My parents died years ago and I am very close to my aunt and uncle..they're really family oriented. I have a sister who married years ago and has 4 children. My aunt's daughter (my cousin) lived the single life for years, had a boyfriend but didn't want to settle. My aunt used to say to my sister 'oh you did the right thing and settled down, why can't (my cousin) do the same?' My sister told me this and it got me down as I'm older than any of them and never married or had children. Finally my cousin married and had 2 children and my aunt is delighted. She will often say things to me like 'oh your sister is marvellous, she's a great girl having 4 children and all that it entails'. At the same time she is really good to me..spoils me, but I feel inadequate when I hear these comments. I noticed that my husband is overly good to his subordinates. He takes them out (to the zoo etc), gets stressed when they don't pass their tests, even planned poker parties for them at home (before I lived with him). I know he has personal unresolved issues from being separated from his 7 younger siblings during his parents' nasty custody battle and he misses/feels guilty that he wasn't there for them, somehow this is projected on his juniors where he acts as big brother. I know they do like him for that and they are so familiar that they gossip and whinge about their personal problems like he is one of them. I feel that he isn't being professional and he's coddling, indulging, protecting them - behaving the way he privately wishes that he could have to his own siblings. I think he is setting a false expectation of how work should be and that he needs to fix his internal issues/yearning for the past instead of bringing it to work. In his opinion - he said his superior used to hold poker parties at his house while another drove him from the dorms to work nearly everyday for 2 years before he bought a car, mentored and cared for him. Then his performance was stellar but when he left and got other supervisors that didn't care, he changed and hasn't gotten a single award since or stood out from the pack. He claims he's just trying to continue the "tradition", like those superiors.

I'm 28 years old working a very low wage job. My last paycheck was 173 dollars. I just got kicked out of my dads (I'm 28 why was I living with my dad?). I'm a Army veteran as well and I have lost all sense of being and purpose. I'm homeless with this piece of a job that I can't afford to even live. I've had job offers but because I don't have a car to drive to Austin I'm stuck. I'll never own another car or have my own place to live to and I've accepted that. My question is should i just pack my bags and ride my bike to Austin and be homeless there or stay in this shitty *** southern small town (I'm from California) and be homeless?

About five years ago after my parents got divorced my dad moved back to my grandparents house. My siblings and I visit there twice a week. One time(still five years ago) my mom came to pick us up and the door slammed on her way out, i think it was mostly the wind, but she had just been arguing with my dad's mom. Well my dad's dad got really angry and he went outside and punched my mom in the face. She had a black eye, and he went to court. NOW we still visit twice a week and my dad's dad is really nice, he's always telling me I can have anything out of the house I want. And stuff. He acts like the incident never happened. Like I don't get it my family rushes and critiques everybody and everything. The other side of my family is also a church going family but always judging It has gotten to the point I've been evasive of all my family and stopped talking to anyone but some of those same family members have made those mistakes their constantly telling you what you need to do better. So, I've been playing trumpet since 5th grade, and I really suck at it. Like, REALLY suck at it. I could never get it to work, and I really want to focus on my studies this year. But she did it as a teenager, and "You need to be socially active." Being active for her means band, or sports. But, I can't do sports because I have a major knee problem. Also, the band director is a jerk, he especially hates trumpeters and is just an *ss. Also he is bald. Plus, you have to memorize FOUR songs before band camp starts, and it starts TOMORROW. I haven't been able to even skim over the music because, A. I dont have it, B. I have been focused on my online classes I am taking in order to be more prepared for High School, and C. I have been sick a lot these past couple of months. Now, in 8th grade I was sick a lot, and because of that I missed a lot of school. That being said, I really want to focus on my studies this year to get back on my feet academically, and I know I wouldn't be able to do that if I was in band, considering how often I would be required at practice. Most importantly, I have MAJOR social anxiety, and the thought of going to band unprepared SCARES me. I mean, this is a MAJOR problem for me. I can't handle it. I just- I feel a familiar sense of dread in my gut and it's AWFUL- I can't stand it. Lastly, I really want to spend whatever free time I have acting. Acting is the only way I can overcome my social anxiety, and I've been acting since 2nd grade. I just love it. I feel like i can do anything- like I belong, and I'm actually SOMEBODY. This is a problem because band directly interferes with it. She is now blaming my friend who isn't doing band, "If Rachel* was doing band, you would too!" and "You've been acting this way ever since you started hanging out with Rachel*!" *Name Changed Now she is threatening to cancel my birthday trip to Cedar Point if I don't go- which I've been planning for a long time. I plan on bringing my closest friends, and this is my first birthday celebration in 5 years, which- I admit is because I never worked up the courage to make friends until recently. (And I am SO glad I did!) Now she is threatening to take my phone, and I know it's not that big of a deal- but my phone is the way I communicate, and also it's a tool I use for my classes. She doesn't care, though.

My mom had been taking care of my nephew (now 3) since he was born for my sister (a teen mom) while she went to school. She would do this as a favor because she is not her daughter, she's my half sister, my dad's daughter. Then one day she sent my mom a really rude text accusing my mom of not feeding my nephew and how she was going to report her. I found that super insulting to my mom because I was always there when my mom babysat him and she would always make him something to eat because my sister never brought him anything besides snacks. If anything my sister is the irresponsible one, she is ungreatful and immature. She uses all the money she gets from the gov for him for herself, she is not a good mother. She just had another baby with another guy. I don't wish to continue any sort of relationship with a person like her but I do want to meet my niece and be able to see her and my nephew. Is that at all possible? I haven't talked to her in months. The only way I would make up with her is if she apologized to my mom which I know she would never do.

TLDR- How do I ask my parents to admit they are wrong and promise to behave like adults in the future. Back story- My sisters and I were abused by our parents for years. It got so bad I had to move out of my parent home and in with my then boyfriend now fiancée. My sisters are 10 and 12 and I want to see them but they still live with our parents. So I am a member of an upper middle class family in an upper middle class neigbrhood who goes to a middle class public school. I recently moved to this area in texas from seattle. In seattle, my family was still upper middle class, but many kids who were even lower class had a lot of personal possessions (laptops, smartphones...) and i was considered average in that category, so everything was fine. Sine moving to texas, My dad got an even higher paying job, and I have been getting stuff i never dreamed of having in seattle, like high end mountain bikes (800 dollars) and recently got a very expensive macbook pro (2500 dollars) and everybody at school calls me the "rich kid" because most of them are middle class in around 200-400 thousand dollar houses. And I have way more than they do like shoes, technology, and my family has a nicer house than most people at my school, and nicer cars. But the thing is, i am very thankful for everything i have, and don't show off. When i first came here, people asked stuff like where i lived, and when i told them, they knew it was an upscale neighborhood, and people think i am a showoff. Also the things that my classmates do have, they had to pay for themselves, and i don't. So a I'm wondering that if my parents buy all of the high end things that i own for me, and i am very thankful for that, am i a spoiled brat, or simply a more fortunate person. And btw, my family wasn't always in this situation. We were almost bankrupt once.

I'm a fourteen year old girl. My parents are divorced and I live with my mom. This summer I stayed with my dad and he's very...I don't know. Affectionate I guess. Hey everyone, I usually look after my younger brother whose 10 when my mum is at work. On Tuesday I will be looking after my cousin who is 12. So I'm at a lose on how to handle my father. I use to live with my stepmother after they got a divorce but we started fighting a lot so I moved in with my dad. My childhood was as shity as it can get my mother was very abusive emotionally and physically and made threats to cut certain things off and my dad was standing there when it happened I was 4 at the time. Needless to say I haven't seen my mother in 9 years but during all of the abuse my dad did nothing he did not protect me, my special needs brother, or my sister and she got the worst of it. Anyways I somewhat forgave my dad but when I moved in everything was cool our relationship was improving and I thought for once in my life I have a real dad. I got in a car accident and got a concussion I was over come with depression and I withdrew from school because I couldn't even leave the house. Not a week after my dad got a girlfriend he started putting sex before his own son. My sister and I had a intervention with him but 2 weeks later he was going over to his girlfriends house and leaving me with alcohol and MJ as restitution. Okay my gf and I are 5 years apart. She's curently pregnant with my Kid but has a 10 year old girl also. Her father doesn't care to have anything to do with her by the way. I was looking at something on the internet that my mom found disturbing to her. She was mad that I was hiding it from her even tho I wasn't. It was a video that caught my interest so I clicked it and that was around the time she came in to check out what I was doing. She started yelling at me which made me cry (I'm very emotional) which made her think that I was hiding it from her so she took away my electronics and said I can go on my computer in her room. background: we moved into this home almost 4 yrs ago to be of help to my mother and grandmother. they were struggling to pay the bills after my mother got layed off and the house was falling apart. my mother had also turned into a hoarder in recent years (after menopause it seems) stacking junk and papers and boxes to the ceilings. my husband decides to play GOD and help them against my wishes as i prefered to see grandma move with other relatives or into a senior home. i wanted my mom to be forced to move from this house and get another job and overcome her issues she was having. fast forward to today: grandma recently was removed from the home over 2 months ago by my aunt. my mom is still enraged from it but after grandma lost some mobility over a year ago, my mom just wasnt up for the challenge of more around the clock care in my opinion. my mom, 58, spends all day chain smoking and blogging online and doing what she calls activism work. she wont clean up after herself, wont clean the house, she wont help babysit our 2 kids (13&7), and she wont even bathe! i have to cut off the net access to get her to bathe. this home is huge &expensive so with grandma gone, my husband and i are paying ALL the bills and maintenance and unforseen expenses. i told my mom to please look for a job so she can be self-sufficient as we are ready to move now. she ignores me. im torn. i feel like just leaving her here and changing my phone number in the process. what should i do?

Okay so recently my dad cheated on my mom for the fifth time in their marriage (note i hate my dad regardless) when my mom found out they had a huge argument and she kicked him out saying "oh this is the last time" " i'm leaving you" and she told my sisters and i "we're moving" now of course i didnt believe her because this had been the fifth time and all the previous times she forgave him. I need to found he drinks but he s not an alcoholic hes a very kind and understanding person but he has his moments were he loses it. He s not violent but shouts slot. I was driving, and a biker got in front of me, I screamed, "THERES A SIDEWALK RIGHT NEXT TO YOU YOU ******* DUMBASS I'LL RUN YOUR *** OVER." I get in bad moods for the stupidest reasons. One time a girl kept asking me questions in class, and I was like "Oh my god I don't ******* know" and for the whole day I was annoyed about it. When I was at a concert a ***** kept elbowing me trying to get in front of me, and I threatened to strangle her. My overall attitude is terrible. It's sort of a reflection of how I feel. I feel worthless literally all the time. When I was 10 I was "child on child" sexually abused. At 15 I was raped. I told my mom about it and now she's just restricting what I do. That was a mistake. She blames twitter for why I'm so annoyed all the time. She's such a dumb ***. My parents are very neglectful lol. My dad wants me to get a fake id, my mom lets me smoke and likes to talk about my sex life and wants to know the details.

It doesn't matter what it is.. From what he ate to when he has a *****.. Like why is he telling me this?? I am a 16 year old girl by the way. I think its just weird that he tells me everything..why does he tell me things he should keep to himself? I don't want to hear some things, because it's not something you tell your SISTER, or anyone else. Just why is he telling me this stuff? And what can I do to get him to stop telling me what I don't need to know? I've already talked to him, but that didn't work.its creepy to me that he tells me really personal things. Let me cut right to the chase. Normally there's 8 people living in my house, it's 4 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. This was fine, it wasn't ideal, but it was fine, people were in and out all the time. NOW, I have family visiting and there are literally 16 people living here for the time being, and it is driving me INSANE. I can't live like this anymore I literally want to die. I can't do anything about it cause I'm still a kid. You don't understand how insane this is driving me. 16 people in a tiny, 4 bedroom, 1 bathroom house. Not only are there 16 people, but 4 of those are little kids who fight and scream and cry all the f**king time. There is no such thing as privacy. My mom walks around like there's no issue here and I'm just like are you f***ing kidding me?!?!?? I want to die. I AM GOING INSANE.

When the women of my family talk about something, they don't consider hearing my opinion they think I'm just good to play with their children although I'm 18... I'm a girl with who we can talk about serious things, I'm able to think and have an opinion, I think they really underestimate me. What do you think ? Is this nasty ? Or just normal ? I want grown ups opinion (mainly). For me it's just that they want to show that they are better, superior and that I'm just a kid, not clever enough or something to solve a grown up problem. I want to start a youtube career but I dont want to tell my parents or anyone, the only person who knows is my sister, but shes 8. I dont know what to do. I want to get started but I have no support and nothing to work with. Every so often me and my older brother spend time with our Aunt and her daughters and for the most part it's great. She's often really nice, loves shopping and is really girly but often she is doing everything to ensure my brother is happy. Me and the girls usually go out and do our own thing while she is being all nice to my brother. She's given him a job and even took him on a business trip to a different country for a few days. She always showers me and her daughters with gifts but much of her attention goes towards him. I never receive too much cuddles but she's always a lot closer to my brother and it annoys me. Should I talk to her about this?

The mother grew up in a very wealthy family, where everything she wants and needs are done and given to her. The first time she ever used a washing machine or even cook was when she was in her mid-twenties with a son of her own. She married a guy who also came from a wealthy family, but was disowned. Now, they still live a fairly luxurious lifestyle, but not as much as before, they no longer have the benefit of having a maid do the house chores. Anyways, the kids ages are: 10, 13, and 17. They all do the house chores and their mom just sit in front of the computer, meet up with friends, or go on business trips with the father. These are the chores of each kid: the 10 y/o clean the whole house, take care of their dog, and washes, hangs, and folds the clothes; the 13 y/o cooks the food, the rice and everything in between, prepares her father s and sibling s uniforms as well as iron the clothes, and the 17 y/o washes the dishes, buys the groceries and anything that his younger siblings need. I am close to their family, that s why I m really concerned if this is normal? And if it s okay to do that? I, myself, am still young and didn t grow up in a normal family setup, so I don t really know if that s normal and other families have that type of things going on, as well. By the way, the parents actually homeschooled their children so they could focus on their "studies and responsibilities" without the distraction of other kids. Is that reason enough to homeschool their kids?

My parents have always been horrible parents. My mom and dad are alcoholics and won't admit it. My brothers , grandparents, and I have all noticed this. My brothers have moved out and I live with my parents. I am 16 almost 17. My parents always fight and hit each other and scream at each other. They have done this there entire marriage. My brother used to be hit by my father but then like I said he moved out. I am not concerned with my father hitting me because my dad does not like the police and I have already called them on my parents once so my dad knows I won't take it like my brother did. I am just concerned with my mental safety, I have anxiety and depression but I don't take medication for it because my mom never took me back to the doctor. (she does this a lot, if its not for her she doesn't get it done). I just can't take their constant fighting because I am always there therapist and I am always in the middle of it because I fear that they will really hurt each other one day but they swear they love each other. I know they fight because of the alcohol and my entire family has tried to tell them this but they do not listen. I just need advice as to how I should deal with this until I am 18 because I was forced to grow up so quickly because my parents were out drinking my entire childhood. I still am very mature for my age but some times its just too much and I can't take it. Any advice?? SORRY IF THIS WAS CONFUSING.
