Question: Is it common for social groups to swap places when they leave school? Posted: 19 Oct 2018 04:14 PM PDT I've been out of school for a few years now and the thing i've noticed scrolling through Facebook and Instagram where i still for some reason follow old acquaintances is that those that were once really sporty and were basically the popular kids in school are now putting on weight, seemingly spend each day working relatively low skill work and every night going out getting drunk. While the more weird and "nerdy" kids are now in better shape, are in higher skilled jobs or have decided to advance their education further and the few photos they seem to post of socialising are more formal events. I'm not even trying to say either life is better, if it's what you want to do for whatever reason then by all means, go for it, people have different desires in life, i can't say one is "better" than the other. I'm just wondering is this common? Of course there are the few that don't fall into these categories but a surprising (to me at least) amount of people from my school days do... |
Question: Is this what you do to look after a friend and/or you are worried about a friend? Posted: 19 Oct 2018 03:27 PM PDT I saw my crush for the first time in a long time. My heart was racing (because of excitement) I went into the bathroom to calm down my heart couple of my friends came in to check up on me, I was shaking I told them I was nervous and wanted to leave cause I was nervous in a good way. (We were at a restaurant) I came out of the bathroom, my friends threatened to beat him up, called him an asshole, told me I deserve better, made fun of his hair, made fun of his clothes, called him gay cause he was wearing really tight pants, my friend told me I should never talk to him again, my crush was NOT doing anything wrong. Once I came back from the bathroom I was very comfortable and my heart calmed down. The only thing that made me uncomfortable and awkward was my friends talking so much crap about him for no reason. They ruined my night. My crush wasn't doing anything wrong so there was no reason for them to talk like that toward him. I told them in a FB message I was mad at them, ruined my night of finally seeing him for a long time, I told them he's the best thing that ever happened to me. They didn't seem to care they ruined my chance of being happy to see him. One of them told me they are looking after me and worried about me and the other one kept making things up about him. I told her she made me feel awkward and uncomfortable she didn't seem to care. She continued to say stuff knows would hurt my feelings |
Question: Should I be friends with her or keep avoiding her? Posted: 19 Oct 2018 02:45 PM PDT My husband works with a guy who's wife tries to be my friend. We went to their house several times and she's went out if her way to make food and teach me recipes. She seems too nice and she comes off as fake. People at my husband's work don't like her. I've heard things about her how she is really bad with her kids and how she says she never wanted them (she doesn't have custody of them and signed her rights away with her first born). I just hear bad things about her and on top of that she will hook up with other guys even though she's married but she always posts things about her and her husband and I don't agree with that. Our roommate is never home because he's always hanging out and hooking up with this girl and I don't get it. Yet she really wants for us to go over there and hang out too and she's always trying to hug me and my husband.. our roommate said she cried the other night because I've been avoiding her messages and her. I just don't like her because she seems reall fake and just too nice it seems suspicious. She never done anything to us directly but it's just the type of person she is. Opinions? |
Question: How do I meet other people my age? Posted: 19 Oct 2018 02:36 PM PDT 18 year old male, every time I go to a college event It's useless because they're pretty much designed to exclude. Not sure what to do anymore. |
Question: Am I wrong for ending this friendship? Posted: 19 Oct 2018 01:28 PM PDT I have a friend who I've known for about five years now, and recently I've started to not enjoy spending time with him. When we met during our freshmen year of high school, we were a perfect duo, but now that we're older (19 y/o) we've become so different from one another; he's become so arrogant and reserved, whereas I'm more buoyant. He's constantly trying to assert himself over me with things like new items he's purchased, laughing at me for having ones that are lesser, and stories that emphasize "how great he is", and it seems as though the only topics he can ever bring to conversation are those. He tries to belittle me so often, and I hate being the outlet for that. Myself, on the otherhand, I don't care about those sort of things; my content relies solely on friends and family, not objects and humble brags. I'm his only close friend (as it's particularly difficult for him to make them), and it's almost as if he wants me to be able to say the same about him, as he absolutely hates when I speak of other friends. He makes me feel so suffocated, and it's very rare where things feel like they used to—but I don't think those moments are worth how he treats me. I've begun making excuses to not hang out with him (which is easy since we don't go to the same uni), and I can tell that he's noticing my distance. But even then, he is still making efforts to make plans with me, and part of me feels guilty for feeling the way I do because he has no other close friends. Please help! |
Posted: 19 Oct 2018 01:20 PM PDT alright so about 3 weeks ago, my friend had surgery and was out of school for 2 weeks, so this is his first week back. i wanted to try to make him feel better so i got a gift and a card i was already trying to make him feel better over text. we don't have any classes together, only lunch, so i texted him and i told him that i had something for him. not only did he insist that i tell him what it was before i even had the chance to give it to him, which i thought was very rude. (i texted him "i have something for you. when do you want it?" then he said "what's the gift?" i told him that he'll find out once i give it to him, but he basically was forcing me to tell him before i even gave it to him, he said "tell me, i want to know now.") and he basically showed no appreciation whatsoever. he acts like i'm not even there when we clearly are in the same room. i still haven't given it to him yet because he simply is showing me that he won't appreciate what i did for him. i'm thinking of giving it to him on monday (i'm writing this on friday) next week. but i'm kinda pissed off at him because of what he did/said, and i want to "cool off" before i actually give it to him. i honestly feel like such a fool for caring so much when he clearly seems to not care about me at all. what should i do? should i confront him and tell him that what he did hurt me, or should i just give him the gift without saying anything about how i feel? we've known each other for 2 years. we met in grade 8 and we're in grade 10 now. i'm a girl. |

Question: Is this a fake friend? Posted: 19 Oct 2018 07:14 AM PDT Two of my friends and I set up a time to hang out. One of them didn't show up, I saw her earlier in the day we texted her to see where she's at. We Facebook message her where she is at she never answered. She stood us up. |

Question: How to ask my roommate to back off without starting a fight? Posted: 19 Oct 2018 05:11 AM PDT So my dad died recently and of course I'm a bit emotional.Mostly I've just been pretty reserved and trying to take care of myself. My roommate just doesn't understand that the loss of my father is a big deal. She told me I've been kind of a burden who only thinks about myself, among other things. She apologized recently saying she "read some things",but she didn't exactly take back the things she said. Yesterday I just stood outside of my bedroom door while she was getting ready to leave, (I was only standing there because I spend a lot of time in my room and I wanted to leave my room for a minute), and she yelled at me to leave her alone(her room is the living room,I wasn't even in the living room). I've come to accept that she is a person who will yell a lot and say mean things. The thing is, we were supposed to be friends. We moved in because we were friends. She was never this mean before. I can ignore it,but I am just not comfortable talking to her all the time beyond small talk because I feel like I'm walking on eggshells and I also just don't want to be open like that anymore. Oops it didn't post the full text. My question is, how do I tell her to give me space without starting a fight? I don't like fighting and don't have the energy for it. Because she get's mad if I simply don't talk to her much. I just want some space. |
Posted: 19 Oct 2018 04:55 AM PDT Hello I m a 17 years old girl( at highschool obviously). As any other teenager I have my own group of friends. We always get on well together but the issue is that for a year now a classmate we don t even exchange a word with has been hanging out with us uninvited. She just follows us around and doesn t talk to us,we tried engaging her in our conversations but she seemed uninterested. Even if we tried to lose her she ran after us LITERALLY ran fast . She is really weird and creepy and we think she has mental problems because she doesn t talk, she acts like a robot and did bite a guy s ear. We really want to tell her to leave us alone because we fear others will think we are crazy like her but didn t have the heart though. So basically what can we say to her that will make her distance herself from us? Does anybody have a suggestion? |

Posted: 19 Oct 2018 12:52 AM PDT i was harmlessly chatting in chat avenue tonight and my username was just the first letter of my name. and about 20 minutes later someone said... them: e... elle? them: elle, is that you?? i freaked. elle is a nickname. my camera and mic was off, at least i was never asked permission for that. i freaked and covered my camera just in case. wtf is this??? should i do something? did my computer get hacked? should i check my fb page? i SWEAR i did not give out ANY information other than my age and sex. we were talking about music artists. i am really nervous. i checked my facebook and nothing's changed |
Posted: 18 Oct 2018 11:15 PM PDT Aside from washing the socks and hair tie before returning them (which is just common sense) I was thinking to maybe bake her a mini cake, but I'm not sure if that's excessive. She seems like a cool person, and I really want to be friends with her, but because I was really sheltered as a kid and don't really know how to interact with people. |
Question: Should I cut my friend out of my life? Posted: 18 Oct 2018 09:39 PM PDT I have a friend of 7 years (our friendship began in grade school) and we are now in College. I understand that seeing each other almost everyday in grade school and high school vs. not a lot in College is what brings most friends a part. We have still been close through out College until a few months ago... she started dating a guy which she didn't tell me about, but was telling everyone of her other friends. Which kinda hurt, but I got over it. She messages me saying "We will catch up next time we see each other!" but never makes plans for us to see each other. I know for a fact she isn't busy all the time because she's always seen on her Snapchat Stories hanging out with other people, but fails to ever make plans with me. I am the one who has to make plans for us to hang out and it kind of is getting exhausting because I feel like I'm the only one pushing our friendship to last. . I have brought it up to her a couple times in the past that she should be pulling the weight in this friendship as well and she agreed, but did it once or twice and never again! I honestly, don't understand what I did for her to become like this, I feel like a terrible person.I;m tired of trying to keep this friendship going. Should I cut her out? |

Question: Why do I lose all my friends? Posted: 18 Oct 2018 08:01 PM PDT Whenever I start to get close to someone, I always end up losing them. Why is that? People always tell me that I disregard others, but I think I'm very observant and know lots about most people, even those outside of my acquaintance circle. I put in effort into my relationships, and I communicate. |

Question: Am I in the wrong? what should i do? Posted: 18 Oct 2018 07:26 PM PDT My best friend since high school decided to begin ignoring my text messages and efforts to talk to her about a month ago but continued to keep our streak on snapchat. The last day she sent me a snap for our streak after a whole weekend of ignoring my text messages about saving our friendship since she said she was busy but spent the entire weekend on snapchat, I unadded her on snap cause I didn't see a point of continuing to actively watch her pretend I didn't exist and she blocked me. I of course blocked her back and sent one final text explaining my decision. Like I said, it's been about a month now and I originally had no desire to mend our friendship but I'm having doubts. Should I try and reach out to her again or should I let it go? |
Question: Which roommate is in the wrong? Posted: 18 Oct 2018 06:23 PM PDT Let's say there are two people living together. Roommate A is a really quiet, kinda short-tempered person. They're a morning person; they like to go to bed at 11 PM and wake up at 7 AM, they're rarely home during the day, and they like the room to be quiet while they're there. They get annoyed really, really quickly when it's too loud. Their roommate is so loud that they are the reason roommate A tries to spend as little time in their own apartment as possible. Roommate B is a rather loud night owl. They go to bed at 2 AM and wake up at 9 AM. They get the room to themselves for most of the day, and they like to watch Netflix on their computer with the volume turned up, and they never use headphones, even when their roommate is there, and even when the roommate is trying to sleep. Roommate B thinks roommate A is too quiet and gets annoyed with how early they go to bed. Which roommate is in the wrong here? Is roommate A being too much of a stick-in-the-mud, or is roommate B being inconsiderate? Is roommate A overstepping their bounds by asking their roommate to use headphones, or is roommate B overstepping their bounds by asking their roommate to change their sleep schedule? It doesn't seem like either of them are willing to budge, and as it stands, it's impossible for either of them to move out. |
Question: How to get stronger and change this ****! (Please read inside)? Posted: 18 Oct 2018 06:21 PM PDT I'm 31 year old and since 7-8 years ago my life problems actually begined and increased. Loosing my job, being dropped out of house by landlord.. after it, little by little i noticed that my self worth is way decreased. I got thiner and more hairy with less hygine. In results, when people meet me in first time, they see a poor very simple and toooo honest guy with no one around as friend or relatives. So things started to really annoy me and affecting my charater.. I am clearly seeing that I'm afraid, shy and becoming negative in overall. So I want advice.. how can i change this ****? |

Question: I feel like me and my best friend are drifting apart and I need help figuring out why? Posted: 18 Oct 2018 06:12 PM PDT Me and her have a couple of classes together at school. In one of them, I'm one of the only few she knows and she sits right next to me. I thought having the clas together would be fun but she's just really irritable and defensive most of the time, and insults me even though she doesn't mean to. In the other class, she knows a lot of other people and lately she's barely said 2 words to me, and she seems happy when she's talking to them. Also, I sent her a text and she hasn't answered it yet (it's been 5ish hours) but yet, she has no problem answering texts in a group chat we're both in. Am I paranoid? Opinions? |
Posted: 18 Oct 2018 06:05 PM PDT Me: Hey are you guys in Cambridge? Her: yes Me: Oh ok how long will you guys be there for? Her: midnight Me: Oh ok, I think I am just going to head home and jump in the shower and go to bed early This conversation occurred over Facebook Messanger at 8PM. And she was in front of her laptop and gets FB messenger notifications on it, as well as on her phone. (Which she is always using) |
Question: Was she being rude by saying this to me? Posted: 18 Oct 2018 05:53 PM PDT In the morning, my friend had invited me to go with her and her other friend to a Coffee shop at night when I got out of tutoring. Was her responses rude? Did it sound like she didn't really want me there? Or hard to tell? Me: Hey are you guys in Cambridge? Her: yes Me: Oh ok how long will you guys be there for? Her: midnight Me: Oh ok, I think I am just going to head home and jump in the shower and go to bed early "She saw it" No response from her Did this sound shady to you? The reason I said I was going to go home instead is because she has fb messenger on both her laptop and phone, in which she gets notifications and she was both on her phone & laptop at the time I messaged her in which she was slow to respond. It was 8 Pm when this conversation occurred on Facebook messenger |
