I had a traumatic childhood where I actually had to move out when I was a teenager. Like I was removed by police for my safety. I reunited with parents in my mid twenties. Long story short, they did a lot of horrible things, but I decided to forgive them and attempt a relationship with them.They're divorced and remarried now. However, it's still really hard to have a relationship with them. Now that they're getting older, they're talking about moving across the country to live near me, because they're realizing what's important in life. They didn't get this during my childhood when I needed them! I got married last year and my husband and I are trying to get pregnant. I'm literally terrified to have a baby and then have them both and their spouses around all the time. I have my own life here that is peaceful and that I built entirely independent from them. It feels like they would contaminate it almost. My life is pure and they are both so negative and mentally unhealthy. What would you do? Would you tell them you're not ok with them moving here? I feel like I don't have the right to say that, but they would literally ruin my life. It feels like now that I've overcome all of life's challenges on my own, they want to come enjoy all the perks now, lIke family dinners and grandchildren. They've both behaved horribly when they come to visit. Any advice please? I feel like if I don't have a baby, then I won't have to deal with this... but that's so sad.

Hi! I'm 14 and a girl. My mother's husband will move in with us soon. I don't want to live with him because I'm scared of men. When I was 5, my uncle raped me. Since then the only man I trust is my father. I would like to live with him. He shares custody with my mom. I don't want to get raped or let this man boss me around. My friends tell me all the time about stepdads who discipline them. I don't want him to have any kind of authority over me! I'm so scared of him. I didn't want to go with them on a trip for my last spring break in high school. I wanted to spend these last moments with my friends instead. At first I was upset because she wouldn't let me stay home alone because I'm on my period and very hormonal and just wanted my bed and food. Then when she wouldn't let me do that, all I wanted was to just go to my sisters house instead of go with them. She was screaming at me to get up and get in the car but I was on my ground crying. She was shoving me and pulling me and then grabbed me by my pony tail to make me stand and up and then I fell back on the ground. She continued to scream at me and strike me, most of them I protected my face by putting my hands up but she got a few blows in, once even making my ear ring. She grabbed the hair on my scalp and tried to pull me several times and she even grasped her hands around my neck. Keep in mind I am not hitting her back at all all I am doing is trying to protect myself. She tried pulling me by the neck of my shirt, and then took my shirt all the way off. I'm not saying it was ok to be disrespectful to my mom I realize I was being irrational as well but I am after all a 17 year old girl with a lot of emotions. I do not plan on pressing charges or anything of that sort I was just wondering if disrespect justifies treatment like this?

I feel therefore like a 2nd rate family member. They don't care. My sisters don't care either but I do. How do I get them to see I enjoy seeing the extended family? They think it is a compulsion thing as I am scrupulous and so they think I have no joy in it. I don't have many friends as I am bullied at school over the years and family is where I feel safe. I have anxiety issues (OCD like) and so my parents think seeing extended family is a compulsion I don't really want to do. They are wrong. I am hurting at having to be 2nd rate on my Mom's side of the family. Any thoughts? I know people write at 18 I can see who I want but it isn't that simple. My parents are notified of the invites and they don't tell me. On top of that, what if the extended family thinks I am not interested and therefore is cold when I reach out at 18. So how do I get my parents to see this? Sorry I bring this up a few times a week. I will cut back. I just can't bring it up anywhere else without being put down by my parents who are using me to get my Mom's siblings back for old issues.

I was FaceTiming with a FRIEND from school who's FIFTEEN, but happens to look older. She came in the bathroom, snatched my phone out of my hand, and demanded to look at him. When she saw how he looks she started yelling at him because he shouldn't be talking to a fifteen year old girl. We're both freshmen, and I was trying to tell her that I knew him from eight grade. I had to get my middle school yearbook to prove it. Why don't they do that if their son is talking to a girl? (I'm not saying that all parents don't) She could have ruined our friendship... I'm 21. I was thinking, & I barely have any good memories with my dad (besides family vacations). Ever since I was in elementary school I didn't like him, he cheated on my mom & would disappear for a week at a time, ignore all our calls, posts pictures with other women, etc. This lasted as early as 8 years old to about when I turned 14. The other day he said he can only take me in small doses & I completely agree, we just don't like each other. Is this bad? Am I being dramatic?

I've recently turned 13 and for the pass couple of years, my mom has been calling me a b****!! There was this one time, when we were talking about our data usage. To make a long story short, for 8 years my life has been a living hell because of piece of **** family ive been forced into. I am the oldest 20 years old, out two sisters I have a sister named Ali 17, and another named, Danielle 17. My mom and sister Ali have always had a rocky relationship and it's like my mom needs her approval or something to feel whole about herself. Anytime my mom is feeling upset with my step dad, my sisters, co workers, anyone. She comes to me and tells me ALL about it. I don't have a problem with it. I'm 5'9 and in high school I always weighed 120 now I weigh around 132. Anytime I go over there I feel like the first thing they do is just look at me and judge me for it. My mom doesn't hug me or say hi, she says" look at you, you look like you've gained a few pound!" And my sister Ali will laugh and say "yeah fatty" and then my mom and her laugh. And my mom is always handing me diet pills and what not. And it kind makes me feel really upset not about myself but the fact she says and does this stuff when her herself is like 300 pounds. She says it's from having my sisters at the same time. I believe her but I'm just in awe at how she can sit there commenting on my weight. I don't know what to do about their bullying without hurting their feelings..

My dad is retired, but he sits at home most days. He won t do anything by himself. I hang out with him as much as I can but it isn t enough. Even if I never hung out with my friends, and hung out with my dad every Saturday what is he going to do with the other 308 days out of the year? My father is an asshole. He was an asshole for as long as I can remember. He acts so nice in front of other people but when we're alone he treats me like crap. The most recent example is from yesterday. I got home after a night out and he's all like why are your eyes red? What have I told you about weed (my eyes weren't red and I've never touched weed but he doesn't want to believe me). And I get he's worried I mean that's his job but we've fought about weed a thousand times and yesterday he was all angry and screaming and for the first time in my life I actually stood up and screamed at him (unfortunately I used the f word a lot without realizing it because he did too, that was my fault). Anyway this morning he got all psycho. He put his god awful music so loud it pierced through my ears I tried closing the door putting my headphones on but didn't work(the asshole wore earplugs). I begged him to turn it down but he turned it louder and now he refuses to give me food and obviously he's taken away all my money. My head hurts so much from this morning but he won't give me the painkillers. How do I deal with this psycho without making everything worse? Btw talking calmly to him won't work he refuses to talk calmly to me. Oh and if somebody could send me some food it would be highly appreciated. I'm starving and I can't afford not to eat I'm really skinny

Last time my uncle of 17 years old and i played a game and he won. Since he won i told him he can ask me any favor. Yesterday he told me to go outside and buy somthing for him as a favor i said another day because i was sick.I ended up nevrer went. Ps: I own him 10$. My plan is to put it in a salsa jar, put the salsa jar in a plastic bag, then put it in the box my Xbox came in, and then put it a drawer that won't hold in smell but just so she can't see the box. It will be about an eight of very good weed. Is there any chance she will smell it??? Is there any other way or thing to do so she WILL NOT smell it at all?

I'm out of the house now. They asked if I'd come over and stay at their house for 8 days to watch their dogs while they go to Florida . My dad ALWAYS chews with his mouth open and smacks his lips. It makes me rage just thinking about it. My mom cracks her joins constantly and chews with her mouth open. Hello I am a mom of a twelve year old. Summer is coming up and we planned to take a one week vacation to Santa Cruz where we will be staying near a beach. My daughter grown out of her bathing suits, and is a C cup. She looks older than most twelve year olds her looking about 16. She never acts provocative but I'm afraid people will try to sexulize her at the beach for wearing a swimsuit. Shes literally only 12 but looks much older and is more progressed than kids her age. How do I deal with this? I dont like the thought of people looking at her in that way..

I'm 16 and I'm depressed and I have anxiety. My Parents know this and they care but sometimes they act like jerks. My dad drinks, not a lot but one or two beers a night. He has anger issues as well. Tonight I was in bed trying to rest because I have a headache and him and my mom both barge into my room and tell me they're going to the store and I'm coming. I told them I don't want to go out, it's late and I have a headache. He yells at me straight in my face and says we won't buy you clothes anymore. Sure I can get a job and I'm in the process of trying to get one buts it's been tough, and parents are responsible to get their children's essential things such as clothes. I told him can we go tomorrow? He starts yelling at me even more and my mom had to make him stop. He makes me want to scream and sometimes stab myself. yes I love him but he makes me go insane. My mom often makes me feel bad and blames me for stuff. I always get yelled at and blamed and it makes me go insane. What do I do?

Not now. I'm just a baby (17), but when I'm like 30 If i ever have kids I think I might let them go wherever they want and do their own thing. Because my family is quite controlling and I'm not allowed to or never have been allowed to go out, date (it was never a problem because I'm sort of a freak), go out with friends. I feel like if I ever had kids I'd let them do all the things I couldn't.

My daughter is 20 and she goes to Harvard. For a while now, I've noticed that every time someone asks her where she goes to college, she never wants to say it. She'll fumble around or say "Umm...I go to school in Massachusetts" or "Mehh...just around Boston" but she never actually wants to say she goes to Harvard. When someone pushes her for the school's name, it almost seems pained to be coming out of her mouth and she whispers it. Why? Isn't she proud of where she goes, considering how hard she worked to get in? I have no problem if she doesn't want to mention it, I just find it a bit weird and awkward when she does that, especially around my friends.

so once in awhile my mom will get really really angry out of nowhere for no specific reason at all. i never thought much of it but today, it got really bad. she was fighting with my sister and then got mad at my dad for no reason. she started shouting really loud and getting aggressive. she was throwing things and saying really hurtful things to me and my sisters and my dad and saying how we ruined her life. i don t mean to brag but we are a really great family. my dad is a successful business owner who sold one of his businesses to spend more time with his family. my mother has a great career as well, my oldest sister is in medical school right now, my other sister is about to graduate this may with a major in computer science, and i m close to finishing my junior year with stellar academic accalades. we are always a very happy family who spend time and for the most part very well put. but my mom really hit a breaking point today and got very aggressive. she tried leaving but i took her keys so she just walked out of the house it s almost 10 pm and i m really worried. she left about an hour ago. i ve seen her get really moody but this was the worst. she was selfish, and mean and angry. my sister just called and said she found her and she s with her now. what should i do? i can t just leave her but i don t know what to do to get her to be better. i don t hate her. she s a wonderful woman actually but today she was so hurtful and it was scary to see what she was doing

I've known that my mother is pregnant for a few weeks already. She doesn't know that I know. I also found out that she went to Planned Parenthood last week with my dad to get her test taken. Tomorrow my mom has a appointment somewhere where she would not tell me. Just a few hours ago, my parents were having a conversation and I head my mom said "prepare our money tomorrow.", "This is your fault. Now we just wasted $500." She was talking about having an abortion tomorrow. My mom also said, "How embarrssing to have one at this age." (Referring to bring pregnant). My mom thinks that being pregnant at 43 is embarrssing! The strange thing is that my dad is happy about it. Im a single child and I've always wanted a sibling. Is it normal for me to feel hurt? How cruel is it for her to kill an innocent child.

So my father passed away four years ago. He was the main money maker of the house. He was a doctor. We never had any problems with debt or anything like that. Now that he's gone, we do not have as much money as we used to, and that's expected. But the problem is, my mom doesn't do anything about it and she acts like she doesn't care. I hate being at home. My parents never let me do anything. I'm not even allowed to go into my room. I get grounded for several months for the smallest things like not brushing the dogs. Between the groundings and the chores I'm unable to have any friends, and every friend I make I end up losing because of them. I'm not allowed to take naps during the day or sleep at my friends houses. I get very good grades (4.2 gpa) and have never gotten in trouble with the law. Several months ago I was severely depressed and harmed myself on a daily basis. I asked my mother for help and she completely ignored me everytime I asked her which resulted in me becoming suicidal. My stepdad never stops threatening me, yesterday he told me if I ever forgot to do my chores again he was gonna make me hate my life.

She keeps the doors closed whenever she's in there (she's pretty well always in there) and when I'm in there she's not considerate of my feelings. She'll watch tv I don't like or play video games loudly or music full blast or FaceTime on her phone. I was raised to never close my door unless sleeping or changing. (She's got a different Dad so she never was taught that) Is it wrong to ask her to leave the door open and if not how can I?

I was mistreated and humiliated in ways unimaginable by the very people who are supposed to love me and care for me. No one ever cared for my well being even when they knew I was in pain and getting hurt. People heard and saw but no one ever cared enough to do or say anything. It makes me feel so bad and this still continues to be the case. When I am in public or during times when a stranger couldve helped, no one did. People would just look at me and then turn the other way as if I was nothing but a dsposable piece of trash. I dont understand whats wrong with me that no one bats an eye. No one cares if I am starving, cold or in pain. I feel horrible and people on the internet always say nice things but in reality, its a different world, no one cares.

my family has abused me for 20 years now- i can't get into it but bad stuff. Ive suffered and didnt get any support. They continue just abusing or mistreating me. Recently, i got into a car wreck. My crazy rude parents just verbally berated me on the phone- never ONCE did anyone care to come visit me or help me out- i have a lot of pets and no one cared. All they did was harass and treat me horribly. It made my injuries worse and I was so confused. When I had to get a new car- they too went crazy abusing me. Both my horrid parents have gone to visit my sister who lives many states away from them and they stay with her for a week. She has lots of friends and even in laws living with her. She doesn't need extra people. I have no friends and just an abusive crazy family. My evil mother is now going to visit her again- for another month. During this whole accident time- my mother came to my place ONCE for 3 hours and harassed and abused me during that time. How evil are these people and what can someone do about this? i live 2 hours from my parents- they easily could've come to my place to help me out. They are both retired and have nothing to do all day. They also have money, and were so angry I was getting a new car they harassed the crap out of me...im in my 30's. They were angry b/c they realized i could make car payments so I wasn't poor the way they want me to be. It angered them so much they went crazy abusing me for it for the jerks who answered--no stop blaming the victim...there are many reasons victims are still dealing with their abusers and the abusers is the only reason...they have broken the victim down and the victim can't leave..i live in a place my parents own. I am expecting my first baby and am very excited about being a first time mother. I am a very active girl and am trying to get in as much exercise as i possibly can by walking to work and back and walking to other places near by but of late my family are all insisting on driving me everywhere when the places are only 5-10 minutes away. I have told them numerous times on many an occasion that i am perfectly capable of making my own way there at my own steady pace in my own time and i don't need lifts and then i carry on walking but whenever i do there is always drama. I am constantly told that i am being selfish by not letting them get involved and not letting them drive me. It's not that i don't appreciate help i just want my own little bit of independence while i have it. How can i make them understand this and how can i decline politely?
