I'm a musician, still living at home as i'm 19, but i gig every week, record my own original songs and manage social media and my own finances. It's hard work and yet i'm always being told by my family that i do 'nothing'. i'm so sick of people thinking that just cause i enjoy doing my music, that its all fun and game, there is a huge business side to it, and i wish i could show my parents that even if i'm on social media or recording in my room, it doesn't mean i'm being lazy, i building publicity etc. How can i get them to understand this? I'm also in full- time education when i'm not working on my music

My brother is a meth addict, and is ruining my life, I used to practice sports like archery and airsoft, but since my brother is an addict my mom wont let me do any of those things, in fear that he will hurt himself or someone, yet she doesn't try to stop him from bringing bb and pellet guns hone as well as knives and stuff, she won't let me get fish but she let him get a big *** tank, she enables him, and gives him money and gets him whatever he wants because she doesn't want to deal with his fits, yet she still doesn't let me pursue the activities I want to do, mainly archery, I'm really good at it and it's a useful skill, but she doesn't let me anymore. I've been doing since I was 9! And I have never had an accident ever, I don't know why she uses him as an excuse, and if he brings drugs home she claims she will kick him out next time be brings them home but when he does she kicks him out for a few hours and then her and my dad ask if he will be good and he meanly says yes, and they let him in, it happens over and over again, they give him everything he wants and I suffer because of him, she takes out all the anger she has on him towards me, I don't know what to do she takes away the only things fun in my life because of him, and I even have perfect grades in school and am super nice. I am getting really upset, what can I do ?!!?

When I want to do something, she will always make up stupid excuses for me not to go, like you've seen that person enough of something. My dad is always fine with me hanging out with my friends. Then one night I was crying because I was upset over sh*t going on between my sister and I. She called me selfish for crying over it and that I just wanted attention. One time I missed my old school and I was crying. She called me a baby. Speaking of my old school, my mom won't let me hang out with any of the people from there because apparently she thinks they are "bad influences" on me. She has it in her mind that I stared cutting because of them, when really, it's all her. She won't let me contact them at all in any way. She gets mad at my dad all the time and calls me a failure and compares me to my older sister all the time.

My dad and I ( we're legal immigrants) live with my aunt and uncle bc my dad refuses to work a job with proper pay bc he wants government money like food stamps and all that. We couldn't move out bc my father does not have credit score & his low income will not allow us to get a place. I absolutely hate it & promise myself that I will work my *** off and get my own place. I'm saving up for moving out as soon as i turn 18 (Im 17) and my aunt has always been emotionally abusive to me. She would call me autistic & dumb as a kid & yells at everything i do. She doesnt allow me to have heat & i live in the basement so you can imagine how cold it gets in the winter. She doesn't allow me to have lights after 7pm, & doesn't allow me to shower more than once a week. She yells at me for coming home late bc I was working & said I that im a whore & She doesn't allow my mom to visit me. So i go visit my mother instead. Despite that I shut my mouth and just make the most of the situation. Yesterday she found out that I had a desk heater, i use it to heat up my hands when I'm writing or typing. We got into a fight & she slapped me multiple times & i ran out of the house and cried. My father yelled at her but didn't do much. I don't know what to do and I'm afraid to call the cops bc what if i dont have enough evidence. I'm also so afraid of being hated my everyone in the family for calling the cops on my aunt. I don't know what to do. I can't live like this anymore

My dad has had clinical depression for years and just a couple days ago he started acting differently and basically completely stopped talking to my sister and I. We have no idea what happened or why he's acting like this. This has happened in the past but he's usually better by the next morning but he's been like this for two nights now. I've tried to reach out twice with small gestures (making him dinner last night, inviting him on a small trip today), but he's rejected both. I can't help without knowing what's wrong but he's horrible at using his words. I'm scared of directly asking what's wrong because I have horrible memories of asking what's wrong in the past and him just screaming at me after I ask and I always feel super guilty afterwards. I just don't know what to do anymore—Do I give it another day and see if he gets better? Or should I ask him if something happened or what's wrong? I'm scared of not doing anything but I'm also scared to do something, if that makes sense. I welcome any form of constructive advise.

I've physically & emotionally hurt people, stolen, been racist, insulted and dissed my own religion(Islam) cheated, been disrespectful to my parents (Mostly because my mom picks on me because she is bored) and am very schadenfroh But I've never committed a crime, damaged the environment or done anything bad to animals. I love animals and I'm vegan. I personally think I deserve to go to hell. But I want to make amends, make up for the bad things I've done. Please judge me all you want. She is a good friend and we've been friends for about 7 or 8 years. So my ex added me on social media. I was excited and one thing led to another and we began to flirt/talked about a potential date (i left the ball in her court to contact me when she's free which she never did). She assumed i just wanted to bang but i said no. I then went about my life and must admit i still flirted around while talking to my ex. Why? because my ex dumped me before and as the saying goes "don't put all of your eggs in one basket" because you'll never know if it'll workout or not. Let me start off by saying I'm not a disgusting troll I'm dead serious right now I'm abiut to call the police. Im having a hard time with my father who is constantly nitpicking me and will snap at me for juvinile things. A few examples of this are him yelling because i didnt stir the yogurt i was feeding my toddler, or when my son has a cracker in his hand to wipe his hands also yelling, my hair is gonna get in the bucket after digging clams also yelling. My mother stood by and did nothing to stop constant verbal abuse and bullying by my father. Younger brother and sister did not have same treatment. Father is dead, mother is 90 yrs old and has dementia. I suffered a great deal as an adult because of their actions, even so far as mental ward in hospital. I can't stand my mother and have little contact. I want to ask her why she never tried to stop father's behavior or stand up for me. I'm an 18 year old girl and about to be a 2nd semester senior in highschool. I have no siblings and no contact with my father. I live only with my mother. I have played violin my whole life and became serious in middle school. From ages 12-18 all I ever did was practice my violin hours per day and study. I will be majoring in music performance in college. I've never had a romantic relationship before and haven't had a real crush in at least 3 years. My mom and I are well off and I am extremely grateful for everything she has done for me and love her lots, however she is a helicopter parent. I have NEVER ever gone out with friends. I do not have any close friends and no one my age has ever come to my house . My mom gets mad super easily and I do not have a good relationship with her. She screams and yells at me and I just have never asked her to go out and have fun on my own. She cares a lot and loves me. I know she would never let me go to a party. She wouldn't let me go to the prom last year with friends in their limo because she thought they would take drugs. I feel that I have never had nice fun memories of my teenage years/highschool. My life is pretty good; I have supportive friends and family (with the exclusion of my parents. They're always arguing and my mum constantly talks crap about me and brings me down, and she also does it with my other family members too.) and I'm not poor. However, I am overweight (my BMI is 24) but it hasn't really bothered me, since my image hasn't been the top of my worries. My mother has recently gone to constantly berating me about my weight though, and it's now getting to my head, but I'm not depressed or anything like that. But yet, I've been cutting for two years. My sister and mother don't have a car I do . I paid for my 2016 car with my own money I saved for months . With help from absolutely no one . My sister does not have a car because her baby's father wrecked it and she doesn't have insurance my mom sold her car because it wasn't working well . I am about to go on holiday for 6 weeks away from my family for the first time (usually it's only a week or so) and I am very nervous. My cousin always steals my sister's and my things. She stole a bracelet from me when we were younger, and more expensive things like fancy notebooks and pens. Whenever we confront her about it, she always says things like "I didn't take that. My teacher gave it to me." or "I bought that myself." If i want it back I have to look for it myself! I just found out she stole my portable charger today. I lost it a couple months ago and my little sister told me that she saw it in my cousin's bag. When my sister asked her about it, my cousin said that it was hers and that she bought it! When I get it back, I want to tel her that I know it was her who stole it but I'm afraid she'll continue going through my things until she finds what she wants. Another thing that makes it worse is that my door lock is broken, so whenever she's at my house she can pick through my things and take whatever she wants! Please help!

My daddy is in jail. I didn't meet him until may 21st 2017. I'm a 13 year old girl and never had a father figure besides him. I'm sometimes told I have daddy issues from not have a daddy in my life. My dad signed away his rights in 2015, and has somehow gotten out of child support. He went back to jail December 5th 2017 for shooting a guy in the shoulder and has a 2,002,510$ bond. I have a sister and cousin who are not very nice to me. I try so hard to make things good but I feel like as much as I am nice to them and I am there for them for anything, it's just not returned. I've lent my sister thousands of dollars over the years and I'm always really nice about it and I don't tell anyone. She has paid back most of it. I planned her whole baby shower and paid for everything and hosted it at my house. Half my attic is full of her stuff so she doesn't have to pay for storage. I always smile and tell her it's no problem. And I mean it. But then sometimes I feel like a fool. It's like she's usually nice to me in person but really she just takes advantage of me. I hear from other people about things she says behind my back sometimes and it's really hurtful. It also sometimes seems like she and my cousin intentionally leave me out. If I try to bring any of this up, they text each other and make fun of me. I really feel like it might be best to just cut ties and move on. I want so badly for my sister and I to have a good relationship and sometimes I think we do but then I end up feeling like I'm stupid and she doesn't actually feel the same way. The obvious problem is that they are family. They are always going to be around. I hate the way things are. You can't just cut off family when you know they will be at every holiday and family event. I'm feeling hopeless about this. I always hope it will get better but then I think I'm being naive.

Question: Does an elder sister deserve respect from a younger sister or not at all?

So my family and I had made plans for traveling. I knew we were not going to be home for some time. I ordered some small items before the date we left. I noticed they were going to arrive on the day I was not going to be home nor any of my parents and siblings. I figured I could have them shipped to my aunt's house who lives nearby. I received a notification that my package had already arrived at my aunt's house. So I asked her via phone if it arrived to ensure it did happen. Otherwise I could contact the place. My aunt did not bother answering the question and instead asked when I was going to visit. I literally visited her before going away. But my aunt was being a total ***** to me for no reason. And it makes me angry that she cannot give me a definite answer. Either way I was going to stop by and visit. I just don't know what to do. My parents told me to give her a break and I cannot! I just want to know if my stuff arrived because I spent my money on it. What should I do? This same aunt has given me **** before but I had to disregard it because she's my aunt. With this incident, i had it up to here.

So me and my two siblings all have different mothers, and for as long as I can remember my dad has refused to tell me who my mom is. My brother Darnell was around when I was born, and he usually won't talk about it either, but the other day he was pretty drunk so I thought it was a good time to try and get some information out of him. He wouldn't name names but during that conversation he claimed that she was a serial killer and was doing a life sentence. I was pretty shocked and tried to pass it off as drunk rambling, but I haven't been able to get the thought out of my mind since, and when I confronted Darnell about it today he got all quiet and started acting really withdrawn and suspicious. Do you think he was lying to me? Or could my mom really be that kind of monster?

My ex came to my home and dragged my daughter out of my house (its winter here -19) my daughter had no shoes no coat. My daughter was visiting me for winter break there it is court ordered. I recently served the mother for custody because my 12 year old daughter was telling me she was being physically and mentally abused by her mother. The mother was so angry that I served her so she came to my house and tried to take her away. My wife was able to get my daughter back in our home back to safety. Her mother and aunt dragged, punched, scratched my daughter while trying to take her. THE MOTHER AND AUNT WERE NOT ARRESTED! police officers came out and took photos of my daughter she had red marks and scratches all over her arms. On thursday I have court for custody. Will I win. What do you guys think. This system is so messed up I dont want to lose my daughter.

I'm only 17, but, I maintain a part-time job and juggle straight A's at school. I have high hopes of saving all my paychecks so that I can travel overseas. Either alone or with a teen travel group. ( I will be 18 by then ). My family always told me to save my own money and I can do whatever I want, but, being a girl...everything I want to do I'll apparently be raped or killed. Yes, I know traveling alone at 18 isn't the best idea, but even if I go with a travel group they still don't trust me. My dads side of the family had traveled when they were teenagers. My moms side did not. I live with my moms side of the family and they're being so rude and snobby towards my wishes...but when I'm 18, they can't tell me what to do. If I save money, Should I go to a different country with a travel group?

The incident caused me to get locked up in jail for 77 days after which I received 5 years unsupervised probation but could not have contact with my mom's house because my brother lived there for the whole 5 years probation I just got off probation a year early and was cleared to call my mother's house my mother wants to meet me and my new wife for the first time but my wife thanks I should go by myself first and rekindle with my mother. My question is what does it mean when my wife says I have mommy daddy issues

So my father asks if i want to go over his friends house. I say no. Then he proceeds to argue telling me he doesn't want to be in the house, and then he says "I'll tell you if we're going" how does this make sense? He asks if i want to go. I say no. Then gets mad? He always forces me to go places i dont want to go and even tells them i said i wanted to be there. This truly pisses me off. If i had to go somewhere DONT ASK ME, JUST TELL ME WE HAVE TO GO SOMEWHERE, right?

My mother never tells me where she's going or is anymore, and it makes me worry when she shows up late at night or doesn't show up at all. I asked her why she doesn't tell me and she says I'm not her mother. Even still, I think that as her daughter there still lies the same reason why a daughter should tell their mother where she's going, which is that I worry about her. I want to know where she is, when I should be expecting her and if she's safe. How should I explain this to her so that she understands, but also in a way that's not embarrassing?

My husband's brother is confusing the **** out of me and is making me feel a bit uncomfortable. I try not to look at him because it seems as though every time I do he's already looking at me and god it's just so awkward when that happens. Anyway I've noticed a couple of times this week that after he's kissed his wife he looks at me or if he's cuddling up to her there he is again with his eyes on me! I don't know if he wants a reaction or what but I'm trying my best not to give him one even though it's winding me up. Yesterday I noticed when I gave my husband a kiss and he put his hand on my thigh, his brother immediately put his hand on his wife's leg and I mean literally straight away. I noticed that from the corner of my eye so I didn't see his face but I know he must have been watching. My question is why though? I'm not naive enough to think he's in love or whatever but seriously he's 10 years older than me so I think surely he must have grown out of childish games and stuff. I don't think he's trying to be mean either because he's always really nice and helpful too. Id ask my husband but hes very insecure as it is so it wouldnt be a good idea.

So I'm 18 and I'm in college and I don't know if I should move out or not. I'm a victim of physical abuse from one of my relatives and my parents don't do anything to stop it. They are crazy and when I mean crazy I mean like they make it their job to make my life a living hell. They don't let me go out to do anything even to the gym when I spent hundreds of dollars on a pass. They call me a several names and they tell me I have no future. They don't give me any money for any expenses and they don't buy me clothes. I really don't want anyone to think I'm spoiled Bc I'm not. They treat me like a piece of crap. I work hard In school and stay at home all day and contribute to the family by doing everything around the house. I used to work for a little and my parents forced me to quit Bc they thought I was looking up to my manager whom was a very smart and kind person, and they didn't want me to have other role models other than them. They are the definition of psycotic parents who abuse their privelage of raising a child. I'm so mentally scarred from the way they treat and talk to me by isolating me from the world and making me think i am not worth anyone's time, etc. And I don't have any money to pay for an apartment if I move out what do I do?

So my older sister used to smoke at a fairly young age so I'm wondering if that's why she's doing it. But lately my mom keeps saying she smells cigarette smoke even though I don't smell anything. Anyway to assure her I'm not but not telling her directly because I'm not sure she is thinking I am.

Now this seems like a cliche question and your first instinct is either gonna be "listen to your parents" or "ur too young", but like heres the situation: I'm 15, i start driving next week At this point I should be trusted to handle myself well enough that even if I do have sex I'll use protection (sex isn't a taboo in my house, we joke and reference it all the time) My older sister was allowed at boy's houses when she was my age and younger, even. But for some reason I'm not? I don't really do anything behind their backs they don't have a reason not to.trust me And like they have no problem if he comes over here or if we're in public but when he is over they seem to watch us like a hawk and like they say that if we cuddle I'm "submitting to him", which is ridiculous. And also they say I have to "earn the right" to cuddle with him??? I've talked to.my sister (who's 20), my brother in law(21), and my aunt (over 30, idk her exact age) and they all say they're being ridiculous and don't understand why they're acting like this with me when they didn't with my sister. I'm tired of it and it's stressing me out bc like I have everything I could ask for materially but like they don't seem to care about what I ahve to say about my emotions

He started yelling at me because I didn't clean my room. I just kept walking and he grabbed my arm and kept yelling. Then i said I have gotten to it yet but I was going to but now that you're yelling at me I'm not. Then he started yelling at me for backtalking. And I told him to F off and he slapped me. Is this abuse? And he won't let me leave the house until I clean my room. Should I call the cops ??

We bought a house a couple months ago. And first thing we did was built a fence for my dog. It was a nightmare. He would lose it at every little thing that went wrong. Near the end of the project her was drilling the gate on, and the screw stripped. He started going off about how people make things that don't work. And that he wanted to kill himself....because a screw stripped.... I told him if he continues to act that way im going to move out. He said sorry. But I don't know what to tell you because im not going to change. I'm a miserable hateful person. I told him his outbursts make me extremely uncomfortable, and that he should go to anger management. He said it would be a waist of time and money. He apologized when he does those things, but I dont care because i know he will do it again. He's real fun to hangout with when he's in a good mood but I've just been avoiding him lately because of his anger. Sometimes I can hear him outside working on something and just scream and cussing. As a matter of fact he's outside huffing and puffing right now. He hasn't asked me to help him with something in a while, but when he does, I was just going to tell him not if he's planning on throwing a tantrum. He had anger issues when he was a kid but I wasn't as concerned than as I am now. He's about three inches taller than me and could probably take me out if he got to angry enough. I'm just so tired of this. I'm tired of avoiding my brother out of fear he will lose his temper.
