explaining that I'm busy writing or doing something. Then she says I'm grumpy. I'm only grumpy because she is!! My school is in my home city, and where I am now is over 24 miles away. I have to get 2 buses to school, and 2 back. I have to get up at ten to six in the morning and be out by ten to seven. She wakes up at ten past six. I said to her, since school is really hard, "I'm just really tired because of school. It's quite stressful" and her response is "well, It's been hard for me too! Waking up at six in the morning". Fair enough, but last time I checked she didn't have to spend an overal time of 2 and a half hours a day on buses, or 6 hours and fifteen minutes at school. And I'm doing GCSE work! She's stressing me out so much. What do I do? Any answers saying "blah blah, stop complaining" will be deleted. I can't complain at home or to anyone. I have no one. If our ages help in anyway: I'm turning 15 in two months and she's turning 62 this year. Literally none of my friends have grumpy Grandparents. If by temperament you mean me complaining or being grumpy, I haven't said any of this to her. I just sit back and take it. And I don't say "leave me alone". I say "Grandma, I'm a little busy right now with this. I'll come down and see you in a minute". |

One mile. 0.9 actually. Apparently that isn't close enough. I guess my mother in law also things that our house isn't big enough for our family of 4, soon to be 5, so she is offering to help us get into a house that is just a few houses up the street from her. Our current house has 4 bedrooms, and a full basement. The bedrooms are all a good size, and the basement isn't finished, but we've thrown down a rug, and we use it as a family room. We have a small kitchen and a small living room on the main floor. My husband often complains that we don't have a garage, and I really wish we had a master bedroom, but otherwise I really love our house. This house that she wants to help us with also has our bedrooms, so that isn't any better. There is a garage, and a master bathroom, but much less storage space since there is no basement. There is a nice family room though, and the kitchen is considerably bigger. Overall square footage is actually about the same if you count our unfinished basement. One of my biggest concerns though is that my husband and I were really proud of buying our house on our own, and have been paying for it completely on or own, and have not needed any help from anyone. I'm afraid that if she helps us to buy this house we will be like renters in her house. What would you do? I meant our family of five soon to be six! I seem to have forgotten a kid :) |

(prior to his mother s stroke he did hold a job to help support them) I m not in a strong enough financial situation to help them directly, and I d appreciate any suggestions on what I could do to help them or suggestions I can pass on to them. |

Posted: 16 Jul 2015 10:55 AM PDT My mum has bipolar disorder, and she's depressed and she was crying today and yesterday,I tried to comfort her today and make sure she was alright but she was being really blunt with everyone in the house (me,my sister) so anyway I fell asleep for about an hour.. Woke up at 3 o clock and she was gone.. I thought she had just gone out to the shop but it's unusual because she never leaves the house without telling either me or my sister where she's going.. Also, she never has her phone off. I've tried ringing loads and its switched off. She's been out 4 hours now I'm really worried, I've also asked all her friends if they're with her or know where she is..none of them know? What should I do? It first came on when I was 9 I stopped watching it when I was 10. I hated it. I can't stand Ruby's voice. She's suppose to be like 6 or 7 she acts like she's 16. I looked through the hole and it was my brother's roommate, I went to go get a robe really quick because I don't dress what I was wearing infront of him and then I answered the door. I told him what he wanted and he said he needed to get things, while he was getting a few things I went back to the couch and eat my pizza. My brother's roommate said if he could watch a movie and eat pizza with me and I said okay bc it's his apartment. There's is only one couch so he got under the blanket with me. When I saw that he didn't unlock the door I went to go lock it and forgot to put on my robe, when I went to go lock it, I saw that he was checking me out and my face was completely red. And he was like your really cute when you blush and I just ignored him. then I went to go sit. I went to get a drink and he came with me I tripped on something and he tripped and he was on top of me on the floor. He didn't get off top of me, he started to look into my eyes and tried to kiss me but I said what are you doing and he said nothing. And when he got up, he kept on looking at me. He sits on his *** all day&plays bf4. The difference between when he plays&when I play is that I will get off at any time to help my parents or to get something done. I sorted my clothes&brought his clothes to his room, but later I find them in my room. I tell my mom&she says he'll do it tomorrow. All day tomorrow-nothing. I wait it out&eventually she makes him do it. He's mad at me for telling him to do it, trying to make a good example as the older kid. Later when I go into my room, which I might add is pretty damn clean, I can't find my wallet. I open my drawer to get my $80 sony earbuds I got on sale for $30&they are cut apart. I go down to tell mom&she says my brother will buy me new ones. But only up to $15. Because... Reasons. I make the mistake of asking if I may research a pair on my own&come to her to OK it. But she gets mad, says I'm never grateful,&sends me to my room. I get angry&look up to see my brother filming me. Never mind he's in trouble & has broken my stuff and stolen $120&a $30 knife. So I grab the phone from him & my mom comes up, sees me trying to delete stuff from his phone&slaps me hard on the mouth, ignoring the fact that I had wisdom teeth surgery 4 days ago. Which means our friends barely knew about us and our families have no clue. He suddenly died last week and since he is not from here his parents took him back home and that was it. I tried contacting them once explaining how he had friends that would want to attend the service and they said they only want family there. I do understand where they are coming from but it also hurts that they won't even take into consideration the fact that he had people that loved him outside of his family. That would also like to say goodbye. He is now half way across the country and I know nothing. It seems as if everything I do is wrong here. I get yelled at him for asking a question, I get yelled at things that cannot clearly be my fault. (ex. His Quickbooks had multiple entries for the same customers, which had been this way for years, and after I started all the sudden I was getting yelled at and told to fix it, that it shouldn't be there. Or yelling at me because files were missing from 3 plus years ago that I clearly had no part in controlling) He tells me we can't spend any money, but I don't anyways, I have no access to Visas, or gas cards, or anything other than the card for office supplies, I log in purchase orders and bills and pay them, do payroll, and pay taxes. Last month he took the last 2 colored inks, when I told him I will need to order more he screamed that we can't spend any money. So I didn't, and yesterday my shop manager ran out of those 2 colors and my Dad yelled at me for not having them. I drive 45 minutes to come to this job, and now I am 6 months pregnant, which is another problem for him, and why he won't give me more money, because I have to take hours off for doctor appts.I just don't know if I should quit. There was another girl working here but she quit with 1 day notice so now I do both of our jobs. I took this job to help him out. He wanted me to learn the business so that he can retire and I can take over, but teaches me nothing about operating it. Everything I learned I did it on my own, with almost no training from him or his wife before she left. We had a nice apartment, we both had full time jobs and we were starting to build our life together. We were happy and doing extremely well. Out of the blue, my mom said I needed to move back in with her. I told her I did not want to move back in with her multiple times, but she threatened to call the police and say my boyfriend was abusing me and I had run away from home. Is she allowed to do this? Posted: 16 Jul 2015 08:39 AM PDT I was six years old when I was molested and raped by my, at the time, best friend's older bother (who was between 15-18 years old). This continued for several months (8 maybe) until the family moved away. During this time, he had forced his sister, my best friend, to participate as well. It had started out as innocent House roleplaying, but escalated when he became aggressive and wanted to act out "real" Mommy and Daddy roles. He was able to keep me quiet by convincing me my parents wouldn't love me anymore and would turn me away if they found out what I did with him. When I wasn't cooperative, he also threatened to tell them himself, but only that I was acting inappropriately with my best friend(nothing would have been mentioned of him, of course.). There were occasional threats that he would hurt us both (more than he already was), as well. Should I ever tell my parents about this? I can't imagine how much pain this would put then through. I know they would feel partially responsible, feel guilt that they were never able to stop it. This abuse caused me years of spouts of depression, self harm, and seclusion. I am still ashamed and embarrassed. The only people I have informed are my best friend and my fiancé. Should I tell them after all these years (I am now 19)? Or would it be better for them to stay in the dark? I also fear they may try and seek "justice" and find him and have him arrested, but I don't want to ever face him. It is selfish, but I do not think I could. |

We met through work (we are both police officers) and ever since my family met him four years ago, most of them haven't been able to take a liking to him. My aunts, sisters, and grandparents like him, but my brothers, parents, and two of my uncles do not. They think he is too hard-headed and tough, but he is a policeman and an ex-Marine, so he kind of has to be. They think he's disrespectful of authority, but I don't see it that way. He's just very outspoken and stands up for himself and what he believes in. And the fact he's been warned about excessive force on the job does not mean he has ever put his hands on me. We fight just like every other couple, but it's never escalated to more than yelling at each other. I broke the news to my family over dinner last night and my parents didn't say much at all. I just don't get it. They should be happy for me and support the decisions I make. My mother is especially pissing me off about this. I asked her what her problem is and she said, "Out of all the people you could marry, it's this guy? Really? I don't see it lasting. So that's what my problem is." My issue is I don't know steam room protocol/etiquitte. My sister says you go nude, my mom says you keep you towel on, my college roommate says you just keep your towel around your waste, my aunt says you wear a swimsuit. I really have no idea. I've never been into steamrooms/saunas etc. But I want to make friends. | Question: Can mom do this at my age? Is it typical or common? Posted: 16 Jul 2015 08:16 AM PDT I am 14. Growing up I was spanked a couple of times as a last resort, but very rarely. It hasn't happened in years (since I was like 11 or so?). The last few days my sister and I have been bickering BIG time which is not normal, but it was getting really out of hand. Mom talked to us, took away TV & the pool, finally she grounded us from each other's rooms and said if we kept it up she'd give us a spanking. I was shocked to hear her say that, and, to be honest, didn't take her all that seriously. This morning I went in my sister's room to look for some clothes of mine. My sister came back, we started bickering, she started saying I wasn't allowed in her room, I lost my cool and shoved her. Just about then my mom appeared, livid at both of us for bickering, and me for being in my sister's room. At that point she took me to my room to "talk" to me. Little did I know she also expected to make good on her threat. She told me I'd be getting the spanking, I argued but didn't resist, she had me bend over my desk, and spanked me over my underwear with a ping pong paddle hard enough to REALLY hurt, but not hard enough to bruise or anything. It was about ten pops. Afterwards she gave me a hug, but reminded me I had a clear warning. I know I was in the wrong with my actions, so I'm not looking to feel vindicated. This just came from so far out of the blue and I just don't know anyone who gets spanked at my age that it leaves me curious: 1) Is this legal at my age? 2) Is this common? |
| Question: How to be happy if you are hated? Posted: 16 Jul 2015 08:16 AM PDT I am hated and my family also hates me. My family criticize me no matter what i do, my sister hates me and doesn't speak to me and she can do no wrong. My dad loves my sister and doesn't seem to want anything to do with me. My mom criticize me, i try and do what i can for my parents but they criticize me. I deal with depression so i try and be happy but i am hated. |
