They're 7 and 8 year old boys and they are very demanding saying things like "buy me this and buy me that" and he buys them whatever they want and constantly talks in front of them about only wearing certain brands and his kids make comments about other people who don't have as nice of things or cars. He also has a nice house, above average and they're constantly making comments about how their house sucks and they want a better one. And lately they have even been asking me to buy them things and they never say thank you for the things they get. For example I've brought them treats to be nice or happy meals from McDonald's and they'll be like "you got me that one?! That sucks" instead of saying thank you. I know they aren't my kids but we talk about being together and he's a single parent so I look at them like they'd be my own if we ever got married or advanced in our relationship and it just really bothers me how he raises hem to be so materialistic and it's not how I'd want to raise my children if we ever had them together but I also know it's not my place to say I don't like how he raises his own kids. Advice?! |

We were serious about each other and both of our families knew about us/ met each other's families. We both visited each other often and we made it work overall. The issue was with his parents. They didn't approve of our relationship. They just didn't think he was ready for such a commitment yet since they think he's still young (he's 26 btw) and still has a long way to go before thinking about marriage, so we broke up. He told me he felt guilt because he couldn't please both parties (myself and his parents) and didn't want to put me through this situation any longer knowing that his parents aren't accepting and don't know if they'll ever be accepting. We still talk occasionally but our chats are very straightforward and cold and obviously not the same as it used to be. t's been 3 months now but I'm still miserable after everything that's happened and am finding it really difficult to cope with. We decided it would be best to delete each other off of social media because it was really unhealthy for us and so we did and honestly I feel good about that decision. When really, I don't think a guy is judged by whether he has a girlfriend or not, or what he has in general. I think people mostly judge a guy on whether he's a 'man' or not is by his actions in life, what he does, how he treats people overall. Not necessarily if he has a female companion or not. So in my view, I think whether a guy has a girlfriend or not doesn't really doesn't make him more or less a man. Just some guys do and some don't. |
