I'm going to be 19 on Saturday, since I'm turning 19 I plan on going out with my friends that night. Anyways I wanted to have a birthday dinner since I'd be leaving around supper, so I could still have my family get together. My oldest brother and his wife can't go because he has a work Christmas party to go to and he has to travel an hour or two away and he already lives 45 minutes away. That kind of upset me, but I knew they felt bad. I came home from school (college) Today I came home, and my mom was really upset and said that my older brother and my dad have people coming in on my birthday to help build my brothers barn and they might not be able to come to dinner (I dunno if my other sister in law can come) And that makes me so angry, they've needed help with the barn for weeks now and decide on my birthday to get help?! And it makes it worse because my dad claims he never knew we were doing my birthday meal at dinner, even though i've told people this for a couple months now, he knew. My friends gave me a run around about my birthday party and made me feel like no one wanted to go, but I finally got everything in order and straighten out and now most of my family isn't even coming to my birthday dinner. My mom and my grandparents (on my moms side) are the only ones coming. I go to all of my family's stuff all the time and when my favorite day in the whole entire year comes around and people made other plans it really hurts my feelings. Should I be upset?

I am 53. I don't believe parents should have to support their kids in a way that helps them for their future. I don't believe in getting my son and daughter a learners permit, a license, or teaching them how to drive. I don't believe in letting them get a job to save up money, because I refuse to teach them how to drive, I refuse to drive them(they cannot walk, as we live on a highway/ intersection and they refuse to walk in the street with cars), I refuse to teach them how to drive, and they can't use public transportation(an hour away) as I refuse to drive them there. They have no one to help them with these things, as I have had them home schooled(they still are) for 11 years. What do you think? I plan on kicking them out with nothing when they(17) both turn 18. I stopped celebrating both of their birthdays when they were 8 years old. I haven't wanted them for 15 years. I also believe in kids having no contact with parents/ family members as soon as you kick them out at 18. At 18, they will be legal adults, and it is retarded for them to still live with you and see you. What do you think? I even think 17 is too old for this! I keep telling my son and daughter I am not their father anymore and when I kick them out with nothing at 18 it is not my fault. My son got upset and I yelled and called him retarded. Was I in the right? I have never actually considered myself their father, so don't know why that bothers my son for.

I currently have two debit cards. One is for college and another is for my personal self. I'm not a big spender, I know when to stop and how to control my money and spend on things that I need. But, my mom thinks I'm out of control and plans on combining my college savings and my personal money together so I won't have access to it which is dumb. Since, my dad is buying me a car in a few weeks I'll be able to actually find jobs and stuff, but she won't let me get a job at my age (16). Which is frustrating. Well my cousin Robbie is MLG and he weighs like 350 lbs, and today my grandma got really angry at him and unplugged all his consoles and made him run a mile around the block as punishment. When he got back, he was sweating like crazy and he kept coughing over and over and complaining that he felt like he was being stabbed in the lungs whenever he took a breath. Then he collapsed on the ground foaming at the mouth and we all panicked and my cousin Leonard started screaming and my aunt rushed him to the ER and forgot her cell phone at home. I am 40. been trying to find a babysitter for my 2, 8 and 16 yr old I am only going to pay someone $250 a week. I need someone Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday from 8am until 10pm. I'm also a neat freak I have not allowed any of the old sitters we've had before do this either. I don't allow any sitter to bring breakfast/lunch/dinner for them that requires to be using my fridge stove or microwave. Alot of these potential sitters with great reviews have cussed me out because of my requirements and pay I offer. I found 3 people online so far. First person was a 17 year old, she told me she couldn't do it for $250. 2nd person was an 18 year old guy he said possibly but he would have to see. So, I'm 14, and my current neighborhood is characterless and mundane. I'm home schooled due to anxiety and health problems, so I'm constantly at my home. Reasoning behind my want to move is because the street (it's more of a street than a neighborhood, five simple houses) only had older adults and no children my age. The only children are my neighbor's grandkids who are rarely there and a seven-year-old down the street. Our house is not in the best condition, and my parents are completely oblivious to the fact that the mold in our home needs to be removed and it could make us all sick. Not to mention the house has cracks, holes, the floor has areas that are missing, you name it. I am very grateful and thankful to have a roof over my head, believe me. I never had a ton of things growing up, but I do have enough, and I am thankful for it all. The reasons I want to move are 1. It's lonely here. 2. The state of the house. If someone (who had the power to) came over and saw the house, they would condemn it. I've attempted to bring it up, but it's usually brushed off. I want to talk to my uncle (I live with him, my grandma, and another uncle) either tonight or this weekend about it and I need some help on how to be convincing enough to let him think about it. I could always type more reasons and problems, but I believe I have complained enough. I'm not one to enjoy complaining, but this is something I feel very strongly of. Thank you so much!

Scenario: My mom and sister share a car and car keys. Last night while working at my family's bookstore I had to go out to the car and get something. When I came back in I placed them beside my sister on the table she was working at. I said "I'm putting the keys here okay?" She looked at me, nodded, and said "Okay." So I assumed she had heard me and went on with my life. Today, we carpooled up to college with a friend. Fifteen minutes ago, my mom texted my sister asking after the keys and I told my sister she must have left them on the back table. This led to one of the stupidest public arguments I've ever had. My sister told me that it was MY fault that the keys got left behind on the table because I didn't 'make sure' she heard me and placed the keys in her hand. I informed her that I HAD made sure she heard me and that she had responded. As for the keys, I told her that she could have picked them up herself after I told her and I was not taking the blame for her crap. She did not like this. After our conversation I called my mom and told her what had happened so mom called my dad at the store. Lo and behold, he found the keys. Herein lies the dilemma: What should I do when my sister makes a mistake and tries to blame it on me then gets angry when I point it out? This is not the first time it's happened.

My Dad is NOT a good husband but he is otherwise a good person. Most kids I know with divorced parents see one parent in the morning and one in the afternoon. I have an old snow board with boots, bindings, and a bag that I bought a while ago. Brand new at the time in 2012, for about $800 and only used a couple times. I m getting older, I prefer skiing more often, and injuries are more likely with a board; so it just sits in storage. Here s the issue: My boyfriend has a daughter, who treats me with disrespect. Since it is a private visit where I am just taking a gift by for 20 minutes (he will be doing the day with in-laws as there's no big family gathering) I am worried if my 3 siblings and their two spouses and son all come then it will be rude. Also I worry he will decline next year. So how can I go just solo or with just my Dad if my siblings end up finding out I am going? This being if it is a visit I set up (that is how it was last year). Last time I asked people said "just don't them your going" and that is my plan but if they find out what do I say? I am a 25 year old single guy with a 15 year old niece Jill, my sister's daughter. Jill often comes to my house for help with her homework. If we finish her homework late she spends the night a my house and I take her to school the next morning. She told me she was a nervous wreck from her mom and dad fighting all the time and they were getting a divorce. She wanted to stay with me until the divorce was final. I told her that was OK with me but she needed her parents OK which I thought would NEVER happen. However her parents must have thought it was best for her not to see them fighting all the time and agreed she could stay with me until there divorce was final. I was very surprised by their decision but I think they were thinking of what their fighting was doing to Jill. Jill moved in with me and has been living with me for 3 months. She is a very nice person and is no longer depressed. We have had a lot of fun time together going to school events and sporting events. Jill ask me if I would adopt her so she could stay with me permanently. I told her that I doubt if her parents would let that happen. I don't know if you can adopt someone that has living parents. Does anyone know if that can be done? Is there a better solution than adopting her? Could she just live with me if her parents are OK with it?

A good friend asked me to let her daughter Jo stay with us in our spare room for a month while Jo goes to college. My friends home is about a month from being finished. Jo got into alcohol and drugs when she was in high school and made several porn movies. Her parents sent her to rehab. She has been out of rehab for 13 months and has been clean and sober since rehab. I met her and I believe she sincerely wants to put that life behind her and start fresh. She is a beautiful girl and will be much sought after by guys. My concern is I have a 17 year old son at home and I work days so I can not be at home all the time to watch him and her. Just a little background information, I am 18 years old as of today. Its been about a week or so since told both my mom, and my dad. Currently I am enrolled at a University (taking about 10 hours of classes), both semester are paid for, so that's no big deal. I had a truck when i came here, it was in my dads name since we never really thought about switching it over. After I came out to my dad, he originally was going to sign the truck over to me; But instead, he decided that it would be better to just come early in the morning when I was asleep and take it from me. That's when I decided to move in with my boyfriend (so save on housing and meal plan fees), which we've been seeing each other ever since I started college (4 months) hes a sweet heart. Also, my parents cut my car insurance off and "said" they were going to cut my phone off but haven't yet, they used to send me money, but don't anymore. I'm a 15 year old Indian boy. My cousin, Lakshman, is 16. Recently, he came to India to visit family, and he is acting completely different than he was when I saw him 4 years before. He told me to call him Lucky, and he corrects me whenever I don't. It's been 3 weeks, and I haven't seen him wear any clothes that aren't black, white, gray or leather. He always wears a leather jacket, but it's 70 degrees. Also, whenever he's outside, he always dresses like an American (white t shirt, black leather jacket, jeans and boots) He also only talks in english. I've told him not to, because Americans often get charged extra (because they won't know high fees) and might even get robbed. He just laughed and says that he knows martial arts. He's also never home, because he's out, and he always seems to be picking fights. He refuses to eat Indian food we cooked for him, because he calls it disgusting. I recently, at my request, moved to Mississippi to live with my dad and stepmom because my biological mom has drug problems and has been a very inconsistent mom (to say the least). I love her, but my dad and stepmom have always been there for me. and I needed stability. Before I made the decision to move here, my dad and stepmom warned me that they still believed in spanking as a last resort even at my age. This morning I got in big trouble for something that I, in all fairness, deserved to be in trouble for. But I was still flabbergasted when dad had my stepmom take me out back and bust my behind. I know that they love me, I'm NOT looking to turn them in or get them in any trouble (regardless of the answer to this question), but this is so far from my cultural norms that I have to ask, are they even legally allowed to do this? So me and my wife decided to let her younger pregnet sister stay with us . Then plan was that she would help save , so we could switch to a two bedroom apartment. So far its been about 2 months she been here. We set house rules about 3 weeks ago , becuse things were starting to get out of hand . One of the rules was that she could not bring guys over at night . 4 days in a row I woke up and always a guy sleeping . This is not a hotel , so I talked to my wife and we had a chat with her . My wife was on the sensitive side so we decided to give her one more chance . Part of the rules was also that she need to get a job with in 3 weeks . Not only did she not get a job, she like to complain on social media that there is no food to eat ( she is a picky eater ) which makes me mad becuse 1st of all there is always food and second of all she hasn't even contribute to anything when it comes to paying rent or buying Groceries . So now I'm stuck with decideding what I should do , she about 3 month pregnet and can't seem to get it togeather. the baby is not going to wait , but at the same time I can't let her get away with everything becuse then it won't help her in life. What would you guys suggest ?

My husband's two uncles are facebook friends with me. I realize the following about these uncles; They are on facebook everyday and all day. They keep sharing posts that are political, critical about another religion, and critical about our government. The posts are so critical I am afraid they might get physically rude to someone in real life in that target religion and if someone in their family wanted to sleep with someone in that targeted religion. I am turned off by them and a little scared off. Do you believe that are angry, unhappy etc?

Question: Christmas is wrecked by my parents divorcing this year. How can I get some of my Christmas joy?

My Mom is making us travel because she doesn't want our Dad to see us. It's how she is getting him back. Because of this we aren't going to get to see anyone until New Years when our Dad gets us for the weekend. I can't stay as I get no say at 14 (believe me I tried). News Years won't feel like a Christmas visit and our cousins won't be there. We don't have cousins on my mothers side and it's only her, my sister and I and my grandma. My mother and grandmother sit around talking about how bad my Dad and his family are. I feel so sad about this and mad at my mother for not helping us have the family on Dads side. How do I handle this and have some pleasure in Christmas?

On my dad's side, I have four first cousins and maybe 8 or 9 second couscous. On my moms side, I have 17 first cousins and 26 second cousins.

I am a man with 4 kids to 3 different women. I had one as a teen, one in college, and my wife and I have 2. I'm trying to figure out how to best make the holidays work for my kids. I am aware of the lack of judgement I had. I'm looking for advice. Child 1 is 13. His Mom and I get along very well. Never been to court, schedule is flexible to whatever works best for him. Child 2 is 9. His Mom has diagnosed mental issues. How we get along depends on if she is taking her medicine. I have majority physical custody; she has every other weekend. In exchange for her not appealing the majority custody judgement, I gave her Christmas Day. For Christmas, her hours are 11 p.m. Christmas Eve to 9 p.m. Christmas night. We've done this since he was 2. Children 3 and 4 are with my wife, ages 2 and newborn. Wife and I have been together for 6 years. Previously for Santa gifts, we did Christmas Eve. But my wife just told me that when the 9 year old stops believing in Santa, she wants to move Santa gifts to Christmas Day morning for the 2 youngest. My 13 year old would be able to be there. But I know my 9 year old would not. His Mom would never agree. And I don't want to go back to court over one day a year. In blended families, what do you do? Do you celebrate holidays even if you don't/can't have all kids? My wife said he's still celebrating Christmas morning - just not with us. But I feel like we shouldn't celebrate w/o him.

Question: Do younger siblings still get treated like kids even if they're adults?

I feel like as a 19 year old all my older siblings who are 25 and up seem to treat me like I'm incapable of alot of things. Even though they can tell I'm mature. I'm okay with it if they do it for that reason. It's like they purposely or just will forever see me as the little runt of the family. No matter what success or maturity level I reach. Sometimes I feel like they don't want believe I'm capable of adult things so they watch me, treat me, talk to me like I'm still 8. It's funny to me and actually an admired behavior i find in them. I know they think I'm weird and it's true I'm really freakin weird and proud of it. It's like they think that just because I act a certain way so have to be treated different and since I'm one of the youngest I'm always going to be considered a baby to them. And I understand... why should we actually treat other people different just because they've grown? In some cases sure but some things just never change I guess.

My mom is mean. But she pretends like the best mom in front of my dad. She doesn't listen to me,but she complains that I didn't tell her so she couldn't know it. While I'm out,she messed my room. She slapped my face midnight while sleeping. But my dad doesn't know. She doesn't respect my opinion. Why me?

I'm 14 and was raised by my mother. Dad passed on when I was 7. Its always been just me and my mom and I'm very close to her. Recently she's started seeing this guy. I hate that. I just don't want another man in our lives. My dad was a great guy and a great father and husband. I feel like my mother's cheating on his soul. Him and me, she's cheating on us. I don't want my mom to get married again. I don;t want some guy to steal her from me. They'll probably have a new child ( the thought of which I can't stand) and she'll stop loving me. She'll never love me the same. I don't want my mother to sleep with another guy. Call me selfish, I don't care. She's the one who's selfish and doesn't care about how I feel. I already made it very clear to her on how I feel about this but she still see's him. I hate that guy. I hate my mom too. I asked her if she still loves dad to which she said yes. How can she still love him, the child they had together (me) and love a different guy, the way she loved my dad? I'm still here, a constant reminder of her time with my dad. I just hate how she gave her heart to some stranger now. I feel cheated. Its not fair. Out of all the women in this world, why is this new idiot come for my mother out of everyone? I am 16 and a girl, and I was in this group with some of my girlfriends and guy friends. They started talking about her and even sent a picture of her in the group (a normal picture not a nude) The idiots then added her in the group and she got angry and everything. As I didn't have any say in this, I tried to defend her but instead she started bashing me! She said that I am in this group with these guys She said I was a slut/ whore and that I had no "self respect" and she said that I was a lesbian and that i also looked like a guy..? Wtf.? I didn't say anything to her! I was defending that stereotype! After that, I had enough of her and Called her a stereotypical ***** cause she hurt me so badly. The guys then removed her from the group and then she private texted me. I ignored. She then goes on and texts my uncle! Saying that I was very rude to her and that I insulted her, and that I PUT THOSE PICTURES!. My uncle forwarded the screenshots of the text to my dad and now my dad is acting all cool with me as if he didn't see them. Just checked his phone to see the screenshots. My dad tried talking but at that moment I didn't know what he was talking about so he left and said I'll talk later. I am very scared, that 21 year old is lying to my family. She stalked me and found my uncle to text. I am shocked that she bashed me even after I defended her. I deleted the text she sent me as it was very very harsh. What am I supposed to tell my dad'.? Please help.!?

My parents and my friends parents have banned together on the idea that they saw on t.v called worlds strictest parents where a kid from one family goes to live and experience a different household with different parents and different rules. We're both 16y/o. They decided to swap us out, give us hell and see how it goes. i thought it'd be funny bc we could give them hell back, but my friend is taking the idea worst than I am and really anxious about it and upset. He told me he plans to run away for the month if they try to go through with it. I told my parents and they told his but no one is taking him serious. But i know he's being serious. What should I do?

My sister is 16 and I have a camera in my room so I know if anyone goes in and out of my bedroom. I saw my sister go into my room and steal my thongs. Im not sure why? But the next day she did the same thing. And she put the ones she stole at first back. I looked at them and they seemed stretched out so thats how I know she was wearing them

I'm 19 and moving to a different state for university next year to do a 4 year degree. The closer it gets to moving, the more scared and anxious i get. My parents are older than most (my dad is 66 and my mum is 65) and I guess i'm just worried about not being with them while they're still young. Obviously them being 70 yrs old when I finish my degree isn't that old, but I'm worried this is all happening too fast and I should be spending at least another year with them. Idk, what experience did you guys have/what advice and thoughts do you have for me?

Short story short.... my fiance s family is a piece of s******. His dad does not talk to anyone (it seems to have some mild autism). He works and pays all the bills. His mom yells 24/7, works too, but does not pay a thing in the house. Not even her own gas. My fiance still lives with his parents. I do to. We are both college students. He graduated with an Art degree, and I am completing a pre-dental degree. I have a chance of becoming a dentist. Before, his family issues were not that noticiable cause we were both in school. Now I am still in school, he is done, but has no job. He keeps telling me he will get a high pay job, so all the full time jobs he gets he reject it, cause the pay is not "high" enough. He has no school debt, though. His parents were never at home because of work so we had our privacy. Now, his parents brought family to live with them. They are there ALL the time, so gone privacy. HIs mom called me yelling one time for something my fiance did. I mean I don t know if I want to be dealing with in the future. I feel stuck cause my fiance has bought me a lot of things, and i feel like i am being ungrateful. I just cannot stand seeing him anymore. I just can t. my fiance does work part time.
