I'm a female in my 30s and moved back home a few years ago because of financial reasons. I have 2 siblings; a sister and brother. My sister is in her late 20s, moved out a few yrs ago and doing great. My brother is 32 and lives at home. Me and my sister struggled in college, have always had jobs, saved money, drove cars that are considered dumps (in the name of saving money and to not live above our means). However, my brother is completely opposite. He didn't finish college because he thought his dorm was not up to par and has been at home ever since. He quit his job 6 years ago (still unemployed) with no money saved, owing my mother money. The only help my mom gets from him is $200 in foodstamps he gets and he cuts the grass. He hasn't given a b-day or holiday gift in 6 yrs, contributed to any bills or looks for work. Nothing has changed since we were young and it's worse now. She let's my brother drive her BMW, even though he has a car that she fixed for him (97 Acura), cooks for him, bought him an Xbox, new tv, computer, clothes and buys his toiletries. Then if I mention her treatment towards him and how she would never let me or my sister get away with all of this, she gets angry at me. It also pisses me off that I go out of my way to help her financially, even though I'm struggling and doing everything to save and move out. Then I see her buying him stuff, while I go without, driving a bucket of a car. Why do for one child and let the others struggle?

Question: Should I remove these members of my family completely?

I'm 20 and earn 100 euro a week. I moved out from home one year ago to live with my fiance but our rent increased massively causing us to leave the home we made together, the rent rise was a huge shock and every house we looked for was too far from my fiances work or too expensive. My mother and father then offered for us to live with them for the next 6 months so we can save for a mortgage, we are also getting married in 8 months time. Since moving down my sister who i dnt speak to rang my brother telling him that we are taking over the house and living off my parents . She was trying to rise him because in the will he is granted the house. He rang me and told me that my sister said she was ripping that we were moving into my parents. After coming off the phone from him I text my sister telling her she should mind her own business and stop trying to ruin other peoples lives that this is nothing to do with her . My brother then got abuse from my sister for telling me what she said. My brother than rang me attacking me for telling her and told me he was going to kick me out of the house that my mother and father pay rent for and that i help them pay. He kept shouting at me saying the house was his and as much as i explain that i don't want the house he still possessive over it even though all i am doing is saving. They have sent me nothing but abusive messages and threats and I don't know what to do. I am doing nothing to them. Please help.

So in a few weeks, my church's youth group is going on a 3 day vacation to New Jersey Shore (I live in PA). My crush is going, and also a bunch of friends of mine. Everyone is meeting at the church, taking a bus to the shore (it's about a two hour trip), and then taking a bus back a few days later. My mom says she'll let me go, but she has to drive me there and pick me up because she won't let me ride on a bus. She's afraid of our pastor crashing or something. All of my friends will be riding ON the bus. She already won't let me cross streets with them (she makes me let her drive me EVERYWHERE) and they think it's weird that she won't even let me walk across a road. How can I convince her to change her mind? I really don't wanna be the one outcast who has to ride with her mom. :/

Ever since my older sister moved back in with my parents and I she's been stealing from me. She's stolen my money, clothes, makeup, and even my prescription medication! She recently moved out again and she's taken practically half my closet with her. I'm beyond pissed. I have a job that I've worked hard at to get all the stuff I have and now it's all gone. She just steals my stuff and sits on her a$$ all day in her nice new home that her BF bought while relying on him for money. I on the other hand am working hard to get my own money and just recently moved into an apartment that's about the size of my bedroom back home. She's stolen almost every piece of clothing that fits me and I don't have the money to go buy new stuff. How am I going to get back everything she's stolen!? She lives 3 hours away now, I can't just go barge into her house and take everything back.

As a young man in my 30s, I moved from the Midwest to Las Vegas- thinking I would like it. I don't. It's horrible. I don't like to drive and everything is spread out, buses take forever. No one is sincere on the West coast and jobs have been scarce. I have a degree, but didn't realize that the economy in Nevada was so poor. So far, it's been 7 months and I hate it. I want to move home and start over. I called my mother on the phone last night. "Hi Mom, it's Gale. Look- it's just not working out, so it looks like I'll be coming home a little early." She seemed fine about it, until she asked where I would be staying. "With you, I assumed." I snapped. "Come on, I don't have a job now. I can't afford anything but plane tickets. I'll work it out when I get back to your place – I just need six months of rest." But my mother balked, saying she and my father were 'old, and tired' and not in the mood for their grown son to come back. I began crying, insisting to talk to my father. But Mom just hung up, and emailed me later saying she loved me- but that I was acting like a victim. I've decided to fly home anyways and just show up on their doorstep. Surely they won't turn me away then. I'm not a drug addict or criminal, this is insane. It's a tough economy. Will they make me sleep in a shelter? Please tell me what I should do?

She cheated on my dad and they are in the process of a divorce. I moved out with my mom and sister but my mom drinks herself to sleep and constantly kicks me and my sister out of the house when we're home sick or just home in general. I have bad anxiety and other issues and stayed home today, but she made my dad get me from the city at 11. Then we passed the house and she was home with a beat up white car in front of the house. This car was there several times... It's the guy she sees and cheated on my dad with and he's married! What do I do? I'm 18 almost and my sister is 14. She also yells at us all the time and doesn't bring us to the doctor/ appointments and school. My dad does all of it.

We were highschool sweethearts. Got together when I was 16 and he was 17. We were on and off for 5 and 1/2 years. We'd get with new people for a month, and get back together. When I was 20 and he was 21, we had a daughter. My family has never liked him and wanted me to give her my last name, since we weren't married or even live together. I went againt my family and caused a huge uproar and gave her his last name. A month after her first birthday, he broke up with me again, and met a new girl. They got engaged after 4 months and married 4 months after that. I was so hurt by that. I wouldn't let him see our daughter any but then we went to court so he sees her now. He always wanted to see our daughter, but I didn't want her around the new girl. But the judge said it didn't matter because she's the wife now and she's been proven that she's not dangerous to our daughter, which I didn't think she was anyway. I just didn't want her around our daughter, playing mommy. Now, my ex, his wife, and our daughter all have the same last name. I'm so hurt by this, and because he didn't marry me after almost 6 years. Should I have her last name changed? I need advice. My daughter is only two. She knows her first name only.

I'll try to keep the backround of this story short. I've always been close with my first cousins on my mother's side (mother's sister). I'm 24 and I have a 25 year old cousin and a 17 year old cousin (I'm a guy and they are both guys). Anyhow, my Aunt is super passive aggressive and has sheltered her kids and made up excuses to present them with a different reality (sort of brainwashing). Anyhow, I've been trying to move on with my life and distance myself from their family and running into a lot of resistance. I've been hearing stuff my younger cousin like how my family gossips, speaks badly about others, and how my parents brianwash me. It couldn't be further from the truth as that's exactly how they act. And in truth, my parents are the nicest people and absolutely haven't done any such thing in the past. However, their parents have brainwashed them into believing a bunch of crap. Anyhow, how can I drop these people when I've been around them my whole life. I still get along with my older cousin, but he's very immature and tells his parents everything. He's never had a job and they just inherited a bunch of money. Anyhow, kinda rambling now. Any advice would be great.

I feel wronged by them because I know it's lowering my lifespan and exposing me to bad health effects without my consent. I tried to reason with them and get them to smoke outside at least some of the time, a few time a day, but they refuse to do that. My mother even has enough nerve to get angry at me even thought I'M the one being wronged and my requests are reasonable and politely worded. I understand it's a addition, but I have a severe medical problem that I found out could have been caused by secondhand smoke and/or made worse by it and on top of that it's stressing me out every day and there is nothing stopping them from going outside.They know all this, but they don't care enough to go outside even just 3 times a day. Don't tell me to move out because I can't right now. My brother rarely come to visit because he doesn't want to expose his kids to the smoke, and when he needs them to watch the kids they say they won't smoke around the kids but do it anyway behind his back. This makes me really angry It's wrong to impose bad choices on someone else, it's the same as if they forced me to smoke or drink alcohol, or forced drugs down me, or unhealthy food. It's not right nor is it fair, especially when they start doing it when you're a baby and can't even speak up to defend yourself. It's selfish. What I want most is for them to quit for their own good. I love them and don't want them to die early but I doubt that will happen because they don't seem to even try.

my dad and stepmom are crazy. they are control freaks and have cameras all over the house and lock up everything because they are paranoid and they want us (me, my brother and sister) to feel emotionally trapped. They never do anything with us, and my dad has made physical threats before. He has threatened to knock my teeth out several times, and he yells at me and my brother & sister for the stupidest ****. I am not sure what is going on with my sister throughout my life. She has been acting a little strange lately. Before she hit puberty, she would ask me to accompany her while she showers. I would see her get undressed and she would show me her private parts. Also, when it gets hot in the summer, she would have her shirt undone and exposes her bare chest for me to see. In addition, when she has to quickly change into another shirt, she would do it in front of me and lets me see her chest. Once she started to hit puberty, she would wear bikinis very often and asks for my opinion of how she looks. Whenever she works out, she would ask me to touch her abs to see if she is toned. So far today, she still likes to wear bikinis in front of me and asks for my opinion. I do not get it. Why is she acting this way? Wearing bikinis a lot and showing off her abs. Does she have some kind of fetish with her body? Is there something wrong with her?

Im going to sound like such a spoiled brat but i just want to know. About a year ago my brothers phone screen cracked and withoit even thinking of just getting it fix he got a new phone. Now a few months back his new phone broke and he just got another new phone. Now i m the youngest.. (Just putting it out there) anyway. So i ve had my phone for about a year now (my moms old phone) and my screen has crakced and its been fixed and it was fine. Now my software is crashing and its freezing. Omg can I join this "my stepmums a ***** club"??? She's so fkn annoying and she's been with my dad for 9 years and she's NEVER liked me. Most of my "friends" are getting married, or engaged. My parents are more old school. No spending the night, no trips that sorta things. I ended up getting pregnant, ended up having a miscarriage. He hasn't been over since the pregnancy when he talked to my parents. My mom doesn't want him over. If we do spend time together it's pretty much dinner, and I feel I have to prove where I am. And I can't be gone long. Things have been said. And after a while I end up losing my cool. She hates, lost respect for him, he should of known better. She gets mad if I say we are going some place. She makes comments on its to sleep with him. Other guys will accept me. If I move out she wil lose all respect for me, and will hate him. My mom also brings up his past because at one point he had depression. But in my eyes he's the best person I ever been with. He doesn't try to change me. I could be myself. Something I really haven't had. I do love him It's taken a toll on my relationship, and myself. I've been crying everyday. And living together before marriage is the biggest no! Last week I told my mom I was pregnant but that I might have miscarried and she exploded on me which I understood because I'm only 17 but she tried convincing me to get an abortion which she raised me against and then kept saying I should be glad if I lost the baby. She made comments about how if I had the baby I'd be "living on 10th street with all the n*ggers." I took off and ran next door to my sister's because I couldn't handle the stress as it's not good for a baby. I ended up finding out later that day that I did miscarry and I took the pills yesterday to expell my uterus. I haven't talked to her and I've been staying with my boyfriend's family and they're very supportive & my dad prefers I do also bc his house isn't really set up like a home. Now my mom is saying if I don't return home or to my dad's she's calling the police. The thing is I'm 17 and turn 18 on Halloween. She's making comments about how he's 20 and I'm 17 but the age of consent in New York is 17. I'm not ready to be around her and my dad's house doesn't even have heat or hot water. I don't know what to do. Advice? & what could the police do in this situation?

My mom's a college professor. She recently went on a research trip that lasted for two weeks. She's coming back on Sunday. Recently I was playing a game on my dad's phone when my mom sent him a text. I looked at it, but I thought it would just be a 'this is the time I need you to pick me up' text. What it basically said was she was really horny because she hadn't had sex in two weeks and she really wants my dad to give her oral. Except it was a lot more explicit than that. I guess it bothers me a bit that my mom can apparently be so dirty. I never thought of her that way. I know she and my dad are married, but the idea of them having sex is gross. I feel like I don't belong in my family. They always talk to each other but I am like an outsider. I've tried to fit in but I can't. My brother lives far away, he's not here.I wanted to try something. I haven't talked to him since he's left thinking that he would make an effort and talk to me.Well he hasn't it's been a MONTH. We were together for 6 years and my ex decided she wanted to take a break and have some space from me. She said everything I did was getting annoying. I agreed because I was getting annoyed with her. I moved out at this point. The reason she wanted this is because she said she's at the point in her life where she wants to put all her focus on her kids since most of our relationship she paid more attention to me and just wants to be alone now. After not hearing from her the first couple of days she contacted me. She would contact me a lot asking what I'm doing and how I feel. After about 4 days she decided to break up with me and wants to be friends. It's been about 2 weeks now and she keeps texting and calling me and having me come over like we are still together. I have brought up about starting over and having a relationship and she said she still wants to be alone but you never know what could happen in the future. I know it's not another guy because she is constantly telling me everything throughout her day and asking what I'm doing. It's like we're together but living in separate houses. I never send texts or call her. She's the one doing all the contacting. What does all this mean? What are the we'll get back together? What can I do too get her back?

Hi I'm a High School-student who's been trying to exit the IEP program for 6 school years however, many things are making it difficult task. I first started in the program as a Kindergartener because supposedly I am not able to speak fluently or because from what I know I cannot speak within the same range. Then during my Elementary years I went through so much such as bullies, ignored, and pushed away from certain activities. I wondered as well as a child why was I always taken out of class? Well until I got into 5th grade one of my teachers explain me that I was placed into a program called the IEP and that this is some support program for these who learn differently. Eversince that teacher explained me I tried removing myself from this program because on top of everything after the triannual I found out more things that I never expected. Supposedly i had to be placed with bilingual teachers and that never happened, all my teachers only spoke english also another thing is that I am to be sat in front all the time and that never happened. So i felt i was placed into a cult and that teachers enjoy lieing to my Mom about my accomendation. Then because i discovered this my teachers tried hiding me about General Education classes so I would never ask about them and reason why I say it because they it obvious that they would always... I found out my daughter who is almost 3, possibly isn t mine. I received a picture of a male, with a text stating "I m sorry for telling you this, but the guy in the picture possibly is the father of your child. The mother had relations with this guy around the time she was conceived." So I called the number an found out the mom has been taking money from the guy every month because he possibly knew ot was his. An come to find out it was her manager at work. So I hit the mom up about it an all she says is I m sorry, it was a one night stand, an I couldn t tell you the truth. So I went an got a paternity test done, an now I m just waiting for results. I am still getting depressed. I am 24 at the time if conception I was 19 and I believed the dad was going to help. He has not done anything at all. I can t progress as I need to for her. I thought I could do for her as a single mom but I have no support system. I have had a few mental break downs due to me not feeling adequate enough to parent. I feel my daughter deserves to have a wholesome family who can give her more emotional stability and care than I can. I never imagined not being able to kiss my baby anymore or hug her. I have thought of giving her to a married family member that can t have children so I may still see my daughter although they live in New York and I new England. Hi i'm 20 in community college living in Philadelphia. I work part time but sense I started school again my hours have almost been cut in half. I have a little over $4,000 saved up but would only be making $400 a month till the semester ends in 3 months to set up a better work/school schedule. I am a smoker and that's one of the biggest problems my parent's have because of the smell. I don't smoke in the house but it sticks to clothing. To be honest however we live in a pretty crappy house because my step dad is responsible and doesn't want to spend the money to fix up the dump of a home. No washer or dryer and the house looks like a storage facility with just plain ghetto written all over it. They rarely do any real grocery shopping and I wake up to nothing to eat but what ever i can find and tradition African food that's very greasy. I am a young black male but take pride in comfortable living. What to I do in terms of finances and would it be worth moving. I think so and only need to make the saving work for 3 months then I can have a really decent work schedule. My step dad is Irresponsible.

I am 18 years old and pregnant (39 weeks) My.boyfriend doesn't want to be with me anymore , he's leaving me and his unborn daughter , his mom encouraged him to go live with her ( out of town ) its 4 hours away .. it sucks and it brakes my heart .. I've been in a past terrible relationship and i promised myself i would never be in the situation where i will beg and cry for them to stay regardless there's nothing i can do because he is leaving. I am so hurt and depressed. Ever since I've been a kid my dad has been extremely strict with me. No matter what it is that I would do for better or for worse he would find a way to severely discipline me or make me feel like crap. Growing up as a kid this has hurt my self esteem and took a toll upon my confidence as I can't do anything without feeling it the back of my head that what I'm doing is considered right or wrong. My dad always feels the right to have the final say in any conversation or argument, and he always nurtures his ego with responses he get's from me or his own thought process. He has never wanted to admit hes wrong and always tries bashing against my intelligence saying that my brain cant even think straight. I was on my computer,have probably been on for about 55 minutes now, and I was eating watermelon. When i finished eating i put the plate in the sink, soaked it with some water but did not fully clean it. My father started yelling at me telling me I wont clean it because of my stupid computer and how it wont give me a second to wash it completely. I simply told him " this is the first time I've ever done so" and he just goes off at me. He says how i have a egoist personality and I only care about myself yet he is the one yelling at me not giving me a chance to speak and trying to explain to me that my way of thinking is stupid and inferior to his, while trying to have the last ******* word telling me not to speak. I really need help with this from anyone I cant handle it alone.

Most of the time at night my mom has a "few" glasses of wine. It's one of two things every night, she gets really angry and tries to leave the house(too bad I take the keys before the night even starts) or she just acts really odd and I find her sleeping in random places. Tonight I found her sitting in one of our rolling chairs and when I woke her up it was around 1:20 ish and I told her "hey you seem really tired, let's get up and go to bed." Then she proceeded to point at the bag of chips she had eaten earlier and said, "you see your sister right there, she's the one who needs to go to bed, I just ignore that type of thing but it really bugs me. Whenever I try to confront her about it, she either says, "it's good for my health" or "I've been really stressed out" and then she gets really defensive with me. I would really like a solution to stop this. PS: We have just recently lost my grandpa, on my mothers side, and I'm very sensitive to her when she needs to talk about it. I'm not calling my mom a drunk, I'm just tired of having to treat my mom as if she is a baby at night.

Okay so I'm 18 years old and I'm planning on sneaking out and going to a party with 2 other friends. My mom is super conservative and would never allow me to hang out after 11. We're planning on going around 1-2 am after my mom goes to sleep. My older sister doesn't really wanna cover for me in case my mom wakes up but I doubt that will happen because after my mom sleeps she doesn't wake up to check up on us. My mom is not a good mom in fact she's really just a drug addict but she gave birth to my little sister 3 weeks ago and she failed the drug test at the hospital so CPS took her away. She's currently in foster care but they're trying to place somewhere within the family. I've thought about this a lot and I've been on my own since I was 17 and I'm almost 19. I have a great job, my own place, and I'm in school, and would have a babysitter her when needed. I don't want a baby and I'm not going to try and have a baby if this doesn't work out but I'm trying to save my sister from growing up with strangers in a corrupted system. Well it's no secret my dad is a raging achoholic.. Unfortunately. ): along with a few other family members. Anyways when my dad gets drunk with is almost a all the time thing he either gets annoying or mean. He's never hurt me or any of my other siblings or my mother but he's just so annoying! At first it was a funny thing but now I just hate it. He's says dumb things and he's always yelling just being loud and it gives me the biggest headache. I've lent my brother over two thousand dollars, and recently I had to cover for him becasue I got myself in a financial predicament because of him, and how to cover another two hundred dollars. Now I don't make much, and he thinks he's better then me and can save more, yet I'm the one paying for his mistakes. I have no money because of him. I just want him to pay the two hundred back, but he won't. He always argues and throws insults at me. He also tries to throw his size at me, he's over twice my weight, and I'm not exaggerating. I'm a pretty skinny guy with a tiny bit of muscle, but he's well for lack of better words overweight, and a couple inches taller. He has temper issues as well. He's made a hole in the wall at least twice. He's also threatened me multiple times in the past. He also lies and denies many of the loans I made, and calls me a liar. I only have documented a few on notes in my phone. He puts words in my mouth that I never said as well. He's calling me the b itch It was cumulative it wasn't all at once, I let a hundred here a hundred there twenty here etc, and he doesn't wan to pay I really need the money to move out and get away from my family. He's also not very intelligent as he can't seem to comprehend me telling him how I'm not financially irresonsible because I covered him for what he was supposed to pay and says that I'm the irresponsible one. sorry for the run on

Well I kind of have an "odor" problem since I was thirteen and I ve used countless deodorants over the last four years. I really don t know why the odor happens because I try my best to my take care of myself with perfume and body sprays. My mom always tells me to put on deodrant like almost everyday, to the point she might compare to other girls, commenting how they shower up to three times a day. She then always brings me down by saying the odor problem is why I don t have a boyfriend or many friends, even to the point she said I may not get married. I m very sensitive and all of this has had one emotional toll on me so far as I m currenlty a senior and it s just overwhelming. She s even told the doctor that I smell bad and now they re prescribe me a doeodrant. The one I use right now works but she claims it doesn t. I can t even talk to her or tell her things without her bringing up this issue. She always cusses me and now I don t even want to talk to her anymore. I don t know what to do.

Okay so I talked with my mom about going to visit my grandmother, who has cancer and was given 6 months max to live. She offered to pick me up early in the morning to take the drive to go see her. I told my dad what I was doing, and he just says OK. Later on, I hear him close his door and talks with my brother in secret about his feelings. Then later, he calls me into his room and tells me that what I'm doing is disrespecting him. When I ask how, he says how I didn't discuss it with him before making the decision (He then tries to tell me we always discuss where we're going with him, which is an obvious lie. We do the same thing as I did earlier. Just tell him where we're going). Then he says I'm being inconsiderate to his feelings, which honestly I'm surprised he has to bring up. Now to begin with, my mom's boyfriend is going to be driving us there, whom my Dad hates with every inch in his body. I understood that for many years and I even used to tag along in the hate when I was younger. But I made this decision to see my Grandma, not to spend time with Mom's bf. I told him that, and he still thinks just the fact I'll be in the same car as someone he hates is disrespecting him. I've stood by my dad and hated my moms bf for years. Hell, I still don't like him, for my own personal reasons (My dad hates him solely for the fact that my mom left him for this guy, who's admittedly a huge downgrade compared to my father). But is this whole being disappointed thing reasonable??
