My boyfriend moved in with me about 2 months ago. I feel like he should contribute to the household. I pay for everything. House payment, utilities, the bill when we all go out to eat together. Everything. I don't like confrontation. It makes me nervous. I want to ask him to help but I feel stupid every time I try. He makes more money than I do as well and only works 2 days a week. Side note... I still make decent money. Also, he knows I get overwhelmed and stressed when my house gets messy. I work 6 days a week. He doesn't help keep it clean either. He said he refuses to be the sole cleaner in the house. I have to spend my only off day a week playing catch up. My kids help out as well but they are mostly the reason it gets messy. I'm just starting to feel used and it doesn't sit well with me. I know he is financially able to help. His car is paid off. He only has insurance, child support and his cell phone bill. I admit that I was being a slacker and working a job that was way below my education level (it was a minimum wage job), so I couldn't actually afford my own place, since I live in a fairly expensive city. Anyway, after about 5 months, my girlfriend had become too difficult to deal with. It seemed that she was always mad that I left the toilet seat up or that I wanted sex too much or she was upset about me asking her to cook, etc. So, I started applying to jobs on my education level and got a really great job that pays nearly 6 figures. After that, I left her apartment and got my own apartment and it is, quite honestly, much better than hers. Over the past few months, she has been coming over to my home, cooking for me, having tons of sex, cleaning, etc. She's doing all sorts of stuff that she REFUSED to do when I lived with her. She wants to move in with me. I talked to my mother about this and she said "Your girlfriend is on your turf now. She can't give you a bunch of rules, because you're the one making the big bucks now and it's your own apartment. It's going to be completely different from when you actually lived at her place." But, I still feel insulted by how she treated me when I was living with her. It seems all that has changed, but I still think about it. Am I right to feel this way, or is my mother right and I should just give my girlfriend a chance to live with me? |

I'm generally not really an insecure person but here's the thing. My ex found a rebound after months of trying to get me back. It's been most of a years since I looked like that and now I weigh about 235 and am quite muscular as I've been hitting the gym nearly everyday. The look they give me is not nice anymore of friendly. I can see in the mirror that I'm actually quite handsome in the face too and I look way better than before. A lot of times they look away or if they do look it's like and eye roll look... |
