Question: My parents won’t let me go far away for college?!? Posted: 14 Jun 2018 12:52 PM PDT I'm 17, turning 18 in a couple months from California. I absolutely hate this state simply because of how expensive it is. I'm already applying for schools in Texas and various places along the East Coast, mid west, and Alaska. I've lived in CA my whole life and this place is a hell hole. Overly liberal policies have destroyed this place. Also recently, CA has been ranked as the state with the worst quality of life in all of America. However, my family is saying they won't let me go away and they've been trying to guilt trip me into not doing so because then I'd be "abandoning the family." At this point, I am so sick of it because when the time comes, I'm ready to just pack and leave whether or not they like it. I don't know what else to do. Help is appreciated. |
Question: My grandpa passed away 8 days ago and I can't stop crying? Advice? Posted: 14 Jun 2018 12:36 PM PDT My grandpa passed away 8 days ago at 85. He fought during Korean war and was a navy cross recipient. After the war he went into hardware and had a hardware store and then he retired. I was born in 1995. I was lucky to have him until now and I was lucky to have known such a person, not because the award. He wasn't a hero to me because of that,he was a hero to me because he raised 3 children, was a good husband, father and grandfather. I still can't believe he's gone and that I won't see him anymore. I'm a mess,I've been crying non stop for days. Every wake moment I feel I wanna cry. I wish I would've told him I loved him,I wish I would've hugged him even if he wasn't the type of person who hugs. He may have appeared cold sometimes on the surface as he was the one you picture when you think about Marines but he deeply cared about his friends and family. I think he applied "Semper fidelis" also to his family and friends. In a world full of evil people he always knew what the right thing to do was or how to act. His death.. I just didn't see it coming . Apparently he had a heart attack and boom,he's no longer here.. I just don't know what to do, my gf tried to confort me,so my dad and so my friends but it hurts so much. Any help? I feel so much guilty for not spending the day more time with him his last day |
Question: I’m adopted, should my parent do this to me? Posted: 14 Jun 2018 09:19 AM PDT Like the title said... I am adopted. Throughout my childhood I would see 2 letters in the mail come every month. One would say my mothers name and the other one would say my mothers name and then "for [insert my name]". They both looked the same. She would NEVER let me see them or even read them. Like I said... "FOR [insert my name]". I'm very sure one was FOR ME but she ALWAYYS says it's not. Well... let me get to the point. I am now 17 , soon to be 18 in August ,and I FINALLY got to read the letter , without her knowing. It says "child's benefits will be terminated unless disabled or in secondary school blah blah blah". I am her only adopted child of course. I didn't want to believe it , I always had a feeling she was lying to me ... but I want to be sure before I fully confront her and express myself. Is their a possibility, one of the checks with my name on it ,that she would get , were for me? It really upsets me having that idea in my head , I would rarely ever celebrate my birthday , i would always have to stay in the house , I rarely ever got DECENT clothes , and would only get new shoes like once every year. I wouldn't be bothered if she just told me, but I'm sure she's lying to me about something. |

Question: What should I do to escape? Posted: 14 Jun 2018 06:59 AM PDT I am 24, turning 25 in December. I feel like I am in a cocoon. When nobody is home but my youngest sister, who is 9 or 10 idk, I have to look after her. I can't go out and explore myself. I can't go out and work and make money. I want to make money and move out. I feel like my family is very toxic. I don't want anything to do with my parents or my siblings. I know I am adult and I have free choices. My mother said I can work in 2 weeks when my adult sister is back. So she can watch the youngest sister. But why do we have to look after her? I mean, she's above age 8 so she can stay home alone. |
Question: Should I have the responsibility of driving older parent for household errands? Posted: 14 Jun 2018 06:54 AM PDT I drove my mother & father for 2 years to doctors appointments, errands, etc. Mother had chemo. She was in & out of hospital for 2 years. I also drove my father 45 days straight for radiation treatments + other appts. My father calls for a ride to pick out and buy floor tile from the hardware store 12 miles away. The project started 3 days ago. I have 2 grown adult brothers who live at the house with him. It is their house - - rent free. I have my own family & household. Should one of the brothers drive him to the store after work? Or should that also be my responsibility? |
Question: I'm 25 and parents still try to control me, why? Posted: 14 Jun 2018 05:54 AM PDT I am grown up, I live alone have my own responsibilities etc...however last Summer at my grandmothers funeral something happened. I got ready on time and everything and met my parents in their hotel room on time as I was told. My sister who is older and quite spoiled says "Ugh, do your hair!" Okay, for one it's fine the way it is. That's just me, it didn't look bad just somewhat messy so what? So then my Mom not wanting to upset my sister who always tends to get her way says "HONEY HAVE YOUR SISTER DO YOUR HAIR" And so my sister just spikes up the front which already looks quite stupid since my hair was somewhat long. Like I'm some kind of 9 year old. I really just don't understand, why does my family do this? Is it because I'm the youngest? I don't like drama so I just went with it and dealt with it. However, once we got to the funeral I went to the bathroom and messed it up again (haha) my sister was furious. I'm a guy not a woman. |
Question: How to stop your mom from being a “cool mom”? Posted: 14 Jun 2018 04:41 AM PDT My mom has always been more of a friend than a mom. Every time I bring friends over she hangs out with us. Believe me I don't mind but she's an manipulative alcoholic. Whenever we all drink she becomes horny and ****. I'm 18 and she's hooked up with 4 of my friends already (2male 2 female) age 21,20,25 and 20. it's sort of embarrassing but they all like her and I don't want to be THAT friend that takes her away from them. What should I do? btw i'm not trolling i have proof |
Question: My daughter cursed at me...? Posted: 14 Jun 2018 04:41 AM PDT She was livid,I'm not kidding!! I'm getting kind of "use to" her outbursts, usually directed at her kids, she's had them for years. but cussing at her own mother!!? Heres what happened..we were eating in the living room me eating on a tv tray, and i accidentally spilled one spaghetti noodle ON THE TRAY. As soon as she saw it she had a cow!! Ok so it was her house,,,she's 35,I'm 62.. She had a healthy and happy childhood. This is so embarrassing but i need. to know what may be going on with her |
Posted: 14 Jun 2018 04:35 AM PDT I'm getting married. My parents and most of my family won't be coming. See I'm a white girl marrying a black dude and they don't like that. Only one of my five siblings will be there. My Mom in an email called me disgusting for marrying a monkey and called me a disgrace to the entire family. I think her boss and employees as well as her Facebook friends need to know her hate |
Question: How to stop my sister from being such a ***** in the morning? Posted: 14 Jun 2018 03:58 AM PDT This is also kind of a roommate situation because we share a room. My sister is vile in the morning. First of all, she doesn't get up until the last possible minute, all the while having like 10 alarms go off and keeping me up. I have a job after school and work late and so I'm still trying to sleep while she's getting ready (no early morning classes for me). She refuses to prepare any of her clothes or her bag the night before, and so every morning she's running around the room, slamming the door multiple times, and flipping the overhead light on and off. And sometimes she leaves the room without turning it off and I have to get up to do it myself. Then I'm up and can't get back to sleep, on less than 6 hours of sleep several times a week. If I so much as ask her to be quick with using the light in the morning she goes off on me or is infuriatingly passive aggressive about it, and if I bring it up in the afternoon instead, she says she will and then keeps doing the same thing. Mom won't intervene, and I'm at a loss. Any suggestions, from a roommate and/or sibling point of view? |
Question: How can my identical twin sister and I switch places so well that we won't get caught? Posted: 14 Jun 2018 03:14 AM PDT My twin sister and I have never switched places because we always thought we would get caught. However since we have wanted to do this since we were little kids, we figured now is the time to do it. So how can we pull off a switch where we won't have to worry about getting caught? A little info about us is we are twenty one and we share an apartment. We will be hanging out with a group of friends this weekend so we figured it would be a good time to try this. Like I said only problem is we have never done this. Can we please get some tips? |
Question: When will my luck ever change ? Posted: 14 Jun 2018 02:36 AM PDT Something happened a few years ago that made me lose everything and since that I've not been able to fix my losses, it's like I've been cursed because everytime I try to stand again something kicks me back down 'for fun'. my car I've owned for 3 months got stolen 2 nights ago, I had a crash in my previous car causing that one to be ruined I got stabbed in the arm before The mother of my child cheated on me My siblings that are supposed to live with my mum got taken away My other sister whose okder got robbed with a samurai sword 70 miles away from where I was so I had to go there A family friend got murdered and I lost my great Nan in the same week Etc there's tonnes and tonnes more which would let someone know that somethings not right but I'm asking does anyone think my bad luck is my fault, can anyone think of anything I could be doing wrong etc, I'm only 22 and this is causing me mental illness |
Question: HELP! Give me ideas? Posted: 13 Jun 2018 08:41 PM PDT How can I hangout with people without my parents knowing where I am, who I'm with, or what I'm doing? (They're overprotective and I'm usually a homebody so they'll think it's suspicious that I all of a sudden wanna go out) |
Question: Do I need to tell my sons why they have never seen their grandfather? Posted: 13 Jun 2018 05:38 PM PDT My dad molested me and my sister. When my mom found out he was arrested and he went to prison. I haven't talk to him since the day I broke down at 9 and told my mom and my teacher that my dad did tis to me. Now almost 30 years later I have 2 sons. They are 17 and 13. My husband knows what happened. My in laws (MIL and FIL) know what happened. But I have never told my sons. However, my sons have asked both me and my mom many times about him and my mom and I agreed to say "He was a bad person and is no longer in our life" However, my 17 year old wants to find him and asked me if he could search for him using social media. I am positive he is probably already doing it even though he said he isnt. Should I set them down and tell them? I think I have withheld it because even after almost 30 years I still feel a sense of shame about it. I fear my sons will look at e differently. But I do not want him to be connected to them or even know they exist. Any advice? |
Question: Father wants me to save money.? Posted: 13 Jun 2018 05:12 PM PDT My father wants me to save money because he thinks that $300 of $400 we pay a month on electricity is because of me being upstairs. I don't believe him. I don't want to be downstairs in an office with gnats flying into my eyes, nose, ears, etc. during the day. I don't have any proof that he is wrong about this calculation. Help! |
Question: Is abnormal not to enjoy being a mom? Posted: 13 Jun 2018 04:41 PM PDT I love and care for kids but I am not close to my two, a son and daughter. I have tried to be close but it just isn't there. Does that make me a bad mom? I hid this for so many years.. |
Question: Do I have travel anxiety? Posted: 13 Jun 2018 02:55 PM PDT My high school reunion is coming up and I was notified that we're going on a cruise. When I think about this my heart immediately starts racing. I'm not like the rest of my class mates who got the opportunity to go to college in a different country or jet set across the world every chance they get. I'm a quiet introvert, and I just enjoy being in the comfort of my own home. I don't travel. And since I don't, I don't know half of what is expected. I guess I'm also afraid of the unknown and I'm also embarrassed, because I assume at the age of 25 I should know the basics of how to travel. But sometimes I think it's genetic my parents don't travel either. How do you learn to travel? What do you do? How do you go about it. I have a passport but no visa. |
Question: Any tips to get used to being shirtless? Posted: 13 Jun 2018 12:56 PM PDT I am a 24 year old guy and have never taken my shirt off in front of anyone. I have been taking my shirt off in front of my parents for the last week, but it still feels awkward. I want to stop being so shy about my body; My parents tell me I'm skinny and shouldn't be embarrassed, but I still am. |
Posted: 12 Jun 2018 09:05 PM PDT I'm a girl. I was told from somebody else that my mom embarrassed me and told the lady that we were going to live with that I have a mental disability, even before the lady even met me? I don't have a mental disability, I guess mo mom thinks I do. Why was it so important for my mom to tell her this? So that she wouldn't act a certain way or be too nice or friendly with me, because I might develop a crush? We didn't end up living with her, anyway. |
