Question: Can you "ohh" and "aww" too much over a friend's baby? Posted: 02 Jun 2018 05:01 PM PDT Our couple friends had a baby we got to meet today, and it's the first friends we have that have a baby. I couldn't get enough of the baby; she was so cute, and happy, and clearly smart. Are the parents likely happy or at least fine with this, because they are proud to have such an amazing baby, or was it rude to be distracted by baby? |
Question: Help making friends in neighborhood? Posted: 02 Jun 2018 04:57 PM PDT Hi! So it's summer and everyone is out of school. I have 0 friends and I don't have past friends to reconnect with. There aren't after school type clubs or parks where I live. There are kids in the neighborhood I live in. They usually are outside playing basketball or the one rides around on a motor bike. They seem nice but I have no way of meeting them. I thought maybe I should ask to play basketball with them but I suck at basketball and don't know how to play very well either. Also they are just playing in the road, not a public court. My parents aren't friends with the kids parents so they can't introduce me. Is there anyway I could meet them naturally? Would asking to play basketball and failing to dribble the ball be the best course of action? I'm just asking how to meet complete strangers that I don't run into naturally. I'm a now a freshman by the way. They are similar in age. Any help would be appricated ty!!! |

Question: How do I cut out a toxic friend? Posted: 02 Jun 2018 01:27 PM PDT I have a "best friend" that I really don't like anymore. She is always making me feel stupid and worthless, and I just hate anything she does. Yet, I have no idea what to do about her. I don't know when, where, or how to talk to her about it. My actual best friend and I want to stop being friends with her but I don't want to wait until school starts up again. Also, I still have to see her at the bus stop and possibly in my classes next year and I would rather stop being friends with her now then wait for school to start again. Thank you so much for helping me because she makes me feel so terrible and I need it to stop. |
Question: I'm really suffering from this depression. I can't live anymore? Posted: 02 Jun 2018 01:23 PM PDT I'm being EXTREMELY serious. This is NOT a joke. I sincerely want to die right now. 22 years is more than enough years to live. I want to be dead. I want someone or something to just viciously kill me. Lately, I've been really suffering from depression. It goes on and off, but the depression frequently comes and when it comes, it's really bad. I feel absolutely worthless, meaningless and I feel like I have no purpose in life. I don't hate God, but I'm VERY Angry with Him. I feel like he favours some people and wants people to have success and then wants people to fail and God wants me to fail and be unhappy. Recently, I've been EXTREMELY jealous of Madonna. I feel like if I can't be Madonna, then there is no point of living to me. If Madonna dies, then it would be a globally big deal, but if I die, no one would give 2 ******* shits. I'm just a poor, ugly stupid bigger and Madonna is a legendary beloved pop star. I'm gonna commit suicide. I can't live anymore. I've tried always contacting Suicide Hotline, but they don't help at all. They just keep telling me the same ****. They don't help with my sadness at all. I don't belong on this Earth. Can someone just please kill me!!! :'( My entire existence means nothing 😟😭😭 |
Posted: 02 Jun 2018 01:18 PM PDT I've been going to the same gym for 10 years and know most of the regulars by name. One regular (and his husband) disappeared. The regular could be a good career contact for me, so I connected with him on LinkedIn and asked how he was. He's very outgoing, and he immediately gave me his and his husband's cell phone numbers and email addresses, invited me to their home in a LGBQT-friendly neighborhood and wants to set up dinner and drinks with him and his husband. I was just looking to connect with him on LinkedIn and maybe grab a drink for a business-oriented conversation once. Also, I'm straight. I have no interest in spending time in their LGBQT-friendly home. (Search online for "Top LGBQT Towns" or the like, and the location of their vacation home will come up.) He and his husband are moving away next year, and they had quit the gym because they are in the process of moving. How to dial this back without offending? Thanks. |
Question: My friend made double plans. I’m I wrong to be mad? Posted: 02 Jun 2018 12:22 PM PDT So my friends and I have the day off and we planned to spend all day together but last night she told me she was actually going to go hang with another friend early in the day and meet me later tonight. I'm pretty upset because we planned to spend all day together. Of course I'm going to go out until we meet but I'm a bit upset at how inconsiderate her planning is. |
Question: Is it possible to like someone but not be compatible? Posted: 02 Jun 2018 12:20 PM PDT I had a friend whom we both liked each other a lot at first then realized we were not compatible as friends. She was very introverted Which was a big deal and didn't think it would be. I still like her and miss her but was never happy in the friendship does this make sense? |
Question: How do you form friendships in your 20s? Posted: 02 Jun 2018 11:29 AM PDT I'm 21, soon to be 22, and have almost no friends these days because my high school and college friends have moved away, went to a far away college, or are busy working and other adult-related responsibilities. I have tried volunteering, starting a youth group, joining groups and organizations, but because the city I live in has become gentrified into a high-priced, bedroom community meant for people to settle down, there are almost no young people in their 20s here (generally I meet people age 30+). The average cost of a house in my area is $250 - 300k, apartments for rent are at least $1.2k monthly, and my city is under 5 square miles with barely any jobs, so most residents commute. I understand that I may have to leave the area to meet people, as this isn't an ideal economic or social environment for young people to prosper (unless they're rich or privileged), but I can't leave until I finish my bachelor's and save for a down payment for a house (at least that's my preferred form of housing). My family is also very small and loose knit, so at home I only have 2 family members to spend time, and they both have full time work/school. Any suggestions? Is it typical for adults to have a hard time forming friendships? Thank you in advance. Loneliness doesn't kill me - I just miss having bonds and experiencing life with others. |
Question: Should I ask her...? Posted: 02 Jun 2018 11:12 AM PDT I'm leaving 11th grade soon. I took AP Chem this year, and for 2nd semester I was assigned a new lab partner, Erin. We often go to each other's houses to work on projects. She's really snarky and competitive. She gets stressed out easily. In the beginning she couldn't stand me. But the more we hung out the more she seemed to grow fond of me. Now when she's tired (which is often) she'll sleep on my shoulder or sit in my lap. I don't think she's use to having regular guy friends, but we've started talking about other things. Like what bands we listen to, where we're applying to college. She sometimes vents to me about bullies and exes, who pick on her for being on honor roll, for wearing glasses. Stupid stuff. I found out she smokes pot, to help her relax. She got defensive at first but I wasn't judging, I told her I'd never tried it and asked if I could, so we shared the joint. We listened to music and went out to sit in the hot tub. I gave her a shoulder massage. While stoned, she talked about being self conscious with her body, mainly her massive boobs. She always wears flannels and jeans, and never shows off skin, so it was definitely a bonding experience. She doesn't seem embarrassed by that day either. We still talk and work together like nothing happened. So, the school year is ending on monday though. I kind of want to keep in contact with Erin, maybe hang out over summer. Any advice for how to make that happen? How to approach her? Do you think she'd even want to? |

Question: Should I be embarrassed that I got schooled in a dance off? Posted: 02 Jun 2018 07:26 AM PDT My neighbor and I had a disagreement, so he thought the best way to settle it was with a dance off. I got schooled by him in front of a crowd of people. |

Question: Should I hang out with him? Posted: 02 Jun 2018 06:56 AM PDT (This is a conversation I recently had with a guy, he and I met where he works. He gave me his number in September he eventually called me we talked on the phone once. But we've been talking on Facebook since then. And he's asked me to hang out with him a few times. But we are both busy and we've been trying to hang out for awhile now. I'm not looking for anything serious I just want to be friends with him.) Me: I've been dreaming about you lately. I miss seeing you lol. Him:What are you doing tomorrow? Me:I'm still in school until next month and then I have a break. I'm sorry to bother you I'm just having a hard time right now. Talking to you helps me feel better. Is it the KLC theatre that you like to go to? Him:Usually the one one on Appleview street Me:I bought you a birthday card I'll bring it to you. Him:Oh you shouldn't have. I didn't get you one Me:It doesn't matter it's a friendly gesture. Him:Well waddya know Me:Are you into experimenting? Him:How so? Me:Anything that's unusual or erotic. I like the idea of kinky stuff. There's a lot of things I think about. Sorry I'm kind of weird lol. Will you meet me at the movies? The one on 15 mile. I'll let you know a date and time. Him:That's not weird at all. Everyone has their kinks. You need to let me know exactly what you're into, to see if I'd be into it, though. And sure, I'll meet you at the movies, but I'm workin 3 jobs, so I'll have to see if I can go the day you're planning. |

Question: Why do middle schoolers tend to be so cruel to each other? Posted: 01 Jun 2018 09:23 PM PDT My brother is in 7th grade. The girls in his class are horrible to each other. It was the exact same thing when I was a middle schooler. Lots of people had a hard time in middle school. Gossiping, bullying, threats and fights were so common. Also, it seems like lots of bullying suicides revolve around the 12-14 years old age group too. Even parents and teachers complain about this stage in life! They get exhausted more easily about how "hard" it is to raise a pre-teen, especially girls. How their once sweet easygoing child suddenly changed into a rude, dramatic and frustrated person. In elementary and high schools, you don't tend to see as many people with those attitudes. What's with middle school that makes young people behave like this? |
Question: Lost my best friend? Going on for months but I can’t get over it.? Posted: 01 Jun 2018 07:12 PM PDT Me and my best friend were so close. I've never thought we wouldn't split up. We got so close and i was such a good friend to her. I was so close with her family too they were like my second family. I was always over their house. I love her parents we were all just so close. I would even go to the grandparents house too if they invited me. Our friend got into an argument with me and got my best friend involved and she just stopped talking to me because of all the drama that was going on. But it went too long and I didn't care at the moment but now it's reallt coming back to me and I miss her to the point where I have dreams about me and her reuniting (I know it sounds weird lmao but that's how close we were) and I just wish stuff went back to normal. I dontt know if I should just text her? I don't know what to do. I want to be friends with her again. High school ruined us :( |
Posted: 01 Jun 2018 07:00 PM PDT is this enough to say she likes me? A girl from another school is very bubbly, and smiley around me but I think she is like that around everybody she is touchy and feely with other guys she knows well. She does Pay me compliments more than other people from what I observe and I am the only guy she pays compliments to. Walked past me said "Hi John" with a smirk. Lastly, kept on looking behind 2 times to look at me then once I caught her and we made eye contact for a second she stopped. In a way tried to find ways to talk to me by listening into my conversations and responding to what I say as if directed towards her and she smiles. When other people talked to me she listened and responded to me. She noticed when I glasses and told me she didn't know I wear glasses. I gave the heart symbol with my hands and she did it back and smirked. I am not sure if this is personality but I have a gut feeling. I sent her a friend request on Facebook. Accepted it half an hour later, liked a picture I shared of my parents (mom is a widow) then unliked the picture. Thanks in advance. Part of me thinks she doesn't I don't see her much. Not sure if it is just personality. ☆ Sent from iOS Dr. Know! 1.1.04 |
Question: Why is she giving me the cold shoulder????? Posted: 01 Jun 2018 06:03 PM PDT Theres this girl at work who I've liked since I met her in January, but she is married. I'm only 23 and shes 34, my friend told her a while ago that I have a big crush on her, and she was very surprised and flattered at the same time.. Everything was fine between us and sometimes she would make sexual jokes about me... we would talk for a bit when we saw each other around work, She even told one of my friends that I'm super attractive, But nothing can happen between us because shes married. And I obviously respect the fact that shes married... on Sunday was her birthday and I messaged her wishing her a happy birthday on Facebook. But I noticed today she deleted me on Facebook, and she was acting weird around me Yesterday and I dont know why. What could be going on?????? Why did she delete me on Facebook????????? I never said anything inappropriate to her |
