I prevented the house from going up in smokes 5 times. Yet I never got a thank you or any gratitude. So how can I get them to show it????? 4 times someone left the stove on and left the house and I arrived in time to turn them off. The pots and food were burnt black. 5th time a vehicle caught fire in the garage while everyone was sleeping and I just happened to smell the fire and wake them up!

I'm a freshmen in uni, still under my mothers care, and even though this is supposed to be my time to start breaking away and learning to take care of myself until I can care for myself, I think my mother is being overprotective. The major issue I find is my grandmother has dementia, so someone has to stay with her 24/7, typically my mother. When I'm home for breaks, I'd rather stay home, but my mother thinks staying home alone is too dangerous (it's not bcuz i'm a young adult, i'm a homebody with no friends so she knows I wouldn't throw a party or anything.) I live in the rural country, and our home is surrounded by trees, most ppl don't even know there's a house back there, yet that makes my mother more concerned. At the age of 18, is it too much for me to think I should be allowed to live in a house alone for even a few nights? I tried explaining to her that at one point in life I'm going to be living alone, so it seems strange to me I can't get that experience now. Should I just accept her reasoning or is there a way I can convince her? We also have a security system, so that's extra protection??

I'm throwing a surprise party for my grandparents on the 27th. My uncle sent my dad mean texts laat night saying "enough with the fckin parties they're not her parents wake the f up" and that I should move far away from everyone and that i am inconsiderate. I didn't think about the football playoffs being that day which is why he is mad. (I moved it from Saturday to Sunday because Saturday was booked) and now I'm worried because I already sent out invitations and everything....

my keyworker is a very loud slurper and I have asked in group whether it is a rude habit or not. he volunteered that he slurps but he has not stopped. also every family has a pig at table.

My wife's mother Joy is spending 2 weeks with us as her house is getting some major work done on it. We are enjoying every minute of her visit. Image how it feels for my wife and myself to come home to a delicious hot meal every day after work. He desserts are do die for. The house is cleaned and the clothes and dishes are washed. One day after a hard drive on the freeway I was very tired when I got home. Joy at one time owned a massage parlor and asked me if I would like a massage. It sounded like a good idea. Joy said I will give you a full body massage. I will massage every part of your body and I mean EVERY PART. OH MY GOD. I don't think I want her to do that. Trying to get out of it, I asked my wife if she was OK with her mother giving me a full body massage. My wife said, go ahead. It will relax you. Guys, would you let your mother in law give you a full body massage? OR Could I be reading more into what she said than what she meant?

I'm 23, my mother emotionally abused me growing up, She can also be violent..She did not want me or gave a sh*t about me , i didn't have the basic needs that a child should have.Which made me have a awful life when I was with her.The reason why I was with her is because she just wanted the child support money so she didn't have to work which I didn't know till years later, I didn't get in touch with my dad until I was 19 because I was told growing up he didn't care about me which was SO untrue.I moved out at 19 to live with my dad who honestly saved me.Hes the only family that I have I honestly hate my mother.She is a very miserable negative person and anyone that is around her bad things happen to her. Unfortunately she is staying with us cuz over the summer she gave up her nice NY apartment without thinking and moved to Georgia middle of no where.She hated it and had no where to go so she has been stuck with her ever since.We have to kick her out I know.Since she's been with us,she's ungrateful.She still disrespects me in my own home and acts like this is her place.and OH she even hooked up with my neighbor (don't ask) my dad wants to kick her out too.Everday I've grown to hate my own mother , which is sad. My 14 year old daughter is terrified of thunder and lighting, something we have often at our house. When we have thunder and lighting at night she will crawl in bed with her older brothers where she says she feels safe and secure. When the storm is over she goes back to her own bed. Her brothers really like her and are VERY protective of her. However they are afraid if she tells her friends what she does, they will accuse her brothers of incest, something they WOULD NEVER DO. Please give me some suggestions on how I should handle this. Do you think therapy would help her overcome her fears and if so how much does it cost. THANKS FOR ANY HELP.

My sister was up half the night crying she couldn't sleep at all. I know what's wrong with her but I can't day it. How can I help her feel better ?

My Mom helped her sister's daughter out when the sister's daughter was recovering from some addiction issues. It became a jealously thing for my Mom's sister who is narcissistic about that kind of thing and she began insulting my Mom frequently. Now, five years later, they only speak if it is a rare family function for their mother, my grandmother, where they have to be in the same room. So my Mom, who certainly did not start it, is now consumed with hatred for her sister and deep animosity towards her mother who she feels backed the sister. It is the only thing my mother discusses. I would say three or four times a day she brings it up and brings up Karma she says will get them back and expose the truth. My Mom used to be so much fun. Now she is consumed with hatred like the cousin she helped was consumed with alcoholism. My Mom says she has forgiven and surrendered it to a higher power but if that were true she would not speak of it 4 or 5 times a day. How do I help my mother get through this toxic animosity she has? Like I said my mother did not start this but she sure as heck is consumed with it now. Her sister is not a nice person, but not worth being eaten alive by animosity towards.

Tomorrow he was going to have a late Christmas with his family since he was away with his current wife for Christmas. I got worried yesterday "I am just having our friends after all, stop by sometime this winter". I told him how I was so excited and so sorry it won't work out (I wrote it politely). He did not respond which is his usual way to handle hurt he causes. I won't see his family now until at least June even though I am bound to be stuck seeing my Dad and his current wife at some point this winter though I am going to wait till I cool down. How do I end my disappointment over this which to me is devastation? Another Christmas rejected by my father. Grant it the party they are having with their elite friends is people I don't really know very well and only my Dad's brother and his fiance and daughter are coming from the family. It hurt to be excluded though after being asked and when other family is there. Otherwise I wouldn't have cared since it is not a big family event. It is an end of Christmas party for their elite and wealthy friends.

I don't know what to do. My parents say they might take me overseas for summer vacation. But they have to see if they can get days off from work. And the trip will cost a lot. If they can't, and I don't get to go overseas next summer, should I be mad at my parents? I'm sixteen.

I'm a teenager, and my dad's side of my family has money. The thing is, this past Christmas, they got me a lot, and a lot of expensive stuff at that. I am so grateful they thought of me, but I only wanted five things, and I also wanted them to donate some. They didn't. I feel so guilty, and I know this is like, major 1st world problems, but I cry over thinking how many expensive gifts I have and how some people I know don't have that much. I want to donate some of my gifts to those who will use them, but then my parents will think I don't appreciate it. What should I do? How do I stop feeling guilty?

So I'm fourteen, my sister's four, and I do NOT like toddlers and/or small children, never have. My little sister demands that I do things for her, she unplugs the Xbox when I'm playing on it, she tells my mother and stepfather about everything I do. Every time my boyfriend comes over, she demands to be in my room with us, and when I tell her to get out, she screams and throws a tantrum. (Also pretends he's her boyfriend, and I know she's four and no one takes it seriously, but, combined with her always wanting to be with us, it gets on my nerves really quickly anyway.) My stepdad already doesn't like my ferret that much, and looked at me like, "if your ferrets hurts her again we're getting rid of him." She also constantly brought up the death of my previous ferret, (and she KNEW how sad it makes me) for NO APPARENT REASON! I have anxiety, depression, ADHD, and disliking her makes me feel horrible. What kind of a girl doesn't like her own younger sister? How can I like her better? Or at least stop feeling so horrible about it?
