I come from an upper middle class family that is decently rich and she comes from a family that is lower class and doesn't have much money. I graduated from community college last year and I plan to get a decent job one day with my degree but it will only be a teaching job so I won't be making very much and she never went to college and is not planning to. I know it sounds like a jerk for me to say this but I have always been taught by my family and in school (finance classes) that money matters in a reltionship I just don't know what to do. |

We were in a long distance relationship and we were committed. His parents were never accepting of our relationship though. I was told the timing that was wrong , so we broke up 5 weeks ago. He told me that he didn't tell his parents we broke up because he wants to still try to make this work although he said no promises. He does still text me occasionally because he told me he still wants to stay in touch . He broke up with me because his parents haven't been approving, accepting of our relationship, after fighting for so many months. He told me he still wants to try but can't make promises since his parents don't change their minds after making a decision. He says he just doesn't want to drag me on any longer knowing that his parents are still not approving and thinks it isn't fair for me to have to keep waiting. Even if we got back together, we both know we wont be able to see each other, knowing that he can't fly over to me because of his parents and my family wouldn't welcome him to my house because of his parent's decision. We come from the same country, religion, and culture and I've treated him with nothing but care and love. What more could they ask for? The only thing I agree with them on is the fact that he graduated from med school just last month (I attended his graduation btw and spent it with his family) and doesn't have a job yet, but he will be applying within a few months. |
