Question: What do I do when my dad is too demanding? Posted: 07 Sep 2018 01:40 PM PDT He wants me to do everything absolutely perfectly, he almost never pays attention to the good things I do, and usually when me and my parents are arguing then he blames everything on me. Today I gave my hamster food a little bit later than I usually do and he screamed at me that I don't care about the hamster and said that he will also start giving me food later than usually. And since I am a teenager I am only expected to listen to my parents and not be allowed to decide anything at home... |
Question: Is the world as dangerous as my father makes it? He is extremely overprotective of me.? Posted: 07 Sep 2018 01:13 PM PDT I'm a 16 year old boy. My father is VERY overprotective. Over summer, I stay home alone every morning before my parents get off work. My father doesn't like to leave me home alone. My father calls my phone three times to make sure I'm okay. He always tells me, "Please be careful there by yourself. If you hear someone trying to break in, call 911 immediately. Always listen out." Every time before I go out, my dad always tells me, "Walk with your head up and your chest out! Don't look weak! Don't look scared! People will try to harm you if they think you're an easy target. Please be safe." When I go out he calls me quite frequently to make sure I'm okay. He's reluctant to let me go in stores by myself to buy things. He always tells me, "I want you to be careful." One time I went into a gas station by myself to buy some gloves, and my father rushed in to make sure I was okay. One time when I was out with him, I wanted to go inside a clothing store by myself to buy a few items. My father said, "No! I don't trust you shopping alone!" He asked me what I wanted and he proceeded to go in the store and buy it for me. He watches me like a hawk when I go out. My father is extremely overprotective and paranoid. It's very irritating and annoying. I'm growing up to be an adult and he is smothering me too much. I understand he does it because he loves me, but he needs to back off a bit and allow me to breathe. He's not going to be around forever, so I have to start fending for myself. |
Question: How to convince my family to take me on an overseas vacation? Posted: 07 Sep 2018 12:47 PM PDT so this sort of relates to my other ask (https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20180906201215AAT9S2i) but this one is a bit more normal. i really want to meet my datefriend (my parents don't know we're dating tho) for the first time, and i'd really like to go to the alton towers theme park with them. like i said in that other ask, it really is taking over me with what i've found is called 'fernweh', or 'farsickness' so the question is, how do i convince my mom and/or my dad to take me on a long trip to england? here are my ideas [but i desperately need more] 1. make sure to ask for dates during the summer, so i won't miss school 2. my mom is a travel agent, so casually mention the discounts she gets on hotel rooms and/or airline tickets 3. see if my datefriend's parents have extra rooms, and then "maybe we can stay at their place instead of buying hotel rooms" 4. casually mention alton towers as "a really cool theme park we should visit", not necessarily the #1 much needed destination. 5. repeat over and over that ive made 90-103 on all of my tests [103 on a science test i thought i would fail bless] so, how do you feel about those? anything else i can do? please and thank you! |
Question: How to deal with being homesick? Posted: 07 Sep 2018 12:05 PM PDT me and my mom are moving in with my aunt next month and im not a fan, i feel like im gonna have a panic attack. how do i deal with this?? help |
Question: Why is my mom so ANNOYING? Posted: 07 Sep 2018 11:36 AM PDT I'm almost 18, I'm 17 and I'm an adult! Here's the problem. She won't let me go to the movies at midnight because she's scared that during the night there is more violence. Is she stupid? |
Question: Is it normal for your parents to not be there for you when you're an adult? Posted: 07 Sep 2018 10:46 AM PDT Just a question, if you're going through hard times as an adult, through no fault of your own, like a not at fault car accident, are your parents supportive and there for you? I see a lot of parents are really there for their kids, even for trivial things. I'm just wondering why my parents are never there for me? I was in a severe accident caused by someone else, and my parents asked if I was ok or needed anything, and I said not at the moment. But I haven't heard from them in 4 months? No call backs, how are you doing, or anything.... Is this normal? Then when I call them to tell them what a hard time I'm having from the accident, all they say is, well, get a job and I'm sorry this is happening to you??? I LOST MY JOB because of the accident and haven't been able to work due to my injuries??!?! Why would they say this/??? Yet they wait on hand and foot for my other siblings, and my sister in law. I feel like now that I'm older and moved out they could care less about me. |
Question: Have you ever received a sign from a deceased loved one? Posted: 07 Sep 2018 10:16 AM PDT Would like to hear other stories. A best friend of mine commited suicide a year ago. Haven't spoken to him in a few years because he got married, had a kid and moved out of state so we kind of lost touch. But I was devastated when I heard of his death. When we were teenagers, he had a brand new bright yellow sports car that he bought himself and he was so proud of it. It's a rare car and color combo that I've never seen on the streets before. My friend also had a very rare and unique name and I've never met anyone with his name before. A few weeks ago, I was driving on the freeway and this bright yellow sports car, the same car and color that he had. And the license plates read his name on them. I immediately got goosebumps and felt like it was a sign that he was with me. What are the chances of driving past this rare car and color with his rare name on it?? Still gives me goosebumps. Anyone have any similar stories? |

Question: How to deal with embarrassing narcissistic mother? Posted: 07 Sep 2018 09:42 AM PDT My mom disgust me! I'm in my 30s and she's been abusive my entire life. The best way I can describe her is like the mom from the movie "million dollar baby" (that's exactly how she is and she's proud of it) and to make matters worse my older sister can be that way too. I moved cross country to distance myself from her but she still finds a way to embarrass and drain me. The other day she called me and I avoided her call, I told her I was working out and would call her back later yet she proceeds to ignore me and call back 5 minutes later. I answer the phone to see what she wants and she literally says " I know things are rough for you right now but don't feel bad everybody struggles sometimes, I'll send you $100 when I get paid to help you out a bit because I know things are rough for you right now"....OMG she pisses me off! She always does this in public so people can assume the worst about me (which is why she couldn't wait to talk later) and sometimes she does it at work. When I tell her I'm fine and don't need anything she insist but the kicker is she actually never sends anything at all she just wants people to think otherwise. She is bi-polar and spends my grandmother's money on shopping for herself but tries to cover it by pretending like she has to help me out. She gets on my nerves with that so bad, any advice? |
Question: Why is my younger brother afraid of me this much? Posted: 07 Sep 2018 08:43 AM PDT Before you guys assume I'm American or live in U.S, I'm not. ---------------- We're two sisters and one brother. My sister is 17 and I'm 15 while our brother is 6. I'm the one who tutors him at home and helps him with his homework while my sister does the chores. Getting back to the topic, since I'm his tutor; I end up losing it and yell at him when he keeps making the same mistake and occasionally end up hitting him (not badly). Now even if I smile at him, he'll cower or start crying startling people around him including myself. But when he's with our older sister, he's a happy go lucky child and always sitting on her lap and playing (which makes me kinda jealous). Even my parents use me as a bait now. like if he isn't eating properly, they'll just tell him that I'm coming for him and he'll start eating with tears in his eyes. Yes I'm a bad sister I admit but I love him more than the others and I don't want him to be afraid of me and see me as a sister instead of a tyrant. I SWORE TO GOD THAT I WON'T HIT HIM OR YELL AT HIM EVER AGAIN. |
Question: Why are my parents so different from other parents? (LONG)? Posted: 07 Sep 2018 07:28 AM PDT See image below for the details because they're too long. I need serious answers. I'm really upset about coming back from my hometown after only 3 weeks. @Lili LOOOOL one person said this about you "The contributor called Lili claims all kinds of academic qualifications. Anyone who overly boasts like she does is overcompensating. She likely has none of the qualifications she boasts about. Everyone else seems fairly honest and humble about their qualifications, or lack thereof, that they bring to answering questions in this category." check this question's last answer https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20170616061953AATXmQT |

Question: Is it normal for a parent to not have friends or a social life? Posted: 07 Sep 2018 05:39 AM PDT My father has no friends or social life. He doesn't talk to his coworkers outside of work. He has no buddies to go grab a drink with. He goes to work and come home every single day. He comes home, goes to his room, and watches TV or go on the computer. He goes out for car rides every weekend by himself. My mother will tag along with him sometimes. Him and my mother don't spend much time together. He'll take her out to dinner or go to the movies with her every once in a while. In the summer, he goes fishing with his brothers sometimes. However, that's about it. As far as his hobbies, the only ones that I know he likes to do are fishing and car rides. Which are not very social. My father is 53. He's been like this for as long as I can remember. I was just wondering is this normal for a parent? |

Question: Why did mom insult me when I was overweight? Posted: 06 Sep 2018 09:49 PM PDT When i was 13 and was 10 pounds overweight my mom just insults me to lose weight. She called me cow and she said no man like fat on a woman. Everyone want to look good but why was mom so me about it? |
Question: Is it weird that I didn’t want to be all alone with my brother in law? Posted: 06 Sep 2018 09:25 PM PDT I'm a 24 year old female. My brother in law is a super sweet guy and Isn't a perv or anything by any means. Long story short, he was planning to cook dinner tonight for himself and I since my sister is working night shift and wouldn't be there (I've been spending the last few nights at their place- long story). I ended up coming up with an excuse because I didn't feel comfortable being completely alone with him without my sister being there. Keep in mind though that I also have slight social anxiety lol Would you have also felt uncomfortable in my position? Or am I just a weirdo? Lol |
Question: Dad smokes secretly?? :/? Posted: 06 Sep 2018 07:24 PM PDT My dad's 53, and since I can remember he's always gone outside every night for "walks." But about a year ago, I needed help w my homework or something, so I looked through the front door window and saw him just sitting in a chair with smoke coming up. I told my sister and she actually had the courage to ask if he was smoking. He quickly laughed it off and said it was his breath from the cold air... now a year later, he sits on his bedroom deck instead of downstairs. I know for sure he smokes bc he put a small tin trash can out there, he always smells like smoke at night, and tonight I saw the glow of his cigarette from the window. I'm assuming my mom knows about it because they share a room and a deck, but I'm surprised she hasn't done anything about it bc her mom died of lung cancer from smoking. :( now I'm not sure how long my dad has been doing this or how many cigs he smokes a day, but he also drinks a lot of alcohol and I'm just worried about his health. Work stresses him out a lot and he's getting two hip replacements soon and idk I just want my old man to be good n healthy;(( |

Question: Why my mom obsessed with being beautiful? Posted: 06 Sep 2018 06:29 PM PDT Mom is almost 50 and she put pressure on me to look good since I was 13 ( so i get rich husband). Question: Is being adopted linked to child behavioural issues? Posted: 06 Sep 2018 04:41 PM PDT Parkland's school shooter was adopted, had lots of mental health problems and behavioural problems. While his results are very rare, some people speculate that being ADOPTED is partially the issue.. The people who adopted him were perfectly normal and functional. I looked it up and apparently "Adopted Child Syndrome is a thing". Increased rates of bullying, stealing, low academic grades, emotionally crippled, attachment disorders, drugs, alcohol etc. It's still very rare but the statistics are still higher. |
Question: How do I destroy my sister s iPad Pro without anyone knowing I did so? Posted: 06 Sep 2018 03:55 PM PDT So my sister has this iPad Pro, and all she does is play the Worst music, and draws furry cringe on it. I ve been thinking of just ending it. Me and my sister live with our parents so I need to do it so that she cannot fix it, and also cannot know it was me who broke it. Would setting the date to January 1st 1970 work? Is there some virus you guys can link me to?, and btw, I do not have a drivers licence or allowance, so I cannot go out to buy things without my parents. should I just borrow the iPad and "accidentally" drop it on a hard surface? My parents would kill me if they found out and I do NOT want them to know! HELP! |
Question: With both my parents being alcoholic could CPS take me away if I was under 18? Posted: 06 Sep 2018 03:53 PM PDT I am 22 and living with my aunt. |
Question: I think I'm slowly starting to resent my family? Posted: 06 Sep 2018 12:41 PM PDT I sometimes honestly think I hate my family. My mother doesn't work but she's constantly out and making me watch my three siblings. They're 6, 5, and 4 with the oldest having epilepsy and comprehending at a half age level while the 5 year old may have autism. My stepdad is borderline abusive and does nothing around the house but sleep and scream at the kids. Both of them have been to jail numerous times for arguments getting out of hand and they have restraining orders against each other but live together. Meanwhile I'm trying to deal with my own mental issues with no access to therapy because I go to school and work 8-14 hours days while trying to care for my siblings. But anywhere I go for help I'm just told I'm overreacting and I need to think of it from their point of view or its not as bad as I'm trying to make it seem. |
Question: Why do my parents get mad when me and my sister swear at each other? Posted: 06 Sep 2018 10:11 AM PDT my mom and dad cuss at each other all the time. What is the difference. This is a lot like a double standard. |
Posted: 06 Sep 2018 09:59 AM PDT My mom failed 3 at home drug tests and 3 drug tests with child protective services she tested positive for morphine I believe. My dad is actually the Called child protective services. Somehow she passed the hair drug test. She claims she was taking cold medicine that's why she failed the test. I've noticed her odd behavior. When she's driving she always closes her eyes. I always have to shake her and she gets mad at me for asking if she's taking opiates. I was at therapy with my dad yesterday. My dad brought up her strange behavior to my therapist he explained he believes she's using again because he noticed her odd behavior such as closing eyes, rubbing her arms. The best way I can describe it Is that she looks like she's had too much to drink. My therapist said if he doesn't call child protective services she will have to. I deep down know that she probably has a problem with pills but I don't want to believe it. She swears up and down that she doesn't take pills. But my therapist told me that's what addicts do. I feel so bad about myself knowing that any day child protective services will be showing up at our door and I knew this whole time. I feel like I failed her. But I don't want her driving my siblings around if she is high. Btw the last time child protective services came she hid in the closet and told us to tell them she has at the grocery store. |
Question: Don't you hate Caillou ? Posted: 06 Sep 2018 09:57 AM PDT My sister use to love Caillou I never cares much for him I only watched it with her or just to make fun of him she's 19 she still watches it she's watching it right now. I think Caillou is the stupidest kid ever yet it's not him who bothers me it's his whipped free pansy-*** parents who clearly don't bother spanking their kids if Caillou was my kid he get his *** spanked a time out every time he threw one of his trademark fits. He's so whiny no kid I know whines that much not even my sister whined that much when she was little. Also why is he bald even bis 2 year old sister and his 100 year old grandma and grandpa and cat have hair. He must have cancer especially the way his parents treat him he has those loveable drugged free parents every kid probably dreams about. All he does is whine and beg until he gets what he wants. He can even go to an old man neighbors sisters farm to pick some apples and milk the cows with no parent supervision. Also his parents said he was going to school after his next birthday which did happen but only for a year until he died. I bet Rosie is the narrator who's telling her grandkids about the adventures of her brother who died before he turned 5 hint her grandson said in one episode " Grandma read us a story about Caillou ". Rosie was too little when Caillou passed so her parents made his life into a story book so now she reads them to her grandkids. Don't you hate Caillou ? |
Posted: 06 Sep 2018 09:29 AM PDT I'm 19 and my brother is 23. I got my first car after I was finish with high school. I was working part-time since I was 15 and I also had some online jobs. Anyways, my car is a Camaro and it sure does waste a lot of gas. But I made a decision that I'm only going to use my car to go to my University and home during Monday-Friday. And on the weekends probably just to the mall or some fun place that I might like. So basically, there is no need for my car to waste a lot of gasoline if I'm doing that decision. The problem is that my brother's car engine does not work so he is currently using my car and he is using it a lot. He is wasting so much gasoline and he expects me to give MY OWN MONEY for gasoline when this is my car. I decided to just give him my money because I've got no choice since I need this car to go to my University and so I can have some fun during the weekends. My brother also told me that once he has enough money to fix his car engine, he will gladly stop using my car. Anyways, is there something that I can do so he can stop using my car too much? When his car was working, he was using it a lot so I don't blame him for this. What can you do? And my parents won't let him use their cars since they have to go to certain places throughout the day. |
Question: Why doesn't my mother support my dreams? Posted: 06 Sep 2018 08:24 AM PDT I don't understand why my mother doesn't support my current projects and dreams? I live with her and I am attending university for art and worked on a very special painting to me last summer, I had tried showing her photos of the painting that I took as it was coming along and she kept shooing me away and saying it's not the right time for her to see the photos, her favorite movie was on TV. I never showed her the photos again. This year my painting was selected to be shown in an exhibition in New York and I asked her if she will come, she said maybe. This week I was excited to go and have a book signed by one of my favorite modern artists of which I told her about only to have been told by my mom "Do you personally know her? Why are you so excited? Do you know how many fans she has just like you?" I didn't understand the basis of her comment or what other people have to do with my joy of meeting the artist. Last night she was watching TV until 1am loudly and I couldn't go to sleep so I sked her to lower the volume a few times until she finally said "Even if you shoot yourself, I won't turn the volume down." All of this has made me so sad. |
Question: Why are christians dumb ? Posted: 06 Sep 2018 07:07 AM PDT My mom saw my oil pen that i use to take CBD out in my apartment. I use it to help with my nerve pain. Question: Are my relatives cowards? Would you be upset? Posted: 06 Sep 2018 05:57 AM PDT I'm 36 years old, my Mom hates my boyfriend because he's a lot older than me. We are in love, but she doesn't take it seriously. Well, some of my family members support me. However I was told on the phone yesterday by one of them "I'm here if I need to talk, but let's keep it a secret please don't tell your Mom"… It kind of hurt me, I feel like a "secret friend". At the family reunion, my cousin apologized to my Mom about giving me advice and assured her he's not taking sides but two weeks prior he said "I see nothing wrong with it". He told me, that he isn't getting involved anymore.. Which kind of stung, because he was the first family member I confided in about this… At the family reunion, my Mom gave their family the silent treatment.. So now I feel like they are all trying to get on her good side and tell her what she wants to hear. My Mom is a narcissist and gets offended when people disagree with her. I decided I'm not speaking to them again about this situation.. I permanently deleted my facebook, and I'm not inviting them into this situation anymore… I'll speak to friends and people outside of family. They all just seem so fake to me. |

Question: Are fathers needed for children when they are growing up? Posted: 05 Sep 2018 10:21 PM PDT While I can see why a mother is needed, I don't see why a father is needed in someone's life. Mothers are the ones that carried the baby in their body for about 9 months and they breastfeed them, so a child is way more likely to have a way stronger bond with his or her mother than his or her father. Fathers are NOT needed in 99 percent of all species (including mammals), while nearly all mothers are. The role mothers play in child development is critical across all sexually reproducing life. A child can functionally survive without a father, but is catastrophically impacted by the absence of a mother. One painfully clear example of this is the harrowing experiences of children brought up in Bulgarian orphanages who do not develop strong maternal bonds with their caretakers (I'd recommend looking it up and watching the BBC Channel 4 documentary on this topic). The statistics on motherless children are truly horrifying. I think the impact of an absent father is harder to assess and compare to that of an absent mother because the potential value of a father is much more fluid. For instance, we can say with a great deal of certainty that a bad mother is better than no mother at all, but we cannot say that a bad father is better than no father at all. |
Posted: 05 Sep 2018 08:59 PM PDT I have two daughters, ages 4 and 6 years old. I think exposing sexualized content can be harmful to children. Many people don't share the same worry as me. In fact, I'm labelled as the overprotective mom. They have their teen years to worry about body image. I don't want to put ideas on their heads at such a young age. There have been young girls with serious mental health issues after being sexualized during early childhood. I mean, I don't mind flipping through magazines and seeing beauty pageants once in a while! They can be quite fun and creative. But MOST of the time, I'd rather see something else with the girls. I'm just thinking about the negative consequences that the fashion or media industry has on little kids, and even teenagers. |
Question: Do we have to tell on him??? Posted: 05 Sep 2018 07:28 PM PDT One of my brother's friends just ran away from home and showed up at our house. And he's been acting really weird lately. He's super irritable, hasnt been eating or sleeping and is barely talking (hes normally overly talkative) My dad's been trying to talk to him and convince him to go back and my mom keeps suggesting to call CPS. And he freaks out everytime literally crying a begging them not to call anyone. My brother and I asked him what's going on and why he left and he just said he couldnt stay there anymore. We know he and his dad get into a lot of physical fights but that's nothing new and it's no big secret. But he's really freaking out now and wouldn't say anything about why, so we told him he has to say or we'll have to take him to the hospital (and they'll more than likely call his parents anyway) so now he's talking about leaving. We dont really know what to do atm. He's being so erratic. He's 15 btw. Should we call someone, take him back. What should we do??? |
Question: When is it too old to live with your parents? Posted: 05 Sep 2018 07:23 PM PDT I would be 26 by the time I get my bachelors degree but still need to get a job and save money. I still have about 4 years left to complete my degree because of prerequisites classes I need to take. Would 27 or 28, even 29 be old to still be living at your parents house but if your planning to move out soon |
Question: Do you think Tom Brady has been a good dad to his oldest son by his ex? Posted: 05 Sep 2018 06:19 PM PDT I remember thinking he'd be a deadbeat dad. But it looks like he is actually a pretty good dad. And it looks like he, Gisele and his ex have nailed coparenting. |

Posted: 05 Sep 2018 04:57 PM PDT He led me to believe he would do something for me and once again deceived me. My Mom's old buddy Bill is the same way, deceptive, which is why she broke up with him. So how do I move on and not feel offended and hurt but not rely on him anymore? |
Posted: 05 Sep 2018 04:54 PM PDT All in my Mom's family are affected by her. It is like a cancer on the family. All differ on how to respond and whether to fight back, ignore, or embrace and worship her. So is this tension normal in a narcissistic family when the one aunt is the only narcissist? |

Question: My mom is freaking out over nothing!? Posted: 05 Sep 2018 03:18 PM PDT So basically, in school we did a "getting to know you" worksheet, and I wrote down stuff about me. But when I get home, my mom reads it and says "this is horrible, you wrote down terrible answers". Then she went on saying all this crap. "You wrote messy" "your answers were wacky too" "you wrote down HACKING?!" And so on. My answers to those questions were just things about myself. We learned hacking and coding in a class of mine last year! My major! So what if I I said it like this "I know how to hack into games". It's true! They're just cheats in the game nothing too bad! Why is she freaking out??? She even said the rest of my answers were DIABOLICAL! WTHHHHH! |
