I know in friendship where it never matters where are you from but the cultural expectations and social norms are can. So they added me to a group email chain without consent, discussing the probable gifts for newly married couple. The per person estimate for the gift would be 60 to 70 dollars. I honestly don't mind doing this for friends. I have gifted gifts costing $100 to $200 to my really good and time tested friends. However, from months i am feeling ignored. For months none of them care for me. They talk to me when they need information or advice on something. I had a major surgery few month back and although I was not here, none of them cared to ask me how I was. I feel for some I am chauffeur, immigration and loan consultant. When they need me they would call at 11or even 12 at night. When I need to talk no one even hardly replies the call. I don't have much friends in the current area I live in. I fear saying no will make people gossip and make me social pariah. But in any case, time has proved that I can never expect anything from those people. What do you suggest? Thanks |

Well the same time he joined, so did two of his friends. And their pictures were fake. well my other friend and I remembered her password and put it into the Insta login screen. With her exes username and her password we were able to get into his account + the others. And during the summer she lied some more. She claimed she was in California when she wasn't. Another friend of mine had seen her at the post office only an hour before she had said she was in LA. Well my friend that knew about her lying jokingly said that I had seen her. The girl lying was like "oh yeah she probs did. I had to come back for my luggage then flew back" ...? Makes no sense since it takes almost 3 hours to get to Cali from where we live. So there's no way she could've gotten there in under an hour. But after that she posted a pic of her at a hotel with LA, California as the location. Yeah no the hotel was only South Padre, Texas she had been there earlier in the summer. After that he posted a picture in front of HER HOUSE with the location Chicago. Now she's lying about this junior guy who she claims talks to her often. No...he talks to her in their art class. Never out of class. He's very popular and she's only popular in our grade. Last year we were on the same "team" for school. She met this over girl my other friend and they got pretty close. This year me and the other girl are on the same team again my first friend isn t. All three of us are in the same Spanish class. Everytime the teacher asks for us to get partners they both quickly go to each other but neither of them even consider me. And we ll all be talking and then all of a sudden they just walk away and start talking. But the first girl is super nice to me when it s just me and her 2. The second girl I met last year and we got close as well. We re in four classes together and she sits with us at lunch. My other friend doesn t sit with us cause she has to sit in another cafe. At lunch sometimes she can be a little rude to me. We hang out a lot me and her. I also hang with the other girl. One of my students, a sixteen year old girl, is very intelligent, and I see her going places. On several occasions, when worried about her work ethic or motivation, I praise her and tell her that I can see her going really far in life. She always smiles and thanks me. What I'm worried about is the fact that, during class, if she messes up something or doesn t understand, she jokes to her friends about being a "lost cause". They all laugh and get back to work, but it happens enough that it worries me. Some days it's, "I'm so stupid, oh my god," or, "He, (meaning me,) has too much faith in me. I suck. I'm gonna fail." She always says it in a joking manner, so I m not sure if she really believes it. I've also overheard her joking about her parents never listening to her or never being home. Her father is a doctor, so it makes sense that he's gone. She seems to take it personally, though. She is very close with her friends and loves to be praised, have her hair played with, hugged, and validated, or so it seems. She likes when people touch her affectionately, and constantly jokes with her friends about asking them to touch her and about needing a "mother AND father figure" in her life. I've also heard her say that she doesn't want to date people and get too close to them. She's a very bright student, and I'm slightly worried. What does all of this mean? He is a little weird, but I think he seems really nice and smart. He acts kind of odd sometimes and doesn't seem to have any friends. I tell myself I'm going to say hi everyday, but I haven't yet! I'm shy and a bit socially awkward myself. Anyways, he's in two of my classes, but he sits across the room from me. I have been trying to find him at lunch, but I can't find him! And then afterschool, both of our parents park across the street, so I'm usually walking behind him at the crosswalk. He seems somewhat unaproachable though. Posted: 21 Sep 2016 02:25 PM PDT It all started out a while ago when I was joking with a bunch of friends (all boys because I've never really got on with girls) and the lights in the boys' toilets had brok and it was pitch black. We all went inside because we thought it was scary and we were just playing pranks on one another. We were in there for about 2 minutes until we were told to get out and a few girls saw me exiting the boys' room. I was called many names when I came out like "Dirty skank", "Whore", "Slut" and "*** bucket". I was in tears afterwards as it was only meant to be a joke. I was looking towards my best friend to defend me but all she said is "They have a point.". I was heart broken that my friend wasn't there for me as I would've been there for her if it was the other way around. After walking away, one of the girls followed me and started insulting me about how I look. I tried to defend myself without insulting her back, but then she beginning to get violent so I pushed her away. She then pushed me back and threw a book at me. I threw it back and she proceeded to insult me and push me. I got away and went home. The next day (yesterday) I was constantly judged and insulted at school. Toward the end of the day a girl came up to me and threw a cup of water at me and told me to "Go f***ing cry and kill yourself, now.". Everyone laughed at me including one of my closest friends. I felt betrayed and I'd lost another friend because of the bullying. I called my stepfather afterwards, he said "If it were someone else you would have laughed.". Teachers are aware of this but giving the students detention isn't enough. I skipped school today due to the bullying. I couldn't stand the sight of school and the thought of it made me sick. I'd recently attempted suicide and I'm a self-harmer. I am so scared of facing school tomorrow but I want revenge as adults are not doing anything. I feel like I'm drowning and everyone is just watching, laughing. |

It's not decorated fancy at all, but it is in a nice location. I could tell he had a problem the second he came over though, but ignored it because this has happened to me a lot (I've lost friends after they've discovered I have money. A best friend of mine said she could not longer be my friend because 'you have money, and rich people have no souls, so I can't continue being friends). My mother got me tickets to a hard to get play for my birthday and I invited my friend because I know he wanted to see it. I overheard him just the other day talking about the tickets and me to someone and he said, "oh well her daddy got her the tickets. She's a trust fund baby". I almost burst into tears. Am I overreacting to his words? Should I confront him? Or let it go? Also I don't know if this really matters, but him claiming my 'daddy' bought me the tickets was obviously for effect. I've talked to my friend before about how my dad isn't around much, and while he pays for my schooling, he's never actually given me a gift for holidays or birthdays. The professor records all of the lectures, so she had it in her head that she didn't need to go to lecture because she'll just watch them from her dorm. The truth is, she never watched them. I would tell her to come to class and she didn't want to. On the day of the exam, I never texted her and told her it was exam day. I looked around the room and didn't see her, and I told myself it was her own fault. Now, she has a zero on the first exam of the quarter and I feel kinda crappy about it. To any extent, is it my fault that she's failing ? |

It's been there since I was about 5 or 6, when I first started school. I have always been very insecure about speaking and here's the reason why. I was bullied nearly every day in middle school for my awkwardness and being the "weird girl" since I never spoke, and throughout my freshman and sophomore year of high school. It stopped a bit junior year and now that I'm a senior, it seems like no one really bothers to bully me. They all ignore me, instead. Well, I was bullied all the time which obviously added to my insecurities and weak personality. I lost many, many potential friends because I am boring and can't be fun or maintain a conversation. I know I'm boring, and I absolutely hate it. I always look mad and have an actual fear of showing my feelings (hence people thinking I have none and avoiding me) Well, besides all the bullies I also had an abundance of FAKE friends and they ignored me in the rare moments I did start a conversation. Now, because of a fear of rejection, I never ever start conversations with anyone and that just makes them think I'm rude. I can't speak up and I let people walk all over me. I appear cold, detached and awkward. I know I'm introverted, but I'd like to be a little more confident in what I have to say and less scared to open my mouth. | Question: Should I keep accepting my friends gifts? Posted: 21 Sep 2016 10:47 AM PDT So I've been good friends with this guy for almost 5yrs now and we're both 18 now. He's liked me for awhile now and has repeatedly asked me out, bought me gifts, and wants to be around me all the time. I think we're better off friends though so I turn him down. He started buying me small gifts last year (gifts cards, phone cases, hats,etc) that were no more than like $30 but this year he's bought me 3 things so far between $50 - $250 like jewelry, shoes, and jackets. I try not to keep accepting them but he insists I keep them and I don't even know what to tell him or do anymore to make him stop besides date him. |

| Question: Someone committed suicide and i don't know how to cope? Posted: 21 Sep 2016 09:45 AM PDT Yesterday my friend's dad committed suicide, and I don't know how to cope. I first heard about it a few hours ago, and it came as a terrible shock. My friend and I used to be best friends, for about eight years or so, and during those years I also spent a lot of time with her family. Her dad was an amazing guy, so cheerful and always kind. Even when me and my friend began to drift apart during middle school, I saw her dad a lot at the rock climbing gym. I've always admired and respected him, which is why his passing feels so tragic to me. Now I really want to be there for my friend, but I don't know how to approach her without it seeming weird or intruding. It's not like we dislike each other, we just don't spend much time together after we began high school - I guess it's because we've been developing different interests over the years, and we don't have so much in common as we did when we were kids. But I still really love her, and I want her to know that I'm here if she needs me... any advice? |

I got assigned to a sorority which had lots of beautiful girls. I became good friends with many of them and thought I might date them until one of them told me most everyone in that sorority was gay. I was VERY disappointed but we became good friends. One problem they told me they had was they could not go to some school activities they really wanted to go to without a male date. I said problem solved. I will take you. One of the sorority girls must have told her father about our "dates". I got a call from the father one day asking me to join him for lunch at his country club. At the lunch he thanked me for changing his daughter to straight. He introduced me to several company presidents and told them I was an outstanding young man and he would consider it a personal favor if they had any job opening to give me a chance at the jobs. I got 4 job offers at that luncheon and I am going to take one of them. I thought changing someone from gay to straight was not possible. If she changed it is news to me. The dad was very nice to me and I wonder if I deserve his gracious help finding a job. Should I just take the job I was offered with his help and hope for the best for him and his daughter? I don't want to take credit for something I did not do but it is a really great job offer. |
| Question: I feel so guilty on what happened and I have feels for him.? Posted: 21 Sep 2016 09:09 AM PDT Around June, my friend and I were in a hit and run accident. My friend was badly hurt, I remember there was so much blood and his screams still me feel upset. I felt so helpless and useless because I was a third year medicine student with no tools whatsoever. When we got to the hospital, he was placed in surgery which was a few hours. I managed to get in contact with his parents and they were not in the country. But they arrived after a week. He required a bit of physiotherapy and I would tag along with him. Surprisingly, he was very jokey about the whole situation and would say comments like "well now I can call myself a hero". I spent the whole summer with him which was really fun. But I feel guilty about everything, if I didn't ask him to hang out with me that day, he would have been fine. If I didn't stop for ice cream or ate faster none of this would have happened. Worst part is I have developed some feelings for him.. Any advice on what I can do ? |

Well,I have some bowls and I wrote my name on it and she wrote her name over my name and then had staff help her ingrave her name on it. Well she keeps taking my stuff and won't stop. I have talked to the supervisor and she says that she doesn't steal. My mom is my legal guardian even tho I'm 23. Well,my mom and dad knows she steals and she won't quit. So I put my stuff in my room today. I can't just move out cos by state law I have to have a roommate cos I get alone time. There is no place for me to move into the supervisor said. I don't know what to do. She keeps taking things from me and the staff says she doesn't steal. |

I'm afraid she would spend more time with him than me. What if she drifts away from me? I only have her and she has me as someone to listen to her troubles and worries and everything. (We're not spending as much time together as before) We promised to get a house one day and live there together but I never thought of how we were gonna have boyfriends or maybe husbands in the future. I'm emotionally dependent on her, I don't even have time to find a boyfriend (never had a boyfriend because I rejected all of them). It feels wrong to be sad about the fact she's dating but I just want her to continue spending time with me and me with her. Is there something wrong with me. I think I'm too emotionally dependent on her. She's the one who I tell my feelings to, about how i'm happy/sad whatever. I'm happy that she's happy but somewhere in me is sad. Posted: 21 Sep 2016 06:07 AM PDT For a few months, my friend was repeatedly coming to me with all her anxiety-related problems, and it got to the point where it was causing me a ton of stress, so I told her that I couldn t be her counselor anymore (I had offered to go with her to see a counselor, but she refused). The other day I was joking with her at lunch and she sent me a text later saying, "Thanks for making me feel bad about myself. I really needed that." This completely blindsided me because it was not anything offensive or rude, it was a lighthearted joke. Then yesterday she texts me highlighting all the things she thinks I ve done wrong. Blaming me for trying to be there for her through those few months, making her feel like trash, everything. I have been nothing but supportive and a good friend to her, and have just tried to be there for her like I would hope someone else would do for me. She keeps saying she s sorry, but that s honestly not cutting it anymore, because she apologizes, but nothing changes. How should I go about talking to her and what should I say??? |

| Question: How do I be honest with my best friend? Posted: 21 Sep 2016 04:54 AM PDT My best friend and I have only been best friends since 2010, then we stopped talking then by the end of 2015 we became best friends again. I love her to death. She's one of my only good friends. There's just some things that really bother me about her. One of them is that she never answers the phone. It's not bad, and I don't call her too dramatically but I call her a few times at random parts of the day just to say hi and I feel as if she ignores me. At first I think she's just not around her phone but then I see her posting photos with our other friend and clearly she had to use her phone to contact her so it really bothers me how she just ignores any calls I leave. Or when we do call she just goes out of nowhere and sometimes I need help with study and she hangs up for a stupid reason. Other times she makes really childish, immature noises or acts stupid and I kind of get sick of it because we aren't children so why i she acting like one? We've never had a fight before and I hope to keep it that way- in fact, I want this friendship to last really long. I have future plans for us.I really want these problems to go away but I fear I'll ignite a fight, which may happen sooner or later but our friendship has been so smooth and nice so far and I want to stop thinking about her in a bitchy way but these things really need to stop. I don't obsess over her and call her WAY too much, just a few rings here and there and she even admitted she just ignores them. So she doesn't mind me calling. If she's busy she will text me. Sometimes I need help with things and she tells me she ignores me because she's watching TV or something. By future plans I only mean that we have a long way to go with our friendship. She is my best friend, I just want to be honest to her about these things that bother me but I'm scared that something bad will happen. She's not the kind of person who needs space tbh, but I wish she'd calm down because I get stressed. |

However, there were also other separate food items. After finishing eating, he took a 20 euro note to pay for his share. I got my own credit card out and he asked me: 'Are you paying with your card?' I said 'yes, why?' Then he went silent and nodded at the card. I told him I felt uncomfortable for covering for both of us in the last minute. I saw him putting his 20 note back into his pocket. I thought he was broke for a moment but I remembered he had mentioned some time ago that he would go to Vietnam for the summer. When I got back home, I called him and told I wanted to meet him to have my money back. He told me he had to a train to catch at 6 pm but he would make a bank transfer later. Since we live in neighboring countries, we might see each other again but I'm not sure I would want to hang out if I don't feel safe around him. I don't know how if I even should accept another invitation from him, or if I should just should cut him off without an explanation? I feel used and so angry for having been deceived this way. I'm upset to actually have to ask him to give me back my money. Plus I saw pictures of him being in Norway on Facebook this month. I'm very angry that he did this when he clearly had the money to pay for it. This shady behavior made me lost trust in him. I have few friends at the moment and I'm constantly on the defensive now. P.S: this is not so much about the money, but more that I feel disrespected and used. |
