My parents and family are back in Kenya. My uncle lives here in America. She's only spoken to my dad once, but never to my mom or sisters. My girlfriend loves her family and she's close to them. My girlfriend is a good woman and I know she deserves a lot. I try taking care of her as much as possible. She never complains. It's really bad the fact that I feel embarrassed for the family that I have because they always make extremely xenophobic and racist comments when she's around, and she has always been kind and polite to them, even when they say stuff to humiliate her. Of course I've tried talking to them, but they won't listen to me. We've been talking about getting married in the future, not now because we're only 21, but in the future, probably when we finish college. Recently my parents made some of those rude comments to her, and she came to talk to me saying that she won't marry someone whose family feels that way about her, and now she's been talking about breaking up with me because of my family. I love her a lot, she's the most amazing woman that I know, but I really don't know what to do. I can't control what my family says, but I don't blame my girlfriend for being upset. I'm happy being alone as much as people like to say you can't be happy and single. I honestly feel you aren't happy with yourself if you always have to have someone around you. Normally, I am the type of person who tells it like I see it or feel, but when he is around I feel like the 16 year olds in the movies. At 16, I was stressing out about what I wanted to do with my life. Anyways, I noticed this guy several months back, but I moved on because I thought he wasn't interested. I guess about a month ago or so, he switched shifts and I stop seeing him. Then, I saw him one day and our eyes locked (it felt like years had gone by) while I kept walking forgetting what I was talking about. I was in shocked because everything before lead me to believe he wasn't into me. Now he's looking at me with his sparking brown eyes. Then, I thought maybe he was shy. I kind of got upset because I always secretly had feelings and now I'm questioning his actions. On one hand, I want to be with him and on another, I feel there is a catch. He then said he wanted to kill himself because I'm mean to him, and he cant handle my hurtful words anymore, I'm completely confused about the talk of suicide from him as well. I did call the cops a few days ago because he said he was going to kill himself over something else I didn't say to him. I just dont understand what the hell is going on anymore. I did tell his family about the talk of suicide and they said they would get him to a therapist, but it still doesnt make sense how posts about confidence means I'm a horrible person towards him. I feel like I have to censor myself around him because if I dont he says I hurt his feelings in some way. She deleted her facebook and they didnt talk for a while and then a couple of months later they started hanging out as friends and then got angry at each other and stopped talking. He made a public playlist linked to his name on youtube with all songs by her favorite musicians and bands about soulmates, above meeting "the one" and never being able to love someone else as much as her and how waking up to that one special woman is the most important thing in the world. Her favorite bands are really rare and it doesnt seem like a coincidence. Then she would post public posts on her pinterest about losing the love of her life and being willing to do anything to have a second chance. It seemed like they were communicating back and forth, she would pin photo quotes about never being able to move on or find anyone better and he would post songs about wanting her back. Then they got back together and he moved back in to the apartment and now she's posting constantly about narcissists, being lied to, men who are cowards and opportunists etc and they're due to travel together on a vacation paid for by him in the next 5 days. I've been battling depression because of money and just life not going they way it should for me these past few months. My girlfriend has helped me financially a lot. She looks out for me from big things and small things and I appreciate how much she does for me. My girlfriend is always asking me to come over, always under me, literally up my *** every time she has the opportunity. Usually it's hard for me to socialize with people, or even initiate a conversation. I have low self esteem as well, I don't believe people even like to talk to me. Especially not women. I'm overweight since the time I stopped smoking and drinking(5 years ago), but I tried to exercise last year. Saw no results in 2 months and gave up. Maybe I look so unatractive that women find me as a freak. I don't like to go to bars or clubs as I'm not interested in seeing drunk, loud people. The fact that I like to travel, draw and paint would be insignificant if I'm not interesting for someone to begin with. Yet I'm longing for a lasting relationship someday, but it just doesn't seem like it's going to happen ever. The job I have is at a boring place, repairing broken iPhones.. I don't like it, but finding something better isn't going to happen with my lack of experience and lack of university education. Why it's so easy to form relationships for some people? When I first met him he was travelling for work and we met up the summer after, when he was back in the country. Over time, he has steadily opened up more to me however when he was abroad he didn't really message me that much This summer we met up almost every weekend in June. He got drunk and he told me I'm the girl he likes. Whenever I phone him he always ends the call with kisses, kiss you and he keeps on telling me how sweet I am. He also says now he is in the country he will see me a lot more now. However, I know he is generally a flirty personality and that he is a relatively sporadic communicator. He does initiate plans but typically if I want to talk, I have to text him and email him first. I don't know if he likes me truly or not. The last few weeks I haven't seen him as he's been sick/busy settling into the country however I should see him in a couple of weeks time. |

We went to dinner and we got into it a little because he wouldn't allow me to pay for the meal and reluctantly agreed to Dutch. Then he got upset when I told him he would have my bed when I would sleep on my sofa. I explicitly told him that, that was the plan before he even scheduled his flight. He brought me roses WTF for I don't know. Anyway, he has not spoken to me since his return and I know if I missed something. I'm very open and honest snout my celibacy and that I don't date or have an interest in dating. My choices do not. Ran that I don't like men. I still enjoy platonic make friendships. Does it sound like I inadvertently did something wrong or was this guy a jerk trying to get it? |

Posted: 12 Jul 2019 04:10 PM PDT Me and my girlfriend have been together for 3 years, and she was diagnosed with depression and anxiety last year. She goes to therapy, but it's a slow progress. She's extremely insecure about herself, she has had eating disorders in the past, she's been very clingy and needy lately, and there are days (usually when she has an anxiety crisis) that she's so sad that she can't even get out of bed. I've been busy lately, and by that I mean that I still talk to her everyday, I just can't talk to her all the time and see her everyday like I used to. The other day we were in her bedroom after we had sex, and she started crying saying that she thinks I don't love her anymore, and that she's scared of losing me, and that our relationship has been all about sex now. Our relationship was never just sex. I have other priorities in life, but it doesn't mean that I don't I love her. I really want to see her happy, but I don't know how to help her. I feel like since we've stopped seeing each other everyday she got a lot worse, but her happiness can't depend on me, and it breaks my heart seeing her like this. How can I help her?
