Question: What would you do in this situation? Posted: 13 Jun 2018 05:41 PM PDT My best friend and roommate had one of our friends stay with us for over three weeks. She did her laundry, took showers, ate our food etc. When she left, we asked her if she would pay us $100 ($50 for each of us) because our utilities bill was so much. She got angry, saying that was unfair and a lot of money considering it wasn't for that long. We're all college students, so it's not like we're all rolling in money. Should she have to pay or is it unfair of us to even ask? |

Question: Why did I get punished for this? Posted: 13 Jun 2018 03:44 PM PDT So two days ago I decided to pull a prank on my friend. I made a batch of brownies and in half of the tray I put a whole bottle of laxatives. Later that day I had my friend come over. He ate 3 which 2 were on the laxative side. A few hours goes by and he feels sick. He was on my toilet for 30 minutes before he excused himself home. The next day he told he he was on the toilet at home for 3 hours and he had stomach pain all night. I decided to come clean and I told him. He hung up the phone. When my dad came home he grounded me for 2 weeks in my room and only come out for meals. I asked why and he said my friend told him. I can't beleive my friend snitched like that. I didn't deserve to get punished, especially since summer just started for me. It was a prank. What should I do? |

Question: How to be confident and outgoing with strangers? Posted: 13 Jun 2018 02:53 PM PDT I am going to a language camp in France for 2 weeks and I'm gonna be around a lot of teenagers I don't know. I'm pretty shy around the people who know I'm already shy (most students at school), but I want to change my reputation at this camp. I want to make friends quickly and have them never know I was a shy person in the first place. What are some tips for doing this? I'm always overthinking things and only my best friend knows my true, crazy self. I'm afraid I have this big idea of being outgoing and showing who I really am, but when I get there I won't actually go through with it. |
Posted: 13 Jun 2018 02:08 PM PDT Till 25 she is completely alone. What is wrong? She is highly intelligent and women dont befriend her. |
Posted: 13 Jun 2018 01:22 PM PDT I have always been the least confrontational person in the world but I'm getting sick of this. One of my friends from high school (were 25 now) has become such a selfish friend. Whenever we plan on going out together I always pick her up but when it's her turn to drive she makes me get an Uber to her house. We live like less than 5 mins from each other and it pisses me off. I feel like I do more for her than what she does for me but she doesn't see it like that. And the few times I've told her like she acts like I'm forcinh her to go out of her way to do the smallest nice things. She's one of my best friends so I don't know if I should just tell her how I'm feelong or just stop doing stuff for her when I know she wouldn't do something back for me, but then like what's the point of being "friends" if we're going eye to eye for the dumbest things. |

Question: Best friend concerns.? Posted: 13 Jun 2018 12:05 PM PDT So my best friend has always been very Liberal and progressive. Perhaps even more so than myself on some issues. However recently she has been sympathizing with Trump supporters and it is concerning me, and I'm not sure how our friendship will get through something as big as her actually being one of them.. This is a friendship I have had since high school, and we have been through so much stuff together. It's very important to me and I would not want anything to come between us, but if she turns out to be a Trump supporter then there's no possible way I could be her friend. What should I do? Should I ask her outright? and if she outs herself as a Trump supporter should I cut ties with her, or try and persuade her to see sense? |

Question: Why does this girl in our friendship group keep comparing herself to me? Posted: 13 Jun 2018 10:59 AM PDT So there is this girl who I work with and I'm now in a friendship group with her and a few other girls. The first time I met her, she said 'no offence, but you kind of sound like you are from private school' and said 'if I could imagine what it would be like to go to private school, I would imagine people who looked like you' On a separate occasion she said 'you look like you could be royal, or belong to a royal family and I'm like a pig' She keeps mentioning this to me all the time too, that I look dress and act like a royal. She said to me 'I wish I could be like you and carry myself the way you carry yourself, it's doing my head in.' And she also said 'I wish I was like you and looked nice all the time and fresh faced' She also said 'you look great in glasses and I look like an idiot' Why does she keep comparing herself to me? |
Question: What does my dad mean by this? Posted: 13 Jun 2018 10:10 AM PDT I had friends over for the weekend and he asked me I had a nice time I replied "yes I miss them I cried when they left" My dad replied "hi Sophie thats touching x" |
Question: My best friend was raped yesterday and she won't tell the police? Posted: 13 Jun 2018 06:36 AM PDT I don't know all the grizzly details because obviously I didn't want to know in great depth what happened but I do know that my best friend was hanging out with a guy she's been friends with for a really long time and they got to the point where he forced her into sex that she didn't want. I told her that she needs to tell the police because it isn't right and he isn't allowed to do that to her but she said that she doesn't want to because he knows lots of people who she lives near and he'd undoubtedly tell them and they'd turn on her and make her life hell ( a lot of them are assholes she's been involved with or just plain dickheads that will not be sympathetic- Tadley is still very sexist). I don't know what she should do, she's moving to Kent in 3 weeks time so I told her to wait until she's about to leave and then tell the police so that she can get away from it all but then there could be complications that make her stay and also leaving her with it lingering in her mind might not be the best idea for her own mental health. What do i do? |
Question: Are all high school guys like this? Posted: 13 Jun 2018 06:32 AM PDT I am the only girl in my AP Calculus class. My classmates are all my friends and are great guys. We have a lot of home work so we sometimes gather at someone's house and do our homework together. This time it was my house. After we completed the homework, my mom served all the guys fresh homemade apple pie and ice cream. They loved it. We usually rotate whose house we go to for doing the homework. However the guys ask me if we could go to my house again for the homework. That is OK with me. I just thought they liked the pie and ice cream my mom made for them. Then one of the guys told me the real reason they wanted to come to my house. When mom served them pie and ice cream she wore her Daisy Dukes. Are all high school guys like this that they are horny for someone twice their age? |
Question: Is it weird for a guy to have more female friends than guy friends? Posted: 13 Jun 2018 02:55 AM PDT I have far more female friends than guy friends. I find that hanging hanging with a bunch of guys can tend to be annoying. They can be rude and obnoxious. My women friends are less likely to be rude and make fun of me. |
Posted: 13 Jun 2018 01:45 AM PDT I mean let's face it, people in today's world largely suck. They lie, cheat, steal, and betray others just to get what they want, with seemingly no remorse. They smile in your face, pretending to be your friend, but then when they want something, or they've already gotten what they want out of you, they either stab you in the back, or just dump you. So what is the point of being a good and selfless person, somebody who looks out for others and not just himself, when too many people are all too willing to take advantage of that? |

Question: Isn't that strange??? Why can't he learn English when he already knows French?? Posted: 12 Jun 2018 09:08 PM PDT My friend is Italian. He speaks Italian and he also speaks French very well, but he can only say a few simple sentences in English such as "My name's ...", "Hello. How are you?" and so on. Isn't that strange? |
Posted: 12 Jun 2018 09:05 PM PDT I was talking a friend of mine. When she was a kid in the 80s, she was getting bullied. Her grandma, who raised her, said she should stick up for herself. Told her to answer back if other kids said mean things, and taught her how to punch. One time she was crying around the house because kids were bullying her. Her grandma said "No grand-daughter of mine will let herself be bullied." She had to bend over the couch and get a spanking with a belt. She then had no dinner, and was sent to bed. Her grandma said if she ever got bullied again and didn't stick up for herself, she would get another spanking. My friend said this was very good for her, and made her tough. From then on, she hit back and stood up the kids who were mean to her. She knew if she didn't, not only would she be bullied, but her grandma would spank her at home. She says this kind of super tough love is the correct way to handle bullying. She says spank your kids for getting bullied... Sounds disgusting and mean to me, but she swears by it. What do you think? |
Question: How to fix things with my new friends? Posted: 12 Jun 2018 08:06 PM PDT Next year I'll be a sophomore in college and I'm living with 3 other girls. These girls are already really close friends with each other. When we found out we were living together they were really nice and invited me to dinner and we pre-gamed and went to a few parties together. But the last time we went to a party I messed up. I got accidently got way too drunk. I made a fool of myslef and was too loud and oversharinf iformation and I embarrassed myself with this guy they know. I didn't remember what happened the next morning but they filled me in over text. I apologized a lot and no one said anything like "it's ok" and it's hard to interpret if they were angry though text. We never went out again after that. They did invite me out again but when it was time to go out they didn't respond (but I saw on snap that it ended up being one of their friend's birthday and I think they got really high, so I can undersdandwhy they wouldn't respond) I just worry this means they don't want to be friends anymore. They stopped inviting me to parties though I did see one at a party and when I went up to her and said hi, she hugged me but maybe she just didn't want to be rude. Do you think I'm reading into things too much or do they not like me anymore? I really want us to be friends and I guess I just want reassurance that everything is fine between us all but there is nothing really I can do until the end of summer when we go back to school. Any advice??? |
Question: A spanking for getting bullied? It sounds horrific.? Posted: 12 Jun 2018 07:28 PM PDT A friend of mine said she was getting bullied when she was 8 years old. Her grandmother told her she had to learn to stick up for herself and be tough. Her grandma said the next time I another child insulted her, she should say something back, and the next time another child hit her, she should hit back. Her grandma even practiced punching with her on a pillow and taught her how to fight. Then... A few days later she was crying around the house. Her grandma asked why, and she said it was because kids were making fun of her. She still hadn't stood up for herself. Her grandma made her lean over the couch for a spanking with the belt. She said "from now on, if you let other kids push you around, I will spank you." Her grandma said that the spanking was for letting herself be bullied. My friend got no dinner that night and had to go to bed right after her spanking. She said it hurt to sit down the next day. My friend said this was the best thing her grandma ever did for her. From them on, she stood up for herself, knowing that if Grandma found out she was letting herself be bullied, she would get a spanking when she got home. This was back in the 80s when spanking was more common. My friend thinks it was great and it was her grandma showing her really tough love, teaching her to stand up for herself. I think spanking a kid for being bullied is just plain crazy, kids need to love after being bullied. What do you think? Is it a racial division? My friend is Black. I'm white. |
Question: Weird ex friend issue! Please help best answer 10pts!? Posted: 12 Jun 2018 07:05 PM PDT So there was originally 3 of us. Me, Gracie, and Paris. We've all been friends since we were little. Gracie and Paris were friends before I came along though. So as we got older Gracie got more controlling over Paris because she had some psycho idea that I wanted to steal Paris from her. Every time Paris and I hung out by ourselves Gracie would ask me what I was doing (she knew Paris and I were hanging out) and she'd invite herself over. Paris and I could never hang out with just us two because she always needed to supervise us for some odd reason. So she got so controlling that Paris wanted to be done with her so I helped her which ended both of our relationships with her. Paris eventually felt bad and decided to be friends with her again after a few months . I Didn't so Gracie got mad and hated me. So 5 years later I thought things were done but apparently not. If she knows I'm someplace she has to find me and talk to be because she thinks that's what the bigger person is supposed to do. It's kinda got to the point of stalking and I'm annoyed. She certainly has head problems, she's barely been told no and she always has to prove herself to everyone. She's pretty psychotic and insecure. I'm just tired of awkward fakey chit chat every place we're both at. How do I get her to leave me alone for good?! |
Question: Do you think I was out of line? Posted: 12 Jun 2018 06:57 PM PDT I met one of my students for math tutoring and she was wearing a diamond ring and I asked her if her boyfriend proposed, how and when.. She looked uncomfortable with my question. Do you think my questions were personal? I have not seen her for a while. She is in her early twenties and I tutored her for 2 months and then we had 2 months break and now I am back to tutoring her. Were my questions out of line? |

Question: Should I end a friendship of almost 10 years? Posted: 12 Jun 2018 06:20 PM PDT A lot of good things have been happening in her life, and I am genuinely so so happy for her. She has moved in with her SO in a good are of town, and she has been traveling, received a promotion, I helped her fiance plan her proposal, I picked out her ring, so everything in her life is going well, but in all of this, she has been kind of putting me on the back burner. She'll either be too busy to make plans with me, or she will make plans and then cancel at the last minute. My mom invited her and her fiance over for dinner once, and she didnt even show up. This has been going on for almost a year. My feelings were hurt, but I decided to just shrug it off, since she has so many things going on, she probably doesn't even realize it. But then, she started making comments, that made me feel so judged in many aspects. She will say things like, "I don't shop at that grocery store or that farmers market, we only eat organic food in my house", or she'll say things implying that the are she lives in now is better than where I live. Kind of like shes competing with me. Also, she is always talking **** about my husband because of things he has done in the past that hurt me and tells me I should leave him, she even said she doesn't want to see him or be around him again. I'm so sad. |
