Question: My mother keeps criticizing me? Posted: 08 Sep 2018 02:02 PM PDT I am 23 yo and came to Canada from Europe alone over 5 years ago. I finished a college program here and now work in my field. I do not depend from my family financially, but my mother is always pressuring me with thing like:" You need to obtain a better diploma, you have to be successful, you have to find a job thag would make you more money, you have to bla bla bla bla". No real advice, just the critics. What is more, she is criticizing my music taste saying that it is too primitive (I like electronic/trance music). We have really big conflicts over Skype regarding all that stuff. Sometimes it feels like she doesn't accept who I am that makes me feel really sad and embarrassed. How to deal with that? ☆ Sent from iOS Dr. Know! 1.1.04 |
Question: Should I get involved if my 14 year old got into a verbal fight with an 18 year old? Posted: 08 Sep 2018 11:45 AM PDT It appears as if my daughter talked back when the older girl yelled at her. I don't know the whole story. Here's the thing, the 9th grade population is TWICE as high as the seniors' at the school. And they are not segregated. I'm hearing that the older kids are desperately trying to show the younger teens that it's "their year". However, they are pretty outnumbered this year and freshmen are everywhere. There has been several incidents of the older students getting frustrated at the freshmen — not just the one with my daughter. |
Question: Is this crossing the boundary ? Posted: 08 Sep 2018 11:13 AM PDT I'm a young adult who goes to college and works nights. I was in bed earlier half alseep. I saw my dad come in and he took a photo of me with the flash on. I said "what are you doing" ? He said "Trying to wake you up with the flash". |
Question: Why does my mom say its sad how desperate i am to get out of church this weekend ? Posted: 08 Sep 2018 10:49 AM PDT My grandma is coming to visit and she always drags us to church my dad said " I'm not going to be here this weekend I'm going fishing" so i said" take me with you" then my mom said " but you hate fishing" so i said " yea but i hate church more and it will give me the perfect opportunity to try out my new camera" so dad said " sure you can come" then my mom said" its sad how desperate you are to get out of church". |
Question: Why is family suddenly poor ? Posted: 08 Sep 2018 09:56 AM PDT My mom and dad's salary combine for approximately 285,000 a year but they don't have the money to take me school shopping, grocery shopping, or the money to pay for my homecoming ticket. It's like we've suddenly gone poor... I don't want to sound spoiled but it's concerning seeing people that make almost 300,000 a year struggle to put food on the table and clothes on their child's back. |
Question: Have I done something wrong? Why did my mother do that? Posted: 08 Sep 2018 09:22 AM PDT I'm a 19 year old female. There's a man in our class, who's much older than me. He even came with his girlfriend to the class. So, our French teacher told us each to write a story in French and read it in front of everyone. That man's story was very funny. We all laughed at what he had written. After that he gave me his story as a gift and I said thanks. When I came back home, I told my mother that Alex (That man) gave his story to me. She suddenly whispered into my ears that I shouldn't say anything about my male friends in front of my brother. Now, I'm constantly blaming myself for what I did. I thought it was just a friendly behaviour for fun. My brother is 27 years old, by the way. |
Question: What is wrong with my cousin? Posted: 08 Sep 2018 09:08 AM PDT Today I talked with my cousin about something, just about some casual things. We didn't see each other for a long time. I noticed that while she was speaking to me, she pronounced some words like a baby. With other people she talks normally. Because of that I felt like I was mentally undeveloped person which cannot understand other people unless they talked to me like that. She is like 4-5 or 6 years older than me. I'm 24. I mean what the heck? |
Question: Mom won’t let me take a day off from work? Posted: 08 Sep 2018 09:07 AM PDT So okay, I am a junior in high school. I have ACT and SAT to do, I am in one act, and in girls golf. I work at a grocery store at a salad bar. It's not even that bad of a job, it just gets long. Standing all evening making salads. Anyways, I wanted to take a day or two off so I can catch up on homework. I seriously don't like having to get home from practice then truck it up to work, which the five minutes I'm at home, I grab a bar for supper and leave. I get home at 10:30 every night. Then my mom makes me go to bed and then I don't even have time to do my homework. I know I'm in a lot of stuff already but I seriously need a day off! I just want to relax but also have some fun. And my mom is getting angry about it, like she cussed me type of angry. Somebody pleeeeeeease help |
Question: How is banning abortions helpful? Posted: 08 Sep 2018 07:57 AM PDT Will people forced to raise an unplanned child suddenly step up and be the best parents possible? How can you assure that the child won't be abanndoned? abused? neglected? |
Question: Mother is getting on my nerves? Posted: 08 Sep 2018 07:48 AM PDT First of all I'm moving next month waiting on housing to pull through. Second of all my mother gets no income but bitches and complains about the bills after my sister and I pay the bills - we give her $500 a month in bill money , but continues to ***** and complain after she spends this money on unnecessary stuff non bill related. I moved in with my mother to help her, but she continues to complain even after helping her. My mother was never in my life and never raised me or my sisters. We moved into help her because she fell sick. I don't know why she doesn't have an income nor do I care not my problem- I wish she does to help herself- she is refusing to get help for herself , but vents her problems on everyone My mother has been out of work 2 years and yes me and my sister did there is no housing available right now- I get over $1000 a month. My mother can't maintain her bills because she has ZERO INCOME If I move out she loses her home she can maintain it but if I'm paying rent than NO - if I don't giver her bill money how will she maintain her bills? Moving out next week - she loses her home |
Question: Is it fair what the school is doing to my daughter? Posted: 08 Sep 2018 07:26 AM PDT I got a call from my daughter's high school that they wanted to discuss a problem with me. That was really surprising as she had never been any trouble before. The principal told me that the school had a problem with my daughter tutoring math. The only had room for a fixed number of students where she was doing the tutoring. Each semester they would post a sign up sheet for the tutoring. It turns out that most of the people that signed up were guys who did not need any tutoring. Most of the guys were A students that just wanted to get to know my daughter better. He said I can understand why these guys would want to get to know her better because she is beautiful girl. He said they were going to have to get someone else to do the tutoring so girls could get the math help they need. I know my daughter is going to be disappointed that she is being dumped. This just does not seem fair. I asked why they just don't kick the guys out that don't need tutoring and they told me they were afraid they would be accused of discriminating against boys. I think if my daughter could say she was a math tutor in high school, it will help her get in the college of her choosing. Parents (and high school girls) please give me your thoughts on this. Are they treating my daughter fairly? What should I do if anything? |
Question: My father gets really moody when on vacation. How do I avoid this next time we travel? Posted: 08 Sep 2018 06:33 AM PDT He is irritable, sarcastic, and upset over things we (my sisters and I) do that are not bad. He is nice all other times and was fine when just he and I traveled alone but that was just for 3 days. So when the family travels next how do I keep his wrath down? It will be spring break most likely. I am 14 and a boy. |
Question: Living with my brother really scares me and i can’t take it anymore.? Posted: 08 Sep 2018 03:38 AM PDT I am 15 and My brother is 32 years old and he doesn't work. He has been smoking more than a pack of cigarettes a day for a while. He doesn't have any friends and doesn't go out of the house unless he wants to buy cigarettes. I have seen him talking to himself alot and laughing for no reason in a really scary way. Like he is talking to someone that we can't see. My mom once found an excessive amount of blood in his underpants. He watchs porn 24/7 and masturbates all the time. He sleeps all day and wakes up all night. When my sister was a child he tried to sexually harass her. Now she is 24 and they haven't talked to each other since then. His situation is getting worst day by day. He eats ice everyday alot and that really scares me. Once i was changing my clothes and i found him behind the door looking at me. I didn't talk to my mom about it. He is so dirty and doesn't shave. He really looks like a serial killer. He once told me lets go somewhere alone where no one can find us. When he were in college he used to fight with my mom alot and he once tried to suffocate her. When my mom asks him about his health he gets really angry in scary way. My dad has benn living in another country since the day i was born. His work is there. I am really afraid that my brother might kill us one day since i heard stories about many people that suffer from mental illnesses killing thier families for no reason. |

Question: I’m being overworked? Posted: 08 Sep 2018 01:04 AM PDT Now before I start I have to say I love my mother to death. And she owns a deli and I've been working there every Saturday and Sunday for about 7 months for about 5-6 hours. But this year is my Senior year and I'm trying to focus primary on school so I can get into the college I want to. But my mom is forcing me to work at the store for Saturday and Sunday and I understand that she's struggling and I have worked the past 5 months without receiving any money so essentially working for free just so she gets to keep her money. And I think my moms been taking advantage of that and is starting to make me wake up at 1 am to help her prep the bagels. School just started and I already have hw and I don't want to be up at 1 am to 10 every Saturday and Sunday. She said that it's only for a month till another guy comes back from vacation but I've been losing my mind. I wake up 5:30am everyday for school and come back at 2:30pm and then on top of that work Saturday and Sunday. I have no time to do what I want and I haven't had a good nights rest since Sophomore year. Everytime I ask her for just one day off she complains and says no. I don't understand why I work for free and I'm better than then the workers that get paid. All I ask for is just one day off. Am I being a wuss? What are your guys thoughts. |
Posted: 08 Sep 2018 12:48 AM PDT I have no idea why this kid is "popular". Everyone is raging over how she dyed her long hair with blonde highlights. It seems so silly to me!! Younger kids started looking up to this girl, her peers follow her around and older teens decided that this 12 year old is cool enough to be around them. This happened shortly after 7th grade. This is my daughter's classmate that she talks about a lot. |

Question: Why my aunt copycats her brother's wife? Posted: 07 Sep 2018 10:27 PM PDT My aunt copy what her brother's wife wears and what schools she put her children in. Since her brother's wife put her kids in private school, my aunt decided to put her kids in private school too. |
Question: Why does it seem like late elementary aged and middle schoolers are the “new teens”? Posted: 07 Sep 2018 09:34 PM PDT These 10-12 year olds act like how 16 year olds would've behaved in the early 2000's! Are kids growing up too fast? Or is it just that older teens aren't maturing as fast as before, so it seems like there's a contrast? Based on how the children act, dress and their social media profiles...they resemble teens way more than their actual age. They claim to have 1-2 year relationships, for starters (hey, childhood "dating" only lasted a week when I was that age!!). Their outfits are much more stylish and mature from typically teen stores. Some children are even so-called "social media MODELS" when they are too young to be on there. It's like they don't go through the awkward stage in middle school. |
Question: How can i get my 40 yr old cousin to like me as im in my 20s? Posted: 07 Sep 2018 09:22 PM PDT I am a girl and i like my cousin and used to fantasize on him years ago. He is single apparently. |

Question: Why mom was mean to me when I was fat? Posted: 07 Sep 2018 08:07 PM PDT I was thin still I was 13, and I gained 10 pounds. I wasnt that fat, I just need 10 pounds to lose. Well people teased me whenever we went and mom started to insult me and mom called me cow and that no man will take me. When i 16 I lost weight, but I am hurt. Mom is hard on herself to be thin too but why mom so mean? |
Posted: 07 Sep 2018 07:25 PM PDT I'm also only going to send her a brief text in the afternoon and not call her bc she's not worth it. I deleted most of the images I have of her and will now refuse to ever check on her! I am entering a famous beauty pageant and will not tell her! Even if I win the state title! What else can I do |

Question: I got beaten up for cutting a capsicum? Posted: 07 Sep 2018 06:34 PM PDT I asked my mom to make me a sandwich because I was hungry and she told me to do it my self. I got a capsicum and asked how do I cut it and she wouldn't answer because her phone is more important. So I tried cutting it and the plate beneath it broke and she came yelling and hitting me really hard (we are Asian). This was yesterday and I haven't spoken a word to her, it's the afternoon and I can only stuff my self with chocolate and chips because she won't make me anything. I'm not trying again to make something my self. What do I do |

Question: Need tips on how to life after moving out? Posted: 07 Sep 2018 03:13 PM PDT I'm 17 years old and have been trying to go professional all my life (which is almost 12 years) in the sport of tennis. I'm at the point where there is nothing happening and there are no results. My parents think I should stop and are telling me that they spent way too much money on me. I want to move out an get a job. My problems for this are that I don't have a car since I've been traveling Europe. And I'm homeschooled which means my education is only good enough for a community college. |

Question: Does anyone else eat judged for being family oriented? Posted: 07 Sep 2018 02:39 PM PDT So I come from a large family, I have 12+ cousins who I'm very close to. My family has always been able to just hang out with one another and be like a group of friends. A year or two ago my family really became my whole world after I started to be left out from my friends. I hung out with my cousins more and just spent way more time with family. Like most families we have traditions. One of those traditions is going to my high schools Friday night game all together. But my new group of friends cannot understand why I'd rather sit with my family than them. They say that since I spend so much time with my family I'll eventually get bored with them. They say I'm missing out on valuable high school memories and I'll regret it. I personally highly doubt I will because the memories of spending that time with my family will be worth it. But this isn't the first time I've been told my family was too involved with me. Since I was little my friends would tell me I talked too much about my family or I spent too much time with them. I've met few people who see their extended family on a regular basis so I'm wondering if anyone else has ever been criticized for being so family oriented? |
Question: What should be my reaction to what my ex husband did? Posted: 07 Sep 2018 12:49 PM PDT My mother has been wanting a face lift for many years. She just did not have the money to pay for one. So I was really surprised when she called me and told me the face lift was scheduled. I ask her where she got to money to pay for it. She just said a friend gave her the money for it. I asked her who the friend was and she did not want to tell me. I finally got it out or her. She told me she mentioned to my ex husband Tom that she wanted the face lift and he arranged for the best plastic surgeon in our area to do it. I can understand this as this is totally in character with Tom. If someone needs help and he can help, he will do it no matter what anyone else thinks. Mom REALLY liked Tom when we were married but she never mentioned him after our divorce. I thought their friendship ended with our divorce. I guess I was wrong about that. Mom had the face lift, it was a total success and she looks beautiful. The face lift made her VERY HAPPY for which I am grateful. However my sisters are mad at my ex husband Tom because they say he just did this for mom to make us all look bad and cheap. My take on this is that if mom is happy, I don't care what his reasons for doing it were? Please tell me what you think about what my mom did (letting my ex pay for it) and how my siblings are reacting to it. Do they have a valid point that Tom did this to make us all look bad? |
Posted: 07 Sep 2018 03:53 AM PDT Well technically he's my cousin but we're like best bro's. We're both guys. For some reason he'll only answer my phone calls when his fiance isn't around or she's at work. It really pisses me off. Like he ignores my text messages too when he's with her, mind you they live together. Another thing that pisses me off is that he never wants to do stuff i like to do. Like go buy sneakers or hit up the skate shop/skate park. All he ever wants to do is cheat on his fiance. I'm tired of sleeping around/i'm ready to settle down with a chick. Is he fake? Is he not really my friend/family and just like uses me lol? What would you do? No, like we actually bang chicks together. He cheats on her every week. |
