Question: How to break up my dad and his girlfriend? Posted: 12 Jul 2020 01:45 PM PDT So I know the question I sounds really mean and I seem to be the worst person in the world for asking it but there's a lot of stuff that's lead to this. About three years ago my mother had passed away from complications during surgery so it was something that we didn't really expect would happen. I was 16 at the time so still in high school. We grieved and had our ups and downs but we had lots of support from friends and family. The summer before I went off to college in June my dad had asked me if it would be okay if he started dating again. I was just fine with it, actually wanted someone to be around with my dad when I was away at college because I know what it's like to be alone sometimes... it's not fun. He met this woman named Laura in July and she seemed really nice.I headed off to college and talked to my dad and Laura and everything seemed to go fine with us. I should mention my dad is 46 and she is 40. I come home during spring break and don't go back to college due to COVID. This is when things really start becoming bad. I began to realize that my dad really changed from who he was when I left for college. I can't really add a whole lot more since it's a 1500 word max but right away when I had to stay, he added a huge list of rules with severe punishments if I broke them and has multiple times threatened to kick me out. It's not just me, the rest of our family has really noticed she's changed him. |
Question: Why won't my fiance let me drive his car? Posted: 12 Jul 2020 12:53 PM PDT I HAD a car, and he told me I needed to get rid of it because I had it from before him, and it reminded him that my ex used to sit in it and drive it. He told me that we only needed one car and he would take me wherever I needed to go. So I sold my car, I was hardly driving it anyway. We've been together for just over a year and we are engaged. He absolutely refuses to let me drive his car, even when he's drunk. He will down 3 bourbon and cokes, be clearly intoxicated, and absolutely refuses to let me be a designated driver. He has had countless tickets, and one major accident that totaled his car. I have had zero tickets and zero accidents. He is 26 and I am 29. It's a regular automatic 4 door sedan. I just don't understand why he won't let me drive. My mother is immunocompromised and has not been able to leave her house in months because of COVID19. She needs some Costco shopping done and asked if we could do it. He's only met my mom twice, and they have nothing against one another. He actually asked my mom to pick up two sheet sets for us while her roommate did her costco shopping for her and have us pay her back. Her roommate had a family thing and can't do the shopping for a few weeks.. He absolutely refuses to go, and refuses to let me do the shopping for her. I'm pretty pissed about this. I always thought a marriage was a combination of belongings. My stuff is free for him to use and his is free for me to use when needed. |

Posted: 12 Jul 2020 12:09 PM PDT They are terrified for me to go anywhere or see anyone. Every one else I know is carrying on with their lives with caution taken. My parents won't even let me see family. It is too dangerous. Yet my friends are going to the beach with their families, seeing friends, doing small socials just not any monster parties. While I would not go to a beach right now I want to resume some life. Right now Coronavirus is the only thing discussed and the thing that makes it so I should not leave Mom and Dad's side nor see anyone but us 4 in the house hiding from imminent death. What do I do? How do I rationalize with them to let me live just within some caution. I agree I must be careful, I have a grandmother. At the same time she does not live with us and it is not like I am around her much. Since my mother is she thinks any associating I do with the outside world makes imminent death for Grandma. What do I do? How do I rationalize with them? |
Posted: 12 Jul 2020 12:05 PM PDT He said I would be free to go around these family members I wanted to in the summer but it was one of his lies. At the same time it is a pandemic so I don't feel right holding him as accountable here. Of course I am an adult out on my own so will go anyway but feel lied to again since he got my hopes up. Because it was a lie many of these people might not feel comfortable around me or others. In this instance though should I not count it since while my Dad over promised the Coronavirus is obviously unpredictable? |
Question: My older sister has bullied me my whole life? How can I get her to stop? Posted: 12 Jul 2020 11:58 AM PDT When we were kids she threw knifes at me, kicked me all night in the bed we shared, burned my hand on the grill, told me I came out the oven. When we were teenagers she put me in a headlock until I couldn't breathe and almost chocked to death, slapped me, put up the middle finger at me, told me they poisoned the food that I ordered. We're in our 20s now and she threatens to beat me up, call the police on me to scare me, get me locked in a mental hospital, tells me to kill myself, calls me mentally retarded, yells at me, won't let me turn on the heat when I'm cold, opens the window to make me cold in the winter, comes in my room and just stands there and looks at me and then leaves, comes in my room and farts and then leaves, tells me to leave her alone when I'm not bothering her, tells me to stop harassing her when I'm not, tells everybody I hid somebody in the basement, I'm wishing something bad on her, I'm praying against her, I'm doing witchcraft. She just won't stop. She stops for a minute and then she starts doing it again. Talking to her or my mom about it does nothing. It actually makes it worse. She doesn't care. She hates me. I don't like her either. She's 25 and I'm 23. I know she will move out eventually and blame me for everything and never talk to me again. I don't care. I won't have to deal with her. |
Question: Is my dad irresponsible for knocking up my mom when he was 22? Posted: 12 Jul 2020 11:50 AM PDT He was 21 when he knocked her up while she was 19. They were 22 and 20 when I was born tho. |

Question: My older sister tries to force me to do things and gets her boyfriend to bully me? Posted: 12 Jul 2020 11:34 AM PDT She's been doing this for years. She always tries to force me to do drugs or sexual things and if I don't do it she has this funny look on her face. Also she has got every boyfriend she has had to bully me. She's almost 40 by the way. I'm in my early 20s. I don't really care. I just think it's childish. I don't know why she does this. It makes me uncomfortable. I don't really want to talk to her about it. I just try to ignore it. I didn't really grow up with her so I don't really know her. |
Question: My mom died from cancer I don't know what to do I have nowhere to go? Posted: 12 Jul 2020 11:21 AM PDT No family member will help me. My siblings all got their own place and went their separate ways and left me alone. I just don't know what to do. I'm still in our old family home. But soon I'll have to leave. I can't afford to pay the rent. I'm in my early 20s by the way and I live in Michigan. I can't work. I have social anxiety. No one will help me. I'm trying to get disability for social anxiety. I'm in Warren, Michigan. |

Question: How to stay calm if someone is always doing things that provoke you ? Posted: 12 Jul 2020 07:53 AM PDT she does those things without knowing the effects they have on me .... it's not like I haven't stopped her before telling her not to say this again but .... every time she forgets she shouldn't say this and that I hate it when she says such things I think it's particularly because she is short tempered or doesn't really thinks before saying those things |
Question: How to stop having arguments with my mother ? Posted: 12 Jul 2020 07:41 AM PDT Me and my mother really love each and get along well for most of the time but we are both really short tempered.... she never admits shes wrong on anything and neither do I.... but she kind of like has teasing attitude during our arguments which makes me get more angry and the little talk soon escalates in a hot headed argument.... the topics are nothing serious .... I don't like having such loud arguments with her what should I do to stop these arguments from happening.... if i argue back I regret it later but if I don't then i cant get rid of the anger in me |
Question: Is it a bad idea to reach out to my father I’ve never met? ? Posted: 12 Jul 2020 07:19 AM PDT I'm 19, and I honestly hate the feeling that there's someone out there that I share things with who I have never met. I was raised by my mother and adoptive father (weird situation), and I never ever felt a connection to my adoptive father. He did terrible things while raising me that I struggle to forgive him for, and we've never had a good relationship. When my mother was pregnant with me, he told my real father that if he ever saw him again or if he tried to contact any of them, he'd kill him. I just wonder what it would be like to meet the man who I'm biologically related to. I want to learn what we share, I know that we won't have to father daughter relationship I want, as I'm too old for that anyhow, but it'd be nice to learn about my own identity. Is this a good or bad idea, and would it be weird? I planned on writing him a letter expressing how I'd like to meet him if he'd be interested, and telling him a bit about myself. I do understand I may be ignored and not receive an answer, but I at least want to try. Although, I am scared he is married with a family. I might feel bad inserting myself into his life while he has them to worry about. |
Question: When do moms stop carrying their kids? ? Posted: 12 Jul 2020 01:50 AM PDT When they're teenagers is that when they stop carrying them? when I was 11 my mom would sometimes carry me to bed when I fell asleep somewhere and when I was 14 she carried me over her shoulder the fireman's carry and I'm a boy. |
Question: Why some moms isolate their kids from seeing their dads? Posted: 11 Jul 2020 11:32 PM PDT Some not all. |
Question: Do you think the way I treated my brother was justified? Posted: 11 Jul 2020 09:51 PM PDT I see my brother playing his video games or watch the new favorite TV show and I asked him something and sometimes he just doesn't listen because he's talking to his friends or watching a show.. Tonight, I said to Mom that there were some plates on the dinmer table right after we got McDonald's and she said to Arthur and me that we must clean up after ourselves. He said to her that he wasn't old enough to do his dishes or clean the plates, but she said not to talk back to her — which I feel is censoring his free speech. I yelled at my brother (he's 8½) several times because he didn't listen to me while he was watching TV. I said I hate him, blah blah blah. Mom came downstairs. I did this salute SEVERAL TIMES and said "hail our math teachers" (since the ones I had were against multitasking and open mindedness) and "hail our country" in front of my brother including that one recent moment our mom was with him. It ******* bothers me that neither of them called me out for doing the salute. I told my mom apology is just words like "I'm sorry," and she said bullshit like "but do you mean it?" and I said both no and yes. Mom told me that as a brother I don't get to make decisions for him. I didn't make any EXPLICIT references to suicide (since my parents heavily frown over that), but I said to them I don't know what to do in life, I don't wanna do anything IN LIFE. I had a long conversation with my brother while talking about the dishes and saying I hate doing stuff our parents don't tell us to do. Obviously his ******* DAD is lazy, likes to ******* golf or cheat on my mom or yell at his younger brother. I told my brother the truth and he says, "no he's not he just expects me to be mature and trains me to become a man," but I left it off nicely saying "I know, my dad did the same thing to me; but obviously every dad is different." |
Question: My mother keeps threatening me? Posted: 11 Jul 2020 09:50 PM PDT Whenever my mother even gets slightly annoyed or angry, she will start making threats towards me (For example: ''If you don't shut up, I'll punch you'' or ''I'll smash your face in'') and once she grabbed a butcher knife out of the knife holder in the kitchen and said ''I swear to God, if you don't shut up.''. What can I do? I would like to move out but I do not have enough money to move out yet and I am not sure if I can go to the police because I don't have any proof of it. I'm 19, I'll talk to one of my relatives and thank you, Angela. |
Posted: 11 Jul 2020 09:35 PM PDT My mom is going to be 53 this year soon. i love my mom my mom is so empathetic and sacrificed years of her life for my siblings and my dad her ex. My mom is the closest person to me in my life I feel terrible seeing her clean and cook all day for my bro and I we are in our early 20s with mental illnesses that leave us disabled. My dad is hardly around. She has done all but just taken for granted as if her life has no significance like shes just the one who cooks cleans buys ua things and gets nothing in return i want to do something memorable for her I want her to have a great time. Any ideas? |
Question: Why my mum keeps trying to control me? Posted: 11 Jul 2020 09:32 PM PDT I'm 23 and she doesn't even let me go out whenever I want. I have to ask her to go out, when I want to go out the second time in a week, she said, why are you going out so much, your dad is going to be sad? Does she want me to stay at home and just be like this? She also controls my money, saying I need to put this in a separate bank, in which is for the house. But when I want to leave house, she does angry and say I raise you and you want to leave and live somewhere else. |
Posted: 11 Jul 2020 09:29 PM PDT My sister keeps looking through my phone and my messages on my phone. Now she told my mother all of my business and about my messages with this guy, and they keep calling me names and being rude to me over me talking to a guy. What do I do? everytime I defend myself, they start screaming at me & call me every name under the sun, I'm 19 by the way. I did and she still looks through my phone because she keeps finding out my passcode. She keeps purposely looking through my messages with this guy, and then she makes fun of me just for talking to someone. |
Question: Obsessed with a child that isn’t mine.? Posted: 11 Jul 2020 09:15 PM PDT *** PLEASE DONT BE RUDE OR JUDGMENTAL *** I WILL REPORT YOU! ****** I'm obsessed with a 6 month baby that isn't mine, (my friend's god child) I know the babies mother personally, I met her through my boyfriends sister. Which is my boyfriends sister god baby. Anyways, I watch the baby while her mother goes to work. It's only been 2 months since I started watching her and I'm just obsessed, I treat the baby like she's mine, I kiss all over her I hold her non stop. She even makes me cry here and there because I love this baby so much and I just wish she was mine... now I had a abortion that BROKE ME 2 years ago. That still hurts me till today, I didn't have no support and was kind of forced into a abortion.... long story short I regret it everyday and wish I had my baby in my arms every night. I believe this is the reason for me being obsessed with my boyfriends sister god baby... like I'm inlove I want her to be mine so bad and it just hurts I have to give her back to her mother... is this a phase? Or something I should see a therapist about? I'm not CRAZY of course I wouldn't steal the baby or anything crazy lol but I just hurt so much and love and adore this baby like she was my own. I been trying to get pregnant again for a couple months with my fiancé. But I'm not pregnant yet and it just hues because I want my baby soooo bad!! An I always wish this was my baby so much!! |
Posted: 11 Jul 2020 08:10 PM PDT Let's say a woman's only child is sassy toward her, but he never hit her, cursed at her, or stole from her, and never arrested/incarcerated. All of his life, he stayed out of trouble, fortunately graduated high school, works full time, and has his own place and car. Therefore, his only fault is that he's sometimes disrespectful to his mother. This causes a lot of his extended family and surrogate family to gossip and resent him so much, despite the fact that he's not a troublemaker and that his mother now lives comfortably thanks to her son not having baby mama drama nor multiple arrests (thus bail money and child support that could've put her in the poorhouse). So, suppose his mother (who's been single all his life; his father went AWOL) suddenly meets a nice man. Would it be wrong and disgusting for a family member to hope that her boyfriend/husband outlives her and also hopes she left her estate to her boyfriend, thus her spoiled son not getting her "nest egg" (she had a VERY well-paying job and contributed the max to her 401(k), and the family is well-aware how comfortable she lives. Is it wrong if one of them hopes her smart-a$$ son doesn't get her estate? Isn't that jealousy, besides bitterness and harm toward his mother for the sake of laughing in his face ("ha ha, you're not getting your mom's money, you spoiled brat"). And does he deserve all that hate when he's not a thug, thief of killer. Yes, Honor thy mother and father. But is his family being harsh? |
Posted: 11 Jul 2020 05:49 PM PDT In both cases especially small children and carnivore pets like cats and dogs they'll get sick and die. |
Question: What do I do in this situation, advice? Posted: 11 Jul 2020 05:39 PM PDT So basically I'm 17 and I had an iPhone XR I got for Christmas 2 years ago and it broke from water damage and died and I need a new phone but my dad refused to get me a new one because I didn't deserve it so I used my savings from my old job and bought myself an iPhone 11 brand new and a few hours later I told my dad and he screamed at me and forced me to cancel so I told him I cancelled but I secretly didn't and I had it shipped to my grandmas house so I can pick it up there. My dad said he would give me his old iPhone 8 to use but it's old so I don't want it So I'll take it from him and not use it and use the new one secretly and hide it |
Question: Do you think it’s rude to refer to my brother as my half brother? Posted: 11 Jul 2020 05:32 PM PDT Well he is my half brother, we both have different mothers... but he is my only sibling. Do you think it's weird if I refer to him as my half brother or should I just say brother? |
Question: Was my mother in law rude with this statement? Posted: 11 Jul 2020 05:28 PM PDT She went on Skype to visit my 4 year old daughter with my husband and I. She said to my father in law, "you talk about all the stuff I collect and look at them!" I thought that was rude, no? |
Question: How to get over anger at parents? Posted: 11 Jul 2020 05:09 PM PDT I'm so angry at my parents that I don't want to see them ever again. I visited them, at their instruction, for 2 weeks during the coronavirus lockdown. I was having a very busy time at work (working remotely) and they wouldn't just let me be; they got upset when I didn't talk to them constantly, and being at their house made it hard to work. They also give me constant bad unsolicited advice and treat me like a 2-year old, repeatedly telling me basic things that anyone over age 2 knows. When I returned to my home, they emailed me, telling me that while they enjoyed my visit, I should take a break from visiting them and should save my money instead of traveling 600 miles to see them. Then a few weeks later, they emailed mentioning that I should come visit. So it's treating me like a 2-year old and mixed, insulting messages. They are in their 70s and I am in my 40s. My father's love, if it exists, is definitely conditional. My mother complains about me and my brother behind our backs. |
Question: Is my husband attracted to my sister? Or am I overthinking it? Posted: 11 Jul 2020 02:25 PM PDT My younger sister & I, use to have issues with each other mostly over how everyone would compare us. They'd call me the pretty sister, the nicer sister, & belittle her which would always infuriate me. We were kids & it wasn't fair! Even as adults they'd compare us behind her back & i'd defend her. Always reminding them that my sister is such a beautiful woman with a big heart. She started blaming me for it & attacking me, especially considering unfortunately her friends & guys she'd talk to, would comment on my looks. It was uncomfortable & it all caused us to fall apart. Since than she's always bullied me, I've tried so hard to try getting her to see that she is such a beautiful woman. Another thing is she's also always been overweight & recently lost a lot of weight. We both started focusing on our self love, I got married & moved out, which caused us to begin to mend our relationship. She began to love herself & im proud of her, but now she's started comparing herself to me & belittling me. Yes, I recently gave birth & am barely getting back to my fitness. Lately my husband at random moments brings up my sister. He starts talking bad about her looks & it makes me feel uncomfortable. Is he low key infatuated or something? Or am I taking it the wrong way? |
