Here are some examples (not criticism, just real life examples) of situation w/grandma: 1) She flew in from out of state to visit me for a week. Her sister, Jane, lived in the same town as me at the time. I asked her if she wanted to visit her sister. She said "no, I'm tired. I'll just call her on the phone." Wow, she flew all the way half way across the country and she didn't even want to visit her sister! I finally convinced her to go after telling her that I'd drive her for a visit. 2) When I take her to the supermarket, she frequently says "I will just wait in the car." She is not disabled and she walks w/o a cane. 3) She called me to ask me for the phone number of a taxi company. I looked up the number and told her. She said: "Can you write it down on a piece of paper, put it in an envelope and mail it to me?" I am NOT asking her to go mountain climbing or jetsking. I would like her to be a little more motivated and engaged. I now live closer to her (next town to hers). Any suggestions? Thanks.

Well when my mom was pregnant with her She said it was the WORST possible pregnancy. She said it was painful and the post partum depression went on for a year. My sister was a vicious kid too. I hated her when I was little even when she was only 2 (I was 4). She s still that way (but not nearly as horrible) and we're barely getting along. She can't seem to connect that other people have needs and if ANYBODY says anything opposite of what she thinks she jumps down their throat. She almost never tells the truth and NEVER does her chores. My mom and I have tried everything to help her over come this. I feel bad for my sister though. Should I? Was there something chemically off or something? Is she just a jerk? Every time we tell her to stop behaving this way she pretends to cry and she's a good responsible person for 1 day and then the next she's snappy and mean again. She's now 13. Is there ANYTHING I can do for her?

I'm 14 and I have a 10 year old sister. Our dad got married in January and we now live with his wife and her two kids; a 13 year old girl and a 7 year old boy. I love my dad and think we're really close. So when his wife wanted me to share a bedroom with her daughter, I asked him if I could share with my sister instead, because I don't like his wife's daughter, and he agreed. She wasn't happy about this and has been making life very hard for him and me ever since. She complains about it and tells me it's not fair that her teenage daughter has to share with a boy, even if he is her brother. We haven't actually spoken in a few weeks. I like to avoid her so we don't get into an argument about this. When my grandmother was visiting this weekend, she suggested I agree to share with her daughter so my dads life would be easier. There is another bedroom, but she wants it to be a guest room, so none of us are allowed to use it. I feel guilty for putting my dad through this. But I do not want to share with her daughter. She's rude, mean to my sister (made fun of her for asking to visit or moms grave) and is really messy and my stepmother already makes me pick up after her, since she doesn't have to pick up after herself. I hate this whole situation!

But my sister, on Thursday night started behaving REALLY WEIRD. She wanted to sleep ALL the time. (she didn't want to go to school or work). She showed like no emotion (my mom would yell at her to go do some chore and she would say "ok" and then go to sleep and my mom would scream and normally my sister would argue or cry but this time she just looked so bland as if she didn't care even after my mom grounded her). She doesn't seem to be embarrassed. (we took her to the hospital and she was like picking her nose, something she would NEVER do, in public at least..she's 17). She doesn't feel like she has obligations. (doesn't want to go to school or work and we were babysitting on Friday together and we needed to drive this kid to basketball to Medinah Park District but she first drove him to Roselle Park District, then Bloomingdale and then to some other place and i started yelling at her to use her GPS and stop guessing where he has practice and she just said "lets just go to Target and walk around" like she didn't even care that I was yelling her and that we have a job to do) PLEASE HELP AND TELL ME WHAT THIS COULD BE. she's at a mental/behavioral hospital now but I don't think they can figure out the reason behind her behavior. PLEASE HELP ME. I'm 16 and don't know what to think anymore.

i have finished my first season of college football i am in the spring practice part and i hate it all so much. i have wanted to quit for a while but i just don't know how to tell my parents, i have quit wrestling back in high school and my parents were so mad at me. my mom wouldn't talk to me for almost a week i don't want to let my family down but my body always hurts, my grades aren't as good as i would like them to be and i just hate every minute of my life because of college football. how should i tell my parents

It's not like those violence PSAs you see, where the woman is terrified and all bruised face and has a bad life, so I don't know what to do. He slaps my mom, he will push her into walls and act as if he's about to hit her really hard but hits the wall instead. He squeezes her face and arms and she sometimes has bruises on her arms from him squeezing them. Sometimes she fights back so I guess she isn't that scared of him if she's brave enough to push him and punch him to get him away. When he's not doing this, everything is normal.They hug and kiss and joke around with each other. They go on dates. Every Sunday we all do something fun together. My mom works and has friends. My dad also never hits us kids except like one slap when we've done something really bad which doesnt hurt much. I don't wanna call cops but he shouldn't do this . we don't know why he's mad. My brother who's 15 is getting more and more annoyed about it so hes began saying things to my dad which makes my dad angry. My brother I think will hit my dad one day and my dad would definitely win that fight. I don't want it to happen. What should I do? I don't have any family for advice or to talk to

Im not going to explain how she's behaving but my mom is really worried and she wants to go to the house where the party was and ask the people again if my sister took any drugs. Hello! So, I'm going to rant. So... Just a warning. Ok so I knew this girl in high school who came from a poor family. I was super good friends with her until she moved in for about 2 months with my family. Naturally, her constant there-ness got on my nerves. After a while I began to notice why it was that her family was so damn poor. Her mother worked as a manager at a fast food place and her older brother and sister lived with her in a tiny one room apartment. HER BROTHER AND SISTER WERE IN THEIR ******* TWENTY/THRIRTIES AND DIDNT EVEN HAVE ******* JOBS. Of course according to my friend, every business in town was out to get their nobody family so they couldn't get jobs. So when I became old enough, I got a job and asked my friend if she was going to get one. But nooooooo no no no! I guess that she was too good for a ******* job and her "mom didn't want her to get a job". Her whole ******* family discusts me and make me hate poor people. My friend also had a smart phone with a legit plan that cost around $100 per month. I had a ******* flip phone because I didn't want to be high maintenance since my parents had paid for it. Once I got my job I even paid my own plan. We went to Disney World with school one year and her mother gave her $300 for stupid ******* souvenirs alone. My parents and I have never gotten along, and with the help of my therapist, I have realized that they have been/are emotionally and verbally abusing me. Even when they aren't being harsh, it is difficult to be around them. I originally didn't even want to go to my graduation, but I realized I worked my butt off to earn a dual degree with honors and I want to see my professors on that day and thank them, say bye to friends, etc. I'm resentful that every big event has been on their terms and for once, I want to celebrate how I want because it is a special day of achievement for me. The trouble is, they paid for my education, so I feel obligated to "let them have this." Would it be awful if I wouldn't let them come? I don't even know how to tell them.

Whenever my parents buy me anything, and I mean anything, I ultimately feel bad. I don't know if this is normal, but my heart just sinks seeing money come out of my parents wallet. I don't know why, even if they're buying me chips or a pen, I still feel bad. Recently, I sold my old camera on ebay for $50. Okay i have a car that I bought and paid for all on my own it's mine! Well I've been letting my dad drive it since I didn't have a drivers license well recently I picked up a second job so I went and got my drivers license finally (I'm sure anyone that's worked two jobs knows you pretty much go from one job to the next) well pretty much anytime I talk about wanting my car back for me to drive my dad has a "feel sorry for me" party like I actually NEED the car in a couple days I work 8am-1pm at one job and don't have to be at my other job until 5 if I can't use MY car I'll either have to just wait at my first job for my mom to get off work at 3:00 or pay $10 for a taxi home! The only thing that dad uses my car for is to take two and from work he works Monday-Friday and he works for my grandpa driving truck to move things for people so pretty much Monday he drives his truck to my grandpas house and leaves the car there all week because he brings the work truck home every night. I'm not getting why on Sunday nights my mom can't just drive him out there so he can get the truck and bring it home for the week(my grandpa would be perfectly fine with that ) any one else have parents that call dibs on their cars ?

I'm too young to get a job my mom and dad are divorced and my mom doesn't care about us. she doesn't send us money and my dad works as a cartoonist and if his work slows down anymore... :( We're living in an apartment. We used to live in big house but had to downscale, we used to live in California but it's so expensive there so we had to move out with family in Missouri where we lived in a basement for 5 years we had to move out of there because she didn't want us living with her anymore so we got this apartment but literally just getting by. I am 22, I have a 15 year old brother who is failing in school, got caught stealing many times, started hanging out with the wrong kids. Was shot and almost died, my parents moved far away to start fresh but he's still failing, skipping school, stealing, going missing for days.............. My father's only solution to this problem is screaming or getting the belt and beating him, which he's been doing my whole life, he stopped beating me when I was 16........ Well I'm 18 and a few months before, my mother made me quit all social media accounts. She had grounded me from seeing any of my friends and since it was winter and the place I live in is very seasonal, I was stuck at home jobless for a while. Now that it is springtime, the place I live in is getting more business and all my friends are getting jobs. The only job I had l luck with was at a pizza joint that one of my friends work at (who I might add told me not work there out of all places. But I did anyway) I had secretly made new social media accounts, and somebody eventually ratted me out to my mom. He is always making an excuse like "I have to take your sister somewhere" or "Step-Mom's friends are coming over" or "Snowing out, maybe some other time" or my favorite on Thanksgiving when my late mother's brother asked us over, "I am too full to go". He thinks eating and driving is like drinking and driving? So I can tell it is just not a priority for him at all. Grant it the people are his late wife's family but they are my relatives. I am 15 so can't go on my own yet and sometimes I ask them to come get me but on a day like Thanksgiving I don't want to say "hey can you come get me" and so I miss out. Ok so growing up I have been best friends with my cousin. He is more like a brother to me. Growing up I had always envied him. He was on the wealthy side, and I was poor. His mom was a nurse, my dad was a janitor. He was lean and athletic I was fat (I worked really hard at losing weight, but people still viewed me as the awkward kid that followed him around) He was so outgoing and could make friends so easily, yet I was awkward and he was really my only friend. On my 16th birthday I brought a cheap hunk of junk car that I could afford, he goes out and buys a brand new car. Girls always thought he was attractive. He had so many girlfriends growing up (Which I can't lie, he is a pretty attractive dude). Though growing up I was always incredibly smart. I've always gotten straight A's. I've been studying to become a doctor. I've worked really hard at it and can't imagine not becoming a doctor. My cousin just announced to our family that he too, is studying to become a doctor. Everyone in my family is so happy for him. They threw a party for him. My grandma cried. Nobody did that for me. In fact a few of my family member doubted I was even smart enough to become a doctor. People always view me in his shadow. I've worked so hard to try to become my own person. I love my cousin and only wish him the best, and I do hope he becomes a doctor together. Haha we could be doctors together. But I can't help but feel jealous. Any advice?

My older brother is literally throwing his life away. We live in the gulf and we are one of the lucky families to be living here as earning is good/life is good. Since me and my brother graduated , we are striving to start to have a career here so that we can come more dependant. Life is hard, you have to work hard to have a decent life but my brother doesnt seem to grasp that concept. He has been fired more times than i can remember because he doesnt really care to what he is doing. he is either always abscent or making excuses. Lately he got to know that gold digger divorcee is taking advantage of him and his pocket, and he has spending all his money on her and her child, and when you come to ask him any any question..he always lie's, always lies weather it was to his boss to his father to who ever.. It all became just one single lie..! I dont know for sure if he is abusing drugs or not but i see symptoms of drug use always. I am at my robes ends, me and my parents tried everything with him, we tried befriending him we tried threats we tried .. All The only option now is to send him back home but life is going to be much much tougher. I dont know if he is clinically depressed or just acting so idiotic. I have never seen someone just simply throwing his life away I am terrfied for him that if he hits that rock bottom he will never be able to get back up from there. Any and i mean any advise will be helpfull !!

Basically there's a huge storm in my life right now.i broke up with bf but afterwards it was an on and off relationship like he told me he loved me etc but within a week he moved on n had sex with another girl apparently his new gf now.my dad has changed so much that he has become disrecpectful towards my mom.i feel bad for my mom even though i should not because my mom has always favoured my brother over me.She has badly hurt me and did not always treat me the right way (she has somehow been one of the worst mother to me).my friends are not trustworthy and i cant count on them.anyways nowadays people are not trustworthy.my life has turned upside down.in my life no one has treated me the right way.sometimes i feel lonely and that i'll never be happy in my life.i know i have God by my side.has anyone gone through similar situation,how did you overcome it?

Hi, I m 12 years old. I m feeling like my life is falling apart. Here are some of my reasons and explanations. Number One: Socially, I m falling apart, I have no friends. I thought that I did at the beginning of the school year. But they just backstabbed me. I cannot trust anyone. I don t even want to TALK to anyone. But those "Friends" are apparently best buddies with me now! (Sarcasm) Number Two: My own teachers and administration want me out and hate me. I had teachers and even THE PRINCIPAL that I ll never amount to nothing. I got suspended earlier in the year but I was defending my family so ok. Number Three: Everybody feels that I m obligated to do them favors. For example, my teachers always feel like that I m obligated to be treated like trash and nothing more. Don t tell me about the principal thing because he already said that I ll never amount to nothing. Number Four: I feel really unhappy everywhere, especially in school. My mother enrolles me in Nova Middle in Broward County. Which apparently is one of the best schools in The State Of Florida! Wrong, they nothing but cheap, corrupt liars, just like Hillary. What can I do about this? Please help

My dad went to the newsagents a few minutes ago. Before he went I asked him to get me a couple of bottles of diet lemonade. I even gave him the money for it. When he came back, he brought a normal lemonade (not a diet one) and a bottle of cherryade. I asked him why he didn't get the drinks I asked for, and he said "you said to get some lemonade and cherryade". I said to him that I asked for 2 diet lemonades, but he accused me of making him confused. My mum butted in and said that she heard me ask him for 2 diet lemonades and he accused her of choosing sides and turning against him. She denied these accusations and said that she only said what she heard. My dad then accused her of being a liar. My dad then blamed me for him getting the wrong drinks because I didn't say it clear enough. How wasn't it clear? Mum was at the other end of the room at the time and she heard me perfectly fine. Is my dad right to blame me for this?

So I'm 16 and i lived with my mom only ever since I was born and my dad lives seperatly cuz hes an alcholic mistake of husband and anyway my mom has been dating this guy for like 7 years and I hate him.Because whenever he's with my mom she is happier.And when she's with me it's a living hell.she ignores me,and yells at me.I'm an only child and so I have nobody else to talk to.She is always on the phone talking to him andit really bugs me.Plus he's an old guy who's in his late 70s and my moms 45.And it's just weird because whenever he stays over I stay in my room cuz I never want to talk to him and it bugs my mom.she always locks her bedroom door and would **** him. it just makes me really want to cry because who knows what he is doing to my mom aandnd he yells at her and treats her like a slave then They break up and get back together it's getting so annoying.It makes me want to die.

I m a very quiet person unless I get angry. My children and I went to see their fathers family. I get bad anxiety when my children are around pets/animals because my kids are small (1 & 2) and don t know how to be gentle with animals yet. I asked my son to leave the dogs alone & his aunt later on tells him go chase it after the dog bit him! It was a small dog & I think she just hurt him. I just worry about them getting infections, also. Also, im not from where they live. My son wants to take his shoes off at the play place in the mall. She tells him no as if she s his mom. I agreed the first day cause I thought it was something wrong with the play place. She told me she doesn t trust people. The last thing, I don t like for my son to watch certain cartoons cause of hidden messages. Well, his family tells them on anyways. How can I tell them no when it comes to my children?

Hi. My parents are separated and I've had a lot of troubles as my dad was an alcoholic always getting in trouble with the police and maybe soon might have to serve 5 years in jail. Anyways, that was in the past. Due to all this I live in a medium sized home with my mum and grandparents and on my dad's side it's the exact same. My friends brag and brag about how they got this new thing or how they're going on a holiday or something along those lines. It makes me feel sad that my family can't even afford a small house. My grandparents live in a rich area so we were lucky to move here, but as I said it can be difficult because all my classmates/friends are rich. It makes me feel sort of jealous that they're living an easy life with everything they want. I feel really rude because in other countries people are living it worse and I'm sad over some stupid thing. Not to mention, my friends always are like "omg my dad/mum bought me ____ BUT NOT THE COLOUR I WANTED!! ugh." and they're pretty ungrateful. I am happy that I do indeed have a roof on my head but I guess, it's just that they brag and brag and I feel upset. Any advice? Thanks.

Okay so i'll try to make this short but it does require some background. Okay so currently i'm a major in business going for a master's and that has not and will not change. However when I transfer to university I am dual majoring in Business and Anthropology. I'm currently getting a master's in business but i'm getting a doctorate to PhD in Anthropology and going into Archaeology which is my passion. I have loved Anthropology/Archaeology since I was 5 years old and it's been my dream to be an archaeologist. Well my parents think it's a waste of time and when I told my dad he just rolled his eyes at me. I told him that i'm getting my business degree i'm not dropping business but he's not happy at all. He thinks it's a waste and he thinks anthropology and archaeology is stupid and not worth while. I told him i'm going for it anyway and he told me fine but I can tell he's not happy with it. I'm just so torn because I want to make him happy but I don't want to give up my dreams either. I don't know what to do. I hate to bring up irony but I feel like Indiana Jones and his father. His dad didn't want Indy to be an archaeologist either because he felt it was a waste of time. Thing is my dad means the world to me and I don't know if I have the strength to just do what I want. Help Please?!?!

My son is 8, and my ex husband got him a smart phone when he was 6 when I didn't agree to it, so because of that he keeps it at his house when it's his dad's days. One day my son brings his phone with him on my day, even though I don't provide him with the wifi password on the phone and only computer for school work. Because he normally did things online when he was with his dad, play games, go on youtube, etc.. he never really looked around on his phone. Because he was with me, he quickly got bored and decided to dink around on his phone. He came to me and said he read some texts between his dad and BLANK (his dad's girlfriend.) and there were a lot of cuss words. I asked him why texts between his dad and her were on his phone and he said that his dad's phone was broken and he used his phone to text and make calls. I took the phone and started reading where he had left off and was sick to my stomach. Not only were there ugly arguing and curse words, but texts from his girlfriend saying how much she hated my children. Calling my son fat, and saying my daughter will be a whore just like her mother (me). the more I read the more I was sick to my stomach. She time after time put my children down and said the ugliest things about them that I almost threw up, freaked out and called my friends (one which was a lawyer) and asked what I should do. My question is.. What would you do if you saw this?

Long story short: I was sexually assaulted as a teen by my stepbrother on occasions over the span of around 2 years. I never told my parents cause I never knew how. My step mom put the blame on me and said "what would your dad think if he saw you like this?" i fought so he wouldn't get as far as to rape me. he would grab my thigh and legs and he bruised my wrist before. He even laugh when i would start crying. There were the times he would try to get on top of me in the morning cause she walked in and just told him to get off jokingly. But i kept going back to pretend everything was fine. i had a nightmare in November about him and i tried saying it wasn't my fault and that i didn't deserve it.. I'm actually able so really mean it now since my boyfriend has been helping. So what do i say? I don't visit cause im afraid he might go to far when they're gone since they moved to a secluded area where there are few neighbors and bar. I never saw a police station so i don't know. Its sucks cause my boyfriend asked me to marry him and i did say yes and it makes me sad because i love my dad but i hate her and her spawn. I don't want them in my life or if i start a family. i feel safe when im with my boyfriend and its been a long time since i felt safe and i don't want to have anymore drama than i need. So yeah. Please be gentle with your answers. it started 15 and ended a few months before i turned 18 and im 19 now and i never went back. My dad knows something is up. my step mom did tell him of my stepbrother being on top but made it out like a quick joke and he didn't ask me anything. im that person that i shut down and yeah. might help knowing all that plus the last time I saw my stepbrother he tried to corner for apparently a "hug" and I said I like my personal space and he moved to me and I threated to take the knife off the counter and harm him. I'm currently Ina long distance relationship that is soon to be 20months in a couple of days. I live in New Jersey and he lives in California. In October that passed recently in ( 2015 ) I met my boyfriend for the first time and spent 2 weeks at my house without my mother knowing and I do not live with my father. My mom is a gamer and so am I so I can go days or even weeks without talking to her. What I was hoping to do during the summer while not having school and being able to spend more time with him, is he spend 2 weeks here and I spend 2 weeks with him in California. My mom won't even accept the offer of my sister taking me and she is an adult. ( yes she is aware of his existence and him visiting in New Jersey but I told her I haven't met him yet ) I want to go over to California for the summer because I have no freedom at all, I can't leave the house I have to come home right after school, so during my boyfriends visit in New Jersey it was not a great experience for him at all and I feel really bad for him being cooped up in the house. I don't want to spend just 2 weeks with him during a whole summer vacation. Should I try and take this risk just for my own sake and to have fun. Honestly if my sister can just keep the house clean and watch my dog I can possibly get away with it, my mom sometimes call me when she gets home she does not come up the stairs so I can just " pretend " I'm sleeping, I would love to do this but I do not know what to do.

My parents got divorced a couple years ago and I have lived with my mom in our original house, about 1 year she got a boyfriend witch I love he is no nice, but hee is lazy and Dosent really help around the house. I love living with my mom because she ft me because we are the same sex and she understands me more then my dad might. But in high school he wants me to move in with him and my brother that is going to lie there because his collage is close. And he just bought a new house that is really pretty and he gave me a room and my brother. And I don't know who to love with, my dad has more $$ then my mom with can afford to buy me a car, send me to a GOOD collage, acting school and more opportunities then my mom. The bad part is it's like 45minits away so I can't go to the high school I was going to, and I will leave my friends behind and we where so exited about high school!! But I only had 2 friends that where going to my high school but they are MY TOP 2 FRIENDS and I don't want to leave them:( and if I live with my mom I won't need to but I will get less opportunities, and I just don't know:,( please help and tell me who I should live with!!

I adopted my nieces ages 14 and 12 when they were 10 and 8 from their drug-addicted mother. The two girls never had a father figure in their lives, and their mother was extremely negligent. The younger one is fine as far as I know. But the older one? Well. Goodness gracious. We'll call her Maria. Maria can be a sweetheart. She was a beautiful little girl, and sometimes, I still see that. But most of the time she's like a monster that I can't recognize. She was obviously a little messed up when I first got her, but she has just deteriorated. She has had her share of mental health problems. When she was 8, she tried to kill herself. That's right. 8 years old. When she gets really upset with herself, she slams her head into a wall repeatedly. Maria has done every drug imaginable. She's extremely promiscuous. She doesn't care about any of my rules. She'll threaten me with violence if I try to. I'm scared of her sometimes. She was in juvie for battery. What else is a problem is she is incredibly smart, which makes her even harder to discipline. But, if she keeps going at the rate she's going, it won't matter, and she'll be selling herself for drugs in a street somewhere. Yes, because I am sure you are all curious, she has been sexually abused in her mother's custody multiple times by her mother's boyfriends. She has pretty extreme nightmares. I've taken her to a therapist, but she usually ends up hating the therapist, or getting extremely angry.

OK long story short I drove my boyfriends car to my sisters house which is 3 streets away from mine and anyways we had to go to the store for something and for some reason she wanted me to drive her truck so I get in and accidentally back up into his car! He has a little dint on the corner and his headlight cover is cracked... We have been together 5 years have a 3 year old together and we bought a house together so we're as serious as it gets relationship wise but he would flip if I told him the truth and never let me drive again! It's just cause I didn't realize how long her truck was and it happened at 10pm so it was dark also but now I came home and I haven't told him anything and now he's in bed because he has to work at 6 in the morning. I don't know what to do! I'm so scared and freaking out in the inside! My sister said she would take the blame but it would raise her insurance too much and we just got a dog and found out we have to replace a part of our roof so we don't have the money to fix it... I only have my permit I'm 24. And I'm on disability and that income isn't nearly enough to replace it myself my sister said to pretend I don't know what happened and say when we went to Walmart it must have happened and it was dark I didn't see anything and just act surprised and a little emotional. What do you guys think I should do? Please help! Thanks.
