I was 17 at the time and she walked in without knocking caught me masturbating - not in the act but I was holding my pants up and she could see a porno mag on top of my bed. She was shocked by the scene and stormed out of my room.  I was really upset and totally humiliated.  However the next two days it got worse as my Mom she publicly shamed me about it in front of my family and years later I find it hard to forgive her and can't understand what she was thinking.  The next night at the dinner table with my younger sister (16) we were talking about films or magazines or some topic and my Mom "of course you brother might not like X - he would probably be more interested in Playboy."  The next day she did the same thing again alluding to porn at some other other family interaction but directed at me. I was so hurt, ashamed and angry. Two days later I waited for her return from work and I went out to her car when she arrived to the house and told her directly:  Stop saying all this Playboy stuff in front of my sister right now! And it was never discussed or mentioned every again.  Question: What was she thinking to shame to a young man like this about something completely normal?  This is more than 20 years ago but should I ask her? No parent is perfect but why would a parent do this to their young son?  

I'm a dreamer and are often away with the fairies, and often I dream and wish I was somewhere else....somewhere in the United States with a nice girlfriend and starting a new life somewhere else. But instead I'm in England, living alone in a little council flat with no support network and no relationships, coping with mental health problems with my only support system being my elderly parents who live far away........I've had a hard life and things didn't go the way I wanted. She hasn't removed any of the poop since I cleaned the coop for her last year when I was visiting.  Yesterday she didn't give them fresh water till 3pm. She hasn't collected eggs in almost a month, and I found the nesting boxes without hay and full of poop.  I am trying to convince her to let me find them a new home but she and my sister get very offended and defensive.  They think I am only trying to hurt their feelings but don't understand the neglect.  I am staying at my parents house for a couple of months to help them with some construction projects on their property before I move out of state for an up coming job change. I won't be able to help them on their property anymore once I move and don't know what I can do for the chickens.  Right now I am caring for them but they will only be neglected again once I leave.

So why should I accept such a cold raw deal ?

Back when I lived in NJ, I was always judged by my parents and siblings on what I had. They always wanted to be in my business, yet I never knew a thing about them, and they always separated themselves from me. So I decided to move to FL with my fiancee and three kids, where they can stay out of my business. My brother, who I haven't heard from in 3 weeks, hits me up out of the blue just to ask if my fiance has a new car. Back in NJ, he always judged my fiance for having an old car. So my wife's family visits but only say hi.  Theye never talk to me, I find that insulting. I'm thinking of not allowing their visit any more. Her siblings in particular come and lay down on the sofa, put blankets over while they watch their favorite tv programs and eat together.  So there's no room for me to sit or even talk to them.  There's never any effort in getting together, only time they ever say anything is when they have a question about something they want

Hey, I'm new here, my name is Hayden (15m). This morning I wanted to go out for a run, to practice for cross-country over the summer. I was putting my shoes and running attire on, and she said nothing about it (She was talking about something else we had a disagreement on.) Only when I said "I'll be right back" and she noticed my clothes, is when she said something about it. I just told her that I wanted to run around the neighborhood a bit, by myself. In short, she didn't like it one bit. She suggested that I could run while she followed me in a car, or just let her run with me. I've never asked her if I could go running alone before, so I understand her suspicion on that front, BUT we live in a very large and SAFE neighborhood, and she knows I have friends who run alone that are female and much smaller than me! (not to be disrespectful) My mom picked up on my anger and said: "It was too close to the last time I told you no." What she meant by that was: Our little disagreement was because she thought I was lying to her about buying a game (even though I showed her pictures, a screen recording of me buying it and what it does AND the receipts) I mention over and over that I show her everything and she still thinks I'm lying to her because shes uneducated about technology (she's purchased it at least 5 times prior)  Is her reasoning correct? My question: Am I in the wrong here? Is she right? I'm starting to think she has trust issues. Or maybe I'm asking too much. 

my daughter who is 22 is 38 weeks pregnant, her and her boyfriend are planning to get a place together but until then she wants to live with me, her boyfriends dad doesn't like me and is saying he won't let my grand daughter live here...if county checks things out and say its OK for my daughter and grand daughter to live here if that's what she wants do the boyfriend and his dad have any right to say they can't live here?

Last week, I spent about 60 dollars on a restaurant that my younger brother wanted to try. It was a really nice treat. My brother said he might want to go again this coming week. Tonight, my mom said that it seems kind of expensive to eat there frequently. I then told my mom that yes it is, maybe we can try other places. I wasn't really listening at the moment so I said we'll see, maybe we'll go there again. I didn't want to seem like I was shutting down the idea so I said that maybe that place can be a once in a while treat. I don't know why I brought it up again. My brother usually eats at home for the majority of the week but it's usually one day out of the week we eat out. How often do you think is good to eat at places? Do you think this is expensive?

It seems the more I achieve for example when I graduated from college the more hate one of my siblings has for me. It started with weight loss when I loss weight my sibling socked the wall and called me a hater. When I graduated college she said that I'm doing it to be better than her. It's seems achievements are a burden to them. I can't sock this sibling because I don't want to set that role model to my family. What should I do and why does this happen?

I have a good dad. But he was gone a lot for work (one time for a whole year.) And he's very emotionally reliant on me. I view a lot of my teachers as father figures and have been doing that for a long time. Idk why. I also am really scared of abandonment and I'm super insecure. But he was a good dad except that he was very reliant. He also got angry sometimes and yelled a lot and almost hit us but he's usually very kind and thoughtful and empathetic. Idk I'm just confused 

I had a sibling growing up who is incredibly crazy. She would bully me for no reason and do bad things to get me in trouble. As we got older that sibling that was a bully has the worst life of all of them. She would jump when she was pregnant and her boyfriend would beg her to stop. She hates her boyfriend mother and wishes death for her. Her boyfriend does not want to marry her. She has had the same job for 20 years without any promotion any pay raise. I just don't understand where this evilness towards others comes from? Why do you think?

Schools been out of session sense march and as soon as school was cancelled for the rest of the year, my history teacher who's a big man with glasses with short brown hair in his 30s sent me an email to my school email asking how ive been and telling me to stay safe and all this and we talked nicely then he said he kept emailing me trying to talk to me and eventually i didn't reply because it got annoying and then a week later he added me on snapchat apparently through quick add?? and then he told me he was posting homework on his instagram account and i had to follow him to see it and he would follow me back. i found this hard to believe then he somehow got my number and texted me asking if we could talk one on one in a call and catch up. he also randomly texted me a funny meme after i didn't reply. i'm so uncomfortable and feel like it's against policy but i'm not sure, i'm a girl btw, anyone have experience on this? maybe i'm overreacting but this is a serious question and i need input i'm 17 btw

My sister tells everyone what to do. I have schizophrenia that causes amotivation. My sister knows im struggling so she rubs it in my face. My sister asked while i was in her car what did i do today. Because of my schizophrenia i didnt do much she knew so i told her i dont wanna say because she would make me feel bad about it. Literally everyday, my mother always complains and acts extremely negative. She also always tries to tell me very negative things like she wants me to think negatively herself and when she doesn't like someone, she tries to pin me against them by making overly exaggerated comments about them. What I do?

Every time I say "No" to my sister or even have a minor disagreement, she starts arguments with me, swears, and screams at me. All of this happened because she was being really nosy, looked through my phone and found a inappropriate conversation between me and a guy. Now I do not know what to do, she keeps trying to hold it against me and all of this happened a few weeks ago, and she still won't let it all go.  Also, please don't tell me to just ignore her because it doesn't work, she purposely instigates me and basically bullies me until she gets a reaction or until she at least sees that I am bothered by her. My mom bought 2 pizza pies. My older brother wanted to give one pie to his friends when he visited them today. The family was put into the fridge in a plastic bag. I took pizza (1 slice) from his friends box. He is super pissed and thinks I did it on purpose. He was so mad he punched a whole. He wanted a clean untouched buy which I ruined. I didn't mean to. I explained that I forgot and that it was a mistake. I apologized and offered to go outside to buy a new pie. He thinks I did it on purpose. I am the kind of sister that is a bit of a tattle tale. I told on him this morning for something, but I would never be this mean. How can I get his forgiveness? the family pizza was put in the fridge whole is suppose to be wall untouched buy was suppose to be untouched pie sorry for typos, i wrote this super fast  im 20  he is 26 my mom told him to go with one slice less and tell them your sister ate it she said its a waste of money to by a new pie with 7 good slices he just took the pie and left so i can't buy him a new pie now 

I'm 15 and I don't want to say I hate my mom but I feel a strong dislike towards her everything she does annoys me I hate saying that it's so mean when I say it but that's how I feel. 

I am 38 and she is constantly calling to make sure I am not going anywhere. Her mother comes home soon and that means she will be anxiety on steroids until there is a universal vaccine. Today she learned her brother-in-law (my step-father's brother) has Coronavirus. He is not on life support or brain dead or gasping for air, simply has the virus and will be indoors for a month or so. My Dad and I do a gathering with my Dad's family around 4th of July every year. My mother will be scared shitless when she sees on my Facebook we did this. We may postpone depending how things are in a month but how do I calm my Mom? I don't want to be alone all the time but when I see her she makes me so nervous. My step-father is usually at work so not there. He has limited work (he is in real estate). My Mom makes me so nervous but I don't want to avoid her totally. I am anxious and depressed regarding COVID-19. What do I do? Thanks Dr. Stephanie. Good excuse to avoid her anyway.    By the way we are using precautions at this this my Dad and I do if we have it. More likely it will be August when cases go down. We have masks and gloves for everyone and it is just 15 people (his immediate family). 

My husband and I have three sons (ages 15, 13, and 9) who share a room. Our house has some...unique features to go along with some of the usual stuff you'd find in an upper middle class home. Among the more unusual features of the house is a large room in the back of that has three "nooks" off of the main area. My husband and I decided to use it for our boys' bedroom (even though there are other "regular" bedrooms in the house, which we currently use for guests), with each getting their own personal nook and the main area in between serving as a sort of general lounge area. Anyway, I've been wondering for a while if the boys are of an age where they should have their own room. There's really no reason that I can think of other than I and my siblings each had our own room growing up, and kind of wonder if my sons should now, too. They do change their clothes in front of each other in their bedroom, though none of them have said that they're bothered by this at all (the two oldest just had gym class at school at the same time, and their lockers were right next to each other and they showered next to each other, plus all three have changed and showered together at the gym, so it's not like they would never be undressed around each other - and other boys - otherwise). My husband points out that he shared a room with a brother growing up without feeling deprived or uncomfortable. So should I insist my three sons be moved into their own room, or are they all right where they are?

I grew up and had 6 siblings and I am the youngest one. My siblings never encouraged me never lifted me up. They always brought me down and told me to go work at the grocery stores they work at. I turned them down. I went to college and got an education and met my husband who is an incredible engineer. When I graduated college there was never a card no present no recognition. When they met my husband they hated him just because he is an engineer and not a factory worker. Why have they always been this way?

I work 9-6 in software dev. By the time I go home and cook, I'm too exhausted to do anything. Does anyone else not have a side hustle? It seems like everyone has some way to make extra income on the side nowadays and I feel like I'm missing out.
