Many of my classmates have died, some where murdered, some died from drugs etc. In high school we had police on patrol monitoring the interior and exterior perimeter of the school, cameras everywhere. It wasn't a nice place, I didn't choose to grow up there but I did, dirt poor. I went on with life, moved away, paid my way through the community school out of pocket as I worked at the same time. I never had privilege/help or was able to get ahead. I feel I started 10 miles behind the starting line of the average person my age in the US. I'm a white female age 27 and I have never traveled, owned a new car or been able to afford my own apartment without having a roommate.I work full time and can't even afford health insurance. I see others my age attending these posh universities, living in beautifully furnished apartments in the nicest parts of town, some have a rent upwards of 2800/month and they don't have a roommate. They wake up every morning and go to yoga and then to a coffee shop to drink their artsy latte and sit behind their MacBook networking or planning meetings.Dressed in the trendiest clothes, driving the newest model car. They always seem to be on the go, visiting a friend in Nashville for the wkend, taking a weekend trip to lay on the beach in California and drink and attend social events at night, catching a flight to Europe for the week. I feel so disconnected. They make it seem so easy.. |

I've known him since birth and I've told him he can always come to me for anything. His parents recently did his physical check up and knowing that I occasionally go to the gym, they asked if I could have him exercise with me after school on Friday. Friday came and I took him with me. I went to the locker room and slipped into my usual workout attire, sports bra and tights. We did some basic things like push ups and pacing for about 45 mins and we had a great time. When we finished, we sat in the kid's area the gym set up and ate some sandwiches I made for the both of us. While eating, he innocently pointed and asked what was the silver thing in my stomach. I looked down and he was talking about my belly button ring. His folks are a bit touchy when it comes to attire and I didn't want to give a wrong message so I just said I was born with it and rambled into some science mumbo-jumbo. I told him it was a secret and he had to help me by not telling anyone. He said "sure, what are friends for?" and we did this pinky swear not to tell anyone. I've told you guys about the story on how I was bullied growing up that still haunts me til this day I wish I could've fought them back but deep down inside I am not a fighter I'm a very very peaceful person I don't like violence I don't bullies or bullying for that matter but sometimes people can push you over the edge and you have no choice but to defend yourself and fight back. That's what I was taught growing up if someone hits you you hit them right back that speaks volumes to me til this day. No I haven't been bullied in elementary school,middle school or high school for some reason that's strange to me. I'm not looking for trouble I don't want anyone to bully me I am speaking this into existence I don't want any drama I don't want to bully or be bullied again I am speaking this into existence and I know that it will manifest. Posted: 27 Dec 2017 09:11 AM PST As a child I spent most of my time wishing I had friends, I used to sit at home on my own and play with my Lego and set up my army men. In school I was bullied because I had big glasses and was shy so I learned to read well early, books were a good escape and sometimes video games, I went to birthday parties and football but people used to laugh at me, I finally settled in and made friends but my teacher decided to move me up a class because I was bored. The same thing started again and by the time I settled down we went to middle school. My mom wouldnt let me invite people over as they never invited me, my moms really nice she was worried as I got bullied in school. I hung around a group until I realised that I was a laughing stock and at 17 I met a knew group if good mates, Im 22 and I have good mates and a good job, my problem is when we are out they always remember back to things they did when they were younger or in school, I just say I don't remember much about when I was young. Im good now but suffer with anxiety and depression and often feel lonely, Im not very interesting to talk to one on one, I love comedy but watching friends and familys and quality relationships hurts me, I don't show it but my chest sometimes tightens and pinches, and other times I feel sick or need to cry. Im more resilient now but I can't get over it, everywhere I go I seem to experience this and I cry when I'm alone because I dont think Im capable of having a best friend or girlfriend. |

I was also excluded from a group activity the youth group was having (the group consist of around 20 teens/pre adults). His ex is pretty talkative & I just tend to mind my business. | Question: My Highschool Frined was Assaulted? Posted: 27 Dec 2017 07:36 AM PST Hey, I am a 17 year old boy and I have been friends with this 17 year old girl for a couple months now. We have been talking every day and have become very close. Last night she told me something she has never told anyone else. She used to work at a fast food joint and she ended up working till midnight one night. During this the manager a 25 year old man forcefully kissed my friend in the back of the building. She ended up going home that night and didn't tell her parents because that night she found out her sister had developed some type of cancer without a cure. As of today she still hasn't told anyone except now me and that event happened in August. I talked with her for hours last night and finally convinced her to tell her mom by the end of the week. We made a deal that the day she tells her mom we will get a coffee at Dunkin together (She has wanted to get a coffee with me for a while now). Am I doing the right thing by not speaking to the cop myself or the Mom myself. Also I'm afraid she won't actually tell her mom and possibly make an excuse to not tell her. Honestly any input would be outstanding. I'm sorry but I really don't know what to do. |

I had my fair share of enemies, too...but I didn't give a raps *** because I had plenty of friends and family on my side. Now that I'm older, I See that my family and friends are not nice people...they are actually narcisstic @ssholes, and I've become more aware of how mean and selfish I was, too. I've moved away, for a job, and distanced myself in the last 10-20 years from all of them. The more aware I am, the more more I see how bad I really was...but not as bad as they still are. I don't fit in there anymore. They don't really like me anymore. I don't have any enemies anymore, but Imdontnreally have any close friends, either. I'm kind of stuck in limbo, yet I know lots of people are like me and consider it normal...but I don't want to be alone. Where does a woman find friends, who aren't alcoholics, but aren't goody two shoes, either? I work with all guys, so work isn't an option.. |
| Question: I had a failed friendship. Should I forgive or forget? Posted: 27 Dec 2017 01:18 AM PST So I recently had a falling out with this introverted girl who was my friend since the start of 2016. Long story short, we met in class and felt close to her since to the point where I did things for her like she does for me; she had always supported me. What caused the friendship to fail was how she kept acting funny around me recently, like how she kept ghosting me, especially when she's with her other friends, and how she kept avoiding me by detouring to her class. Also she tends to speak her mind over the internet and text, like how she would rather be by herself and how she doesn't care about anything I talk about but she wouldn't act that way in person. So I wanted to know what the deal was and we got into an arguement to the point where she told me to go be friends with someone else and that being her friend wasn't an obligation. I gotta admit, it did hurt and she considered me weak-spirited because of that. Anyway, should I just forget about her and make new friends instead or should I just ask for forgiveness (which I did but that didn't work)? |
| Question: Why are seniors so mean in high school? Posted: 27 Dec 2017 12:31 AM PST I'm in grade 8 (we start early in Canada) and a lot of them are mean. They're sarcastic and will mock us. Some of them get annoyed when theres a whole group of younger people in the hallways. You can just sense that theyre not in a good mood by their glaring and the way they pose. Once THEY were blocking the halls so I asked nicely to excuse me. One girl started laughing and told me to grow up? I was confused 🤷🏻♀️ and her boyfriend defended her by saying shes right . What's the deal with them hating younger kids? |

Posted: 26 Dec 2017 11:43 PM PST I met this guy a few years ago and we were really good friends, but one day a few months ago I posted a link to that Sarahah website (where people can message you things anonymously) and I got a really sweet message from someone saying how much they liked me and I just knew it was him, so things got really awkward after that because he also knew that I knew it was him lol. We stopped talking for a while after that, but then I started thinking of him a few weeks ago and messaged him basically saying that I'm really sorry that I kind of just stopped talking to him, but that it just got really weird for me and that I missed him and didn't want to lose a great friend because of something like this because it's happened to me before. He basically just said he understood and just decided it was best for himself if he just backed off a little because he figured I didn't feel the same way. So we talked for a while that day, but after that day, we never talked again. But ever since then, I just haven't stopped thinking about him and I think I'm starting to get feelings for him. But I feel like if I message him again, it'll be the same thing: we'll just talk for the day and then stop. That day he seemed very uninterested in me but I can't tell if it was because he was just trying to protect himself, or if he really just lost interest in me. Now I'm worried that I'll just be annoying him if I were to message him again because what if he DID lose interest? Should I take chance? And what should I say if I SHOULD message him? The other girls didn't like me because, I transferred in from a small province and I had a funny way of speaking & pronouncing English words(English isn't our first language). City kids are so different...They never liked me playing with them so I usually sat on the sidelines and watched during sports. The number of sports balls were limited and I learnt my lesson not to try get any of them. Anyway, I developed some social anxiety over those years. The outgoing, friendly province girl died and the socially anxious, antisocial girl was born. When I transferred to a new school, I made one friend, Amy. We were very different, She had it all from the start, I didn't. I stuck around anyway because she was nice. I also met a boy, Justin, we had a lot in common, he always got me involved in everything but I realized I was afraid of sports and physical activity/standing out, he's now my best friend. High school came, I transferred again, Amy and Justin still kept in touch. I made another friend, Julia. She was also bullied but she's tougher than me and she doesn't let anyone try to put me down. I turned down all of the guys who asked me out because my parents don't allow it(and also because I love Justin). Justin, Amy, Julia and I are in the same school this year. I've can't play sports, people tell me I look weak and depressed. I was asked a couple times this year to represent the school(of excellence)in quizzes and forums but fear decided no. |

I asked for a second one and my father joked about how id be to hyper for girls. The girl said she thought i was married but I'm not. She asked my father my age and at one point when a friend joke saying i liked her and she asked why i was single and what happen to my past relationship and if id like to go out some time to a night-club and classes as well to help with school. She even asked my father if he was married. Whenever i would not go and my father would she would ask about where i was or even ask me of my father. Now I'm sure the night-club has nothing to do with having to buy her drinks since hence she only asked me about clubbing after all the questions. Attention: P.S.. The girl who works there had her back turned making another coffee when one joked about me being hyper for girls and she got into the conversation which it had nothing to do with her and she still after that moment of saying she thought i was married, she had came back like 10 minutes later initiating questions about me. Hence also a friend teasing and joking as well 30 minutes after saying i would be to hyper he said i liked her & then she asked me to a nightclub.. How was she just being nice if she was getting personal and invites me out? |

| Question: "Friend" Blocks me For No appearent reason? Posted: 26 Dec 2017 09:39 PM PST So yesterday I find out that my "friend" blocks me for no apparent reason I never did anything wrong for her to do that the one she's causing problems to is me and the one who should be mad is me instead she's the one acting like the offended one and playing the victim in the situation instead of fixing this she goes and blocks me like a coward like wtf it kinda hurts my feelings she does that considering she thought about me as a sister |

We are all bad at making friends and usually only stick together. I'm afraid that since we have electives I might not have them in my class. Please give me some tips on how to make friends! Posted: 26 Dec 2017 08:51 PM PST We've been best friends for about 3 years and this year we've been closer than before and I'm really happy to have a bestie like her. But lately shes always been hanging with this other girl. It doesn't make me mad or anything, but what gets me upset is how touchy she is with her. She's always touching her in some way, hands together, and just seem so comfortable with her. It makes me jealous and I don't know why. She's bi and the other girl's straight and has a boyfriend anyways, and she's one of those girls who acts that way with everybody. But it just gets me so frustrated when my bestie is with her like that. And she told me she doesn't do that kind of stuff with me bc she says she gets nervous around me whenever I get close to her. But she always compliments me and tells me I'm beautiful (she once texted me a whole paragraph describing my eyes and my hair) but I don't know why she won't get close to me. I know I'm a terrible friend, and my jealousy makes no sense, but please help! |

Posted: 26 Dec 2017 08:32 PM PST I spend a lot of time working and studying, since I moved to the state of California three years ago, I have not made a friend and my boyfriend who moved with me too, a few weeks ago gave indications of no longer loving me and sadly we had to break the relationship. I am 25 years old and I spend my time from college to work and from work to home, to advance more work because I don't have more time (this is during the whole year, except in summer vacation and December because there is no university and in this season of the year I don't need to advance work). I ask your opinion that if you think I'm a lonely and overly tense girl, because that's how I feel, in this holiday season I had time to reflect and realized that I have no one but my coworkers, but with them I only talk about things at work and we don't consider ourselves friends. I passed the Hanukkah alone. Only with some neighbours we exchange some desserts, which we do every year by tradition, with my relatives I don't count because they all live in another country and we don't love each other very much. The fact is that I feel like I'm going through a depression caused by loneliness (I guess). It was because of a work project that I discovered Yahoo Answers, and since then this site has helped me a little bit to feel less alone, but I see that this is not the best way to overcome this if I continue using it in the same way. How can I make real friends? I've always been very lonely in school and in my childhood in general and now in adulthood, I don't want to get older and still be alone. The truth is that I don't know how to make friends, whenever I try to approach someone or they ignore me or take advantage of my innocent intention. I don't give insults or have a strong character and I never learned to say no to someone when they ask me for a favor, I have a rather submissive character and I always treat others with respect. I don't understand why I can't make friends. You being honest, would you be friends with a person like me? and if the answer is you can't tell me why and what attitudes you look for in a person to consider her your friend. | Question: Should I go to prom? Posted: 26 Dec 2017 08:28 PM PST I'm debating on whether or not I should go to my senior prom. The ticket is expensive and I don't want to spend so much money on finding a dress. I also have social anxiety and I only have 2 real friends to talk to, and It'd be really awkward to find a table. I feel like I'm just going to awkwardly stand in the back while everyone dances. Honestly I wouldn't mind going if I knew more people, but I'm so socially outcasted in school that I feel like it's not worth my time. I haven't made any new friends or had real conversations with people in my grade all throughout high school. I feel like it's weird if I just randomly went up and talked to them, they wouldn't expect me to say anything anyways. Most of them don't even know who I am. |
