I'm not a very confident person and I'm not competitive. I don't like confrontation. I'm also very short and feel intimidated by most people. I am very careful about who I open up to. I recently left a bad job and the girls were very bitchy and singled me out. I wish I had stood up to them more and not been so afraid when I hadn't done anything wrong. They are all very strong minded and big and loud. I would like to learn how to hold my own and not be walked all over. One of them even said I was too nice. How can I basically become an asshole? I don't want to be treated like I was there anywhere else. Thanks anyone who can advise! |

They go out to party, dress in revealing clothing, make bad choices, swear all the time, and it's the norm. I get labeled as a weirdo for being a goody-two-shoes. I hate tattoos and piercings. I never swear. I'm not even interested in going out, nor did my parents ever allow me to. I've never dated. And I can't believe some of the things most people are wearing nowadays. I get called a goody-two-shoes all the time. Everyone my age is into the latest trends whereas I don't care much. So many people at my school claim to be gay or bi and I think it's not right (of course I don't tell them that, I keep it to myself) but everyone else supports it. So many people at my school get drunk (even though they're underage) and so stupid things. I tell them I can't relate and they look at me, in shock. I feel even if I wasn't raised this way I'd still feel this way y'know. i only just started to realize how different I am. What do you think? Is it an issue? It's just the way I feel. I also don't engage in the dirty and inappropriate conversations people in high school love to talk about. It's to the point I can't make friends because I can't find anyone similar to myself. |

(Which I was but there's no proof of this) she said she overheard me slagging her off to the other girls (which I was but again no proof of this) and that when she sat next to me at lunch she looked over my shoulder and saw me and the other girls have a text group called "banter" and that she saw her name mentioned in that group and that we were all laughing and looking at each other.... (again we were but she can't prove a thing!) Now I'm a little worried as a couple of the partners are talking about having individual meeting with us all and that apparently 2 other people have come forward noticing that I would never speak to her. They're making her write a letter of details explaining everything and I would like to know could I actually get in trouble over all this? |

Recently people have been saying that I'm dating this guy (lets call him Jack) and they're always exaggerating it. It honestly embarrasses me and I feel bad for Jack. They're always saying "aww you and Jack would be so cute together" but Jack isn't even my type as I'm kind of popular in the school. I sound stuck up but I'm not trying to be. I know they're joking but today in class they took it too far. We were in acting class and our teacher told us to make an improv. So Jack and his friend (lets call him Sam) went up to do an improv. Everyone was telling them to make a scene of them fighting over me. It was so embarrassing. I didn't think Sam would actually do it but he started acting and saying stuff about me and that he was mad Jack was "dating" me. (it was acting keep in mind) Sam was trying to be funny but honestly it hurt my feelings a lot. Everyone heard! It's been really annoying lately because people are taking it too far. And this other guy recorded that and is showing it to everyone. So, is there any way I can report Sam and get him expelled? He's really weird and annoying and the guy that recorded it is really annoying too. Please help me. I know this doesn't even sound serious, but they're literally harassing me every day about Jack and I hate it. I almost feel like crying sometimes. However she does not approach me when she's alone and she rarely talks to me but always watches me from a distance and I catch her observing me in class. Posted: 03 Mar 2017 01:13 PM PST I m in a current situation where an old friend had been verbally abusive and very angry about minor things (such as me asking questions with obvious answers that didn t seem remotely obvious at the time) and I made the decision to drop this friend out of my life (I just got out of an abusive home so I really can t handle any excess negativity in that aspect of my life). My best friend talks bad about the old friend behind her back (to make me feel better, I assume) , but is constantly nice to her face and still considers her a friend. I normally wouldn t ever expect anybody to drop anyone for me, but I am fiercely loyal to my best friend and would drop anyone for her in a heartbeat. Am I being inconsiderate for thinking my best friend should stop talking to the person that mistreated me? The only other option I have is removing myself from our friend circle. |

We all had set on being in the same unit, but it came down to us having to be split up. Two go into one unit and the other has to go to another alone with random suite mates. Guess who got the unit alone? The other two were family so a part of me understand thats a given in this situation. However, being the fair person I am I wouldn't have decided so quickly like they did. I would rather look at our second option apartment across the street to see if they had a unit where we all could fit into. If not then fine at least we tried, and I'd be cool with that. Their cool dudes and I've known them for a year, but this is the second time I'm the odd one out. Any advice? |

Like skipping class, being disruptive, bullying other students, swearing, and even getting caught with things that are prohibited on school grounds such as tobacco products and the teachers always turn the other cheek or if they do send them to the principle nothing ever happens. But when anybody who isn't a jock decides to act like a douche and do the same exact things they get punished for it. Also how come the teachers give them more attention then the students that actually try really hard on projects and always act respectful. |

Our group was by the main stage and we were listening to all the achievements they had made that year for LGBT+ community, and she said "this is boring, let s leave!". It honestly looked like she was only in it for the drag queens and everything else she complained and complained and complained about. By the end of the day our group was sick of her! But when I am on my period I feel sad depressed and think about how lonely I am. I get offended easily and start over analyzing things. Start thinking about life and death and how I am single and should've been married by now. Start looking at my friends who have kids and married and start feeling bad about myself. I am the only girl my mom has. She used to work two jobs and didn't have time but I wish she drop me her friends house when I was like 10 years old or ages up because I would've been social instead of becoming anti social. Also my mom had huge fights with the oldest half sister and her mother and I never got to speak to my half brothers and half sisters after that. I became a loner and just grow up talking to myself. But I became quiet and shut down after jealous chicks at workplace kept reporting me. I got tired of defending myself against all these women who are after me for doing my job. They are lazy and would get angry at me when I add another patient to the schedule. Being surrounded with negative energy made me become a negative person by just being quiet silent and not saying a word at all. My manager was saying I have changed after I moved to a different clinic but that clinic had group of women after me so I changed. But now things changed with coworkers complaining about small stuff like food or trying to bring me down. I am the kind of person that if I feel negative things happening, I shut down immediately and just want to get out as soon as possible. The whole place became negative as soon as politics and everything else started happening. I become quiet when I don't want to talk. Manager even said I don't voice my opinions at meetings. But I came to do my job and I do my job helping patients. How to deal with negativity? Is my way of dealing wrong? I can't be fake. | Question: What do I need to change about myself? Posted: 02 Mar 2017 09:19 PM PST I was always overconfident and extremely extroverted since I was very little, up until fifth grade. That s when I started public school; I had been home schooled before. I learned to be a little less like that, but I was still arrogant until around sixth grade. I have always been a loner, I didn t really care about friends. Until seventh grade... I started making friends through shared interests. They all loved me and I loved them. I was... sort of an attention seeker as well. As I grew close to them I acted like an insecure person. At first I believed I was faking it, but after a while, it became true. I really was depressed and considered myself hated by my friends. Then, over the summer, I decided to change my personality and be confident, like I used to be. But... now my ex friends all dislike me. One of my current friends was finally honest with me and told me that I talk too much about myself, but I feel like I try to listen to others. I m just not sure what to do anymore. I m starting in a new high school next year and I don t know a single person going there, so I have a fresh start. I need help. I want to get off on the right foot with everybody, and I don t want to be insecure or overconfident; I can t seem to find an in-between. I m either one or the other. Someone, please help me out here! |

Posted: 02 Mar 2017 08:19 PM PST I joined a sorority because I'm having a hard time making friends in college but I feel lonelier now than I did before I joined. I don't have any friends in the sorority and we are supposed to rank for big/ little this sunday but I don't have anyone I connect with and I know that no one wants me as their little. I don't want to drop but I don't know what else I can do to fit in. I ask people to go out with me and I either get blown off or we can't work out a day to go. They all tell me that I'm so nice and funny but how can that be true if no one wants to be around me? Any advice is appreciated. Thank you |
| Question: Need Help making friends In College.? Posted: 02 Mar 2017 08:16 PM PST I lived in New England my whole life till I moved to college. I had tons of friends back home, but can't get any friends at my college. I go to Texas A&M, I'm a freshman, and I'm part of the football team. But none of my teammates talk to me much. Really I just say hi to them when I see them and thats it. My roommate is a nice guy, but just sits all day in the dorm playing video games. I feel like I forgot how to make friends. I'm already halfway through this school year, and still haven't made friends. Any tips for making friends in college? Also I find it harder to even talk to girls now, Once when a girl came up to me saying how I'm doing I said "I'm doing good". Then I walked to my dorm like a shy dumb fool. I never felt like this before, Highs School I talked to everyone and loved it. Now that I'm in college, I have to start all over and it's hard. I stay in my dorm more often, and don't go to the gym much, because I don't want to see my team mates. I feel like I'm not loved I feel like I want to cry, but I have to act like a tough guy, because my roommate is always in the dorm. Has anyone had this problem before in college? And is it to late making friends before this year ends? |

| Question: Who was out of line? Posted: 02 Mar 2017 07:47 PM PST Last Friday there was post-party for the marching band following the last home game of the season. I'm not in the band, but some of my friends are in the band, so I was at the party. It was at the house of one of the band members. A bunch of my friends are talking and I'm eating some chicken wings that had just been brought out when this freshman (a girl) comes up to me. She's my sister's friend (my sister is also a freshman). So she kind of interrupts me and asks me how I could possibly eat dead chicken flesh. I said with my fingers usually, to kind of make a joke of it. Then she said there was no way she would date me. I looked at her and said, "I don't think not having a boyfriend is something you will have to exert a lot of effort to achieve." My friends started laughing and I could tell it hurt her feelings. I thought she was going to start bawling right there. Fortunately they brought out some cocktail wieners so to get out of the situation I said, "Oh look! Dead pig flesh." and left for where they brought out the cocktail wieners leaving her to fight off tears. My kid sister -- who wasn't even there -- is trying to make this thing into a federal case or something. But she tries to pick a fight, when I don't bite, she says she won't date me, as if that would ever happen. So yeah if she doesn't want her feelings to get hurt she should make nice. |
| Question: Convincing my parents to let me meet an internet friend? Posted: 02 Mar 2017 07:46 PM PST I have an internet friend in Texas and I live in California. We have been talking for about a year now, she just turned 16 and i'm almost 15. We are inseparable we mail each other gifts and we talk 24/7 and when I say 24/7 I literally mean we talk ALL DAY EVERY DAY! We consider each other best friends and we always talk about meeting. I always facetime her and she has met practically everyone in my family, my parents, my grandparents, my sisters, my cousins, and aunts and uncles. So you get the point she is not a creep. I also know her parents & everyone too and even call them texas dad and texas mom and they call me california daughter haha. We are very close and I just need to meet her and I ask my parents about flying down there for my birthday ( two months away ) and they say no because they don't know her family and in a way she's still a stranger. I know her family isn't crazy and they know i'm not a kidnapper either lol. I don't know how I can convince them to let me go, they know how much she means to me and how much it would mean to meet her but they still don't let me. Thank you for your help :) |
| Question: I think my friend is being verbally abused? Posted: 02 Mar 2017 06:59 PM PST So...my friend is almost 17 and I m almost 18. She always tells me that she s happier at my house. Her mom has PTSD and constantly makes everything about herself. She yells at my friend even if all she does is accidentally spill something. Her mom also hates me and I ve done nothing wrong except be nice all the time. She also hates my whole family for no reason. Her two daughters before both got pregnant really young and one of them even married and moved out really young, and my friend is the only one who hasn t yet her mom yells at her the most. Her mom is also divorced from a bad relationship. But she yells a LOT over really small simple things at my friend. My friend keeps telling me she wants to move out but she doesn t want to be that kid that just runs away. But honestly I think she really should move to where she s happier. I m really worried about her. Her mom is always gone too to be with her boyfriend and my friend is home alone almost all the time. I m scared that if she actually fesses up and asks her mom if she can move out that her mom won t let her and will continue to verbally abuse her every day. What should I do?? |

Posted: 02 Mar 2017 06:57 PM PST so after a giant fight with my old best friend, ( and a long story after ), I got to be friends with another friend I knew from a long time, his fake name can be owen, and he is a really good friend again, and his friends ( corbin and lane ). but, I feel like lane doesn't like me, he never talks to me, and he buys cookies for everyone at the table but me. I hate it. AND EVERYONE AT THE TABLE LIKES HIM. I feel like the 3rd FREAKING wheel every day of my life, corbin is ok, but he likes lane. I hate it, I cant even make new friends, idk who to go to, just from my experience 2 years ago from 6th grade when my FIRST friend and me got into a fight, I just wanna be DONE with people hating me. ive been giving food to my friends, just so I could fit in more. but. WHY ME. WHY MUST I FEEL LIKE THIS EVERY DAY. and don't even get me started on Daniel. since my FIRST best friend turned against me, there best friends now, and daniels trying to turn everyone against me, well he used to. i always feel so upset, besides owen, i always have to go up to people like corbin, i feel like he secretly doesn't give a crap about me either, sorry for the long story, all i want is to have stable, normal friendships. |

Posted: 02 Mar 2017 06:15 PM PST Since going to college, I have become good friends with my roommate, however, I feel a mutual friend becomes jealous when we spend time during the day together (ie. she turns her back to me to have a group conversation when in our room and always goes to hug my roommate after we hang out and she arrives- and she isn t an affectionate person). The little time we do spend together, she usually will get upset at my roommate because she isn t hanging out with her. I don t even get invited to group chats without friends at school and they will all text with each other and it makes me feel terrible -I thought it was because I was shy and very polite but there is a girl just like me who got included to the group chat. On top of it, I always respond to my friends messages who are from home and not at school, even if there is hardly anything to say back. They never do the same for me. And I understand I complain about a mutual friend to them, but I feel like sometimes I have to rant because these people do terrible things (made a disabled girl cry) but when I say anything they get upset at me. I just want a support system for when something happens but I feel like I don t have any. I feel like it is so hard to just focus on schoolwork. What steps could I do to feel better? |
