Posted: 09 Aug 2015 11:08 PM PDT Hi, I am currently the Maid of Honor in my friends wedding. However I am starting to have second thoughts on being Maid of Honor. If isn t the bride being completely insane than it s the other bridesmaids fighting to push me out of MOH. I am currently in the situation where I am on a extremely tight budget (which was explained to the bride prior to her asking me to be her MOH) and have already spent $1200 (which was over the budget that we discussed) on her wedding and have been advise that we will also be having to pay for our own hair, make up and spray tan which is all mandatory. To add to the costs I have been advised by one of the bridesmaids that the bride feels that her family shouldn t have to pay for the accommodation for the Hen s weekend so it will be split across the 3 bridesmaids. Her demands are starting to put a really strain on our friendship and I feel that if I continue to be apart of this wedding I will no longer have a friend. So is it too late to pull out? The wedding is in October and it is August now.

Question: BRIDAL SHOWER BEFORE CIVIL WEDDING OR CHURCH WEDDING!? Posted: 09 Aug 2015 10:58 PM PDT My daughter is having a civil wedding before her church wedding due to personal reasons. She will be moving in with her future husband right after her first wedding (civil wedding) so they will need things to settle in, but her church wedding is going to be the big celebration, so should I throw her a bridal shower before her civil wedding or her church wedding?

Question: Should I go to the party or to the game? Posted: 09 Aug 2015 09:42 PM PDT My best friend of 11 years has recently got engaged and asked me to be a bridesmaid. One of her bridesmaids is throwing a engagement party on the same night that I have tickets to watch an MLB game. As a sports journalist I take every chance I have to go to games and study players stats. But I need to know whether I should go to the game or should I lose money and go to the engagement party?
Question: Should I go to the party or to the game? Posted: 09 Aug 2015 09:39 PM PDT My best friend of 11 years recently got engaged and asked me to be one of her bridesmaids. She is having a engagement party coming up in September and I have tickets to a MLB game the same day that I purchased way before I knew of the party. I have a career in sports journalism so going to games is very important to me but I also made a commitment to my friend. My only question now is should I go to the game or should I lose money and go to my friends engagement party?
Question: Few financial questions about buying an engagement ring? Posted: 09 Aug 2015 09:23 PM PDT This is my first time through this process and I had a few questions. 1. If I have "excellent" credit, but no credit card, is it normal them to bill me monthly with interest rates and such? 2. What is an acceptable interest rate when it comes to purchasing an engagement ring around 1k or so? 3. What other financial related information should I be concerned about and what is acceptable for purchasing a ring? Anything I'm overlooking? Thanks for the help!
Question: Bridal Set or Engagement Ring? Posted: 09 Aug 2015 08:53 PM PDT im planning on getting my wife a ring that's much bigger and eye catching than her wedding band. We're only 20 years old and have been married for a year and at the time all I could afford was a wedding band. She's never had an engagement ring. I honestly don't know if I should get an engagement ring that could fit with the band or get a bridal set. I know bridal sets are costly and not as big for the money I could spend on just an engagement ring by itself. For 1k I could get a big stoned engagement ring or a smal bridal set. What would be better? Im basically wondering if i should get her an actual bridal set or a fancy expensive engagement ring. We are already married, but all she has right now was a cheap 600$ wedding band....
Question: Would it be rude to provide childcare for my wedding and reception? Posted: 09 Aug 2015 08:26 PM PDT My fiance and I have planned a two hour wedding and reception. We don't want kids under the age of five at our ceremony, but kids would be welcome at the reception. We're getting married in our church. Would it be rude to provide childcare for the entire event?
Posted: 09 Aug 2015 08:17 PM PDT We are an older couple, both married before with grown children and grandchildren. Looking for a place to have a small, casual wedding on a very tight budget. Just a ceremony, not looking for a reception venue.
Question: How do I get over the fact that my dad won't attend to my wedding? Posted: 09 Aug 2015 05:53 PM PDT My wedding is coming up soon and my dad don't want to attend my wedding because he says he's not into going to weddings. I find it a lame excuse and don't understand why he is like that. I'm happy at least other relatives are coming.
Posted: 09 Aug 2015 05:22 PM PDT My fiance and I got married last year because I was having surgery and needed insurance so we went to justice of peace and did it really quick. Well we were planning on telling his mom and other family members but they just kept talking about how excited they were to plan the wedding and help me pick out my dress and do all the decorations ect.. Well we ended up never telling them because we just couldnt crush them like that. So anyway we are finally having actual ceremony and reception and still no one knows.not even friends. Well we are having a friend marry us but not sure what to do when he asks to sign the license since we already are married. And if his family wants to sign the certificate we dont know what exactly to do about that. At this point is gone to far to tell people we have been married all this time and dont even want to go down that road. So is there a way to try and reprint another license and certificate. We are thinking that since its just a friend marrying us and this will be his first time marrying a couple that he wont even realize what he has to sign.

Question: How much do you spend on a wedding gift for your best friend? Posted: 09 Aug 2015 04:18 PM PDT She is one of my best friends, but with that said... I am dropping $700 for a flight there, rental car and dress. When I get there it will be a couple hundred more for hair, nails, going out to eat and this and that.... Everything said and done I am probably looking at $900 BEFORE the wedding gift. So with that in mind what would be an appropriate wedding amount? * she has one of the fund our honeymoon registries.
Question: Invite unsupportive parents to wedding? Posted: 09 Aug 2015 12:32 PM PDT So my fiances mom and my dad are married. They married when we were both 8 years old, which sounds bad, but there was never really a "family environment" in our house, so we never ever saw each other as siblings and the extended family didn't either. To be honest, he spent more time with his grandparents and I mine, in the beginning. We were only home when we were spending time with our individual parent. When we were 12, we became very good friends. And when we were 16, we became more. His mom and my dad objected a lot. But they didn't really do anything apart from shout the whole time. In time, we both moved out, and moved in together. And now we're getting married. They are furious. They've even attacked our grandmothers (my dads mom and his dads mom) for offering to help us pay for the wedding (we didn't accepted, but they found out, somehow). And so far, they have been nothing but negative. I would get it if they'd raised us as siblings, but they didn't. My fiance was asking me if we should invite them. My gut says yes, because they probably won't come either but at least we can say they were invited. Another part of me worries they'll come just to try and ruin the day. What should we do?
Question: Cheap Baquet Halls/Venues in Central New Jersey? Posted: 09 Aug 2015 12:17 PM PDT I'm looking for a banquet hall around Matawan, New Jersey (or anywhere in Middlesex), but it has to be cheap. I'm looking for places that are $50 pp or less

Question: French lavender and black eyed susans wedding bouquet look ok? Posted: 09 Aug 2015 10:47 AM PDT I'm getting married in October and I'm having a rustic/country wedding. I know I want lavender and baby's breath for sure but was thinking about adding black Eyed susans for color. I will also be decorating with burlap, lace, mason jars and pumpkins. Opinions please!!!!
Question: Can i wear this to a wedding shower? Posted: 09 Aug 2015 08:25 AM PDT im going to a wedding shower later and i had a few outfit ideas. one was a dressy black shirt, nice jeans and a necklace. or a dark blue dress with flowers. are both of these appropriate options? i have read "dont wear black" but is that really a big deal? update : i wore jeans because i knew it was going to be very casual and most people had jeans or casual pants on :)
Question: Is this an appropriate wedding shower gift? Posted: 09 Aug 2015 07:56 AM PDT my friend eloped then sent out wedding registry cards. i didn't know she was planning on having a shower eventually so i mailed her a gift card and card that i made her. she is having a shower this weekend and she said that she will be opening all of the gifts she received before the shower. is just the gift card an appropriate gift? i feel like i should have done something more personal. ?? should i bring an extra something to the shower? thanks :-) wow, i truly had no idea how rude this behavior was considered. i guess it makes sense though.

Question: How would you decorate this church? Posted: 08 Aug 2015 11:37 PM PDT So the church is an old little Catholic chapel (fiance and I are both Catholic) and when visiting fiance's family's ranch in south Texas we found this cute little place on the property-its owned by fiance's father, which is great. Anyways, we got permission from the priest and local bishop to have our wedding there. So now we're trying to figure out how to decorate it. It was built in the 1600s or 1700s. The pews are hard wood, and still in good condition as is the building. It has a picture of Our Lady of Guadalupe, simple altar, and no doors. It's a very small building-about the size of a big bedroom. We are getting married in November. Any ideas would be appreciated.
